Ok so I'm putting a warning here first. There is spanking in this chapter M/M in a punishment style. I've alluded to how Boden runs his house previously and we've obviously seen him punish Gabby. Same as always if this isn't your thing then please don't read.
Thank you for the comments so far I know someone suggested the relationship between Matt and Gabby seems a bit controlling, I think if you haven't experienced a domestic discipline relationship then it very much can come across as that, but please be aware that this is a mutual agreement between the two characters and as you will see later on in my story Matt is open to stopping if Gabby ever feels the need to as much as Gabby is willing to stop if Matt ever becomes uncomfortable to.
Thank you for reading and please continue with the feedback :)

Truck 81, squad 3, ambulance 61 house fire

As they pull up everybody is shocked by the scene in front of them, the entire upstairs seems to have collapsed and a man is holding back a woman who is screaming to let her go.

"Let me go, he's still in there, let me go" she struggles against him but he holds firm.

"Mam my name is Lieutenant Casey, how many are still inside?

"My son! Please my son."

"Mam is it just your son?"

"Yes he's only 6 please!"

"We'll get him mam, I promise" Casey turned to his crew, "we have a 6 year old boy, trapped somewhere inside. Dawson, Hermann you take the left side, Cruz Ariel and attack from above, Otis your with me we will take the right side. Be careful in there"

They all moved at once and before long they were engulfed in amongst the flames and smoke inside what was left of the building.

"Fire department, call out" shouted Hermann

"Fire department is anyone here" Gabby shouted signalling to Hermann she was going further in.

"We've got him" the radio crackled with Casey's voice "he's alive, ambo 61 be ready we're coming out."

"Dawson, let's go" Hermann shouted as relief rushed over him. "Dawson" he looked around realizing he could no longer see the candidate of truck 81. "Dawson, where are you" suddenly he heard it the sound no fire fighter wants to hear, the panic alarm that goes off if a fire fighter is still for too long beep beep beep beep "chief we have a problem in here" Hermann called into his radio.

"What is it Hermann?" Chief Boden radioed back.

"Erm Dawson went further in to search and I can't see her, she isn't responding and the alarms going off. I think she might be hurt."

Casey stopped and looked at Otis, "can you manage him?" He asked placing the young boy they'd just rescued into his arms, "I've got to go, I've got to get to her." He turned on his heal "Gabby I'm coming" he shouted into the air.

Otis continued out onto the street, met quickly by Mills and Shay he placed the young lad on the gurney.

"Thank you, thank you" shouted the boys mother as she ran towards her son "Ben, Ben are you ok?"

"Mam I need to check him out" said Shay moving her arm to push the mother back. "Please stand back while I do so, and then we will get him to the hospital."

With that Otis turned to the chief who was looking for Casey "he went back in chief, said he couldn't leave her."

"Casey report?" The chief waited, no response "Lieutenant? Hermann?" Anyone please respond" the chief sounded concerned and everyone looked on waiting, waiting for some sign or reply that showed that they were all ok. "Lieutenant Casey report!" Boden was shouting repeatedly into his radio now. Silence had fallen outside as everyone stood with bated breath.

"We're coming out chief" Casey's voice came through the radio "we've got her, we're coming out" he said almost as if he was trying to comfort himself.

Nothing prepared them to see her though, unconscious and being carried by Casey and Hermann who both looked exhausted, "she's breathing but looks like she hit her head" Casey told them as he put her on the gurney.

Brett checked her vitals while Shay inspected the large cut across the top of Gabby's left eye. Gabby began to stir, opening her eyes she looked around confused as to how she'd got outside. Her and Hermann had been retreating when the beam came down, she'd managed to jump away from it but hit her head on something, what she did not know. "Gabby Gabby, can you hear me" came Shays voice, "Gabby?"

Casey stood holding his breath, while he held tightly to the woman he loved hand not daring to let go, not even aware that everyone around them were staring, waiting.

"I'm ok, honestly. Let me get up" Gabby said while trying to push Shay and Mills off her "it's only a Scratch, I'll be fine."

"They'll be the judge of that" replied Casey pushing her back down on the gurney. "Let them do their job, you've done yours. The kids safe and suffered no real injuries." Turning to Shay he said "your taking her in?" It was more of a statement than a question, Shay nodded "I'm coming too." He looked at the chief who nodded his approval, Hermann could stand in for him for rest of shift. His head wouldn't be in the game anyway.

"Let's go" Shay called to Mills from the back of the ambo, "as quickly as possible", Matt stared at her.

"Why so fast?" He asked getting more concerned by the minute.

"With a head injury she needs a CT ASAP. Just incase, don't worry." Shay placed a hand on his "we've got her."

Matt clung to Gabby's hand, and kept placing kisses on it. "I'm sorry I wasn't with you babe, I could have protected you. I should have protected you."

Gabby shook her head "ouch!"

"Are you ok?" Matt and Shay both said.

"Yea shouldn't move my head to fast, hurts!" Matt laid his other hand gently on her forehead and stroked her hair.

"You lay still we've got you."

"Matt it wasn't your fault, we were fine. But as we retreated the beam came down. I jumped and hit my head, I don't know what happened next but by the looks of you and the rest of 81 I'm assuming it wasn't good?"

"We couldn't get to you. Hermann didn't know where you were, we could hear your alarm but you were trapped behind a load of rubble. Hermann and I dug you out but bits of roof kept falling on us. So I..." Matt paused wondering whether to tell her that he'd risked his own life to save hers.

"So you what?" Gabby pressed.

"I, I... erm I took off my gear and climbed through a gap in the rubble to get you."

"Matt!"

"I couldn't lose you in there Gabby. And I don't care if Boden disciplines me for it. I had to get to you."

Gabby stared at him, she knew Boden wouldn't be happy when Hermann's report hit the desk. He'd have to say what Casey had done. And then the chief would come down hard on the young Lieutenant, especially as he'd obviously allowed personal feelings to get before the job. "Matt you know Boden..."

"I know, but it'll be worth it because I have you!" Matt said.

"We're here" Mills called.

Gabby spent five hours in the emergency room, Matt didn't leave her side apart from when the nurses wouldn't allow him into the CT or X-ray rooms. "Wait here sir we won't be long." The nurse had said, in actual fact it had taken almost two hours which had resulted in Matt pacing outside the department and wearing the carpet thin. When Gabby finally came out he was relieved to see she was still ok.

"What took so long" he asked.

"They said something about blurry images and kept moving my head around."

Matt took her hand once more and refused to let go.

"Matt I'm ok, honestly. I feel absolutely fine."

*****************************

"Lieutenant Hermann, my office please!" Boden's voice boomed across the common room.

"Yes sir" replied Hermann.

"Close the door Hermann." Boden said standing behind his desk. "I've got some questions about the incident report you've written. Did I read it wrong or are you saying Lieutenant Casey defied all orders, and protocol and removed his gear to get to Dawson?"

Hermann swallowed he knew what he had written was going to cause Casey to be in major trouble, but he wasn't sure if the chief would just deal with it in house or if he'd write him up.

"He... erm... he, well, erm yes sir."

Boden nodded, "very well. Are there any updates on Dawson?"

"Casey said she's fine, cut to the head and concussion but nothing serious. Could have been worse though chief. It could have been a recovery." Hermann hoped that he was at least making the situation better for Casey. There was no way he would have got to Gabby by himself, if Casey hadn't turned up he would have died trying but he was certain that Casey coming back into the fire was what saved them both.

"Good" Boden thought for a moment "I'll deal with Casey when he's back, could you send him to me please."

"Sure Chief" Hermann left the office and headed for the bunk room. He sat down on his bed and sighed, how much trouble would Casey be in when he got back. They were trained to never remove their gear in a fire, there was a good reason for that! To protect them, Casey knew this yet he still removed his. He'd let his personal feelings get in the way Boden knew it, damn it he knew it, Casey knew what could happen. He rested his head in his hands.

"Hermann? You ok?" Cruz entered the bunk room. "Hermann?"

Hermann looked up "yea all good, just feel a bit..." Cruz cut him off.

"Look Hermann, Casey was going in there whether or not you said anything. There's nothing you could have done to stop him!"

"I know that but how much trouble has my report got him into?"

"Casey knows the consequences, he will accept whatever the chief decides to do."

"But..." Hermann stopped looking at Cruz "what if he gets... you know?"

"Then he gets it. It won't be the first time."

"No but he's a lieutenant now. That's a rare thing."

"Hermann look, he deals with these things quite often. Sure he's usually the one handing it out, but he'll take it if that's what the chief says."

"Your right" Hermann said, standing up he gave Cruz a pat on the back "thanks."

"So you are free to go Miss Dawson, but please take some time to rest."

Gabby looked at the nurse with daggers in her eyes "I can't take time off!" She stated.

"Miss Dawson you took a nasty blow to the head, you have concussion and stitches. You need at least a week."

"But..."

"She'll take it don't worry" Matt interjected staring at Gabby "and she'll not complain about it!"

"Good, well if you could just sign here. Here's some pain relief for you head.

"Thank you" Matt said taking the tablets and helping Gabby up. "Let's get you home."

Gabby leant on Matt as he moved her from the bed to the wheelchair waiting for her before wheeling it to the front of the hospital, he calls a cab as both their cars are either at home or the station.

"We'll go pick up my truck and I can have a quick word with the chief before we get you home. Ok baby?" Matt said as they travelled towards the station. Gabby had rested her head against him, and he'd wrapped his arm protectively around her shoulders.

"Yea ok, I'll wait in the common room." Gabby replied. She knew Matt needed to speak to the chief, she also knew he could come out of the office with a formal warning. He could have a permanent black mark against him. He may never become a chief thanks to her. She sat up and looked out of the window.

"Hey" Matt said reaching out for her hand. "What's up?"

Gabby stared out of the window as she replied "It's all my fault, chief Boden is angry because of me, you broke protocol because of me!"

"It is not your fault" he said pulling her back to him, "do you understand? Whatever happens in the chiefs office is my doing! Not yours!" Gabby went to interrupt "no Gabby, it wasn't your fault the ceiling fell in. You didn't ask me to take my gear off and climb through unstable rubble. It's on me not you. Ok?"

"Ok" she nodded, before settling back onto his chest for the last five minutes of their journey.

"Gabby! Thank god your ok!" Shay came running across the room to hug her. "Let me look at you. Yup all patched up!"

"I'm fine." Gabby said "honestly I'd be back at work tomorrow if he'd let me." She nodded towards Matt.

"Doctor said one week Gabby!" He replied. "Right guys can you take care of my girl please, I need to go speak with the chief."

"Yup no worries" they shout.

"Good luck Casey!" Otis shouts, everyone stares at him. "What!" He says raising his arms "we all know he's going get it!"

Hermann slapped him round the head "shut up will you."

Gabby looked worried as she gave Matt a kiss.

Knock knock.

"Chief" Casey put his head round the door.

"Come in Casey! Close the door."

Boden got up and drew all the blinds, and Casey gulped, yup he was definitely in trouble.

"What the hell were you thinking Casey!" Boden shouted. "You never, NEVER, take your gear off in a fire!"

"Chief I know, but... I... I couldn't leave her there!" Casey looked down at the ground, he knew he was in big trouble and he could have potentially just made the biggest mistake of his career, but he would do it again in a heartbeat.

"I know Casey." Boden sighed "that's part of the issue. I asked you when Dawson took the candidate spot on 81 if it was going to be an issue. You said you could handle it. Today you let personal come before your job!" He paced round the office as he spoke, still trying to decide what to do with the rogue Lieutenant. "Further more, I'm unsure if you'd do it again. Or what she'd do if the roles were reversed!"

"Yes sir, but I promise you I won't step out again. I know it was a stupid and dangerous move. It could have been the end of all three of us." The more Matt spoke the more he was sure he wasn't making the situation any better. "What are you going to do?" He asked concerned.

Boden rubbed his face "honestly I don't know. I should write you up." He paused letting that bit of information sink in "you should be suspended" again he paused. "But you are a great firefighter and a great Lieutenant and I don't want to hinder your career. So I think you should take the week off, not suspended but personal leave, unpaid. And we will deal with this in house."

Matt nodded, he knew what happened next.

"I think 20 will be appropriate for this." Chief stated. Matt's eyes widened, 20 he'd never received more than 10, shit this was going to hurt.

"Over the desk Casey!" Boden ordered removing his belt from his trousers. Matt moved to the desk and released his own belt allowing his pants to drop.

Whoosh CRACK, CRACK, CRACK CRACK CRACK the first five hit quickly and sharply. Matt let out a gasp as the next swat hit CRACK CRACK CRACK CRACK CRACK. Matt held his breath willing himself not to let any emotion out. The chief stood back allowing Matt to catch his breath, before he rained down the final ten.

"You NeVer" CRACK "remove your" CRACK "safety gear" CRACK "in the" CRACK "middle of a" CRACK "fire" CRACK "not only" CRACK "did you" CRACK "put your own life" CRACK "in danger" CRACK "but that" CRACK "of your candidate" CRACK "and fellow" CRACK "fireman" CRACK "am I clear"

He waited for Casey to answer "yes sir" before bringing the final stroke across his ass CRACK.

Matt wasn't one for crying but he let out a sob, his ass was on fire and he was suspended although unofficially it was still suspended. He gathered himself and stood up standing in front of the chiefs desk.

"Casey, I'm very disappointed in you. I hope that this serves as a reminder for you and I never have to repeat it. Because if there is a next time you'll find yourself officially suspended and being written up, as well as a spanking you'll never forget. Do you understand?" Boden stared at the young Lieutenant with disappointment in his eyes.

"Yes chief! It will never happen again."

"Good. Now Casey, I don't want to see either you or Gabriela here this next week. Take time, look after her and help her back onto her feet. But also think about your professional life and how you are going to make sure there is never a repeat of today." He waited for Casey to respond, but all he managed was a nod of his head. "Give Gabriela my best and I hope she isn't in too much pain."

With that Casey left the office and walked past the squad table, they all watched him as he went knowing what had just happened. Their table was right next to the chiefs office they'd heard ever stroke, Severide was shocked Matt was walking straight. Matt nodded at them and headed towards the common room to collect his girl, he found her sat cuddling Shay, who was protectively stroking her arm.

"Gabby time to go." Matt said trying desperately not to let anyone in the room notice his stiff walk and stance.

"Already" Gabby groaned. Looking at her man, "five more minutes please?" She asked.

"Ok five minutes, I'll be in my office when your ready." He sighed, he could do with putting some cream on his throbbing butt before driving home anyway.

10 minutes later they'd said their goodbyes and were sat in Matt's truck heading home. Matt hadn't said a word since leaving the station, but Gabby could tell by his face he was in pain and obviously had been dealt with in house.

"Babe, you ok?" She asked stroking his leg.

"What? Erm yea." Matt said "sorry, do you want the music on?"

"Matt how bad was it?" Gabby asked concerned.

"Boden was mad! Madder than I think I've ever seen him. He said he was disappointed in me." Matt sighed, Gabby squeezed his knee, she knew that was the worst thing you could hear from some you looked up to and admired as much as Matt did the Chief, it was the same for her when Matt said he was disappointed in her choices. It always cut deeper than him just being mad with her.

"He told me to take the week, as he didn't want to suspend me officially as it'll go on file and he'll have to write me up. So he's basically suspended me by making me take personal leave unpaid" Gabby gasped. "It's ok, that bit I can deal with, his disappointment was clear when he gave me 20 with his belt."

Gabby stared at him mouth open "20?!" She asked shocked, she'd never heard anyone get more than 10 from the chief and she knew from experience that he could light your butt on fire with just a few stokes, 20 would been agony.

"Yup 20." Matt stated.

"How are you sitting?"

"Uncomfortably" Matt joked weakly, "it's very sore, I used some cream in the office though so the sting is easing slightly."

"Matt I'm so sorry.." Gabby started.

"Gabriela, if you say your sorry once more, I swear I don't care how bad your concussion is!" Matt warned.

"Ok, ok. I'm sorry."

Matt gave her a wink.
