Hope looked around the table, her eyes falling on Sirius. Though they had met Sirius in passing a few times - mostly on the platform going to and from Hogwarts, they had never had him come and visit before. It was clear that something was up, and, from the way him and Remus were glancing at each other, it was abundantly clear what was up. The pair could barely keep their eyes off each other.

She had suspected as much upon seeing Remus' arm the Summer after he started Hogwarts, noticing the words that he usually covered with long sleeves were visable, and were red instead of black. Red meant that someone had said them. She knew the words hadn't been red before he left, so it had to be someone at school. Now she was finally getting to find out who.

"Mum," Remus began, a nervous tone to his voice. "I have something to tell you."

"Yes, dear," she said, glancing at Lyall who seemed oblivious to the situation in front of him.

"Actually, perhaps…" Sirius glanced at Remus for permission and Remus nodded, clearly relieved.

"Mr and Mrs Lupin, when we were eleven, me and Remus met for the first time, and said each other's words. We decided at the time that eleven was too young to even discuss this and we'd wait until we were a bit older. We waited - even after we both presented as Alpha and Omega, we held off so we didn't rush too quickly into a relationship, and because we were concerned that his secret would get out somehow. But now we're finished Hogwarts, we wanted you to know about our relationship. I wanted you to also know of my intentions."

"What?" Remus asked, glancing at him. "We didn't plan this part of the conversation."

"It's a new part, I'm improvising," Sirius replied, reaching across the table and taking Remus' hand. "Mr and Mrs Lupin, I love Remus, and I plan to marry him. I plan to support him and protect him and all the other things married people promise - but I'll do that from now. Kids, a nice house… I'll do anything he wants because I love him and want to spend the rest of my life with him. I've known that I love him and want a future with him since I was fourteen and I'd really like your blessing."

Hope glanced at her husband again, who gave a small nod. "You have my blessing," he said. "Remus told us how you're always looking after him especially after the full moon."

"I'd have done that even if he wasn't my Omega soulmate," Sirius confirmed. "But I think that made me go to more extremes to attempt to keep him safe."

"Welcome to the family," Hope insisted. "When you're ready to marry, I can help plan the wedding—"

"I'm ready now," Sirius quickly informed her. "Remus laughed when I suggested we marry immediately. I just can't wait for our future to become our present."

"I thought you were joking," Remus replied, uncertainly. "I'd like to marry you, but do you really want to be tied down so soon? I know you, Sirius. You like being free and travelling and stuff. I don't want to hold you back."

Sirius grinned. "I'd never joke when it came to spending my life with you. I can't wait to call you my husband. When that happens, it's not going to hold anything back. We can still go on trips and visit new places - together. I was always planning on bringing the group, so married or not, things won't change in those terms."

Hope stood up and began to clear the plates from the table. "We can start planning today. I have a feeling we'll need to plan before a baby appears."

"Hope…"

"Don't 'Hope' me," she insisted. "I taught Remus to get married before having intimate relations. We had better get them married before he starts ignoring my rule."

"Oh, we've only kissed," Sirius assured her. "I don't want to marry him just to get him into bed. I want to marry him because I want us to be a family. We're going to double-barrel our names."

Hope recalled what Remus had told her about Sirius' family and she walked around the table, hugging her future son in law. "You're part of our family now," she assured him. "Welcome to the Lupin family dear."

Sirius' arms wrapped around her. "Thank you," he replied. "I'll do everything to make your son happy."

"I know you will," she assured him. "Now, who wants dessert?"
