Ten minutes later Gabby finally came out of the bedroom. "Ready!" She stated kissing Matt.

One of the guys backed off but the other got in behind Gabby and started to grind, Gabby spun round and pushed him away. "Get off me" she said. They danced happily for the next couple of hours until their feet hurt. "I'm whacked" Gabby finally said. "What time is it?" She pulled her phone out to see several miss calls and texts from Matt.
"How's your night going?"
"Gabby you ok baby?"
"Gabriela can you please respond to me"
"Gabriela, I'm worried."
"Gabby baby if your in a club, then please let me know your ok? If you don't reply I'm texting Shay!"
Gabby showed the phone to Shay, "I've got loads of miss calls too" she shouted above the music. "We best go!"
Shay looked at her own phone "me too, it is almost midnight. Come on let's go."
They made their way towards the exit of the club, ears ringing they ordered a Uber on the app while Gabby text Matt quickly back.
"Hey baby sorry was in the club and didn't hear our phones. We're just leaving now, Uber says 10 minutes out. Be back soon. I love you xoxo"
She pressed send hoping he wasn't going to be too mad that she hadn't responded earlier, she didn't have to wait long to find out.
"That's ok baby, as long as your ok. See you soon xoxo"
Gabby sighed with relief and that was the last thing she remembered before everything went black and she hit the floor.
"Gabby can you hear me?" Shay was leaning over her panic across her face. "Gabs look at me?"
Gabby opened her eyes and looked up at Shay, the cold from the ground biting into her back, she could see someone had been wrestled to the ground not far from her and sirens in the distance. "Gabby are you ok?" Shays voice came again.
"Yea, what happened?" Gabby asked confused.
"He hit you" Shay pointed to the man on the ground, it was the guy from earlier. He was shouting all kinds of obscenities at her.
Gabby stared at Shay "was he waiting for us?"
"I think so, look Gabby, Matts on his way."
"What? How long was I out?"
"Five minutes. Your going to have to go to the hospital, Gabby I'm so sorry. This is all my fault." Shay let the tears flow down her face. Just as the ambulance arrived so did Matt.
"Dawson!" It was Rafferty and McAuley "what happened."
Shay spoke first as Matt ran to Gabby's side. "We were waiting for our cab, and the guy over there hit her from behind, she's just had concussion, she's been off 4 days this is the first time she's been out." Matt stared at Shay. "I've checked her sight and pupils she's following ok, pupils are normal. She was out about five minutes."
Matt went to speak but was interrupted by the arrival of police, he looked up to see Antonio, Gabby's older brother walking towards him "Matt?" He questioned before he saw Gabby lying on the floor "Gabs, you ok?" Looking up at Matt he says "what the hell happened?"
Shay retold the story of what had happened while the paramedics took care of Gabby and moved her into the ambo.
"And this guy, any interaction with him before this?" Antonio asked.
"Unfortunately yes." Replied Shay, looking at Matt. "He tried it on earlier and Gabs told him where to go, he didn't want to let up and his mate dragged him away. He must have waited for us outside. He was calling her all types of names." Shay began to cry again. "I so sorry, this is my fault I suggested a girls night!"
Matt hugged Shay, "this is not your fault, it's that creeps. If I get my hands on him so help him."
"Matt you can't, you've got to let us handle it." Antonio said. "I think they're ready to take her to the hospital. Shay do you want me to take you?"
"It's ok, I'll drive behind" Matt said "let Shay go in the ambo that way I can drive us all home later."
Shay nodded and climbed inside.
"Love you Gabby" Matt shouted as they closed the doors.
Four hours later Gabby was released into Matts care with no concussion but orders to rest up. Shay who had been at her side the entire time hugged her tightly. "Next time I say we stay in" she joked weakly.
"I think that's wise" Gabby joked back "only guy I'll have to fight off is this one" she winked at Matt, who leant down and kissed her forehead.
"Come on you two let's go home."
"No leave me alone!" Gabby cried out before sitting up covered in sweat. She was disoriented and confused for a moment then she felt Matts arms around her and his breath on her neck.
"It's ok baby, your safe we're at home." He pulled her down beside him and spooned her, soothingly stroking her hair. "I've got you, I'm not going to let anyone hurt you ever again."
It had been three days since Gabby was attacked outside the club, they were due back to work tomorrow but Gabby was struggling to sleep. Every night since she'd woken in a cold sweat, shouting. Her attacker was safely behind bars, being held until a judge could review his case. Antonio had told her he was unlikely to serve any time, but there would be measurements put in place to make sure he didn't come near her. This hadn't helped settle Gabby's nervousness though, Matt had come home from a construction job earlier that day to find himself unable to get into the apartment, she locked it tightly shut and put the chain across. When he knocked he heard her jump and drop the pans she was washing. She'd answered the door shaking. Every fibre in her body was scared. He'd never seen her like this before and he really didn't know how to help her.
"Gabby, I think you need to talk to someone."
Gabby looked up at him. "I am, I talk to you." She had a ounce of madness in her voice. "I'm not crazy."
He sat up and turned her to face him. "I know baby, but these dreams, your jumpy and nervous. I'm not sure what to do to help you. Please think about it?" He kissed her forehead, before swinging his legs out of bed and pulling on his sweats. He was too awake now to go back to sleep, he looked at the clock, 5.30am. Gabby followed suit and pulled his CFD T-shirt over her head before heading towards the bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror, Matt had a point, she hadn't left the house since it had happened, there were huge bags under her eyes and her eyes were dim, but over all she was worried about going to work, she was nervous about going out on calls. She'd talk to Shay and see what she thought.
Returning to the bedroom she grabbed her phone and text Shay.
"Hey girl. You ok? Sorry it's early. I hope I didn't wake you!? Can we talk?"
It didn't take long for Shay to reply.
"Hey! Yea of course. Coffee?"
"Hey yea that sounds great. What time?"
"9am?"
"Sure see you at the cafe on the corner?"
"I'll be there. Xoxo"
Gabby smiled, she hoped her bestie could help her out and set things straight in her mind.
"Matt?" She called entering the living area of their apartment "I'm going to grab coffee with Shay at 9, I'm going to jump in the shower ok?"
"Yea, no problem babe." Usually he'd ask if she wanted company but since the incident they'd barely kissed let alone anything else. He busied himself making her favourite breakfast, bacon omelette in a hope she'd eat something today.
"Babe breakfast is ready" he shouted round the corner of the bathroom door.
"Be there in a sec" she said turning the shower off and stepping out.
Matt stared at her, she looked absolutely stunning with her wet hair draped around her shoulders and tiny droplets of water running down her stunning physic.
Gabby ignored him and carried on drying herself. She slipped into her jeans and a tank top then pulled his CFD hoodie over her head. "Matt I love you, but I'm not ready yet" she finally said looking over to where he was stood still staring.
"I know babe, I'm sorry. I just couldn't help looking." He kissed her cheek and took her hand as they walked towards the kitchen. "Made your favorite" he said, presenting her omelette to her.
Gabby took a tiny bite. "Thanks babe, I'm not really hungry."
"Gabby you've got to eat. I can't and won't let you out on truck tomorrow if you've not got any energy." He looked at her seriously and concerned. "Please try and eat it."
Gabby groaned but did as he asked.
"I'm not going to be long today, maybe an hour or so" she said looking at Matt watching her. "You got any plans?"
"I've got to get the quote done for the Harplands" he said "looks like a big job."
"As long as they don't keep you away from me too much" she said kissing him. "Right I best get going don't want to keep Shay waiting too long."
"See you later, love you"
"Love you to baby" she planted a kiss on his check as she grabbed her keys and left the apartment.
Twenty minutes later she arrived at the cafe her and Shay liked to go to, she parked up and went to find their usual table. As she stood at the door, she struggled to find the courage to walk inside. It was busy today and to get to their usual spot she'd have to walk past a lot of people, she shuddered and turned to walk back to the car. Shay appear in front of her.
"Hey girl, you ok?" She looked concerned.
"Yea sorry, just couldn't walk in by myself."
Shay took her hand "come on you'll be ok!"
They walked to their table hand in hand, Gabby gripping tightly to her best friend, nervousness seeking through.
"Usual girls?" Max asked, they had been to the cafe often enough that everyone knew them and their order. Max had been there for years, she knew the girls well and could read the type of day they'd had. "You alright Gabby? You look a little tired."
"Just been a long week" Gabby replied "I'll just have a coffee please Max, Matt made me an omelette before I left."
"I'll have my usual please" Shay said, eyeing Gabby up to see if she'd really eaten or not. She decided to text Matt to make sure.
"Hey man, quick question. Did Gabs eat this morning?" She knew Gabby had been avoiding food these past few days and didn't want old habits to arise, especially now when she'd just got her spot on truck.
"Yup, she ate most of her omelette. I take it she's declining food now?"
"Yup, just ordered coffee, should I make her eat something to?"
"No, don't worry I'll make her eat lunch later."
"Ok cool."
Shay put her phone back in her pocket and turned to her friend.
"So what's up?"
Shay never was one to beat around the bush, straight to business was more her style.
"I can't sleep, I don't want to eat and I'm a nervous wreck. I know he's locked up at the moment. But what about once he's released? What if he comes for me?" Gabby's eyes flashed with fear.
Shay took her hand reassuringly "Gabs the police have got this and there is no way Matt will let anyone near you." Gabby smiled "if you can't sleep or eat then I think we need to book you an appointment with the councilor!" Gabby sighed, she was hoping Shay wouldn't say that. Shay noticed the defeated look in Gabby's eyes "look, it will help. You don't want to slip and get kicked off truck do you? Matt and I are both worried about you."
"Wait! You've spoken to Matt?" Gabby said slightly annoyed.
"Yea, everyday since it happened." She could see Gabby's look change, "I text him to make sure you were ok, and he told me that you weren't doing well. That you weren't eating or sleeping. After that I checked in regularly. You just kept telling me you were fine, and I knew you weren't."
Gabby sat back against the booth, "I'll make an appointment and I'll speak to the chief. See if I can take another week maybe."
Just then Shays food arrived and the conversation changed to what was happening at 51.
"We're all excited to get Casey back tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, Hermann's great but he doesn't take charge like Casey. And the team aren't as well oiled as usual. Boden had Otis and Cruz in his office yesterday. I've never known him dish out as much punishment as he has this week. Maybe Boden just got a taste back for it after Casey's spanking but..."
"Everyone knows?" Gabby interjected, she knew Matt would be mortified. "I'll have to warn him, the guys are sure to rib him about it."
"Squad heard it all" Shay said "Mills said it sounded hard and painful, but Casey barely made a sound. Was it bad?"
Gabby nodded her head "yea, he got 20!"
Shay's mouth dropped open "20!? Man how did he drive home?"
"Sheer determination I think, he barely sat down for two days."
"I'm not surprised. Poor Casey."
"Hey at least he knows what my ass feels like when he lights it up." Gabby smiled.
"True true" Shay nodded "however you asked him to treat you like that, he didn't. I'm not sure he's had many spankings, the guys said they could only think of twice."
"Yup once as candidate, and once as crew member. Then this one, he'd only ever got 10 before. And he wasn't spanked as a kid either."
"That's one hell of a spanking. Chief must have been mad!"
"More disappointed than mad" Gabby said.
Shay finished her bagel and looked at her watch, they'd been talking for two hours.
"Girl I've got to go, I'm on shift at Molly's in half hour. You want to join?"
"No I'm going to head home" Gabby replied smiling "thanks for the talk, it really has helped."
"Anytime" Shay leant forwards and gave her a kiss on the check.
