Dread began to fill her chest as she inched into her parking space. Conner had come home. She was honestly hoping she could gather her things and be out before he got home. Maybe leave him a note to meet her at a coffee shop when he got back. She knew what she was doing was right. She had no doubt that Spence was who she was meant to be with, but the idea of having to tell Conner and then have to gather her things was painful. Maybe she would just pack a small bag and get the rest of her things at a later date. Trudging up the stairs she swung their apartment door open to find Conner sitting there with two other guys. "Conner? I see you finally came home. Who are these guys?" His face scrunched as she shut this door. It looked like he was smelling the air. "Where have you been Brianna. I was worried sick." Conner spit that last part out at her. "Can we not? We have guests over apparently. Hi...I'm Brianna." She looked past him to the guys sitting on the couch realizing she knew one of them. "They know who you are. Now where were you." "Conner! That is extremely rude." "TELL ME!" Conner screamed at her from across the room making her jump. "I was out. You had been gone for days. I needed to get out of the apartment."
He was off the couch in a second striding towards her. "Lies! I can smell him all over you! So, tell me Brianna. Did you enjoy fucking him? Did you enjoy fucking that male you slut?!" Brianna slapped him across the face, as hard as she possibly could. "How...dare you! How fucking dare, you! You left ME Conner. You left with no note and you haven't spoken to me in days. And now you show up with an audience?! What...did you think if you brought your buddies over, I wouldn't make a scene?! Well guess what...you just made this a lot easier. We're through. I wanted to have a civilized conversation with you, but you made sure that wouldn't happen. I'm done Conner. I'm leaving." "You think you are breaking up with me?!" "I don't think...I know. And guess what. Ya...I enjoyed fucking him, and I'm going to go and do it again. Right now."
She felt vile screaming that at him. She had not planned on tell him about Spence. At least not that part. She was going to try and break it off as kindly as she could. She was going to tell him she didn't love him anymore and that she was leaving, but he had set her off. Trying to get away from the situation she broke past him into their bedroom and began throwing things into the first bag she could find. "Well I am glad I finally got to see the real you Brianna. And guess what...you just made it a whole lot easier for me too. Grab her." Hands grappled her as she tried to fight his friends off, but they were a lot stronger than they looked. The fear across her face and the pain in her eyes must have softened Conner's resolve slightly because the anger in his voice dropped slightly as he spoke. "I truly am sorry this had to go this way Brianna. I do love you, but I can't hold off any longer. Maybe you will be happy." The sharp sting of a needle spread from her shoulder as she felt the drug being pushed into her body. The men's grip never loosened as she began to slip away. "No...Conner...please..." "Just let the drug take effect Brianna. It will be over soon enough." Her head began to swim as Spence's face filled her thoughts. He would think she changed her mind. He would think she left him. "Spence...yours...i love you..."
Pain ripped through Conner as she mumbled those last words. He knew it wasn't for him. He knew it was for that male. She may not be his mate but it pained him to know that he was ripping her from her own. If only that male had been smart enough to mark her. Maybe this wouldn't have happened. Maybe he could have let her go, but now he can't. If he tried his beta would surely kill him and take her anyways. Kyle scooped her up and over his shoulder motioned that they needed to leave. "Alpha is not going to be happy. I can smell that male all over her." He just nodded his head as they loaded her into the van. Conner scooped her head into his lap as he climbed into the back with her. The other wolf from his pack began to tie her hands and feet together in case she woke up before they got her to their destination. Stroking her hair out of her face he imagined the idea of her actually being his mate.
He had fallen for her the moment they met, but his wolf knew...his wolf knew that she was not his. Still they both enjoyed their time with her. Watching her through the years. When his Alpha had demanded he bring her to him he tried to shake her, but she wanted to go with. She had loved him. Had...the key word there. Even if this Spence wasn't in the picture there was no way she could love him now. Not now that he is sacrificing her to his Alpha, and she didn't even know why. He had tried once. He had tried to get her to shift but she just thought he meant move. The only person that could command her wolf was her alpha or her mate. So at least now he would be able to see how beautiful her wolf would be. Because he knew it was something Kodi desperately wanted. To dominate the Artic wolf within.
Conner had picked his apartment specifically because how close it was to the center of their pack. So, it did not take long for them to reach Kodi's house. Most of the pack was there. Wanting to see the new she-wolf Conner had brought. The new meat he had brought for the pack. Obviously, it would be a while before they got ahold of her. Alpha would make sure that he was able to get the most out of her genes before he handed her over, but the temptation was still there for them to want a good look at her. She began to mumble again and Conner knew that they didn't have much time before she woke up. Those kinds of drugs did not last long in a wolf's system, and she was pure. "Hurry. She's waking up. Alpha wanted to be the first thing she saw." Kyle scrambled from his seat and flung open the back door gathering the female in his arms. Conner and the other wolf followed quickly behind pushing through the throng surrounding the house. There stood their Alpha towering over the entrance waiting. Waiting for her. Keeping his eyes to the ground he could tell they were going to the room set up specifically for her. He heard Kyle grunt as he placed her on the floor and swapped her rope leads for steal. They couldn't have her escaping now could they.
Kodi walked into the room and up to Brianna taking her hair into his hands. After a big inhale he growled. "What did you do Conner?" "I didn't do anything alpha." "Then why...DOES SHE SMELL LIKE ANOTHER MALE?!" He was livid striding towards Conner and slamming him into the floor with a shove. "Alpha..." "I TOLD you to bring her to me sooner. She has been with another! What if he had marked her?!" Conner cowered showing his neck and belly as he would if he was in his wolf form. Kodi could kill him either way, but maybe this would trigger his alpha reflexes into calming down. "Clean her up. I don't want to smell another on her when I come back." With a swift kick Conner doubled over in pain watching the three leave and shut the door.
He heard Brianna moan through the pounding in his ears. Quickly Conner scurried across the floor to try and comfort her. Stroking her hair, he pulled her head against his chest. "Spence..." she mumbled trying to get her head on straight as she looked up at him. "Conner...?" Remembering what happened and pushed away from him with a growl. She didn't get far though as the chains tethering her to the wall clinked taught. "What in the hell! First you drug me and now you chain me up?!" He reached for her but she bared her teeth. "Brianna please...let me explain." "DONT TOUCH ME!" She retracted from his touch once again pulling harder on the restraints. "That is only going to hurt you Bri..." "Don't call me that! Never call me that again!" Conner pulled his hand back and collapsed in on himself. "I'm sorry. I told you not to come." "Not to come?! You drugged me! How was I supposed to resist!" "No...to come to Colorado. I tried to get you to stay with your family where you were safe." This only riled her up more. "You drugged me and chained me up and now you are blaming me for moving?! What the hell is your problem Conner?! You sick sadistic sack of shit!" "I didn't tie you up." She narrowed her eyes at him. "Then who did Conner." "My beta." "Your what?! I think you have finally lost it. That must be it."
Defeated Conner fell back against the wall watching her struggle. It was finally time that he showed her what he was. What she was. It was something he had dreaded from day one. A wolf that had never had never shifted was dangerous enough to it's self as it was. Let alone one that was terrified. If he triggered her in anyway it could break her. If she was not able to accept it and it forced a shift, she would either die or never come back to human form. It was one of the biggest reasons he never wanted her to meet his Alpha. "I will tell you everything if you just calm down Brianna. I need you calm." "I am never going to calm down. I am going to fight you till my last breath." "If you keep fighting it could kill you." "Oh...now your threatening to kill me. Seriously Conner what happened to you? What happened to the man I loved?" Conner let out a pained chuckle. "Loved"
Brianna diverted her eyes. Of course, she didn't love him anymore, but they both knew it wasn't because he kidnapped her. Knowing this she stopped struggling. "I can promise you one thing Brianna. I have never wanted to hurt you. I may be the reason you are in this mess, but I will do what I can to make it easier." He wouldn't even look at her letting the pregnant pause fill the room. The Conner she knew was telling her the truth, as ridiculous as that sounded even to her. "Then explain why I am here Conner. If you never want to hurt me why am I chained to a wall?" She jangled the chains for emphasis. "Because he doesn't want you to escape." "Who...your Beta?" The word sounded foreign on her tongue, had Conner joined a gang? "No. My Alpha." He finally looked at her and she could feel the terror in his eyes. He was afraid of whoever this Alpha guy was. "Your...alpha? What the hell does that even mean? Is he like the leader of your gang?" "Pack. Not gang. I need you to listen very carefully Brianna. It is very important that you understand what's going on." Pack? There was that word again.
Brianna flinched as he moved but he didn't advance towards her. Only leaning to make sure she could look him directly into the eyes. "There is something very different about you Brianna, about you, me, alpha, that Spence you are spending time with." Baring her teeth reflexively she growled at Spence's name on his tongue. "I never told you Brianna because I never wanted you to know. I never wanted to lose you." "What Conner. What could possibly make it so you would lose me." She snapped at him just waiting for the ridiculous reason he kidnapped her and tied her to a wall. "I really am not sure the best way to explain this to you. So, I am just going to show you. Because you won't believe me otherwise." Conner stood and watched him incredulously until he began to undress. She began to panic and tried to get away. He stood in front of her as naked as the day he was born and she was sure he planned to rape her. How could she have trusted him? How could she...and then Conner began to transform. Quickly it was not Conner standing before her but a brown wolf. A scream bubbled in her throat as the wolf began to stalk towards her and she fainted.
Someone was hold her when she came to. Conner was crying and hold her head in his lap stroking her hair. Brianna screamed and skittered back across the floor away from him. "Wha...wha...you're a wolf?!" He just nodded bringing his knees to his chest and running his hands through his hair. "WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK CONNER?!" "please...don't yell...they will come back..." He looked at her and she saw the black eye forming. "Were they here? Did they hit you?" His voice was shaky as he tried to form words. "Alpha was angry that I shifted in front of you. He was angry that I told you what you were, but I couldn't risk you not knowing Brianna. I couldn't let you die!" She began to shake with rage. Rage at the fact Conner had never told her. Rage at the fact he thought this made sense. And weirdly enough rage at the fact they had beaten him. "What do you mean not let me die? Are they going to kill me?!" Conner shook his head again. "No. But your first shift might." "My...are you going to turn me in to a wolf?!" She began to pull on the chains again. "Brianna please! Be quiet!" He scrambled across the floor pinning her beneath him. "Please, I am not going to hurt you. Please just listen." His hand was across her mouth to keep her from screaming, so to show that she was willing to at least listen she halted her movements.
Conner did not move off of her but continued to speak. "You have to be born a wolf. No one can turn you like that. You have to be born a wolf like me, Alpha, you." Brianna froze and then just began to laugh. Conner moved his hand to let her speak. "I get it now...your fucking crazy. They must have put some type of hallucinogen in that drug. You have lost your god damn mind!" "Brianna!" His voice was sharp and commanding. "I am not lying. You are a wolf. I smelled it on you the day we met. Your parents were wolves. Your grandparents. You are a wolf like me." Brianna pushed him off her and he let her rolling to his back. "What's funny is I fell for you before I even knew you didn't know about your wolf. By then I was set to help you live the rest of your life in complete bliss, but then my Beta came to visit. You remember him? Kyle? Ya well he figured out what you really were. And my Alpha had to have you. What's funny is I always knew you were special. But one of the last of your kind never crossed my mind."
"Last of my kind?" "Artic wolves are rare Brianna. Very rare. We actually don't even know if your pack survived. The fact that your parents were dead and no one from your pack came to rescue you. We just don't know." Tears began to stream down her face as she remembered her parents. And then it hit her. She remembered something. She remembered the wind whipping past her face. She remembered the feeling of fur under her fingers. She remembered the sound of howling behind her. Her parents were wolves. They were trying to escape...something. "My parents..." "yep...we are pretty sure there are more artic wolves out there but no one can find them. I actually tried once. You remember that long business trip I took to Canada? I was trying to find anyone who could keep you safe. Because I knew I couldn't. Once Kyle found out who you were. I couldn't keep you safe." A sobbing laugh came from Conner's throat. "I wasn't strong enough for you Brianna. I left you hoping you would come to your senses. Hoping your wolf would realize I wasn't right for you. Then you found him, but even he didn't have the sense to mark you. To keep you safe from us." "mark me? What are you talking about?"
She watched as he pushed himself to a seated position still not looking at her. "It's something I could never bring myself to do. It's making you my mate for life. By doing it I could have maybe protected you, but my wolf loved you. He knew it wasn't right to take your future away from you. Little did he know you would find your mate in Colorado of all places." "My mate? Do you mean Spence? How could you possibly know that?" Conner just shrugged. "I know you Brianna. You've known that male all of what...two...three weeks? It took you almost 6 months to tell me you loved me. And even then, I knew it was something you thought you HAD to say. It wasn't probably till about a year in that you actually meant it. But with that male. You said you loved him the moment you realized you may never see him again." Brianna began to tear up. He was right. She knew she loved Spence even before that day at the bar.
"I was hoping the male would mark you and take you into his pack. I never expected him to let you wander back into my life." "Wait...what are you saying." "Your male...he's a wolf too. It's why I got so angry when I smelt him on you. In fact, a lot of your new coworkers are wolves as well. I'm pretty sure your boss is his Alpha." "Spence...Mavis...Lawrence...her mate..." All the comments from Mavis came rushing back. Lawrence being her mate. Them being in a pack. The cursed thirst. It was all the things she had just written off. "There you go. There is that recognition. Now come on. I need to get you showered. He is going to kill me if he smells that male on you again."
Still in shock she lets Conner pull her off the floor as he gathers her binds and unlinks them from the wall. She began to cry as he ran the bath with warm water and led her to step in. She was weak from both the crying and new knowledge racking her brain. Brianna let Conner wash her with a rag and roughly scrub her skin and hair removing as scent of Spence. As he wrapped her in a towel, she collapsed on the floor sobbing. "Shhhh...don't cry Brianna. Please." He tried to comfort her but nothing was working. Defeated he carried her to the small bed in the room and reattached the links to a new hook.
"I'm sorry I have to do this Brianna. I know it makes no sense but I can't say no to my Alpha when he demands it." Her voice broke as she spoke. "What is he planning to do to me? Why am I being chained to a bed Conner?" "He plans to breed you. He is going to mark and breed you to bring new, stronger, blood into the pack." "You're going to let him rape me..." Her eyes shot open staring into his soul. "I don't have a choice. Either I help him or he kills me. Either way he takes you. This way maybe I can save you some suffering. Maybe he will let me take care of you when this is all over."
Brianna spit in his face. "Your pathetic. A real man would die for someone he claimed to love before letting this happen. Get out of here. I never want to see you again." Conner hung his head and left the room. Kodi and Kyle sat on the couch in the living room laughing as he walked in. "Is she clean?" "She no longer smells of the other male." "Good. Kyle. Bring her some food. And make sure there is plenty of meat. The first shift can be the hardest." He gave a knowing smirk to Kyle before turning his attention back to Conner. "As for you. I want you out of my sight. Maybe I will let you see her again in the future but I don't want to see you in my home for a while. You weak excuse for a male."
Tail tucked between his legs Conner turned to leave as he heard the door to her room open. Kyle was not prepared for the fountain of swears she threw in his direction. Or how strong her kicks and bites were. Both Kodi and Conner her the smack from the other room as Kyle struck her. "Keep your hands off of her Kyle!" Alpha yelled from the couch still not moving. "She bit me!" "Then I will deal with her when I get in there. Just leave the plate. Didn't I tell you to get out of my sight?"
Conner scampered out to the car, the sound of her getting slapped ringing in his ears. Sure, he was mad when he found out she had been with the other male while they were still together. Could he blame her though? It was her mate. He knew that slap wasn't even the worst that would happen to her in there. His Alpha was not a kind male. Who even knows if she would survive a mating let alone the birth of his pups? He's been known to hit even a pregnant woman before, and that was someone who bowed to him as alpha. Knowing Brianna...she never would. He hit his steering wheel letting out a string of curses. He's just signed her death warrant. All because he couldn't handle the thought of leaving his pack. He needed to fix this. He typed an address into the GPS and took off down the road leading away from his alphas.
