Chapter Ten
Trapped
Pandora was out and about shopping in New York City when her phone started ringing. Pulling it from her bag she looked to see that the screen showed Natalie. Pandora smiled as she accepted the call. No matter how crazy Pandora's life got Natalie could always cheer her up. She wasn't sure if it was the innocence of the girl not knowing about the supernatural but she liked that Natalie treated Pandora like a normal person. She was sure the girl thought her odd and eccentric but she still wanted to be friends with her.
"Hello," Pandora answered putting the phone up to her ear as she walked down the sidewalk.
"Hey Pandora, are you busy today?" Natalie's sweet voice came from the speaker.
Pandora didn't even have to think about her answer.
"Nope, totally free. Did you want to meet somewhere?" She asked.
"Actually, do you mind coming over to my apartment?" She suggested.
"I'm actually not that far away. I'll be there shortly." Pandora told her even though technically she was several hundred miles away.
"Great, I'll see you soon."
Pandora found a secluded alley before teleporting back to her own home to put away her shopping bags. Looking in her floor length mirror she used her fingers to comb through her hair and straightened out her outfit. She wore a dark purple, lace sleeveless dress that rested just above her knees with a pair a pair of black and gold peep toe chunky heel boots. Checking the time on her phone she figured she had wasted enough time to seem appropriate and made her way to the front of Natalie's apartment door. She gave it a couple of knocks and then waited for the girl to open the door; she didn't have to wait long.
"Hey, come on in." Natalie told her with a smile as she ushered Pandora into her living room to set comfortably.
Pandora lounged on the old, worn but comfortable sofa as she listened to Natalie rummage around in the kitchen preparing drinks.
"So, how have you been?" Pandora questioned breaking the silence between them. Usually Natalie carried their conversations. She was always telling Pandora about college, her other friends, or even wanting to show her new sketches of outfit designs. Now, Natalie just seemed withdrawn and quiet.
"I've been fine," was the short response that Pandora received.
Pandora hummed in response suddenly feeling her muscles tense. Her gut was telling her something was wrong.
"And you? How have you been?" Natalie questioned her.
"I've been fine." Pandora answered her; the words been drawn out slowly as she looked around the apartment for anything that would cause the uneasy feeling.
"I thought you would have all kinds of interesting stories; hanging out with the Winchester brothers and all." Natalie told her casually as she came back into view holding a bottle of wine and two wine glasses.
Pandora's mind took a minute for the words to sink in. Natalie had no idea who Sam and Dean were. She knew nothing of the supernatural world. Pandora stood up quickly from the couch and faced the other girl. Her whole-body tense and her teeth clenched.
"How do you know about the Winchesters?" Pandora asked.
Natalie just laughed; a dark laugh that Pandora had never heard come from the girl. Their eyes met and Pandora watched as Natalie's pale blue eyes turned black for just a few seconds. She was possessed. Pandora's anger rose to a whole new level but she wasn't sure what to do. She didn't want to hurt Natalie or have the demon kill the vessel.
"What do you want?" Pandora asked between clenched teeth.
The answer didn't come from the demon in front of her though but from behind her. She recognized the voice instantly and it made her body go cold.
"He's just following orders. The girl is just insurance that you behave accordingly." The voice was confident and smooth with a distinct British accent. Pandora didn't know how but Crowley was behind her, very much alive. She turned slowly to face him. He looked no different. Same black tailored suit with a silver tie that Pandora herself had gotten him. He stood casually with his hands tucked away in his pants pockets without a care in the world. He had a self-satisfied smirk on his face as he watched her.
"I saw you die." She told him.
"Oh yes, that. Not really my bones darling." He said his right hand coming out his pocket to be waved around as he spoke. "Had to get Moose and Squirrel off my back somehow didn't I. Must say I was very surprised you came along. I thought we had something special." He walked closer to her. The space between them getting smaller until it was almost non-existent. Pandora made to take a step back but found she was unable to. Crowley gave her a smirk and she knew it was all his doing.
"That was before I found out you're an idiot."
"Don't be like that, love. Don't forget I hold the life of your little human friend in my hand." He warned her. "Now be a good girl and behave. If you come with me without a fight your friend will be perfectly fine. Neither I nor my demons will hurt a single hair on her head. She won't even remember any of this happening."
"How do I know you're not lying?" Pandora asked.
"I'm a demon of my word. You should know that. If I make a deal, I don't break it." He reminded her. "Now do we have deal? If so, you know how it works… pucker up for Crowley."
"Fine," she told him with a glare. "I'll go with you without a fight and Natalie doesn't get hurt."
"Agreed," Crowley said and then his familiar lips were on hers. She could feel the heat from his body surrounding hers. One of his arms wrapped itself around her waist pushing her closer to his body and the other went to the back of her head; his hand tangling in her long, red hair. Pandora kept her hands to herself no matter how much her hands craved to touch him.
When Crowley finally removed his lips from hers, she realized she no longer was standing in Natalie's comfy living room. Instead she recognized the place as Crowley's hide away. The room she found herself looked similar to the room the Wincher's and herself had found Meg in when she was being tortured. The walls were covered in blood and the floor had bits and pieces of bodies and fluids she didn't want to think about. She saw in the middle of the room was a chair with straps attached and a table with all kinds of different instruments spread out ready to be used.
Crowley was still holding her as he watched her eyes soak in the room.
"Like it?" He asked. She didn't answer. "It's my own personal torture room. It's where I bring all the monsters that get captured." He explained.
"Why am I here?" Pandora asked even though she was sure she already knew. She didn't like the look in Crowley's eyes as he stared at her and his grip on her tightening.
"You know something about Purgatory and I want to know what you know. So, you can tell me now," he paused but she stayed silent. She saw him clench his teeth. "Or I put you in my chair over there and we found out exactly what can hurt your pretty little self."
"I'm not telling you anything." Pandora told him looking him straight in the eye.
"That's just too bad, love. I was hoping it wouldn't come to this." Crowley told her as he ran a hand down her cheek. With a snap of his fingers Pandora found herself strapped down in the torture chair with Crowley in front of her. He was now wearing a blood splattered, white apron over his suit and was surveying his collection of items on the table nearby.
"So, what, you're going to kill me now?" She questioned letting out a laugh of disbelief.
"Oh no, love, I'm not going to kill you. Honestly, don't how to do it even if I wanted to. However, hurting you is on the table. I'm sure we can find something that will make that pretty mouth loosen its secrets." He explained as he picked up a wicked looking blade from the table. Pandora tried to teleport or get out of the restraints but she couldn't. She was stuck with no one knowing where she was.
Her time spent with Crowley went by slowly. He tried every blade and weapon he had. The first few days she watched with slight amusement at his frustration as the wounds healed almost immediately after he was done lashing on her. But her humor faded after a week. The longer she was stuck in his torture room and away from her box the weaker she became. Soon her wounds were healing much slower and then finally they didn't seem to be healing at all.
Even as she screamed in agony and shouted curses at Crowley as he carved up her pale flesh, she still refused to let anything she knew about Purgatory escape from her lips. Her only enjoyment came from the frustration it left Crowley in.
When Crowley was gone and she was left alone to think in silence she often wondered if anyone had taken notice to her missing. Did Bobby, Sam, or Dean realize that something was wrong? Had they had tried to call her and not received an answer and become worried? Was she someone that they would even worry over?
She had promised Bobby she would help with translate the book from the dragons; the book that talked about the Mother of All, Eve. She hated Eve with a passion. Especially when in Greek mythology they often linked Pandora and Eve together as the same person. She hoped the hunters figured it out on their own. She also hoped they found out about Crowley being alive and that he possibly was working with Castiel. She might not like the angel but she couldn't see him simply 'burning the wrong bones.'
She stared up at the ceiling of the cell she was in. She was shacked with heavy chains to the wall. The chains that attached to the wall allowed her just enough slack to sit on the disgusting floor. If she didn't feel like a carved-up turkey, she would be more concerned about the filth she was setting in. But by this point she wasn't even sure how long she had been in Crowley's clutches. She just knew she never felt so useless. She didn't think there was a single part of her body that he hadn't carved up. She no longer wore her shoes. Crowley had removed them after she had ended kicking him in his manly bits the first week she was trapped here. Her feet were now covered in dirt and blood. Her dress had also been removed and she was left in only a black bra and panties. Thankfully feeling insecure of her body was something that Pandora never really dealt with. She was mostly pissed about another dress being ruined.
Pandora had never felt so human in her entire existence. She knew by now that she had been away from her box, the source of all her little tricks, to long that she wouldn't be able to teleport or make any sinful moves on anyone. She felt doomed but she refused to give in to Crowley. The only thing she had control over was her resolve to not tell him a damn thing about Purgatory.
Her cell had no way to tell the time. The lights were never turned off and there were no windows. Typically, the only way she judged that a day had passed was from Crowley's visits; usually once a day, every day. But it seemed longer since she had seen him; much longer. Either Pandora was losing it or he hadn't been to see her in days.
She was on full alert when she heard noises coming from outside her cell. The little window opened up but it wasn't Crowley's face looking back at her but someone she didn't recognize.
"Oh good, there you are been looking all over for you." The unknown man told her. It was just a moment then the door was pulled wide open and he stood in front of her crouched position on the floor. "The Winchesters' have been mighty worried about you. I thought I might help them out. Crowley hid you good but he's been a little busier than usual these last few days." He explained to her.
The man was thin with short hair and on the older side. He didn't look familiar to Pandora. She didn't say anything she just stared.
"Nothing to say; not even a thank you?" He joked. "I was always kind of fond of you. Shame what Lucifer did to you. You didn't deserve it." He continued on as he took a step closer to her.
"Who are you?" She finally asked.
"I'm Balthazar; surely the name rings a bell." He told before he waved his arm and the chains that once help her disappeared. Pandora continued to stare. She had reached a whole new level of low if she had to be saved by an angel. "No need for the glare. I'm well aware of your thoughts on us angels. But look I don't have much time to chat. Castiel and Crowley know how to open Purgatory. They're going to do it tonight. I have the address. You can go or stay out of it… doesn't matter to me. But I thought I would let you know." He said.
Out of thin air he produced not only a slip of paper with an address but also a simple black dress and a pair of slip on shoes. He handed them both to her.
"I don't have a problem with your current outfit but it might draw a little less attention to yourself if you cover up just a bit."
"Thank you," she finally told him.
"Thank me by helping the Winchesters put a stop to this." He told her before disappearing leaving her alone once again.
Pandora wasted no time in putting the dress and shoes on and quietly making her way out of the cell. The place seemed deserted which Pandora found odd but also thankful for. She carefully made her way through the building before finding an exit.
Once outside she looked at the address that the angel had given her. Thankfully it didn't seem to be too far away. Unable to teleport Pandora found she was stuck walking to the destination. As she got closer it was easy to pin point the building. The outside was crawling with the black smoke of demons out of vessels and as she got closer, she found the Impala flipped over with no one inside. She at least knew for certain she was in the right place.
When Pandora finally made it to the building, she was surprised to find Sam who was alone.
"Pandora?" He questioned. "Is that really you?"
"Yeah, it's me." She tried to give him a smile but she was sure it came out as more a grimace.
"We tried to find you. You just disappeared. We didn't even know where to begin to look for you." Sam told her. "What, what happened to you?" He took in her ragged appearance with a worried look.
"Crowley is what happened to me." She told him. "But I don't have time to explain. We need to stop them from opening Purgatory."
Sam nodded in agreement and they made their way inside in silence listening for anything that would lead them to where Castiel and Crowley would be. When they finally heard voices, they found only Castiel, Dean, and Bobby. Pandora felt her stomach clench… she knew they were already too late to stop it. She heard Dean trying to reason with Castiel to put the souls back. Before she knew what was happening, she saw Sam grab a forgotten angel blade from the floor and stabbed Castiel right in the back. The biggest shock was that it didn't do anything. The angel didn't even in flinch as he pulled the blade out from his back.
"I'm glad you made it Sam, Pandora." Castiel told them as he put the angel blade down on the table next to him. He turned slowly to face them as he spoke. "The angel blade won't work because I'm no longer an angel. I'm your new God." He told them glancing back to Dean and Bobby.
"A better one," Castiel continued. "So, you will bow down and confess your love on to me your Lord… or I shall destroy you." He told them.
The hunters and she all stood around Castiel as they listened to his speech. Pandora felt anger growing inside her like she never felt before for the so-called new God. She would be the first to admit that she never liked the angel but she never thought he would go as far that he would threaten his own friends. The anger continued to consume her when she saw Bobby do as he asked and got on his knees in front of Castiel. Bobby looked at the others and encouraged them to do them same. Sam and Dean started to follow his example but Pandora stood completely frozen in her spot not moving an inch. However, Castiel told them to stop before the boys could kneel.
Castiel explained to him that there was no point if they didn't mean it. She half listened to his speech about his new found power and how they shouldn't cross him. Then she found out about Sam. Apparently, Castiel broke the wall in Sam's mind. She watched as Sam struggled to stay on his feet and Dean demanded he fix him.
"You sick demented angel!" Pandora finally snapped and shouted at him. "They your friends; your family. Now you're threatening them. Is that how a God is supposed to be?"
"Pandora, you should really stop while you're ahead." Castiel warned him his focus now completely on the red head. "You should be thankful I don't lock you up again."
"Try it and I'll find a way to kill you." She threatened.
"I believe something you once told me fits you now. You once asked me what I could do to you and to threaten when I had some sort of leverage. I was weak then but now the table has turned. Do you have any powers left?" Castiel asked her and before Pandora could blink, she felt a burning sensation like she had never felt before in her lower abdomen. Looking down she saw Castiel had stab her straight through the chest with his angel blade. Pandora screamed as he pulled it out. She could hear the panicked shouts of the Winchester brothers and Bobby. Her vision blurred as she fell. She was out cold before her body hit the floor.
