Say Yes And Marry Me
I Do
It was like a dramatic scene out of a music video, Kisame was running down the streets, with nothing but a white t and jeans. There was rain pouring, and he was breathing hard as he struggled. He needed to do this, one last dramatic try. He had to be sure, he had to know where his heart was. He wanted to get married and have a husband and be happy like his friends. Damn it, this was his idea he shouldn't have to be the last one!
Taking a moment to pause at a red light, he looked up at the crying sky. Yes, he felt like he was being set free. Noticing the red turn to green, he started to run once more. Kisame threw his hands out, believing that he was flying!
That was when he reached a white building apartment, the same place where he always came to pick up his gorgeous Jason. The cutest shark boy that he had ever seen. Trembling, he placed his hands on the wall and forced himself to stagger the final steps to his front door. He looked around, smiling in triumph when he saw a bush of roses. He didn't care when their thorns bit into his skin, he simply breathed and knocked on the door.
Everything that was going on in his head came to an abrupt halt when another man answered the door. He looked him up and down as he asked, "Who the fuck are you!"
"I'm Kevin," The tall man said, he looked to be one of those big beefy sharks and he rivaled Kisame.
"Babe who's at the door," He heard Jason call. Jason who he thought he loved and wanted to marry. Who he had wondered in his heart countless times if he was worth it. It had been a few months he supposed, but still a part of him was perplexed that he had moved on already.
You have Suigetsu, a voice in the back of his head reminded him.
"I don't know, some loser," Kevin called back.
"Huh, why would some loser be here," He could hear him approaching. Kisame smiled wobbly and threw the rose at Kevin. He caught a glimpse of Jason—he looked good—and ran off before he could spot him. Kevin stood there perplexed, holding the rose and watched the man run away. Kisame did not look back.
It was for the best, his heart probably would not have handled the sight of Jason happily taking the flower from Kevin and kissing him.
Kisame felt like a fool as he got home and threw off his wet clothes. What had he been thinking? That after all these months Jason was still going to be waiting for him? Sitting pretty and mourning the loss of their relationship, heck not even he had done that. Grabbing a towel, he dried his hair as best as possible and rushed and froze when he heard rustling coming from his bedroom.
He spun around in time to see a sleepy Suigetsu peek into the bathroom at him. The man gave him a toothy smile.
"Where have you been sweetie?" Suigetsu asked, tilting his head worriedly when he saw how wet Kisame looked. He could get sick. "Why don't you take a shower to warm up?"
"Suigetsu," Kisame trembled, unable to look him in the face any longer he turned away with tears in his eyes. Looking at him reminded him that there was no follow through with their promises and words. They had not gotten married when they said. He knew it was also partly his fault, he had been so hasty and yet he had to wonder if that was what made them so perfect for each other. They were both fools. "I was running around like a fool thinking that I could get Jason back, but I found him with another man and I don't know—I guess I thought my heart would feel more broken, but really all I feel is a bit stupid."
"You were going after your past lover? Suigetsu asked, shaking slightly, "What am I not enough?"
"What, of course you are, I guess I just wanted to see if I still had feelings for him. Guess it's really over, but it's stupid you know because I was so ready to marry him. I just wanted to see if that feeling was still there."
"And it's not?" Suigetsu's voice sounded hopeful.
Kisame's eyes widened a bit, and he spun around to look at him. Little Suigetsu swimming in Kisame's large shirt, so tender, with his white hair and lilac colored eyes. He was so beautiful. Kisame ran to him and scooped him in his arms.
"I love you!" he declared, "I love you Suigetsu!"
Suigetsu gasped, a bit thrilled by the declaration as he laughed. "I love you too, dummy Kisame," He hugged him tight. Kisame's skin was icy against his warm one but he welcomed it. "Why are you out there doing stupid things." He grumbled.
"Why don't we go and do something stupid together," Kisame asked. While he had not proposed and done all the same crazy things that he had done with Jason, Kisame felt that it wasn't fair. He wanted to do stupid things with Suigetsu as well, and see if this time around, his stupidity would be shared. Suigetsu grinned, he had a plan.
"Let's go get eloped!" Suigetsu suggested, "I don't need a big wedding or guest, or nothing like that. Let's go get married tonight!"
"Eloped…" Why had he never thought of that! "YES!"
The two of them didn't pack anything, they just snatched the keys to their car and ran out with the clothes, or lack there of clothes on their back. They ran into a twenty four hour church and begged the lady at the front to let them pay and get married then and there. When she said that they needed certain documentation, they decided to skip her and run around the church looking for a priest they could just pay to hold the ceremony.
One of them was willing to do it for the sum of money that they had.
Kisame and Suigetsu giggled all throughout the priest speech of love and commitment. They got lost in each other's eyes, thinking that they were where they wanted to be. They had no rings, nothing but the vows in their soul. There was nowhere else that they belonged.
"You are now married, you may kiss," The priest closed his book, looking bored.
Kisame kissed Suigetsu hard, and knocked them both on the floor. The priest jumped when he saw that they were not stopping any time soon. "Please, be respectful and get out of this church to celebrate,"
Kisame whooped, "IM MARRIED!"
Suigetsu gasped as he was scooped up. "Where are we going?" he asked as Kisame rushed them out of the church.
"Our honey moon!"
There was no money to go anywhere fancy, but to a motel down the street…maybe. That didn't sit to well when looking at the man in his arms.
Outside, the rain had stopped and the moon was shining brightly. Kisame shivered at how cold it still felt, because he had no shirt on but Suigetsu was warm against his chest. His eyes were the light in his darkest days.
He knew exactly where he wanted to take him—money be damned! He had a credit card.
Two weeks later, late afternoon Kisame jumped into his usual seat beside Sasori and Itachi. Both men were chatting about something but Kisame didn't care as he vibrated with happiness, "Alright Kisame, what do you have to tell us?" Sasori asked. Even though both of them already knew. Suigetsu had called to tell Sasuke, who told Itachi, who then told Sasori.
"I got married to the most amazing man in the world!" Kisame cheered.
"Debatable," Itachi commented.
"I beg to differ," Sasori deadpanned.
"The most amazing person in the world to me, meant for me, I know already that you fools are stuck on your husbands," Kisame huffed, rolling his eyes at how possessive and in love with their husbands his friends were.
"If you say so," Itachi muttered.
"I suppose," Sasori shrugged.
"Heh, heh, I bet you guys didn't think I could do it, right!" Kisame boasted.
"No we knew you'd do it," Itachi said, before taking a sip of his water.
"We're just surprised it took you so long," Sasori teased.
"You know you guys, I learned a lot from the moment that I suggested this marriage thing," Kisame said, sounding philosophical.
"And what's that?" Itachi asked.
"It doesn't matter! Racing to get married doesn't mean anything if it's not with the right person. I'm glad that I found the right one. I can say that it was special because it was us and not because I was trying to compete with you guys." Kisame grinned.
"Okay, where's the real Kisame?" Sasori asked.
"Huh,"
His friends laughed, "Congratulations!"
Kisame felt his eyes tear up as he grinned at his friends. They were little shits, but they were still his best friends in the whole world. "Thank you guys!"
The End
