Assignment 6 - Floristry: Task #6 - Salmon Rose: (Enthusiasm/desire/excitement) Write about someone beginning a new, exciting chapter in their life (a new relationship, a job promotion—be creative).
I googled and it suggested marriage as a new chapter. So that's what I went with for this fic.
A New Chapter
All that matters on their wedding day is that they're together. WolfStar.
The ceremony is smaller than Remus expected, but when it came down to it, there were only a few people that him and Sirius even wanted there. Sirius, having been disowned, didn't have much in the way of family. Remus' wizarding family distancing themselves ever since Remus was bitten as a child. Their parents are there (well, the Potters in place of the Blacks) and their friends are mostly mutual friends. A few members of the Order have also been invited.
They don't need a large, lavish wedding. That's not who they are. The wedding is simple, but it's so beautiful. Small lights fill the air, and petals litter the ground. Music plays from the stereo that has been set up and Dorea and Hope have managed the food themselves.
It's perfect. It's beautiful, but even if they had less, it'd still be as amazing - because nothing could spoil the day where he married Sirius Black. Nothing could ruin the day he became Remus Lupin-Black. The only thing that matters is taking this step with Sirius.
They move slowly on the dance-floor, arms wrapped tightly around each other to an unfamiliar song, but Remus wants this moment to last forever. Sirius' lips are an inch from his ear, murmuring the lyrics, and Remus can't stop smiling.
But as all weddings do, it draws to an end too quickly. The cake has been cut and eaten (and the rest of the chocolate wedding cake is stored, ready for dessert for the next day if Remus can wait that long). Photos have been taken, and dancing and mingling have both happened. There is nothing wedding-related left to do except leave and celebrate together, alone.
it's time to head to the little cottage they purchased together. The cottage they've yet to officially move in to, wanting to wait until they're married to do so. The one that they've saved every penny they could spare for. The one that their friends and family helped pay for in lieu of wedding gifts. The cottage down the street from the Lupins' cottage, with it's little wooden fence and ivy climbing the exterior walls.
The goodbyes are rushed. Once it's time to leave, Sirius is suddenly very eager to get them home, and Remus' face reddens when he thinks about why. He's just as eager to get Sirius home too. To see their cottage, to climb into their bed (after storing the cake away).
They've got four days in Italy planned, paid for by Uncle Alphard, but they don't leave for another two days, and, as they walk down the street in their suits, Sirius is very detailed in what he plans to do with Remus for those two days. Very very detailed, and they both speed up because they waited until their wedding to take the final step.
Remus laughs as Sirius jokingly tries to lift him up to step over the threshold. But soon their lips find each other, as they always seem to do. The door is pushed shut behind them as they lose themselves in each other.
Remus only pulls away so he can put his precious chocolate cake in the kitchen, but the moment he leaves the room, Sirius takes his hand and leads him to the bedroom.
They're married now, and Remus gets to spend his life with his soulmate. There's nothing more he could ever want. He's happy, and he can see in Sirius' eyes that the love of his life feels the same.
Review please :)
