We are back with part 2! Remember there is no real plot line just a look into their lives and such. However, I am advancing their relationship and I'm not mad at it lol. There will be a part 3 of this little trip because I'm having so much fun writing it. I don't want to deprive you of any juicy details that occur when a bunch of teenagers go into the woods. Oh and hopefully I captured the other characters well.

Camping Part 2

The two days following Charlie's blow out were awkward to put it lightly. He truly did feel bad for yelling at Jacob like he did, and we both pretended as if the incident didn't happen. Jacob planned on never returning to my house and I was honestly on board with that idea for the time being.

Jacob and I both spent as much time as we could outside of the house prepping for the trip. We spent a good deal of time at Newton's picking up various camping supplies and extra sleeping equipment that would accommodate Charlie's demands. Even though he wouldn't be with us on the trip, we wouldn't put it past him to somehow know if we didn't follow his rules. We both thought it better to be safe rather than sorry.

After we sufficiently gathered enough supplies, we were ready to embark on the trip bright and early Friday morning.

"So, what are his friends like?" Jessica asked as she hoisted her backpack into the back of my truck.

I rolled my eyes in mock annoyance at her sparkling eyes. She was more excited than I thought she would be to go on a backpacking trip for the weekend. She was about to back out of the trip until I mentioned Quil and Embry would be there and she quickly volunteered to research tents and flashlights suitable for the trip.

"I don't know, Jess," I laughed. "They're just normal guys," I shrugged at her.

"Well duh, Bella," she shook her head at me. "I mean, are they cute? Are they complete douche bags? Are they sporty? Nerdy?" she prodded.

I giggled at what she could possibly be picturing as Jacob's friends. She was looking at this trip and a match making opportunity. She was currently off again with Mike and saw this as a chance to look for a potential bachelor. "I guess they're friendly? They seem to like video games and cars I think,"

"Nerdy," she sighed forlornly.

Angela giggled as she piled in her backpack. "I'm sure they'll be really nice. If they're anything like Jacob, that is."

I nodded with a grin thinking of my few encounters with his friends. They would often show up at Jacob's house uninvited or in his garage and sit and joke with us as if they lived there. There was also that wild evening on Halloween when Embry and Quil planned to dress up as Michael Myers hoping to scare the youth of the reservation with his "pale ass face." Quil, on the other hand, misunderstood the plan and showed up dressed as Austin Powers. I've never seen Jacob laugh as hard as he did that night and we never let Quil live that one down. From that night on, they were the two guys I actually I enjoyed hanging out with, besides Jacob.

"Yeah, yeah," Jessica fanned her hand at Angela. "Nice, schmice. I hope they'll be just as gorgeous as Jacob," she grinned evilly and climbed into the truck.

Angela and I gave each other the same look. This was going to be a weekend to remember.

With the directions Jacob gave us, we agreed to meet up with him at the Third Beach trail head in order to hike the rest of the way to their preferred spot. Apparently many locals and tourists made their way out here to the rugged coast for a relaxing getaway. Luckily, we didn't have to worry about finding a spot ourselves as the boys already had their favorite location in mind that was quite a ways away from the rest of the backpackers.

I slid into the dirt lot where the rest of the campers stopped and made the rest of their trip on foot. Jacob, Quil, and Embry were already there unloading their supplies out of the back of the Rabbit.

"Morning, guys," I greeted them as I slid out of the truck. We could already hear the rough ocean waves from the lot. There was a weathered, wooden sign when marked the dirt trail paved for the campers that snaked along the coast. Apparently this trail went on for miles, but they thought it would be best to go easy on us for our first trip out here.

"Bells!" Jacob straightened up from setting the backpacks on the ground with his huge smile on his face. He bounded to me and pulled me into a tight, warm hug. "You find the trail okay?" He asked as he pulled back to look at me, his eyes bright and excited. He had his arms resting around my waist.

I nodded, my heart thudding heavily in my chest. He smelled so good. I was more excited about this weekend than I was letting on. I couldn't wait to spend it with him. "Yeah, I only had to make one three-point turn," I grinned back.

Angela and Jessica laughed as they made their way around to truck to us. "Yeah, she was panicking because we couldn't find the turn off," Jessica snorted.

I rolled my eyes at Jacob as he shook his head in mock disappointment at me. He peered down at me with those deep drown eyes, his fingers lightly gripping my waist. He had an adorable smile playing on his lips and I couldn't help but return it. He made little butterflies dance in my belly. I couldn't believe I was actually here with him. I was almost sure Charlie would never have let me come. And here I was, in Jacob's warm arms, his eyes only on me.

"I'm Quil Ateara," Quil shoved past us who had been standing there staring at each other like fools.

I blushed red and pulled away to greet Embry.

Quil eagerly held out hand out to Jessica.

She quickly looked him up and down with a sly grin on his face. She shook his hand. "I'm Jessica. Uh, Stanley," she giggled and motioned to Angela who was standing behind her. "This is Angela Weber," she said.

Angela smiled and waved shyly at the tall boys "Morning," she said and quickly turned to unload the truck. Embry eyed her from his spot near Jacob's trunk. Uh oh. This really might be a weekend to remember.

/

"You know, I didn't really think you would be down for this Swan," Quil called over his shoulder as he walked beside Jessica along the trail.

The view really was spectacular as we made our way to our site. We had a clear view of the water that went on for miles, sparkling in the misty morning sun. Charlie's weather forecast seemed to be accurate so far.

"What do you mean?" I called back.

"Well, considering you have two left feet, I'm shocked you've made it this far," he said.

The girls and Embry laughed at his comment and even Jacob chuckled quietly beside me.

I elbowed him. "Hey, I haven't fallen in like two weeks!" I pouted.

"Oh you mean the time you sprained your ankle on nothing?" Quil shot back.

My mouth popped open. "Who told you about that?" I yelled.

Quil just snickered with Jessica and kept walking through the uneven terrain.

I directed a glare at Jacob who was busy looking up at the seagulls circling near the water. "Hey!" I shoved his arm and he stumbled to the side in surprise.

"What?" He shouted and rubbed his arm. "He said it, not me" he pointed to Quil who picked up the pace ahead of us.

I rolled my eyes. "Leave it to you to completely humiliate me before we even get to the campsite," I grumbled to him.

He laughed beside me. "Hey, I can't control what comes out of Quil's mouth," he held up his hands in surrender. "Besides, I'm sure you were gonna embarrass yourself anyway," he grinned and poked me in the ribs.

I tried to hide my growing smile and pushed his hands away. "Jerk."

"Your jerk," he smirked and wiggled his eyebrows at me.

Yeah, he was.

/

We walked along the trail which was not as challenging as I expected it to be. Despite the easy terrain, the boys were right and I nearly twisted my ankle twice during our hike to our campsite, but luckily Jacob was able to save me both times. He kept pace with me in the back of the group as I had to take extra caution to make sure I wouldn't have to cancel the trip due to my need for the emergency room. The group was teasing me as they walked ahead of us saying we wouldn't make it to the site until sundown. However, Jacob quietly reassured me the whole way and told me to just ignore them. He even held my hand to ensure that I wouldn't take a spill and if I did, he would be able to stop it. He really was something. Despite my fear of falling and breaking a bone and my pride, it was nice to admire the view of the ocean and of Jacob, and to have his warm hand around mine.

Jacob was in the middle of chatting about his upcoming school year as we came up to the point in which we made our last trek to the campsite. The trail started to lead away from the water and into the thick trees which served as makeshift campsites if you could find a suitable clearing. We continued inland until we were met with the end of the trail as it branched off to the left, more inland away from the water. However, Quil and Embry led the way through the break in the trail off to the right. Many of the campers either continued down the trail or made their way down clear paved trails to the campsites. However, our local boys made their way into a much more subtle trail that was easy to miss if you weren't paying attention.

"They found this spot about 2 years ago," Jacob said as he swung our hands together.

I kept my eyes on my feet as we made our way through the trees. "How long have you guys been camping on your own?" I asked. It sounds as though they have done this for years and they were only going to be juniors in high school.

Jacob chuckled and maneuvered us through the wooded area. "We've only camped alone for two years, but before this we would come out here with Quil's folks," Jacob explained.

I nodded. How nice it must have been to be born a nature lover. I haven't really been camping before this trip mostly because I spent majority of my life in a climate not suitable for extended outdoor exposure. Unless you count camping out in the living room as a child. I often envied Jacob in that way. Since he grew up with such lush nature all around him, he truly adored being outside no matter the weather.

Quil and Embry continued to venture into the thick trees before pushing past tall bushes into a small clearing that was surrounded by the thick forest. However, a small break on the opposite side of the clearing was a clear path to the beach. It was perfect. It was wide enough to house our tents and our campfire, but was private enough away from the rest of the wandering campers and hikers. The crashing of the waves was the only sound we could hear besides the gentle swaying of the treetops.

"Oh my god, I'm exhausted," Jessica breathed as plopped down on the dirt floor and leaned back on her pack.

Angela giggled and set down her pack beside her. "We still have to set up the camp," she said and began unzipping her bag. Jessica groaned in response.

Quil and Embry moved throughout our site to push aside stray foliage and branches.

"Whatcha think?" Jacob asked as I admired the site.

"It's so great," I grinned at him and he flashed me a smidge of his breathtaking smile. He squeezed my hand that he still hasn't let go of. I squeezed it back. His deep brown eyes sparking with excitement and something else.

"Build your room and get in it," Quil barked at Jake and I from across the site.

My face flushed red and I quickly dropped his hand and made my way to help Angela as she took apart the neatly packaged tent. We both had to grab one of Jessica's hands to heave her up so she could help us put it together. I kept my expectations low. She wasn't much of a nature girl, but if we have to share a tent she was going to help build it.

"How in the hell do people do this?" Angela grumbled and adjusted her glasses and she flipped through the instruction pamphlet. I kneeled down and began to unfold the various layers of tarp and nylon. This was going to take a while.

I peeked under my lashes at the boy's side of the camp as Jacob quickly unfolded their tent and began to separate the pieces and click together the support rods. He had his hair up in a braid, done by him, and had a raglan tee pushed up his arms, faded jeans, and boots. Not your average camping attire, but it didn't affect him one bit. A few strands of his hair were falling into his eyes and beads of sweat were building on his brow as he focused at his task.

"Bella Swan!" Jessica squawked in my face.

"What?" I jumped back in surprise and fell from my knees onto my butt.

"You're sitting on the base," Jessica said as it if it were obvious. She quickly unfolded the piece I was kneeling on and fanned it out on the ground. She then grabbed the rods, clicked them together, and connected them at each corner. She went around the tent and began to secure the base to the rods, lifting the top layer, and forming what looks to be a tent. She grabbed the remaining piece of tarp and fanned it over top, hiding the rods, and securing the dome to each corner.

Angela and I watched her with wide eyes, mouth agape. She built the tent. Without the instruction pamphlet, without us, without any help at all. Jessica Stanley just built a tent.

"What?" Jessica breathed as she shoved stray hairs out of her face.

"H-how did you do that?" Angela asked, clearly taken aback.

Jessica shrugged and unzipped the tent to toss in her sleeping bag. "My dad," she grunted as she climbed in. "He used to take me camping like every year until I was 12 and finally put my foot down. I've had enough of the dirt and bugs for a lifetime," she said casually, her voice traveling through the thin tarp. "Of course we did mostly mountain camping which was way worse than this," she said and climbed back out.

I looked over at the boys as they stood staring at our perfectly pitched tent. Jacob was in the middle of securing his tent but clearly stopped to watch Jessica Stanley, nature woman extraordinaire. Quil practically had his tongue hanging out as his eyes followed Jessica as she headed out towards the trees.

"Where are you going?" I called out to her.

"We need fire wood before we settle in," she called over her shoulder.

She disappeared into the trees and we all stood there in the clearing not entirely sure if we were hallucinating or not.

After a few seconds of silence with nothing but the sound of the waves crashing in the distance, Quil eagerly dashed out of the clearing and into the trees where Jessica disappeared to.

By the time Jessica and Quil came back with piles of firewood, it was late afternoon, sunset looming within an hour. Embry and Jacob dragged bigger pieces of logs and driftwood to set up around the campfire and we had ourselves a rather impressive campsite. Although the prospect of camping seemed rather uncomfortable and grimy, I was excited to be out in nature. And of course the presence of Jacob made it a million times better.

It was pretty relaxing once we all settled in. Embry started the fire before the sun completely set and we all settled in for dinner. I quickly stripped out of my hiking gear and into my comfier outfit of leggings and a sweatshirt, bracing for the temperature drop.

Embry and Quil cackled from across the fire as they shared stories of utter humiliation from their many years of friendship.

Embry wheezed a laugh. "Jake, remember how Quil accidentally flung that flaming marshmallow into your hair like three years ago?" He snickered, "dumbass," he tossed a cashew that smacked Quil in the forehead.

"Hey!" he shouted over a mouth full of peanut butter.

Jacob breathed a laugh and shook his head beside me. "Yeah, I can laugh now but at the time I wanted to kick his ass," he grinned. "Still got the scar," he said and showed me the tiny bald spot right behind his ear.

"Oh my god!" I laughed and pushed his hair further back to look at the little patch of skin that was a different color from the rest of his bronzed skin.

"Honestly, she can't keep her hands off him," Jessica grumbled to Angela to my left.

I whipped around to look at them giggling quietly to themselves. Jacob shifted next to me and looked down at his packet of jerky. He heard.

Quil laughed. "Yeah, dude, it's crazy. Best friends my ass," he mumbled, food still in his mouth. "Her pops thought Black got her pregnant."

"Oh my god, seriously?" Jessica laughed and looked at me for confirmation.

I scrubbed my hands on my face. Thank god it was dark enough to hide the growing redness on my cheeks. "Can we not talk about it please?" I groaned.

Everyone except Jacob and I burst out laughing at our expense as I confirmed their gossip. Jacob and I had strictly avoided this topic ever since the incident happened two days ago. We both silently agreed that it was better left in the past, never to be brought up again. However, I've learned that Jacob had the worst confidant.

"You told them?" I hissed at Jacob still covering my face.

"I didn't think he would be stupid enough to bring it up," he hissed back.

"I was surprised her dad even let Jacob walk out of there alive, let alone let her come with us camping," Embry snickered.

I dropped my hands and shoved myself up from my seat. "I'm gonna go for a walk," I grumbled and headed out of the site to the path leading to the beach.

Angela gave me an apologetic smile.

"We love you Bella!" Jessica called out after me. The sound of boyish cackles following after me.

I rolled my eyes and kept walking. As much as I enjoyed spending time with Jacob, it was less enjoyable with the peanut gallery.

I breathed in the crisp, salt air as I made it into the soft sand. A tiny strip of sunlight was still visible on the horizon. I shoved my hands in my sweatshirt pocket and relished in the calming sounds of the crashing waves.

I walked slowly and noticed the scattered plumes of smoke billowing from various spots in the trees. It really was a peaceful place to be. Despite the lack of running water and warm food, it was really relaxing and pretty fun. Until someone brings up one of the most humiliating things to ever happen to me. Quil obviously had no filter and Jacob had a poor judgement when it came to who he trusted with his secrets.

I shook my head and walked slowly along the shore. I might as well use this time to call my dad.

I dialed the home phone. I had no idea if the phone service would reach this far out on the coast. Surprisingly, I was greeted with several rings.

"Hello?" My dad answered on the fourth ring.

"Hey, Dad," I said, trying not to voice my agitation.

"Hey Bells, 'bout time you called. I was about to send a search party to find you," he said half jokingly. At least someone was in a good mood.

I chuckled softly. "Yeah, sorry. It took a while to get here and set up and everything."

"Mhmm. How's the campsite? Boys treating you well?" he asked tentatively.

I sighed. "Yeah. The site is great. And the boys are, well, boys," I shrugged to myself.

I heard him sigh. "Do I want to know?" He asked.

"No I don't think so," I grinned, imagining him rubbing his forehead in frustration.

He sighed again, the sound crackling. "Well, if they give you any trouble remind them that your dad is a cop," he said sternly. I could just picture him jabbing his finger at me.

I laughed at the image. "Okay, Dad. Don't worry. I am older than them, remember?"

"Oh great, that makes me feel better," he muttered sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes halfheartedly. "They're just boys, Dad."

"Yeah, and I was their age once. To them, you're an older woman. Trust me when I say they only have one thing on their minds."

"Bella!" I heard someone call me from a ways behind me. I turned around. Jacob.

"Um, Dad, I gotta go," I said quickly.

"Did you remember your pepper spray?" He asked quickly.

"Yes, Dad. Bye!"

"Be careful!"

I ended the call and shoved my phone back in my pocket.

I few seconds later I heard his jogging footsteps approach me. "Bella," he breathed and walked in pace with me.

I stared at the sand as my feet dragged through it.

"Bella, I'm sorry. I swear I didn't think he would say anything. He's usually not that much of an ass," he grumbled and kicked a seashell.

I shrugged my shoulders and kept walking.

He was quiet for a moment.

"Are-are you mad at me?" he asked after a while.

I sighed. I couldn't ever stay mad at him. "No, Jake. I'm just embarrassed," I said. "You know, I'd rather not have that broadcasted to the world."

Jacob rubbed his face with his hands and through his hair. "I know. I'm so sorry. It was stupid. I was stupid for telling them. I mean, I had to tell someone. Your dad almost made me cry I was so fucking scared and I had no idea what I even did," he laughed humorlessly. "And I didn't want to make you more uncomfortable about the whole thing so I vented to them thinking they wouldn't be dumb enough to repeat it," he shook his head. "I need to be careful with what I say around them," he mumbled to himself.

I bit my lip. "I mean, is that all you told them?" I asked quietly, afraid of his answer.

He looked at me then. He knew what I was referring to. "Yeah, don't worry. I'm not that stupid," he grinned and looked down at his feet. "Thank god," he said quietly.

I giggled as relief flooded through me. "Yeah, thank god," I smirked and nudged him with my arm.

He laughed and nudged me back.

We walked in silence for a few moments, the beach nearly completely dark.

"So are we friends again?" he asked after a while.

I grinned. "Jacob, I don't think there will ever be a time where we won't be friends. No matter how idiotic you are sometimes," I said remembering he told me something similar before. Maybe not in the same words but close enough.

He chuckled and reached down to grab my hand out of my pocket and into his warm grasp. "That's a relief. I don't know how I would go on without you."

I rolled my eyes. "Don't be so dramatic."

He snorted. "Dramatic? This rich coming from miss 'I'm gonna go for a walk and stomp my way down the beach.'"

"Hey!" I laughed and yanked my hand back to shove him into the incoming tide.

He shouted as he stumbled ankle deep into the chilled water. "Oh Bella, these were my only shoes you little rat!" He yelled and started to charge at me.

I screeched and started to sprint back in the direction of the campsite. "Get away!" I screamed, pushing my legs faster.

Of course my pip squeak legs couldn't carry as far as his stilts for legs and he caught up to me easily. He clamped his arms around my waist and yanked me back against him. He lifted me off the ground and walked with me with his arms tight around my waist. "Say you're sorry," he said in my ear as he walked.

I clawed at his death grip and squirmed against his chest. "Never!" I grunted trying to get out of his boa constrictors.

"In you go," he said and led us to the approaching tide.

"No, no! Ok I'm sorry, Jacob!" I shouted and scrunched my legs up to avoid the water climbing up the sand.

He laughed in my ear, the sound rumbling against my back and switched back towards to direction of the camp right before the tide approached us. "Good girl," he said with a smile in his voice.

"Jerk," I grumbled and crossed my arms as he continued to carry me to the camp.

"Your jerk," he reminded me.

"Yeah, yeah," I sighed.

He chuckled and led us back up the path into the campsite, me still in his arms.

Jessica and Angela gave us meaningful glances from their seats and Embry and Quil giggled like little girls off to the side.

I could only imagine how bizarre we looked together. Did I care? Nope.
