It's been 2 weeks since the incident and the guilt everyone felt was immeasurably. Everyone failed her as friends and mentors. But most of all they had failed as the elements and the pain was eating them alive.
Apple family farm
She had failed Starlight. Failed to stop her failed to help her what kind of pony was she. Walking down into her cellar Applejack grabbed a six pack of hard cider and sat at the kitchen table. Just then her little sister Applebloom walks into the room.
Sis why are you drinking? Asks Applebloom from the doorway.

NO! Yelled Applejack ya can't Applebloom not on this... not this time.
This isn't something you can help with. Now please leave me be. Applejack said holding her head in her hoof.
I...I'm... ok I'll come back another time. Applebloom said quietly walking to the front door and stepping outside. To say she was shocked was an understatement. Applejack had never yelled at her like that before and it hurt.
Inside Applejack takes another swig as she tries to stop the voice of Starlight apologizing to her on that cliff.

"I'm sorry i failed ya please forgive me" Applejack thinks taking another long swig from the bottle finishing it before grabbing another.
With spike
I was still in bed. It was almost noon but i didn't care. All i could think about was Starlight and how i could've done more. Twilight has been trying to talk to me for... i don't know 3 hours now i keep ignoring her but it's getting annoying.
Twilight just leave me alone already i say rolling over turning my back to her again.
Come on spike i know it's hard but-
"No you don't!! No don't you dare say you know what it's like." Spike yells getting up. "I watched her jump, i was splashed with her blood when she landed! What did you do?!"
Twilight was now backing away as spike advanced and continued to yell. "Applejack was up there she failed, i failed, and you failed". We Failed her! Spike yelled Twilight back hitting the wall. Your a disgrace and all you care about is yourself! Twilight could see fire burning in his eyes. This sent waves of fear through her.
Spike then backs off grabbing a suitcase. Where are you going?, asked Twilight.
Why do you care? Spike asked back walking past Twilight shoving her aside. I'm going to Rarity's don't follow me.
Twilight was now alone again her little step brother\son who she had raised had called her a disgrace and left her. As tears left her eyes and she collapsed she asked herself what was she going to do now?
With Sunburst
Sunburst hadn't been seen outside of his house since the incident. It was suspected that the guilt of failure had driven him over the edge.
He felt like he was nothing. Oh who was he kidding he couldn't feel anymore. He hurt his childhood friend and now she was laying in a hospital bed in a coma. He took another drink out of his sixth bottle sitting in the corner of his living room. Just drinking that's all he did now.
"Thump thump thump"
A knock sounds from the door the sound reverberates through the silent house. Then a voice sounds out.
"Sunburst"? Sunburst it's Cadence i need to speak to you.
Nothing she expected this.
"Sunburst it's about Starlight Glimmer she-" the door bursts open the wood splintering from the force as it hits the wall. Shocked Cadence stops talking and stares at Sunburst in surprise.
"What is it?! Is she ok?! Is she-"
Candace shoves a hoof in his mouth shitting him up.
"Do you want to know or not?" Sunburst slowly nods and she takes her hoof off.
