It was a long weekend for Gabby, Matt was busy with the construction job which meant she was home alone. He'd locked the drawer with her phone and laptop in and told her not to even attempt to get to them, she knew he was serious. He'd made her call the girls before taking it on Thursday night, telling her she couldn't drop out of plans by text and she was going to explain to them why she was ducking out. It had been embarrassing for her to make the phone calls but she knew that it was all part of the punishment. Her ass hurt more than it ever had, she had made a silent promise to herself never to smoke again, and if she did ever give in to the temptation she vowed not to get caught. By Saturday evening she was going crazy, she didn't know if Shay and Stella had still gone out or not and she was pissed that she had to miss out if they had. Matt was working late so she'd cleaned every inch of the small apartment and by eight o'clock she admitted defeat and started to get herself ready for bed.

Climbing in and bringing the comforter up around her shoulders she settled down to read her book when the knocking on the door started. "Gabs" it was Antonio "Gabs you in?" She crawled out of bed and pulled a hoodie on Over the top of her tank top, and slipped into a pair of joggers, she didn't want to risk him seeing the marks down the backs of her thighs. Although he was aware of the relationship she had she didn't want to have to explain to him why she'd been spanked this time.

"I'm coming" she shouted as he banged the door again. Swinging it open to find him stood there with a bag. "Hey what's up?"

"I've been trying to call you?" He said raising his eyebrow "why didn't you answer?"

"Sorry Tonio I.. Erm..." she sighed there was no way to not tell him. "Matt caught me smoking and took my phone."

"You what!?" Antonio's face spoke a thousand words "Gabby I thought you'd kicked the habit?"

"I did" she said dropping her eyes to the ground.

"Then why?"

"Can we not do this in the doorway?" She asked, embarrassed that the neighbours could probably hear her being dressed down by her brother.

"Sure. But we are talking about this!" He said stomping into the apartment and across to the kitchen.

She groaned as she locked the door, Antonio had never liked her smoking in the first place and had been over the moon when she'd given up.

"So" he said staring her down making her shiver slightly, his gaze seemed to pierce through her and she knew he was disappointed and confused. "Why?"

"I've just been having a rough time." She said brushing it off "it wasn't a big deal."

"Clearly it was a big deal." He said sitting down and tucking into his food "Matt doesn't take your phone for no reason Gabby!"

"I know" her eyes hit the floor again to embarrassed to look her brother in the eye. She slowly sat down on the wooden chair at the breakfast bar next to her brother and immediately regretted it, hissing loudly as her ass hit the unforgiving hard surface.

"I'd say Matt was less than impressed to" Antonio questioned as he saw her pained face.

"What gave it away?" She asked sarcastically.

"Oh I don't know, the joggers, the way your walking, the hiss you just made while sitting."

Gabby never wore joggers around the apartment, always her sleep shorts so he had insistently guessed she been spanked recently when she opened the door wearing them.

"Ok. Yea I guess you could say he was less than happy."

"How long?"

"Pardon?"

"How long have you been smoking again?" He clarified.

"3 months give or take."

"So before the wedding, roughly since your melt down."

"Just before." She admitted.

"Ok I get it, but Gabby you could have spoken to one of us or even asked for help."

"I know."

"How long did he ground you for?" He knew that was the only time she lost her phone, and the fact that she was at home alone, appearingly ready for bed, and not at Molly's with the girls was a huge give away that his sister had found herself grounded once more.

"Just the weekend." She admitted, hating every second of the uncomfortable conversation she was being made to have. She was twenty eight and grounded like a teenager, that was embarrassing enough without having to discuss it with her big brother.

"You got lucky."

"Trust me my ass disagrees." She spat.

"No need to give me attitude!" He shot back "I mean I can go and leave you all lonely?"

"No please. I'm sorry." She said looking up at him for the first time in the entire conversation "I've been going crazy stuck here all day by myself with nothing to do."

"Yea, well speak to me nicely or I'll take the food and go" he teases.

She smacks his arm and changes the conversation to what's going on in his life. He tells her all about a recent case they'd been working, and how Diego had got himself into some bother at school. She asked about Eva suddenly aware that she hadn't actually heard from her niece since the wedding.

"Is she still grounded?"

"Oh yes!" Antonio nodded "things went from bad to worse with her. I caught her in a car with a boy I knew nothing about."

Gabby averted her gaze.

"Gabby?" He questioned, he knew that look that was the she knew something look. "What do you know that I don't?"

"Well, don't be mad?" He nodded "Eva kinda told me about this guy she's been seeing."

"What?"

"You said you wouldn't get mad."

"Sorry." He said "continue"

"Well when you asked me to talk to her about her behaviour before the wedding she told me about him. I said I wasn't happy because she'd been skipping class to see him. But." She spotted Antonio's face changing the more she spoke. "Look she's young and thinks she's in love, I told her I'd speak to you with her but with everything that's been going on I kinda forgot." She admits. "So what's been happening?"

"Well her marks at school have improved, she's still had far too many detentions, and then I found her in the car."

"Wait who's car?" Gabby asked confused, Eva was thirteen she couldn't drive and none of her friends could either.

"His!" Antonio said matter of factly.

"Wait he's old enough to drive?" Gabby was shocked, no wonder Eva didn't want to tell her dad.

"Yup apparently he's seventeen. So I grounded her to the end of time and banned her from seeing him."

Gabby raised her eyebrows, that line sounded familiar. She shook her head remembering the time her dad had found her with a guy a lot older than her. "You do realise you soon like dad right!" He said.

"Whatever Gabby! She thirteen." His temper was starting to bubble over.

"I know Antonio. But do you not remember what happened when dad banned me from seeing Bryan?"

He shook his head remembering the painful search when Gabby had run away after Ramon grounded her and forbid her to ever see Bryan again. "Gabs he was my age! Dad was well within his rights and completely just in his punishment."

"Yea and now I'm older I see that but at the time I hated him and ended up running straight into Bryan's arms, which ended so badly."

Antonio rubbed his hand across his brow "yea I remember." He sat staring for a moment "do you think Matt will let you come with me if I call him?"

"Where to?"

"To see Eva, I think I need to speak to her properly."

"You can ask, but you'll have to call him." Gabby patted her pockets "no phone remember."

Antonio chuckled, "go get changed I'll call Matt."

She didn't need telling twice she was happy to play referee if it meant she could get out this apartment for five minutes.

Ten minutes later she was ready and back in the living room, she tried to hide how excited she was about the possibility of being aloud out. "So what did he say?"

"He said you can come" Gabby grinned widely "but" she groaned.

"What?"

"He said to remind you that this is a one time thing, and only because I need you to speak teenage girl."

"I know"

"He also said that you will be grounded until Monday evening to make up for it."

She groaned again. "Seriously?"

"I'm afraid so sis."

"Ok, whatever. Let's go!"

The drive over to Laura's was only short, Gabby sat fidgeting in her seat the entire way.

"Will you sit still!" Antonio finally snapped "your making me nervous."

"Sorry" Gabby said "it's a bit uncomfortable to sit."

"I bet" he smirked "but please try and sit still."

Gabby rooted her butt to the seat and gritted her teeth, praying they got there quickly and he wouldn't make her sit down when they arrived.

Pulling up to the house Gabby could sense her brothers nervousness.

"I'll go speak to Laura quickly and see if I can take Eva to get a milkshake or something."

Gabby groaned internally at the prospect of having to sit in the car longer "ok"

Twenty minutes later Gabby, Antonio and Eva were all seated in a booth at the local ice cream parlour down the road from Laura's house.

"Eva, your aunt Gabby and I we had a interesting conversation earlier. Do you know what about?" Eva eyes her aunt with a deathly glare.

"No" she sulks.

"Well Aunt Gabby seems to be under the impression you've been skipping class for this boy. Is he the same one I saw you in the car with last week?"

Eva rolled her eyes "whoa dad and here I was thinking you were taking me out to apologise."

"Watch it young lady." Gabby cuts in staring her niece down.

"But Aunt Gabby he's being totally unfair!" She whines "did he tell you he grounded me indefinitely?"

"He did, and to be honest Eva I don't blame him."

"Why does everyone always take his side?" She pushes her shake away and slumps back in the seat pouting.

"Eva your aunt Gabby did something similar when she was your age. And abuleo came down hard on her too." Eva rolled her eyes again, "young lady roll those eyes once more." He warned, his voice full of annoyance.

"Sorry dad."

"Yea you will be." He says glaring at her, "I won't have the attitude your giving ok?"

"Yes dad."

"Good now listen to your aunt because like I say she went through something similar and the reason I'm being so hard is because I don't want you to go through what she did ok?"

"Ok."

"Listen Eva" Gabby began "when I was your age I had this boyfriend, he was much too old for me. Anyway when my pa found out he banned me from seeing him and grounded me."

She stares at her father "just like dad did to me!" Her voice is dripping in venom at the injustice she feels has been handed out.

"Yes but I lashed out, I went running off with him. Disappeared for nearly two weeks."

Eva mouth drops open, "you ran away."

"I did." Gabby confirms "your dad found me, and Eva it wasn't good. The guy well he'd just been using me and when he realised I wasn't ready well he.." she looked at Antonio who nods for her to continue "he started being physical. By the time your dad turned up I'd got a busted lip, and several other injuries. My point you don't always know these boys/men's agendas. And your dad is trying to protect you. You remind me of me so much and I'm sure your dad sees it too. And this well it's like history repeating itself."

There was silence around the table for a short while, while Eva digested what she'd just been told. "Aunt Gabby?" She finally spoke.

"Yea Eva?"

"What happened to the boy?"

"Ah well, for starters he wasn't a boy, he was the same age as your dad." Eva's mouth dropped open, Gabby nodded her head with a huhhmm sound "and let's just say after your dad was finished no boy in school wanted to come near me when they heard about my body guard." She smirked at Antonio "Which I was kinda grateful for." She added quickly seeing his frown appear.

"And what about you what happened?"

"Let's just say abuelo let his anger be known to me."

Antonio smirked next to her, not because what had happened was funny but the consequences then had been pretty similar to what she was experiencing now.

"Dad"

"Yes?"

"I won't see him anymore. And I won't fight you."

"I'm glad to hear it."

"How long?"

"What?"

"How long am I grounded for?"

"That kid will be down to you and how long it is before I can trust you again."

Eva hangs her head down to the ground "I suppose that's fair."

"Come on kiddo let's get you home. After all you've got a lot of school work to catch up with."

Eva groans but doesn't argue as she finished up her milkshake and heads back to the car.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Sirens filled the air as the guys of 51 sheltered behind truck, police filling in behind them.

"What's the situation?" Chief Boden asked detective Voight as he approached.

"Looks like we've got two active shooters, the fire is round back but the hostages are at the front."

"Great so engine can get water on it?" He asked.

"No!" The detective exclaimed "we think there may be more hostiles in the area as look outs. We can't risk letting anyone do anything at the moment."

"Detective with all due respect, if we don't get some hoses in there soon they'll be no hostages left to rescue."

"I'm aware of that chief. We're working as fast as we can, when SWAT get here we're going to need your men to help us get through the building. But we can't let anyone move until SWAT have secured the primeter."

"Fine!" Chief turned to his guys "Hermann tell engine to prepare the hoses, move quickly but slowly got it!"

"Yes chief"

"Casey!"

"Chief"

"I need some of you to go in with SWAT when they arrive."

"On it chief." He turned to truck "Otis, Mouch, your with me, Kidd stay outside unless I call you in ok?"

"Copy that Lieutenant"

"Hermann"

"Lieutenant"

"once you've finished telling engine get suited up your coming in with us."

"Copy that Lieutenant."

Dawson looked over to Matt worried, Matt could sense the nervousness coming off her, he pulled Kidd close and spoke so only she could hear. "I need you to promise me something."

"Anything Lieutenant?"

"Under no circumstances do you let Dawson near that building you got it?"

"Yes sir."

"Good, I'm holding you accountable if she does."

"She won't move Lieutenant."

"Severide!" Casey called "you ready."

"Ready as ever"

Casey nodded and spoke into his radio "chief we're ready when they are."

"Copy that Casey. Stand by."

They stood for what felt like forever before being given the go ahead from SWAT. Casey led his guys in through the back with two men from engine battling the fire, while Severide and his team went in via the front.

Everyone outside stood holding their breath as the minutes rolled by, chief could see the smoke changing colour and hoped beyond hope that they would be out in time. He couldn't radio them as he had no idea where they were in the building and the CPD had been very clear about compete radio silence.

Dawson stood staring at the building her hands shaking, not only was her husband in there but a lot of friends and her big brother. She shoved her hands in her pockets trying hard not to let anyone see them and bit down hard on her lip. Shay nodded at Stella as they both slipped their arms around their friend.

"They'll be ok" Stella reassured her.

"Yea, it's not their first rodeo" Shay agreed trying hard to not let her own fears slip through into her voice.

A few minutes later their radios crackled. "Both shooters down" everyone exhaled a breath of relief. A tear ran down Gabby's face as the relief filled her body.

"61 be ready we've got a few injuries."

"Copy that" Dawson spoke back quickly switching from concerned wife to paramedic and taking charge of all the other Ambos on scene.

Luckily none of the injuries were life threatening and only a few needed hospital attention, both shooters were DOA. Gabby was relived to see both Matt and Antonio walk out unscathed, nodding at the both she gave a small smile before hoping into the back of ambo to take their patient to Med.

"That was a tough call" Casey sighed as they pulled back into the house. "Everyone ok?"

"Yes Lieutenant" everyone chimed, jumping down from truck and changing out of the gear.

"Ok, well if anyone needs to speak I'll be in my office ok?"

Everyone nodded and headed off in their own directions.

"Lieutenant can I have a word?"

"Sure Kidd what is it?

"Erm it's not work related." She said tilting her head slightly.

"Come on" he said nodding his head towards the office. Shutting the door he leant against his table and folded his arms "what's bothering you?"

"Well, Erm.." she shook her head "I was hoping to rearrange the girls night with Shay and Gabby and was wondering... Well is she still grounded?"

Matt chuckled, Stella seemed as uncomfortable talking about it as Gabby had been making the phone calls the other night. "She's grounded until end of today. But after that she is not."

"Cool" Stella said her face lighting up. "I know she's working Molly's tomorrow night but was wondering would it be ok to suggest a girls night Wednesday night?"

"I don't see why not." Matt nodded. "But Stella word of warning, Gabby has rules she has to adear to if she's going out ok?"

"Yes sir."

"Good, now off you go and get washed up and some food. Good work today."

"Thanks Lieutenant." She said smiling as she left the office and headed towards the bathroom.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO

Shay hadn't even parked the ambo before Stella was beside the door jumping up and down like a young school girl that had just been awarded prom queen.

"What's got you so happy." She asked jumping down.

"Wednesday night, me, you and Gabs we're going to paint the town."

"What?" Gabby asked shocked "no way Matt will agree. That's a work night."

"Well Mrs Casey he did agree!"

"You've already asked him."

"I did and he said yes!" She smiled jumping up and down.

"Amazing." Gabby said, " he should go into dangerous situations more often seems to make him a softy." All three of them laughed loudly.
