The Bells of Notre Dame rang out signalling half-past the hour. The new spandex cladded couple made their way into a dark alley and transformed back to their everyday selves. Walking hand in hand, slowly, they made their way to the park for a romantic stroll talking all the way about the day's events. Lots of smiling, many a sweet kiss given to the other, plenty of blushing and cuddling in as they walked.
"I think you should speak to Kagami," Marinette grimaced as she suggested this to Adrien. He looked uncomfortable, he knew he needed to address the situation at some point but he did not want to talk about it now. "I think I had best speak to Luka too." She added.
'I forgot about him. Is he still on the scene after all we've said in the past however many hours?' Adrien looked deflated as he wondered quietly.
She seen it in his eyes as he looked away, she reached for his cheek, caressing his face as he adverted her gaze, trying to hide his emotions from her.
"We broke up a few weeks ago," she told him. "Not many people knew because I've been conscious of his and Juleka's feelings."
Adrien looked at her with relief and admiration, having the respect for others is one of the reasons he loved her.
"You have been going through your own stuff and-and I asked Nino not to say anything to you," she started. He hugged her close, "I didn't want you to feel like you had to check on me...we used to be really close-" She started spiralling, and Adrien knew how to stop this.
Adrien kissed her unexpectedly and stopped her dead in her train of thought. "Better?" He asked with a flirtatious grin back on his face.
"Thanks," she exhaled, "definitely an effective remedy." Marinette chuckled into his chest, she could hear his heart beat, so took a moment to listen. This, she also found, was another effective method of calming her down.
"Are you cold?" He asked.
"Only if you want to warm me up!" Marinette had a grin on her face, as she slipped her arm under his jacket.
"So what happened-" He cleared his throat, "-with Luka then?" Adrien was cautious when asking, he didn't want to pry, but wanted to make sure that there was no chance this could crumble around him.
As they strolled down the street Marinette told him how it had ended. Marinette was very kind when speaking about Luka, as inevitably, it was her heart singing the tune for Adrien and not Luka. There were no hard feelings from either party in their separation, and Adrien found this relieving.
"So why speak to him then?" He queried.
"It's only fair to warn him," she replied. "I don't want any unnecessary reason for an Akuma to take hold of anyone."
Adrien understood her good intentions, he couldn't help but feel the compassion Marinette had for others. He was in awe of her.
"So we tackle them both tomorrow," she concluded.
"First thing tomorrow, after breakfast," he turned to his love. "Would you like to join me for breakfast?" With a cheeky wink he continued, "there's this wonderful bakery just around the corner and the family are the kindest I have ever met."
"Sounds wonderful," she smiled at him, blushing not so discreetly.
"I don't want this night to end-"
"OH. MY. GOODNESS!"
The familiar voice of Alya could be heard from the other side of the park. Of course her and Nino had also been walking to the park.
'This where the video was taken.' Marinette chuckled to herself, Adrien knew what she was chuckling about and hollered towards their friends while pulling Marinette closer. relieved that they had been able to put things right.
"The cats definitely out of the bag now M'Lady!" He kissed her cheek.
An ecstatic Alya ran towards them, pulling a dumbfounded Nino in their direction, gobsmacked at the scene in front of them.
"Finally!" Alya exclaimed, pure excitement and joy was showing on her face and in her body language. She embraced the new love birds both around their necks, the Notre Dame bells chiming in the distance. "I am so happy for you both!"
"Congrats Dudes!" Nino joined in, also with a smile on his face, beaming at the two of them.
"Thanks...guys," Marinette said to her friends as Alya released them both from her tight embrace. "It's been a bit of a whirlwind."
Adrien snuggled her in again, it was a rather cold night in the breeze and he was conscious that Marinette didn't have her coat.
"I'm gonna have to get going," Adrien said, he looked gutted but he knew he had to get back to his house before it was noticed that he was gone.
'I want you to stay again...or not again...I just want you with me.' Marinette also looked gutted at this news.
"Dude, why don't you tell your dad that I'm home alone and you're coming round to keep me company." Nino suggested, trying to help, obviously winking at the two of them.
"I don't think that's going to work," he replied, "thanks anyway," Adrien was downhearted in his response.
"Let's give these two a minute..." Alya cheekily glanced at them as she guided Nino away from them.
'How do I tell him to come to mine and we'll sort it in the morning.'
'How do ask to stay with her and deal with my father tomorrow.'
"Could you come back?" Marinette knew it wasn't likely. Searching his eyes for the response she longed for.
It was gone ten o'clock and it was way too late to swing the staying at a friends house excuse.
'She wants me to be with her just as much as I want her with me.'
Butterflies in his stomach, he embraced her tightly whispering in her ear, "I'll try my best." A cheeky look in his forrest green eyes, he gazed down at her. "When we want something so badly," he looked her straight in the eye, "we can usually make it happen."
He kissed her soft lips tenderly but with passion. They only broke when the sounds of wolf whistles were coming in their direction, curtesy of Alya and Nino. He took her hand and pressed his lips against her skin, turned and jogged off. He looked back several times before disappearing to become Chat Noir once again. Marinette stared longingly after him and let out the biggest sigh filled with happiness, relief and contempt. She had found her way to her Kitty, finally.
