almost started a family

The baby had no heartbeat.

Ty Lee held her as tightly as she could. She pressed the infant against her chest and held back tears. She was not the kind of person who cried but she did not know who could handle this.

Azula abandoned her the moment the midwife declared the baby was dead, apologized, and told her that she did all she could but there was nothing she could do.

Ty Lee could hear her destroying the nursery, sobbing, screaming, burning. Azula was tearing the room they prepared for their little one into violent shreds and empty black and white ashes.

Black and white. That was a good description.

As the little one became colder and colder against Ty Lee's chest, she finally began to cry, because it felt like the entire world had been drained of color.

The baby had no heartbeat.
