He lifted the hatch a little and peeked inside, it was difficult to see anything as he didn't want to cause too much disturbance for Marinette.
'I wish I could see her, I can't see anything, I'm gonna wake her in a minute-this is crazy.' The black cladded hero mused to himself.
Chat Noir was very aware that his Kwami would be getting very low in energy and needed some food to keep this going. He quietly shut the hatch and sat on the floor.
"Claws in,"
Adrien, took the rather smelly cheese from his pocket and he handed it over quickly to an exhausted looking Plagg. The little black God hastily devoured the wedge in one mouthful, before looking seriously at his chosen.
"Kid," Plagg started, "I know you're really wanting to do this now but surely wait until you've had some rest, let her rest-" Plagg reasoned with him. Adrien Looked at his Kwami.
'I knew this was serious but I didn't realise that Plagg was going to be the voice of reason.'
"Uhm... you're right Plagg I-"
Adrien heard the familiar sound of Ladybug's yo-yo, it was getting closer, it was so quiet the noise cut through the air.
'Quick-hide-shadows, I don't want to do this now...how would I explain being on here as ME. I'm such an idiot!' Adrien knew a transformation now would only draw more attention to him. He had found a shaded area behind a chair in the corner, luckily it was dark otherwise it would have been really easy to spot him, he was able to obscure his face with a plant, he could see the hatch, he waited a few moments.
Ladybug landed in front of him, several feet away from him, in his regular attire. Butterflies were going crazy inside him, fear, excitement, regret, love, longing... so many emotions flowing through his body at this very moment. His heart pounding so hard he thought she would be able to hear it.
'Her face-she's been crying. I can't comfort her, I need to be there for her but how THE HELL do I explain this now without everything coming out-'
"Spots off"
'OhmygoshohmygoshohMYGOSH! I have never felt like this about another person... I never will.'
All the negative emotion dispersed from his body, love consumed him. He could feel his palms perspiring, he was shaking, adrenaline coursing through his veins. Marinette had started to make her way through her roof hatch, face tear stained, eyes blood shot. She was exhausted by emotion.
'M'Lady, Bugaboo, Princess-Marinette.' He smiled to himself, as the pieces came together in his mind.
He could just see the top of her head disappearing into her room when she stopped. Her head poked back up, her eyes flickered around.
"Hello?" Marinette questioned her roof terrace, apprehensively looking around the roof terrace and extending her search area over neighbouring roofs. By getting fully back out of the hatch, she could get a better look.
He watched her in slow motion, trying his best not to move. His eyes fixated on Marinette as she scanned the surrounding area. 'My heart is pounding so fast, I'm sure she can hear it, did she hear my thoughts or did they escape me again.'
Marinette, narrowed her eyes as she continued scanning the area while questioning herself. 'I'm sure I just heard my name, I can't see anyone around, who the hell would've been up here anyway-there's only one person who ever used this entrance-'
Adrien froze.
Marinette was rooted to the spot.
Their eyes met, both wide eyed with shock, panic, fear, and disbelief.
'Shit. What the HELL do I do?' Adrien panicked internally.
"A-Adrien?" She looked horrified. 'I've just transformed, he must have seen, what is he doing here-how did he get here- He looks upset, his cheeks are stained with tears. What's wrong?'
All thoughts of her exposing her identity vanished as soon as she had seen how distressed he was. Without thinking she stepped towards him, moved the chair out of the way, and embraced him. No hesitation. He was still frozen on the spot, only moving his arms into an awkward position not knowing what to do.
A moment passed, still being embraced by Marinette, Adrien relaxed, rested his head on hers and wrapped his arms around her.
'This feels right, she smells so good, so warm and comforting. This is how it could be with her...M'Lady' He hoped internally before remembering, 'Luka though.'
A few more moments passed, they were motionless, enjoying the feel of each other so close. Marinette started tearing again, tears of joy and relief that this was not one sided as she buried her face into his chest. Adrien had not pulled away when he had been embraced by Marinette, on the contrary, he had returned the hug and embraced her also.
"Marinette," Adrien was finally able to speak. "I know."
Marinette pulled away so she could look at his face, there was no sadness in his eyes, he was looking at her adoringly.
"I know," she replied. "You're...erm..."
Even though Marinette had worked it out, seeing him there as Adrien, knowing the only person who had ever used her balcony to visit her was Chat Noir, she couldn't say it. They shared a smile, the question on both of their minds though:
'What happens next?'
"Nino! Did you see that!" Alya exclaimed, tugging on his sleeve.
"Alya, it looks pretty serious," Neno observed, "I don't think this is something that should be put on the blog-"
"Nino he's heading to Marinette's!" Shock was present in her voice.
Alya and Neno had been having a quiet bite to eat down the street from the park. As the stars were out, they decided to take a romantic stroll through the park on the way home as it was such a beautiful night.
Alya had her phone in her hand, taking a selfie of her and Nino for their date night, when she had witnessed Ladybug quickly emerge from the trees on the other side of the park. She could be seen exiting the park as fast as she could go. Chat Noir had followed, his arm outstretched after her. Clearly distressed, he fell to his knees, his face cradled in his hands.
The bells of Notre Dame chiming in the distance, Alya looked at her phone and realised she had already, automatically, started recording live to her Lady Blog!
'Nooo! Turn it off!' Alya fumbled with her phone for a moment or two and eventually managed to remove the video as soon as she could, but the damage had been done.
"Bloody hell Al," Nino was stumped. "What can you do?" He looked worried, "did it pick up you saying about him heading to Marinette's?"
Alya looked down astonished at her phone. "It's an automatic reflex," she defended her actions, "it's something I've always done to get the first scoop."
"How many views did it get before you took it down?" He grimaced.
"F-Fourteen."
"Let's hope none of them managed to get a copy before you took it down."
