Chapter 001
Jaune Arc, the black sheep of his family so to speak. He wanted to be a Huntsman but didn't have the training, not for lack of choice nor trying. His father always said that he would train Jaune next time. Jaune also didn't have his aura unlocked, same reason as no training, and he didn't seem to have the potential, then again, his family mostly forgot him in regards to Jeanne, so he had to occupy himself with something. That something had turned out to be hunting, not Grimm but animals. Jaune was decent at hunting, enough it cold be a hobby, but not enough he would be able to be considered a Hunter. Now then for some information about Jaune, he was 16 years old, his aura was locked, he preferred swordplay over ranged weaponry, he had been handed over to some mad doctor for 12000 lien for a weekend, where the doctor knocked him out, he woke up after an operation the doctor had done, something about ensuring progress on the path of evolution... Jaune's opinion of Doctor Mido was that he was batshit insane and should be put down, but the doctor's cryptic words, "Fear not, young one. I have chosen you to bear the greatest yet achievement I have made, a creature that will make you immortal, but I do hope you never have to learn if it did make you such... Heh hahahahahahaha! Evolution will progress and with luck you shall be first to transcend the pitiful state humanity is in!"
Jaune had been sent an email from Doctor Mido, mentioning how he wanted to do something good for once, after the misdeeds he had done during the Color War Revolution, the mention of that informing Jaune of the man's extremely old age, the Color War Revolution being 116 years before Jaune's birth when it started and the end was 50 years before Jaune's birth. Doctor Mido mentioned he had done some misdeeds at the start of the war that had caused it to last twice as long as it should have, a project Silva he had mentioned, something that would have made a father and daughter extremely powerful had the daughter not gone berserk and caused another side to be made from the four opposing sides of the color war to deal with the girl.
Jaune had gone out hunting, but as dark was creeping along the land he found nothing in the snares, baring a strange slug like Grimm, the creature was two feet long, had four mandibles for a mouth, bore three eyes inside the mouth and had a coating of scales making the thing look like a spike up porcupine worm hybrid. Jaune had crushed the things head with a rock the moment it tried to eat his arm, and some of the blood from the creature got into his mouth, which though he had tried to spit out, some had gotten swallowed. Jaune was on his way home, when a rustling in the brush caught his attention, the source somewhat obvious due to the warning posted around town, the size of the creature and the black skin with white bone armor and the large heavy smack it delivered to his chest sending him flying into a large tree was an Ursa Major. Jaune upon smashing into the tree felt incredible pain from his chest and found an inch below his heart a large tree branch that was broken, had impaled him. Jaune, panicking from being impaled, pulled himself off the tree branch before he instinctively rolled away from a strike the Ursa launched at him. Jaune rolled twice more before the pain in his chest grew as the hole was exacerbated by rolling against another tree and accidentally shoving the hole against another tree limb, scrapping it open a bit more. Jaune grabbed the tree branch nearby, a large thick sturdy branch and swung upwards with all the force he could muster, ironically not noting the faint reddish-blue glow coming from where his heart was, but he definitely noticed the tree branch shattering against the head of the Grimm and sending it stumbling back a foot before it fell over backwards. Jaune, not wasting a second to gawk, raced away from the Grimm and found himself at a small construction site, which had no way out. Jaune was about to turn around when he saw the Grimm stumble, but still alive and coming towards him, into the only way out. Jaune looked around and found something that amused him, a three-foot chunk of pipe, the logo showed they forged it with some Grimm bone plating mixed with Dust-Steel, a durable and nearly unbreakable combination, that held a massive wallop to it. Jaune grabbed the pipe and waited, the world slowed down as the Grimm moved an arm at him, Jaune ducked forwards and swung the pipe up at the Grimm's arm from behind. The Grimm hit air and Jaune struck Grimm-flesh the pipe denting the flesh for a moment before the flesh returned to proper shape, but the Grimm was now a lot warier and slightly more wounded.
Jaune kept up the pattern, duck and dodge the swing of the Grimm, counter with one of his own to where his body told him the weak spots were, inside the knee, along the spinal cord, base of the neck and skull, elbow sections under the armor, ankles, wrists, etc. Jaune listened to the voice inside his head and dropped the Grimm, but forgot the key rule for the Grimm, don't look away until the corpse dissipates. The ten-minute semi-anti-climactic fight ended whit the Grimm dissipating after it shoved a clawed hand through the already present hole in Jaune's chest, turning the inch sized hole into a four inch wound that Jaune's body couldn't seemingly handle. Jaune felt something stirring inside his chest and noticed a faint green-white glow before he blacked out.
Jaune's body was encased in the glow and when it died down the wound was gone, but not the bloody marks in his chest nor the black miasma of a dissipating Grimm forming a shape that kept changing when it mixed with the spilled blood from Jaune. Jaune's eyes before they closed as his body collapsed into the pool of his own blood, had changed from his cheerful clue eyes to violent crimson eyes worse than a Grimm due to the intelligence behind the eyes. Jaune's body uttered a word that barely was audible before ending up face first in his own blood. "Cruz..."
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Jaune awoke to see a scene that was odd. There stood a girl in in a hospital gown, amongst a large square arena and Jaune looked down to see he wore a some kind of coat with one sleeve, his mind though hazy knew instinctively it was called a Queenslayer Claw while he had no weapon before two dropped in front of him formed from thin air. Jaune grabbed the large hammer his hazy but slowly clearing mind knew instinctively was called a Queenslayer Hammer and slung it onto his back before grabbing the again instinctively known Queenslayer Sword. Jaune as he approached the girl decided on something; if he was in in some sort of video game world, he would need to go through the game or at least the cycles he was inside it for, on a Deathless run as a test of his survival abilities, now he wasn't stupid, having help would be damned useful for him so he knew going solo as well would be a death sentence for him. Jaune however decided the best way to ensure his own survival was to grow strong enough to not need any companions to survive any boss, baring ones he got the feeling would be best done with help.
Jaune arrived before the girl his mind somehow knew was named Cruz and she spoke up. "We finally meet. Are you clearheaded? You will now be reborn as an immortal creature... a revenant. There are things you will need to know in your new life, so listen well. Each revenant has a different power coursing through their vein called a blood code. The best way to learn about it is to try it for yourself."
Jaune listened to Cruz's instruction and focused on his blood, barely noting Cruz dissipating into a blue-white to orange-red haze, noting somehow he knew his code was that of a fighter made for enduring melee combat. He also had a mental pop up as if he was in a game.
The mental pop up went something like this:

"That is a "Fighter" blood code, which is excellent for combat. Each talent that a blood code bestows is known as a "Gift". The Fighter blood code grants ever-increasing endurance. It seems you also have a Gift that temporarily increases your attack power. Try it out."
Jaune focused on somehow accessing the abilities and moments later.
"Very well. Give it a try."
A brief focus on unleashing that ability, and Jaune felt the strength from the fight with the Ursa activate. He coined the feeling Adrenaline.
"Yes, that will do." She sounded very pleased as she said that. Her tone however turned somber "Be warned. The effects of a Gift will not work unless it is prepared in advance."
Cruz stopped for a second before speaking up in a slightly sheepish tone. "I forgot something important. You will need special blood to activate Gifts. This blood comes from revenants who have forgotten themselves and turned into monsters... the Lost. You can drain ichor from the Lost by striking them with your weapon. Remember that."
Jaune noted she pronounces ichor as I-core, and he filed that away for future studies.
"... Those are the basics of the Fighter's Gifts. Use and learn each of them well..."
Jaune looked at the monster that appeared in a swirl of red-orange hazy motes of light, and swung the sword in his hand, before readying himself for another fight hoping it would be similar to the Ursa baring the dying at the end. Jaune it seemed was over eager and rolled backwards to the right, dodging the swing of the beast. He countered its attack attempt with two sings of his sword, then when it wound up to strike at him he rolled backwards, and after letting it finish the swing of its own he rushed it and swung his sword twice, carving lines into its chest before the sealed shut, but something told him the thing was still wounded it just sealed the wound to look fine. Jaune dodged the swing the creature did by walking to the left of it placing him behind the beast. He swung his blade twice more carving twin swiftly fading marks into its back before it spun around and Jaune simply walked to the left more and carved a gash into its back yet again stumbling it. Another swing on its left side drew sparks as the blade bit into the creatures seemingly armored, or perhaps just sturdy and hardened spinal cord, before Jaune once again moved to the left and utterly avoided another attempt by the creature to swipe at him. A final swing took the creature out as the girl reappeared in a haze of orange. Jaune approached and Cruz spoke up again.
"Well done. Ordinarily a revenant has only one blood code... but you are different. The blood code you once held was broken and has vanished. That has left you with infinite possibilities. You have a unique talent to change your blood code. Come, look deep within yourself."
Jaune looked deep with his body and felt something.
He focused deep within himself and found another other blood code one he didn't know yet he also knew it was his now, a gift from one who helped him with something or was it a fragment of what his code had been broken into? As he focused on it he felt a shift in his body and suddenly a mental pop up formed.

"That blood code is known as "Ranger." Oh dear, that weapon seems to be too heavy for you. Rangers are nimble and best at fighting with light weaponry. Try switching to a bayonet." As she said that a bayonet dropped before Jaune, who picked it up and spun it, deciding to ditch the hammer, or rather he tried and found a mental acknowledgement and felt the hammer fade from his back, but was still at his beck and call. Jaune knew this bayonet, like the two weapons before it was a Queenslayer version of the weapon, a Queenslayer Bayonet. Jaune placed the Sword his back and nodded as he lifted the Bayonet in his arms.
"Yes, that's much better, isn't it? Oh, firing your bayonet requires ichor as well. That and Gifts means ichor will always seem scant. That is where the Blood Veil you have equipped comes in. Using your Blood Veil will let you quickly drain ichor from the Lost. In addition, this can increase the amount of ichor you can hold. If you have a chance to drain ichor from a foe, use it."
As Cruz's words ended Jaune watched as more of the red-haze formed an identical creature from before, one of what Jaune realized was one example of the Lost. Jaune focused and felt something in his arm tingle while his strength was minorly sapped, but his arm pulsed oddly before Jaune felt something happen on his armored right arm. He watched from the corner of his eye as the fingers grew into grey metal claws with a red channel that seemed to bear blood for some reason, the palm was laced with a red-orange glowing set of 'bones' though they quickly merged from four to three, the middle and ring finger 'bones' coming down integrated into one, the rest of the arm was covered in crisscrossing leather like sections that merged into the shoulder, and had tubes that integrated into a mess of leather wrapping around Jaune's neck before it rose up and integrated into the mask, filtering the ichor drained from the Lost as it was fed into Jaune via the mask. Jaune's eyes began to glow a malevolent Crimson while his face was covered by what seemed to be a mask formed from, leather strips spiraling and tightening together before a moment later as the strips forming a mask reached Jaune's cheek bones and gave a burst of black air, four cords emerged from the tangled mess of strips and plugged into the strips just prior to the burst of air. Jaune's stripped mask was suddenly replaced with a new one, this mask seemed more demonic in nature, two massive fang like structures from the feel of the mask, the mask itself had strips of leather across the ends of the mask's 'jaws' three strips a few inches from the twin fangs, while the lower jaw had several metal 'teeth' and red tube-cords that ran along the bottom jaw.
Jaune swung his arm and tore a chunk of the Lost off when he dispersed his 'Claw' inside the wound, only to roll out of the way of swing from the Lost's own arm, not a Drain-Claw but a simply swipe of the arm. Jaune then repeated the Drain attack, and dodged behind the Lost before pressing his hand against the creatures back shocking it, before his arm transformed and he shoved it the Lost's back, then ripped his out while tossing the Lost to the floor, where it gave a pitiful cry as it perished and dispersed into that red haze like substance.
Jaune, after ripping his hand out the back of the Lost and shaking it, dispersing the Drain mode of the Blood Veil with a thought as he walked up to Cruz who spoke up a second later.
"... That sums up the Ranger blood code and draining. Let us try one more blood code. Now, turn your gaze inward."
Jaune felt deep inside himself again and smiled noting a third code he knew yet didn't know at all.

"That is what is called the "Caster" blood code. Casters possess powers like magic from a fairy tale. With it, you can use Gifts to fire projectiles of blood."
Jaune focused and felt for a moment before he coined the term Blood Shot and found eight spots inside his mind that he could feel Gifts such as the power surge and this Blood Shot could go. He also noted four other feelings similar but fundamentally different from the 'active' Gifts.
Jaune summoned the feeling of Blood Shot to his hand and a red glow formed before rushing off and impacting the metal retaining wall so fast it seemed to just summon a red explosion on the wall.
"Nice. You learn quickly. Blood Shot favors range of power. Let's see... Try learning another Gift. You can learn Gifts by touching mistle. Try it yourself."
As Cruz finished speaking Jaune felt something entering his body and noted the same red haze enemies dispersed in, was flowing into his chest, before he felt a mental structure form and he somehow knew the Haze
He spun around and faced the only thing nearby, the blue plant thing, before walking over to it slowly and after resting at it for a moment Jaune chose to search the blood within him and see what he could awaken from the code inside his blood. He felt something hot, and fierce for a moment inside the Caster code before a term formed inside his mind 'Blazing Roar', however Jaune noticed the mental counter for the Haze went to zero after buying the Gift.
"That wasn't hard, was it? Now, since you've learned it, why not try it out?"
Jaune focused and he knew somehow Blazing Roar was an active Gift, so he focused and noted something each blood code had separate Gift slots allowing him switch between codes with completely different capabilities, all with a little focusing. Jaune noted one slot was filled with Blood Shot so he focused on the slot to left on the top four and pictured the Blazing Roar slotted in there. A second later and he felt a click, and somehow knew it would need a 'B' in the Willpower section of the mental pop up to use, before he turned his attention went skyward and he focused the feeling of Blazing Roar to his left hand and suddenly blood and heat gathered before rushing into a small glowing haze like mote of light he grabbed and then swung his left hand out like he was pitching a ball, before the mote of light instantly burst into a blazing fireball the same size as Jaune's torso, a red mist radiating from his hand for a second as the Blazing Roar rushed into the sky.
"Blazing Roar is a Gift that punishes foes. However, its cost in ichor is high, so be careful that you use it at the right time. In addition, its power will change according to the Blood Veil you equip. Blood Veils have different affinities for Gifts. It can be complicated, but keep it in mind."
Jaune watched as a rush of haze formed what Jaune figured out was the basic Lost 'mob' as some would refer to foes, those used to ensure the person grows stronger. Jaune focused on the Lost and walked up before swinging his Bayonet at the Lost carving a bloody line along the Lost's chest before Jaune stabbed into the Lost's shoulder then rolled backwards while the Lost staggered from the stab. Jaune focused and launched a Blood Shot at the Lost, somehow figuring the Blood Shot took off enough of its body matter that it was halfway to dead, even when the Lost's body swiftly repaired the damage to where it looked unharmed. Jaune rolled to diagonally the rear right and focused again as the Lost swung it's arm clumsily but forcefully enough to hear the wind being cut by the things claws, Jaune sent the feeling of Blazing Roar out his hand and watched it impact the Lost a second later, scorching the thing to ash before it vanished into motes of light. Jaune however notes a mental counter, not the Haze one, but one that was drained when he used Blood Shot and Blazing Roar rested at 22, of 30. Jaune had an epiphany that that meter was for ichor, Jaune realized Blood Shot took up 2 ichor and it seemed had a cooldown time between uses of 3 seconds, while he knew that Blazing Roar took up 6 ichor and had a cooldown time of 10 seconds.
"Excellent work. It's all quite sudden, but you picked it up, right? The disappearance of your blood code has left you with unique, limitless capabilities. Not only can you change blood codes, but you can acquire new ones as well. The strength of others becomes your own... A talent that you alone possess. Since you are the only who can do this... Your blood is the only teacher you have."
Jaune felt his surroundings begin to warp as if he was asleep before turning white, however he still heard the last words of Cruz to him inside that dream world, even as her body faded into the red-orange motes of hazy light.
"Now... awaken. And save... the world..."
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Jaune opened his eyes, and saw a night sky with some ruined buildings nearby, before his eyes shut, then snapped open as he felt someone lean over him. Instincts he didn't know he had would dictate to be awake and able to move if the person above him was hostile. Jaune then saw her, blurry at first but her features cleared up swiftly. A cute nose, twin pools of amber yellow looking out at the world, her hair was a cute mess around her head, one section coming down to partly cover her left eye, while her face was framed along her lower jaw by some sort of metallic cover, almost like a frame for some mask to rest on. Her silvery hair shone faintly and Jaune then noted the hooded shawl the girl had, black with golden spikes as trim. Then he heard her voice, like that of an angel, soft caring, somewhat naive but relieved as if she found her calling in the world.
"Welcome back." She paused and noted the world grew blurrier before clearing up fully.
"Hello... How are you feeling?"
Jaune after a moment attempted to sit up, and his eyes noticed something any hot blooded male regardless of species that was humanoid would notice; she had massive breasts each one seemed to be just slightly smaller then her head, and her dress was a torn plunging neckline. Jaune however only made it a few inches up before his body seized up as something inside his body locked up and his hand clenched slightly. Fortunately the girl seemed to know just what Jaune wanted and helped him sit up, Jaune after sitting up looked around as if searching for something, but he gave up a moment later not recognizing any marks nearby. Though from the corner of his eye he saw the Girl in White's dress had no bra below and a breeze sent those mammoth mammaries a jiggling.
Jaune himself didn't notice the disturbing blackened veins along his face, nor how they crept along the left side and slowly grew darker each moment that passed.
Either the girl didn't know of how her outfit drew Jaune's attention or she didn't care for acknowledging such. "Don't worry, it's okay... I don't remember either." Jaune glanced over and though her breasts nearly drew his attention he noted a golden pendant on her chest, one bearing a gold droplet shaped icon, resting just above her massive breasts. The Girl turned and looked to left before slowly getting up, Jaune getting a very brief flash of white below the dirty grey of the dress, then the girl pointed and Jaune barely made out some king of twisting white structure, seemingly a tree amidst a ruined city.
"Over there."
Jaune slowly managed to haul himself to his feet, but his chest ached and his throat was drier then a desert, Jaune's armored right hand instinctively going to his chest over his heart as he slightly hunched, but he turned towards the tree like structure. Jaune felt something ache a bit more with each passing second, as he slowly walked, though it was closer to a limping walk, towards the tree like structure. The Girl gradually got ahead of him, and in turn gave Jaune some eye candy, that later on he would use for recreational purposes.
"It's dry, isn't it?"
Soon she stopped and waited for him. As he reached where she was, she started walking again, her shawls back slid down revealing it was also a partial cloak with and open back though it covered her rear and removed the eye candy.
"We can go slowly."
Jaune had to stop for a second as the pain in his chest worsened. Once he adjusted to it, he continued walking. Ironically as he resumed walking, the Girl in White stopped walking.
"I am here with you."
Jaune soon reached the Girl in White, and for a moment both were still before the girl turned and started walking, a faint nod of her head as she walked. Jaune followed a second later.
"Just a bit farther."
The Girl called back as she looked over her right shoulder at him. The girl stopped near a concrete barrier next to a ruined sign-post.
"We're all right"
Jaune slowly hobbled over to the concrete barrier, and when he got close to halfway there from where they had stopped moments prior she spoke up again, Jaune's addled and fading in and out mind noting she spoke in a quiet monotone with subtle hints of emotion.
"A spring will slake our thirst."
Just as Jaune reached her again she turned and walked towards the white tree. She made it a quarter of the way before she spoke up.
"I had been waiting for such a long time..."
Jaune followed her to the tree as she kneeled down at the roots, Jaune only just then noticing the bandages wrapped around her right forearm and left leg alongside the fact she was barefoot.
"It seems everyone everywhere is thirsty." She looked around before looking thoughtfully at the roots of the tree. "There is a spring that will cure that thirst. One that weeps tears of blood." The girl stood up and turned towards Jaune. "That's what they said, anyway." She took three steps back and spoke as she stepped backwards "This way...". Jaune made it four steps before the agony inside his chest surged and he hunched over, clutching at his chest as agony raced along his body, while his eyes unknowingly turned a malevolent red, rapidly changing from blue to red with no gradient overlap just blue, light red, blood red, while the black veins on his face reached across his nose and barely connected with his right eye. Jaune let out a growl of pain before his eyes flashed and began to glow crimson.
The voice of the Girl barely reached Jaune as the black-grey veins across his face swiftly blackened to moonless night black while swiftly reaching up to the hairline and nearly covering three fourths of Jaune's face.
"It's alright."
A flash of a red hazy image, showing a girl with white hair, black whites, blue-purple eyes, and a hospital gown with some kind of metal plate on one breast, a few glowing crystalline yellow floating structures around her.
Jaune didn't notice he was hunched over nearly halfway to the ground while gritting his teeth, nor that the girl had a concerned frown on her face as she leaned in towards him, Jaune's eyes closed as if in agony, while he let out a silent gasp. The Girl's voice barely audible but still reaching him, her tone empathetic and caring, "It's alright...".
Jaune meanwhile saw a flash of a hand offering some kind of medicine based on the dropper, the outfit looked like a fancy grey over coat atop a pair of belt laden black pants.
Jaune's body let out a silent gasp and curled up a bit as agony raced across him. Then another mental flash occurred, and he saw the white-haired girl in the hospital gown skewered on a demonic beastly looking arm, her hand caressing a cheek while thankful yet regretful expression told him that something bad was going to happen.
Jaune didn't notice the girl in white lift up his left arm and bite down on it, a bit of blood staining her cute face, while a few droplets of blood fell from the wound before it sealed up, the agony subsiding for a moment. Jaune didn't notice when then blood hit the white tree's roots that they began to grow stalks of white leaves on branches, while the tree grew taller and from the ground and opening on the roots blue motes of light rushed up from the tree, nor much besides it flashing a bright white, however the tree was growing a lot of branches that began to grow some sort glowing red crystalline fruit while releasing a lot more of the blue motes of light. Jaune panted as the agony faded, his eyes still crimson, but he could now see, and the girl in white turned to Jaune then spoke up after seeing the tree seemingly revitalized. "So, it is you..." the girl in white approached the tree and plucked one of the fruit-like objects before stepping up to Jaune and offering it too him. "Here, this is for you."
Jaune and girl both drank from one of the fruits, Jaune noting the tip where it connected to the tree was the best spot to drink from.
Jaune soon was resting his head on the girl's lap while she leaned back against the tree and smiled down at Jaune while one of her hands, the ones had Jaune been awake he would have noticed had the bandage around the forearm and two metal covers on the pointer and middle fingertips; that covered the tip alongside the nail and first two knuckles of each finger, barely covering past the second knuckle leaving the section between the back of the palm and the next joint on the finger, the second knuckle bare; stroking Jaune's hair.
The peaceful moment was shattered as two men approached. Both had blonde hair and seemingly identical outfits based on their Veils.
"A new spring and a fresh source of labor. Ha, ha! We really hit the jackpot!"
It was then shown that the two had differing skin tones, one an almost desert wanderer like brown, the other pale as the snow. Both however had an identical rifle with bayonet attached to it.
The pale skinned one spoke up as they approached the sleeping Jaune and the Girl in White who stared at them as they approached.
"Get up. It's time for a bit of fun."
The girl's head tilted to the right as if she was a confused fox. Her eyes showing incomprehension.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
"On your feet! We're about to go hunt for blood beads. Hurry up and get ready!"
Jaune awoke to see the sleeping face of the girl in white above him, knowing she moved him by the feel of the area and the fact he could see concrete around the area... Jaune nearly panicked as he somehow could tell there was six others nearby alongside a few above him that didn't feel at all welcoming. Jaune got up into a sitting up position and looked around. A sudden voice startled him one he didn't know.
"You're awake, then?"
At the sudden voice Jaune stood up, deciding to defend the girl in white, somehow he knew she had done all she could to ensure he slept while they were moved there.
"Whoa, keep it down. Your friend just fell asleep."
Jaune turned to the guy who had spoken and approached the man, only for him to say "So, what happened to your masks?"
Jaune spoke up, slightly confused "What masks?"
The man who now that Jaune was about to panic from being around, sounded sophisticated as he spoke in a deep tone. "Forgotten about those too, have you?" the man paused before pointing at the crate in the back of the area, under a ladder going up to where Jaune could feel the hostilities. "I'll tell you whatever you want to know, but first, go back there and put on a purifier mask." Jaune walked back to the crate and looked over the three types, before grabbing one. It was a small half mask, covering his mouth and nose, with a green paint job while bearing two large red structures affixed to the cheeks, each one was one of the purifiers of the mask, and Jaune felt he knew the mask type, as if he had worn it before.
Jaune turned as one of the guys up top yelled into the pit they were in while kicking down the ladder. "Number three and four! Newcomer's, too! Time to work! Check your gear and come up!"
Jaune somehow knew he would need a lot of gear, mostly weapons to survive. But first, some questions he wanted answered, and he had been promised some answers. Jaune approached the guy near the girl in white and the guy spoke up upon seeing Jaune in a mask. "Looks like the folks upstairs want you. ...Well they can wait, can't they? More importantly, that mask suits you. Without those things, we revenants would join the ranks of the Lost in a flash, so be careful."
Jaune spoke up to the guy "Hey..." the guy looked up "So, what do you want to know?" Jaune thought for a second before the first question emerged "What is this place?" "According to the folks up there, it's a place to keep laborers who gather blood beads. More concisely, it's a slave pen."
Jaune asked the next question that came to mind. "What's a revenant?" "A human that died but got kicked awake again. That's what you are. A revenant. As long as your heart is intact, you'll keep coming back, but you have to drink blood or you'll become one of the Lost. It's ironic. Creatures made to fight the horrors of the Great Collapse now have to fight their own fallen kin."
Jaune asked the next question on his mind "What have I forgotten?" "Each time we die, we lose some part of our memory, be it big or small. It's usually nothing important, and you don't even notice you've forgotten. Well, your case a little rare, I guess."
Jaune asked the next question on his mind "What are the Lost?" "The Lost are revenant who have succumbed to blood thirst and turned into real life monsters. If our heart is destroyed, we turn to ash, but the Lost don't care if they're left with no heart. Still, it takes them a while to come back, which makes 'em like us revenants."
Jaune asked the next question on his mind "What's this mask?" "The air in this place has something in it that speeds up the bloodthirst. We call it miasma. The mask helps filter it out. Mistle purifies the air nearby, but it's been drying up lately, just like the bloodsprings. Be careful where you take off your mask, unless you wanna join the Lost."
Jaune let that knowledge sink in for a second before another question came to mind "What are blood beads?" "If we revenant don't drink human blood, we join the Lost, but humans are scarce after the Great Collapse and all. Folks like us don't get blood, but there's something we can use in its place: blood beads. I don't know what such a lucky thing came along, but they started appearing after the Queen frenzied and was taken down. There are some who believe that they're her tears, but it doesn't matter much to us where they come from."
Jaune asked the next question on his mind "Who is the Queen?" "Not everyone wakes up right away. Some are still asleep. We lose our memories and need human blood to survive. Revenants are imperfect, both as weapons and as creatures. But we were needed to fight against the horrors. The Queen was our hope for solving such problems, but... Well, bringing back the dead is already stepping outside the realm of humanity. In the end, she went into a frenzy... and there was a great war involving all revenants."
Jaune decided to see what was known about mistle "Tell me about mistle." "Mistle is a sort of plant that purifies miasma and renders it safe. It's one of the successes of Project QUEEN. Even if it withers, it can be brought back with medicine made from the Queen's blood, but there's no hope of that now. If activated mistle turned up somewhere, it'd be a big help in exploration."
Jaune noted the man looked somewhat exhausted, before the man spoke up. "That pretty much covers what I can teach you."
Jaune was silent for a moment before making his way to the ladder going up, stopping, turning back and hesitantly shaking the girl in white awake, motioning her to follow him, adding a simple "Come on, please..." when she looked almost annoyed.
Jaune proceeded up the ladder, figuring if they got any abuse from being late to respond to the call to go up, he would take the beating instead of the girl. Surprising him was the lack of a beating even though the guy leading them away looked exasperated at them taking so long.

Jaune watched as a guy in an armored jacket, almost like he was some military guy kicked some sort of plant, his mind letting the term "mistle" emerge from the murky depths, the voice sounding like the strange dream that told him what seemed like the basic of combat in the world for him.
"This one's dry. The miasma's getting pretty thick. Damnit. We're running out of time before the next collection."
Jaune recognized the voice of the pale revenant that approached with a cold "Everything's ready." to the armored guy. Jaune only noted the guy in armor sounded arrogant at that moment. "Right. I'm on my way."
Jaune noted he was near the girl in white, some somewhat lean but muscular guy wearing a jacket without covering his arms resting the jacket on his shoulders, a weak sounding guy halfway on his ass wearing a ratty cloak that obviously seen better days. Meanwhile to Jaune's right was another guy who could have been the twin for the guy in the ratty cloak just with black hair instead of dark magenta.
The arrogant guy spoke up "Hmph! All dried up. Just like the others." However just as he said that, the guy on Jaune's right was knocked to the ground and he timidly spoke up. "Y-Yeah. All dried up... so there's no sense in searching with the miasma like this. Let's..." Whatever the timid thrall was about to say was interrupted as the dark-skinned revenant behind him slammed the butt of his rifle into the thrall's back sending the thrall sprawling onto the ground with a grunt of pain.
The arrogant man in armor reached to his belt and pulled out a familiar item, a red tear shaped crystalline fruit, which he showed off to everyone for a moment before speaking up "You know what these are, right?" the thrall on the ground to Jaune's left, the seeming lighter haired twin of the timid one, spoke up defiantly. "Blood beads, right?"
The arrogant man walked, or more like tried to swagger over, his eyes running over all the group before he spoke up. "Yes, very good. Now, I want to search for blood beads in the tunnels ahead of here."
The arrogant man stopped and looked right at Jaune before sweeping his gaze over the girl in white and the lean but muscular man, before speaking up again, however his arrogant tone faded somewhat taking a sad and cynical tone. "You see, it's only a short time before the collectors come here to take our levy... but once they do I'm afraid we won't have any blood beads to give them." A pause before the man turned slightly and looked over everyone at the area. "If we don't find some, Silva's hounds will strip the shirts right off our backs..." he turned and spun facing away from the defiant revenant who identified the fruits. "Well, that's the long and short of it."
The defiant man sounded unsure and confused. "Wh-Why does it have to be us?" the arrogant man's tone took on an arrogant and slightly cold tone. "Don't ask me. The stupid levy system was Silva's idea. If you have a complaint, I suggest you take it up with him!"
The two guys with guns, used the guns to motion that the two on the ground got up, the dark-skinned one even shaking the gun at the humble and timid thrall he knocked to the ground. "You lot go first. Get to work!" before escorting the two revenants down a ramp.
Jaune watched the group of four head down the ramp next to the girl in white and the guy in the dark blue jacket. Jaune stepped up on some unknown impulse before the guy in the dark blue jacket reached an arm out and stopped him. "Don't. There's a better time and place." The guy sounded good natured, and experienced. Jaune looked to the guy and nodded. "For now, we just have to obey."
The two rifle armed guys approached the two they walked with nowhere sight. The dark-skinned ill tempered one spoke up "Next!"
Jaune, the good-natured revenant and the girl in white started to walk down, but the arrogant armored guy reached out and grabbed the arm of the girl white. "Whoa there." Jaune turned thinking he was being spoke to, only to see the arrogant sounding revenant had grabbed the girl in white who looked pleadingly at him as if begging him to slay the arrogant man. "You wait here with us." That sight triggered a protective instinct to eliminate the perceived threat to the girl in white, while the arrogant man looked at Jaune directly "You can have this one back when you return. In exchange for any blood beads you find, of course." Jaune stepped forward a glare on his face, only nearly be bashed in the face by the ill-tempered revenant. Jaune turned after glaring hard enough a faint red glint shown in his eyes marking what would denote a 'You had best keep your word, lest you perish before the levy was needed.' That made the arrogant man shiver faintly, he had seen many things bearing that look and up until then that look was a Lost sighting in its next meal.
Jaune turned and walked forward towards where he was be shepherded by the two, armed revenants, but he heard the arrogant man's slightly shaken words "Oh, I hear the Hunter has been showing up around here lately. So make sure you don't all get killed."
After a brief walk, Jaune and the good-natured revenant were before a ladder hauled up. Both were looking over the edge and saw how deep a hole it was, fairly deep and rather daunting. Neither noticed the 'escort' revenant pair approach, but both heard the ill-tempered ones "You heard 'im... Move it!" the last bit was called out after kicking both off the ledge and down into the pit.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Jaune and the good-natured revenant picked themselves up, the good-natured revenant speaking up after both got to their feet. "Yowch..." a pause as both had to focus on mitigating the pain "Hey, you okay?" Jaune just gave a nod, the pain swiftly fading, Jaune noting body swiftly repaired the damage. Both revenants looked up before the good-natured one spoke up, stating the obvious. "It looks like we can't get back up from here. We'll have to look for another way back." A pause before the good-natured revenant approached Jaune and offered his hand. "Oh. I'm Oliver Collins, by the way. Nice to meet you!" "Jaune arc, nice to meet you too..." Jaune then noted something behind him, the same plant the man had kicked only thing was it was open and glowing white turning the thing into a blue-white plant that hummed and radiated a feeling of content. Jaune approached the plant and placed a hand on it, momentarily hearing the girl's words from that odd dream.
"That is a "Fighter" blood code, which is excellent for combat. Each talent that a blood code bestows is known as a "Gift". The Fighter blood code grants ever-increasing endurance. It seems you also have a Gift that temporarily increases your attack power."
"That blood code is known as "Ranger." Rangers are nimble and best at fighting with light weaponry."
"That is what is called the "Caster" blood code. Casters possess powers like magic from a fairy tale. With it, you can use Gifts to fire projectiles of blood."
"Now... awaken. And save... the world..."
Jaune smiled before he stood up "Oliver, how about you stay here, not doubting you in battle, hell I can tell you're experienced in battle somehow. However, one person can likely avoid the enemies we might find, and I get lucky..." Jaune paused before grabbing a nearby Pipe and nodding placing it on the ground before he searched around and found a long chunk of re-bar with a large chunk from some support pillar that was broken away from the re-bar, Jaune grabbed the re-bar makeshift Hammer, and the pipe makeshift sword, before turning back to Oliver. "these can see me through the area enough to open that gate behind us, saving us some time looking hopefully." Oliver nodded and Jaune stepped forwards past the mistle.

Also would anyone be willing to have the RWBY Cast: RWBY, JNPR, CFVY, Cinders group, Juniors gang plus the Malachite Twins, Salem's Ensemble, the few revealed Arcs, the beacon Teacher, the few other teachers revealed, STRQ, Oscar and the named White Fang members plus Adam, do a Reading of story? Any others would be up to the one doing so? Or perhaps increase it on cast similar to the way cast had been done in the show perhaps focusing on the cast as they progressed? Such as the ones from each trailer Red White Black Yellow, then those added by each episode.?
If you are willing to do a Reading Of story, pm me, or review such... if the review not showing up gets fixed
