Wedding Musings

Wyatt stood upon that alter that Sunday Morning, waiting patiently for the ceremony to start. None of the guests were the wiser at his current predicament. He was anxious and nervous; possibly a little scared if he was honest. Earlier he had sworn he was ready to take this step , not a leap, as he knew it was only the next natural step to take. He had been waiting three years to take this step, a big step his brother and parents had continually reminded him.

"Marriage isn't easy; it's a lot of compromising and hard work. Especially when it come to our line of work" He could hear his mother pointedly telling him over a batch of cookies she was making on that Wednesday night he had talked to her about his decision to marry his soon to be wife. He understood where his mother was coming from, but he also knew that she was happy for him when she smiled with tears threatening to fall looking up from her batch of cookie dough.

Wyatt looked to his side and saw that same teary smile on his mother. Piper was always fond of her soon to be daughter in law and was so proud of her son at this changing moment in his life. She just hoped that their marriage wouldn't be as hard as hers once was. She knew that the universe HAD to allow for such a union to be left alone and not compromise it like hers once was. She gave a hard squeeze to her husband's hand and he smiled knowingly.

At that moment Wyatts attention was required to the center of the aisle as the music started. He smiled when he saw his sister walk up. She was in the arms of her coworker and boyfriend and she seemed happy; which scared her and worried Wyatt. He could tell, Melinda was easily read by those that knew her well. Their line of work always had her scared, especially as she and two others were tasked with continuing the line of succession in her family. She was afraid that her mortal boyfriend would not be able to comprehend what was her life really was about, that delicate balance between her mortal life and her witch life. But at the moment, Melinda was walking down that aisle happy that at least for a day she wouldn't have to worry about anything else than her brothers wedding and party.

The father of the groom was tasked with keeping his wife from trying to fix or adjust something. Keeping her busy hands still was always hard. He was next to her as only he could; reminiscing on his wedding day many years ago. The first attempt was a failure, but the second and final one was a success, one that he was forever grateful. He had made many mistakes and put his wife through so much that he wondered how she could have forgiven him. He was grateful, hopeful and optimistic for the future this young couple was granted with.

Leo moved swiftly to his oldest son side and whispered one last piece of advice: "Just breath, son". Wyatt nodded and smiled, looking as his sister finally sat down and his brother was walking up with his cousin.

Christopher was happy for his brother, he really was; but he hated that one third of his "crew" was now "attached" to someone else. Was it jealousy? He wasn't sure. He did envy the fact that life had given Wyatt a partner that accepted him and was with him on the most important issues; issues that included him most of the time. Walking down the aisle with his cousin Penny, Christopher contemplated the idea of being jealous once more. No it wasn't jealousy, it was sadness. He didn't allow anyone to know, to see the truth and his truth was a lot sadder than what most would think. Wyatt was the only one that knew, and he'd hope that he would take a chance one day. That he would take back the decision he made a long time ago and allow himself to be as happy as he was on that day. All Christopher could muster was a sly smile as he stepped up the stairs to take his rightful side by his brother, his best friend and best man.

Penelope, on the other hand scooted next to Melinda; "I still cant believe you aren't the 'Maid of Honor'. Melinda smiled and ignored the question, now wasn't the time to gossip. Penny shook her head and smiled at the groom, happy that she had a say in this union long before it happened. Wyatt noticed both his sister and Penny smiling and he winked at both, knowing that the wink was directed at Penny. She had a lot to thank as she had given him a hint as to who his true love would be; all because she was playing a game long ago. Penny smiled and mouthed "you're welcome".

Looking back at the aisle, Wyatt couldn't help but smile as he saw his aunts and uncles sitting in the back. The uncles who had made it their mission to teach a young Wyatt all about the art of dating. He was the only one to take his uncles advice to heart. Chris and his cousin Jr., always thought they were too suave for such advice, but Wyatt took it in and was happy he had. Without their "wisdom" as his had put it; his bride to be would have walked away long ago. But he also had his aunts to thank. Paige was always the one with the "fun" date ideas and Phoebe was always the one to spew romance as important to any relationship. Growing up Wyatt ate all of that advice and he was happy it finally paid off. He was happy it had paid off years ago when both bride and groom admitted to being in love. He was just extra happy that it had led to this particular day.

Patience was walking down the aisle with her "friend" as she put it often. Truth was that she really liked him but couldn't fathom telling him the truth and besides, his job took him all over the world, something that annoyed her to no end. Wyatt was happy to see that she had chosen him as her escort for the day, maybe he could help them come to terms with their true feelings. He owed a lot to his cousin, she had been a welcomed relief when at one time Wyatt thought his bride to be was never coming back and he knew how to repay her for that.

Those cupid sisters he thought, were love personified, he thought; all well except THAT one. Pearl was a firecracker to say the least; and as Phoebe was helping her prepare for her walk down the aisle as a flower girl. Yes, a flower girl; something she would make sure to throw in Wyatts face later, was as always giving her mom a tough time. Wyatt laughed, if he had to give each sister a "love identity" well that meant that Pearl was the passionate side of love. How could she not, she was dramatic and over the top with everything; at her young age she just didn't know how to handle that. She always did everything with such passion, it scared everyone most of the time.

Wyatt looked up to the clock and let out another shaky breath. He was growing restless. Another couple down the aisle, the bride to be's sister and maid of honor. She walked to her side as Jr. and his twin sisters started their walk. Jr. was relieved that he didn't have to walk with any other person that weren't his sisters. He was happy that he got to spend this day with his family instead of entertaining a stranger. Truth be told, tomorrow he would have to deliver horrible news to his family and he didn't want to take away from today, the last day of peace his family would know for a while, hopefully not to long of a while. Pandora and Primrose were on each side and knew something was wrong with their brother, so did Wyatt and Chris. It was all to be taken care of tomorrow they all mentally agreed. So the sisters did what they did best and blended in with their brother. Wyatt had a feeling of foreboding when he saw them, he knew they were hiding something, but would worry about it tomorrow. Not today. They took their seats as he smiled and nodded. The three siblings did the same. Chris on the other hand was ready to question them, but knew it should wait after Wyatt shot him a look.

Finally his newfound family had arrived. His cousins and uncle, who had been recently "found" as Piper had put it when introducing them to friends of the family sat as Pearl was walking behind the ring bear, trying not to look too annoyed. Those three new found cousin; Patty, Victor and Warren sat next to their parents. Funny, thought Wyatt; he had a hard relationship with the oldest two, as they really lived on their own accord and since he was used to being the voice of reason. Butting heads with both Patty and Victor seemed an almost daily occurrence. Both didn't really want anything to do with the "family business", but life always found a way. Warren, on the other hand, enjoyed it and had melded well with his new family. Wyatt was most happy that his aunt had come back into their lives. After growing up with all of the stories of his infamous aunt Prue, Wyatt was thrilled to work beside her and learn from such a fearless person, not that his mother wasn't. They didn't compare, but she was a legend and so much could be learned from such a legend.

The change in music to the wedding march signaled the inevitable, as he looked up to where his bride to be was. The room became much brighter. He could see her, a petite blonde taking her first step with her father in tow. As Wyatt saw her fazed smile though her veil, he couldn't help but remember the first time they meet. She was running through an ally and trying to make her weapon work, a teaser; but it wouldn't budge. When she bumped into a tall blond man who while looking at her, waved his hand and her assailant was no more. She looked back and she could only muster was a "I had it under control". Wyatt was smitten with her from that moment. She was independent and beautiful, but it wasn't the girl from Pennys vision, or so he thought.

On her way down the aisle, the only memory that sprung into the brides head was the moment she realized she was in love. Six months into dating him, she had tripped and sprained her ankle on a date. She was embarrassed at her clumsiness. She didn't understand why she was a klutz all of a sudden. She first thought it was due to a curse or at least a bad day. She found out from her mother that it wasn't a curse and she felt it in the pit of her stomach when her mother said, "Maybe you're in love?" She didn't believe it until the next day she sat across from Wyatt having lunch, he sat taking a bite of his food and his lips did a funny curve and it hit her like a ton of bricks, she was in love. She kept it a secret for a while, admitting to these strong feelings right away could be disastrous. The last thing she wanted was to scare him away. In reality, she knew deep down that he wouldn't run. She was just afraid of what her future with Wyatt Halliwell would be like. Ultimately, she was glad she chose to stick around.

As she gave her father a hug and he lifted the veil, Wyatt let out another shaky breath. He didn't understand how her presence made the room brighter. He looked at the windows to see if the sun was brighter, but it wasn't. That chosen spring date was looking cloudier than expected. Still, she was glowing and beautiful. Wyatt took her hand and everyone smiled.

Wyatt wasn't paying attention as he was thrown into another memory. He was remembering when Penny told him about her vision. "She isn't going to be like all your other girlfriends Wy. She's going to stand out. I couldn't see her face; just saw the wisp of her blond hair while she was walking down the altar."

That vision happened about two years before meeting his future bride. When he met his bride to be, she wasn't a blond, so he didn't pay much attention to the possibility of the relationship growing, besides what's meant to be, will be. When he realized he was in love with her, he ran to Penny to re-examine that vision from long ago. Penny shocked at the desperation in Wyatts voice for confirmation, because as he put it "This isn't like all the other times" Penny smiled and told him, maybe she dyes her hair? Or I dunno, maybe it's your second marriage?" Wyatt looked at her pointedly and Penny chuckled, "I dunno. I'm just telling you what I saw. Besides don't stress, I'm sure she feels the same way about you too." After only three months of dating Wyatt knew he had meet his match and he couldn't wait to see where things went with his new girlfriend.

Wyatt was brought back to that cloudy Sunday morning, when his voice simply said "I do". His great grandmother smiled and turned to his bride to be and all he could do was hear her answer "I do". He smiled as he looked at the woman in front of him, a blond with such soft blue eyes and a big smile. She had tear in the rim of her eyes and was about to let them fall in happiness.

"Congratulations Wyatt Matthew and Meredith. You may now kiss the bride" His great grandmother stated. Wyatt looked at his bride and brought her in for a soft kiss. All around them the guest to his wedding were cheering and applauding, but he wasn't paying attention. He was enjoying this moment, holding his new bride in his embrace. Enjoying what was to come from now on. He couldn't wait to celebrate with his family.
