Annabeth Pov:
Annabeth usually accepted the spontaneous with open arms. It was part of life as a demigod: Expect the unexpected. It didn't mean she actually liked the events just that she wasn't surprised. She could also figure out what emotion she would usually feel: fear. But this time the event wasn't a monster attack or a crashing ship it was Percy kissing her. Annabeths emotions were strewn all over the place to the point that she felt confused and not able to focus on anything but percy's sea green eyes and that moment on the deck below the stars. See Annabeth didn't know what the problem was she should have been happy, ecstatic even, and she did, partly. The other part of her was confused and scared. She put these thoughts aside and went to sleep hoping for no dreams at all.
A few weeks passed by in flurries of visits from Percy bringing her hot chocolate, frank asking her to help him with Chinese hand cuffs, Meetings, Aphrodite and once a tomb of emotions she and piper had to go through. The day they were going to arrive in Rome was looming over them and approaching fast, but Percy made it all bearable with his daily visits to Annabeth, making her laugh and helping her with a plan. They talked about everything from Dogs to Arachne or Karaoke. Annabeth began getting used to Percy sitting on her desk, talking to Annabeth not really expecting a response, and Herself doing research to nowhere on Daedalus' laptop. One morning after breakfast Annabeth was forming a plan inspired by frank zhang to trap Arachne but her eyes kept drifting to her table expecting to see Percy. She frowned; he was late. Then her door swung open revealing a Percy with a goofy smile plastered on his face, holding two cups of a hot beverage.
Annabeth glared at the door but secretly she was glad he was here. His presence alone helped her to concentrate and it being comforting was just a bonus. "Late" She scolded her eyes going back to her plan.
"Fine. I'm guessing you want me to give this cup of deliciously warm hot chocolate to Piper then?"
"No!" Annabeth whined. "I want my hot chocolate!" She set aside the laptop and ran to Percy. He held her cup high in the air out of her reach and laughed. She jumped 3 times to try and get it resulting in no luck then she decided to just takes Percy's cup instead. Carrying the stolen cup, Annabeth resumed her work balancing the laptop on her knees and working with one hand as she drank her hot chocolate.
Percy sighed and sat on the desk. "Whatcha doing?"
"Ignoring you."
"You're not doing a very good job of that then are you?" He magically got a pillow to the face.
"Harry potter and the goblet of fire." Percy read. Annabeth kept a copy of that book to read when she was done with her work. It had the Ancient Greek title underneath and the whole book was in the language. The book had been gifted to her by Chiron when she was younger, a present she kept well. "Fiction huh? What's it about?"
"Read it and you'll find out."
"But readings boring!" Annabeth gasped and finally stared at Percy, mock hurt showing on her face. Percys hair was dishevelled as always and sea green eyes shone with a thick layer of amusement. His fingers were clutching his cup and tapping it, a gesture he didn't seem to realise he was doing.
"I'm sorry dear maiden! Please forgive thy fairest mistakes as I assure you it will not happen again." Percy said setting his cup aside and getting down on his knees begging me but grinning all the same.
Annabeth put her hand to her forehead joining in on the act. "But kind sir I forgive and forget but father shall not. Take your regards to him as he shall decide my fate!"
"But Miss Chase! Your father is the... How do you say big bad wolf in fancy talk?" She burst out laughing spilling a bit of Hot chocolate on her jeans as she did.
"Quite down!" said Leo from the room across the hall which made Percy and Annabeth laugh even harder. It was nights like those that Annabeth wouldn't trade for anything, the karaoke nights, the ones they spent laughing like crazy, the endless dancing with the rest of the crew. At least they would have fun before they died.
Flash forward to after Arachne fell into Tartarus.
Percy's pov:
Frank transformed into a giant eagle, carrying Leo, and the two of them soared towards the ship hoping to secure the Athena Parthenos in time. Jason wrapped his arm around piper. He turned to Percy. "Back for guys in a sec" He summoned the wind and shot off.
"This floor won't last!" Hazel warned. "The rest of us should get to the ladder."
Hazel lunged for the bottom rung as plumes of dust and cobwebs blasted halls in the floor. Percy gripped Annabeth's hand "It'll be fine," He murmured. Annabeth gasped and stumbled just as Nico reached the ladder.
"What is it?" Percy asked, alarmed. Annabeth staggered backwards and his grip on her hand tightened. Annabeth's legs swept out from under her and she fell on her face.
"Her ankle!" Hazel shouted from the ladder, pointing to Annabeth. "Cut it! Cut it!"
Percy was confused not knowing what Hazel meant. Then Annabeth got yanked backwards and dragged towards the pit tearing his hand from Annabeth's. Percy lunged. A dumb decision but his mind was only thinking about Annabeth. He grabbed Annabeths arm but the momentum carried him along aswell.
"Help them!" Hazel yelled. Percy turned his head to see Nico hobbling over to them but he knew he wouldn't make it in time. Annabeth sobbed, a sound that hurt percy just to hear, as her legs went over the edge of the pit.
Realisation hit Percy like a bus. Annabeth's leg was tangled in spider silk that probably had Arachne on the other side of it.
"No," Percy muttered, Eyes rimmed with fear and worry. "My sword..." He fumbled in his pocket but he couldn't reach riptide without letting go of Annabeth's arm. Percy tumbled over the edge with Annabeth. He was falling briefly but grabbed a small ledge, just in time to see Nico hobbling over. He knew he couldn't hold on for long but he just needed to hold on for a little while.
Nico put his hand over the edge but he was too far away. Hazel yelled somewhere in the distance.
"Percy, let me go," Annabeth croaked. "You can't pull me up." Hopeless light dawned in Percy's eyes but still, he wouldn't let her go.
"Never," He said. "We go down, we go down together. The other side, Nico! We'll see you there. Understand?"
"But-" Nicos eyes widened in realisation and his face whitened with fear.
"Lead them there!" Percy shouted. "Promise me!"
"I-I promise."
Percy looked down at Annabeth. "We're staying together," He promised. "You're not getting away from me. Never again."
Annabeth smiled. A true real smile. It was small but it was there, Percys light to what seemed like his dark future. "I love you Percy Jackson. As long as we're together."
"As long as we're together." I echoed. "I love you too. Ready?"
Annabeth nodded. Percy heard Nico and Hazel screaming for help. He saw sunlight far, far above. Maybe someday he would see it again. Then Percy let go of the tiny ledge, and together, holding hands, He and Annabeth fell into the endless darkness.
A/N: Thank for like everything but that's it for now. *Dramatic bow*.
