almost warmed up on a chilly night
It was a chilly night. Azula's skin broke out in gooseflesh as she stood with her bare feet in the cold, moonlit sand. It looked so pure and white beneath the stars above. Ty Lee swayed in the wind a few feet behind the princess. Mai and Zuko were off somewhere together – probably making out – and it was the two girls alone together again.
"Prin... Princess..." said Ty Lee, oddly quiet, oddly reserved. Neither girl had any idea why she lost her bubbly sickeningly sweet confidence from time to time, always when she spoke to Azula. "Can I ask you something?"
"Spit it out," coldly replied Azula, examining her nails. They glistened under the night sky.
"Do you want to go for a walk. I love walks on the beach. They're so romantic." Ty Lee caught herself and wanted to scream. "Not that there's anything romantic with us. I don't, I don't think there is, right?"
Azula did not reply. She gazed out at the beach. She wanted nothing more than to go for a walk with Ty Lee through the chilly night, warming up with each step, warming up to each other with each step. Maybe being daring. Maybe kissing beside the waves that gently lapped against the shore.
"It's cold." Azula walked away. Her heart pounded in her chest.
She wanted to turn around.
She didn't.
