Victoria Montoya de Cannon writes….

I cannot believe it! After much quarreling, the weddings are going to happen. The preparations are complete. Penny and Mercedes look so beautiful in their dresses. Manolito assures me that Papa and he have a surprise for Blue. (So help me, Mano, you will not get him in trouble!) Miguel is ready to participate in the special double ceremony. Vaquero has sent word that Casa Cueva wishes to have a fiesta to celebrate the wedding. I am sure John and Papa will offer something to the couples. So many wonderful things!

I just hope Papa plays his part. When he arranged for John and me to marry, the local priest from Casa Cueva married us. I know he wishes for Manolito to marry Mercedes in an elaborate ceremony in Hermosillo or Mexico City. Now that Don Ricardo wishes to have such a marriage for his daughter and the sake of another "political alliance," I hope he will not play a game.

Donna Lupe refuses to accept the inevitable. She still wants that elaborate wedding in Mexico City. She wants Mercedes married to a "respectable" caballero. Now she has disappeared (even if we know where she most likely went). Does she not understand the politics surrounding our families?
