Hello. Lets keep it going. Thank you all for being patient and supportive of me.
More Fairies Fall
Levy's eyes slowly began to open, she felt quite soar. The last thing she remembered was Virgil. She soon woke up and gasped at her current situation. Her wrists we're chained and hung above her head. She was suspended high in the air and being held by chains connecting to the ceiling that kept her arms above her head. Levy looked around and found herself in a massive dark room; the walls we're decorated with hieroglyphics of various demons.
Levy looked down and in the center of the room was a massive dark green fire in a large pit. Kneeling before the pit was none other than her kidnapper, Virgil. Virgil kneeled with his eyes closed and his katana laying in front of him.
"You're awake I see." Virgil spoke, opening his eyes. He took up Yamato and slowly got up to turn around, he looked upward towards Levy who struggled in her chains.
"Where am I? What do you want?" Levy questioned.
"You are in a temple constructed in honor of my father by an ancient civilization many centuries ago." Vergil answered. "This fire here is no ordinary fire, it's fire that has been brought from the lowest depths of the Demon World. The ancients would worship this magnificent fire for it has continued to burn for all these centuries." He walked up a long set of stairs and was soon at eye-level with the terrified Levy.
"What do you want with me?" Levy asked.
"I have no interest in a ransom or anything of that nature." Vergil told her. "I merely require an audience."
"Audience for what?'
"You'll find out soon enough." Virgil now had something to ask. "I am curious as to why my brother would associate himself with a human's guild. Granted, Fairy Tail in particular has plenty of strong wizards such as Natsu Dragneel and Erza Scarlet; but compared to the power he and I wield, why would he waste his time?"
"Why do you care?" Levy demanded, now quite irritated. "Didn't you try to kill him?"
"I only needed to acquire something in his possession, and now I have it."
"Why are you doing this? Isn't he your brother? Don't you care about him?" Levy questioned
"That's irrelevant. We may indeed be related by blood, but in this world, the only thing that truly maters in life is power. Family is meaningless compared to that." Virgil responded simply.
"How can you say that?"
"I wouldn't expect you to understand." Virgil then turned around and began to descend the steps. "Don't bother to try and struggle, those chains are capable of restricting magic so you are quite helpless."
When Vergil was about to leave, Levy called out towards him. "What are you planning to do?"
"As I said, you'll learn soon enough. Expect some company quite soon." With that, Vergil left, leaving Levy alone in the large temple room.
Magnolia
Dante was approaching the guildhall when his name was suddenly called out.
"Yo Dante!" Natsu called as he ran up towards him with Happy flying right behind him
"You want something?"
"Yeah, have you seen your brother around?" Natsu asked out of the blue.
Dante was quite surprised at that question. "Hell if I know, why do you… No. You are not gonna fight him."
"That guy needs a major beat down!" Natsu angrily said as he pound his fist into his palm. "I don't know what his problem is but…"
"I already told you no!"
"Dante, why does your brother think like he does?" Happy asked. "Cant you just talk to him?"
"I already tried, many times. Each time he nearly ran me through with his sword." Natsu angrily clenched his fist. "He can't be reasoned with. I don't know what he's up to, but it can't be good."
"So are you gonna try and find him?" Happy asked.
"I can't. He's really good at hiding. I won't find him unless he wants me to." Dante responded.
"Natsu! Dante!"
They both turned to Lucy who ran from the guild hall towards them.
"Lucy, what's up?" Dante asked.
"Something wrong?" Natsu asked as well as Lucy looked pretty upset.
"You guys need to come inside now." She told them with a serious look on her face.
Infirmary
Dante, Natsu, Happy, and Lucy quickly burst through the door into the infirmary, the three heroes we're quite surpsised at what they saw.
"Macao! Wakaba! Jet! Droy!" Happy exclaimed as they saw the four wizards lying in hospital beds; bandaged up, bruised, scratched, badly injured, and quite unconscious. Romeo was beside his father's bed looking at him with worry; Wendy was also present trying to use her magic to heal Jet with Carla beside her. Erza and Grey we're also present.
"What happened?" Dante and Natsu both questioned.
"We don't know." Erza answered. "A few citizens from town found them like this, for all the injuries they have, it's a wonder they're still alive."
"Who did this?" Natsu angrily questioned.
"No clue. But whoever it is, we'll find them." Grey said with anger on his face as well.
Lucy then remembered something. "Wasn't Levy on a job with Jet and Droy?"
"I believe she was." Carla confirmed.
"Where is she? Is she okay?" Natsu asked.
"We haven't found her yet." Erza answered. "We can only assume whoever the attacker was must have taken her."
"Someone kidnapped Levy?" Lucy asked with worry and shock.
Natsu was even more angry. Even though it wasn't shown, Dante himself was quite angry as well.
"Where's everyone else?" Dante asked.
"Many of the others left to search the area for Levy." Wendy answered. "I've been doing what I can to heal them, but their injuries… they may not be life-threating but…"
"Don't strain yourself child." Carla advised Wendy.
"Where's Trish?" Dante asked.
"She went with Gajeel and Juvia to look." Grey responded.
"Whoever did this is going to pay." Natsu growled as flames raged in his hands.
Cana, Alzack, and Bisca had just arrived on a bridge leading outside of Magnolia. They looked around for anything that could help.
"Why would someone attack just to take Levy?" Alzack wondered. "Maybe a ransom?"
"If that we're the case don't you think we would have received demands by now?" Bisca responded. "And if it we're ransom, wouldn't they try and go for Lucy? Isn't her dad supposed to be filthy rich?"
"Her dad's broke remember?" Cana reminded. "Guy can barley afford to feed himself from what I heard."
Alzack grunted. "Damn, when I find the guy who hurt Jet and Droy I'm gonna…"
Bisca put a hand on his shoulder. "Take it easy we'll find whoever did it."
"Allow me to make it easier for you."
The three wizards looked to the other side of the bridge to the one man standing in front of them.
They scowled at him as they had a good idea who it was, despite it being the first time they've seen him.
"Blue robe, katana sword, evil eyes..." Alzack began to list. "You're that Virgil-guy aren't you? Dante's brother."
"Indeed I am." Vergil answered.
"Where you the one who took Levy?" Bisca questioned.
"I was." Vergil confirmed. "Rest assured, she's still alive."
"Where is she?!" Cana demanded.
"You'll learn soon enough." Vergil responded. "I am only here for one of you; but seeing as the other two have seen me, I cannot allow you to say anything about me to my brother quite yet, do not worry, I won't kill you."
"Is that supposed to be some kind of mercy?" Alzack questioned.
"No, I just prefer not to waste my efforts on swatting insects."
This earned a glare from the three, especially Alzack. "'Insects' huh?! Well this Insect is packing some serious heat!"
"Alzack wait!" Cana and Bisca called as Alzack jumped and landed on the other side of Vergil before pulling out his guns. "Guns Magic: Tornado Shot!" Alzack shot out two tornadoes from his guns, which merged into a large one and zoomed towards Vergil who merely raised an eyebrow.
An explosion was seen, when Alzack looked to see the dust settled he was quite surprised to see nothing was there.
"Is that all?"
Alzack looked surprised and turned around to see Virgil standing behind him.
"Not even close!" Alzack aimed his guns again. "Guns Magic: Blast Bullet!" Alzack began firing a series of magic bullets all gunned straight for Vergil. Vergil unsheathed Yamato and was able to block all the bullets with his sword.
"How…?" Alzack questioned as none of the bullets even grazed him.
"You forget my brother uses a similar tactic as well, and he's a far better gunman than you are. Besides, my katana is capable of dispelling primitive attacks."
"That fancy sword of yours won't scare me!" Alzack exclaimed as he aimed his guns again, but Vergil quickly zoomed in front of him and delivered a knee to the chest, causing him to cough up blood.
"It's not the sword you should fear, but the one who is wielding it." Vergil corrected before slicing towards Alzack's chest and sending him flying and crashing through a large rock, knocking him out.
"Alzack!" Bisca called out while Cana looked shocked.
Bisca's expression turned to one of anger as she glared at the oldest Son of Sparda. "You're gonna pay for that! Requip: Big Bazooka!" In a flash of green light, Bisca now wielded a large magic bazooka and aimed it right at Vergil.
Before she could fire it however, Vergil quickly zoomed in front of her, and with a rapid slice of his sword, the bazooka fell apart in Bisca's hands; much to her shock. The next thing she knew, Vergil gave a kick and sent her falling off the bridge and into the river below.
"Bisca!" Cana called. The fall didn't kill her, but it did appear to have broken a few bones. Vergil then slightly turned towards Cana who took some steps back to gain some distance.
"I can only assume that you know who I am interested in at the moment." Vergil told her as she glared at him. "Just make it easier and come with me."
"Not on your life you bastard!" Cana took out three cards. "Card of Magic: Jolt of Fate! Explosive Flame! Wind's Edge!" She threw the cards towards him which each began to glow. However, before any of them could attain their powers, Vergil sliced with his sword quickly, causing the cards to shred into tiny bits of paper.
"How… that's… that's no ordinary sword!"
"Indeed it isn't." Vergil responded. "Now the, I believe it's my turn." Vergil sent two diagonal energy waves via diagonal slices, which Cana was unable to avoid. They hit her dead on as she screamed and flew to the other side of the bridge.
"That was surprisingly easy." Vergil spoke as he slowly approached the unconscious Cana. "I expected more from a potential candidate for S-Class. Or she may have received that out of pity. Either way, she's coming with me." Vergil was soon standing right over and attempted to reach her but he soon noticed something.
He looked down to the ground and noticed some purple runes written on it. He moved back slightly and found himself trapped in a square-shaped barrier surrounded by purple writing. "An enchantment."
"Indeed. All those bound in my enchantments are unable to escape"
Vergil turned and saw the caster of it, Freed accompanied by Evergreen and Bigslow.
"The Thunder Legion." Vergil observed. "I was actually going to come for you eventually, but you saved me the trouble. I suppose thanks are in order."
"Don't be so full of yourself bub." Bigslow stated.
"What a jerk. What a jerk." Bigslow's dolls spoke in agreement.
"A rather handsome one though." Evergreen observed as Freed and Bigslow looked at her curiously. "Just saying."
"Perhaps I may get more exercise today than I had anticipated." Vergil said.
"I do not see that happening." Freed contradicted. "As I stated, those who are bound within my enchantments are unable to escape. You cannot escape from my barrier."
"Is that so?" Vergil wondered with a raised eyebrow, lightly unsheathing Yamato. "Let us test that theory."
Vergil then began to swing Yamato so fast it looked like a bright silver blur as it impacted the barrier from all directions.
"Wasting your time buddy." Bigslow told Vergil as he continued to slice. "Nothing gets free from there."
"Just surrender and make it easier." Evergreen advised.
However, the three found themselves quite shocked as they saw what appear to be cracks in the enchantment-walls, and even more surprising was Yamato glowing a bright blue as he continued to slice. When it was glowing an even brighter blue Vergil raised it above his head and gave a large slice downward. When he did, he tore through the enchantment-walls and caused a small explosion, causing the runes to fly away and dissolve.
The dust settled and the Thunder Legion, especially Freed, couldn't believe their eyes.
"I don't… believe it… He… he cut through my barrier?!" Freed questioned.
"How the heck did you do that?!" Bigslow demanded.
"How'd you do that?! How'd you do that?!" The dolls questioned.
"It's that sword. It's not a normal sword!" Evergreen exclaimed.
"No. This is Yamato, it is the 'brother' to Dante's sword Rebellion." Vergil began to explain. "Both swords are known as Devil Arms, weapons originally owned by our father. But I wield it with far more effectiveness than he could."
"Why are you doing this? Don't you have any sense of honor or bond between you and your brother?" Freed questioned.
"This coming from the three wizards who betrayed their own guild once before." Vergil replied. "Tell me, why do you still reside here? Why weren't you expelled with that failure Laxus as well?"
"Shut up!" Evergreen yelled. "You don't know anything about him!"
"I know that he was a fool to think he could surpass his grandfather, one of the Wizard Saints. And they say I'm arrogant."
"That's it! You're done!" Evergreen yelled as she flew in close to him. She lowered her glasses and let her eyes meet his. In a brief flash, Vergil was suddenly turned to stone.
"You got him. Not so tough now are you buddy?" Bigslow taunted to the statue.
"Don't be overconfident." Freed began. "He may be arrogant, but he is also a son of the Legendary Sparda."
"Aw come on, the only one who broke out of my stone was Erza, and that was only because she had an artificial eye." Evergreen dismissed. They soon heard a cracking noise.
They looked to the statue and began to see cracks forming all around the body. They looked in disbelieve as the cracks continued to spread until, the stone was suddenly blown off and Vergil stood unaffected.
"Of course, such a spell is useless to someone who has the eyes of a devil." Vergil explained. "Now enough of your tricks, lets see if the Thunder Legion is as strong as I've heard it to be."
"You want a taste of the power of the Thunder Legion, you shall have it!" Freed declared as he unsheathed his own sword. They all flew towards him; Vergil was forced to jump back.
Freed was the first to attack with a swing of his sword, which Vergil blocked. Vergil and Freed then began to parry swords as they moved and jumped from one spot to the next. Both swung and block each attack that was dealt towards them, not a one of their swords made contact with one's flesh. Vergil jumped back and sent an energy wave towards Freed, forcing him to block it and jump back.
Bigslow then jumped behind Vergil. "Alright Babies X-Formation!" Bigslow commanded his dolls as they took the position that resembled an X and fired an x-shaped laser towards Vergil who blocked the laser with his sword.
While Vergil was blocking the laser, Evergreen hovered behind him. "My turn. Fairy Bomb: Gremlin!" Evergreen casted streams of golden fairy dust which soon surrounded Vergil, and then suddenly exploded around him.
Evergreen smiled, believing she got him, but the smile soon vanished as Vergil came zooming in and swung his sword, which Evergreen was able to avoid as she flew back upwards towards the sky.
Freed soon came in and he, Bigslow, and Evergreen surrounded Vergil. "Combine you're attacks! He can't counter all of us at once!" Freed commanded.
"Are you so certain?" Vergil questioned. "Summoned Swords!" A series of bright blue energy blades surrounded Vergil and shot repeatedly outwards towards the three members of the Thunder Legion.
Each of them was forced to move back to avoid getting hit by the repeating summoned energy blades. Bigslow's dolls were each hit and broken apart. "No! My babies!" Vergil then suddenly appeared in front of Bigslow and delivered a slash with Yamato, sending him flying upwards. Bigslow looked up to see Vergil already above him in the air, Vergil gave a drop kick, which sent Bigslow plummeting to the ground, Vergil's left foot hit Bigslow's face as he landed, knocking him out.
Evergreen recovered and glared at Vergil as he landed. "You're toast! Fairy Machine Gun: Leprechaun!" Evergreen then fired a series of rapid-fire energy bullets straight towards Vergil. He was able to quickly zoom past each and every one of the bullets, none of them so much as grazing him. He then appeared in front of Evergreen and delivered the back of Yamato to her gut. He grabbed her head and shoved it backwards into the ground, knocking her out.
Vergil then turned around towards Freed. "You're the only one left."
Freed glared at Vergil. "I will not be so easily defeated. There's a reason I lead the Thunder Legion."
"Don't misunderstand. You and your two comrades are indeed strong, not as strong as the likes of Erza, Natsu, and my brother; but still quite strong. However, the moment you crossed my path, you're defeat was inevitable."
"I don't think so." Freed then wrote an enchantment on his chest. "Dark Ecriture: Darkness!" Freed had now taken the appearance of a large demon-like creature.
"Amusing." Vergil noted as Freed suddenly zoomed in front of him and tried to slash him with his sword, but Vergil quickly zoomed back. "However, this will likely attract the attention of others, and I can't allow that yet. So I will end this now. Beowulf!"
Vergil had now quipped into his dark gauntlets and grieves. Before Freed knew it, Vergil had slammed his right gauntlet into his gut, blowing him back. Vergil then quickly came in and delivered a roundhouse to the head. Followed by a kick to the abs, a punch across the jaw, and a kick to the side. Vergil repeatedly slammed fist and foot into Freed at a pace so fast, it all seemed like a blur, and Freed was unable to keep up with it.
Vergil jumped high into the air and quickly fell down, pulling his right fist back. He then slammed it into Freed's face, causing a loud boom knocking Freed onto the ground and knocking him out. There was a small flash of purple before Freed transformed back into his human appearance.
Vergil looked around at the apparent destruction caused during his battle. "A little too over-the-top for my taste." He then looked around at the defeated Thunder Legion and then to Cana, who was still knocked out. "I was supposed to get just you, but these three had the intention of coming to me; so that's four more down, making it a total of five."
Vergil looked to the air. "Be patient brother, we will face each other again soon enough."
Done. So yeah, Vergil's got something planned. But what?
I hope you guys like this chapter. See you next time on Fairy May Cry.
