Chapter 1

The working day for ZPD'S finest officers had come to an end, both the rabbit and fox bid each other goodnight as they left the ZPD building. Judy smiled as she started walking towards the train station, as she neared the station she spotted a poster on a wall, "huh," Judy mumbled as she quickly crossed the road looking both ways as she did.

She read the poster her face beaming in excitement "looking for mammals to perform any mammal included. Register inside, ask for Mavis." Judy muttered to herself as she stared up at the building, it was a pretty plain building, the name above the door reading "Mavis's Bar."

Judy shrugged and entered inside, the place was pretty quiet for it being a Friday night, but it was only five o clock. A few tables were scattered round a few booths next to the windows and in the corner to the left was a round curved stage a dance floor.

Judy looked around as she headed to the counter to see if she could talk with Mavis, she spotted a female leopard mixing drinks and serving a tiger "there ya are Chad." She said as she handed him the drink.

"Thanks Mavis." The tiger nodded.

Judy smiled as she now knew who Mavis was and didn't need to look around. The leopard spotted her and approached the rabbit, "oh hello there, welcome to my bar what can I get you?" Mavis asked.

"Thank you, uhhhh I was wondering if I could sign up to perform?" Judy asked nervously rubbing her arms as her ears went droopy.

Mavis looked up from cleaning the counter she beamed in excitement at the rabbit, "really you want too? I didn't think anyone would want to sign up. I came up with this idea hoping it would pull in more customers on Friday night….Sorry I started rambling before I introduced myself, I'm Mavis."

Judy nodded with a grin, "nice to meet you Mavis, I'm Judy Hopps."

Mavis let out a gasp as she fumbled about under her counter and got a paper and a pen, "oh my goodness, thee Judy Hopps?" Judy nodded bashfully. "I can't believe officer Hopps performing in my bar. Wait until I tell everyone." Mavis gushed in excitement as she looked to her friends who hadn't been paying attention over in the corner.

Judy eyes widened at what the leopard said and she flung her paws out, "uhh Mavis wait please!"

Mavis paused and turned back to Judy "yes?"

Judy sighed while she really wanted to sing she really didn't want anyone to know she could sing, for fear of embarrassing herself in front of people she knew, not that she knew if anyone she knew ever came in this bar. "Um…..This may seem silly….But I….I really don't want anyone to know I'm singing so can I request that I come in disguise?" Judy asked as she rubbed her ears.

Mavis raised her eyes in confusion at the request, but she lit up at the idea, "oooh. of course….but why wouldn't you want anyone to know you're singing?"

Judy sighed as she down at the floor, "I…..um…..in case I embarrass myself in front of people I know."

Mavis frowned but nodded, "well how about this for an idea, why don't we call you the mascaraed rabbit, I've got a tone of masks in the dressing room. You can pick which ever one you'd like, how's that sound?"

Judy smiled in delight, "I like it, thank you so much Mavis."

Mavis grinned and handed her the form, "greaaaat I can't wait….Now Judy here's the form for you to sign, I'm hopping by Friday a few other mammals might sign up and I'll tell them about that idea and see if they like it."

Judy nodded as she eagerly signed the form, "I'm sure they will."

"Well that's us Judy, if you come by five on Friday we can do a quick rehearsal if you guys want one before I open the place." Mavis suggested.

"Yeah, a quick rehearsal would be good. Don't know what I'm singing yet." Judy frowned in thought.

Judy left the bar and headed straight home, she was really excited to sing in Mavis bar next Friday night.
