Hi. It's nice to see everyone again. I just want to clarify one thing, I have absolutely no intention of abandoning this story, I will continue it. You have my word. Also, once this thing with Vergil is taken care of, I'll be moving on with the rest of the Fairy Tail story line, starting with the Edolas Arc and moving onward, and adding a few DMC based arcs on the way there. Okay then, let's get started.

Satan Soul vs. Devil Trigger

Cana's eyes slowly begin to open as she began to wake up. Her body felt quite sore, especially in her arms, which we're being pulled above her. She heard her name being called to her.

"Cana. Cana!"

Her mind began to catch up as she slowly became fully conscious and recognized the voice that was calling to her. Cana gave a slight gasp when she saw the predicament she was in; her arms we're chained and pulled over her head, causing her to hang high in the ceiling of a large dark chamber, with a green fire in the center.

"Cana, are you alright?"

Cana looked to her left and found Levy bound in the same way.

"Levy!" Cana exclaimed. "What's going on? Where are we?" She asked as she tried to pull on her chains.

"Some ancient monastery or something dedicated to Sparda." Levy explained. "Vergil brought you guys in just a few minutes ago, and then left."

Cana scowled when she heard that name. "Vergil. Where is he? Where's that bastard?" She soon realized something. "Wait, what do you mean by 'you guys'?"

Levy motioned her head for Cana to turn around. Cana then looked to her right and was utterly surprised at what she saw. Freed, Evergreen, and Bigslow; the Thunder Legion. Each of them was bruised and fully awake, and bound in the same manner as Levy and Cana.

"Hey." Bigslow depressingly greeted, not even bothering to turn.

"Freed? All of you? He got you guys too?!" Cana exclaimed in great shock and surprise.

"Yeah." Evergreen answered simply. "We did put up a good fight, but he got lucky."

"What does he want with us?" Cana questioned.

"Don't know." Levy answered. "He said he wanted us for an audience."

"Did he say to what?" Cana asked.

"No." Levy replied. "I still can't believe he took down the Thunder Legion though."

"I just said that he got lucky!" Evergreen protested.

"Luck had nothing to do with this." Freed replied. "I felt a taste of Vergil's power, and I dare say that it rivals that of Laxus, maybe even surpasses his."

As one could imagine, that statement surprised the others quite a bit. Especially Evergreen and Bigslow.

"Are you serious?! This guy might be stronger than Laxus!?" Bigslow exclaimed

"Most likely." Freed responded. "If I we're to guess, I would say that the only being in our guild that can have any hope of defeating Vergil would be Dante. Perhaps Natsu or Erza may put up a good fight, but…"

"The only thing that can take down a Son of Sparda, is another." Levy finished.

"Let's just hope Dante can pull it off." Cana hopped.

It was late afternoon as the rest of the guild continued to search for their missing comrades. Alzack and Bisca we're both found brutally beaten and brought to the infirmary. No one had seen Cana or the Thunder Legion either, so many assumed they too have been abducted, which shocked most of them quite a bit. Many members of the guild we're now becoming irritated. A few hopped they'd find the one responsible for all this and beat him down.

In a rocky landscape, just on the outskirts of Magnolia we're two of the wizards currently searching. Mirajane and her younger brother, Elfman.

"Mira, I want you to stay close. Don't leave my sight, okay?" Elfman said.

"Elfman, I can handle myself." Mira replied. "I want to find our friends to."

"I know but…" Elfman grunted. He knew his older sister was one of the strongest in the Fairy Tail guild, an S-class wizard, but he can't stand the idea of her getting hurt. A tender hand was placed on his shoulder, and he looked down to his smiling sister.

"Don't worry little brother." Mira assured. "We'll find them, and I'll be just fine."

Elfman gave a light smile, his sister's smile was one of the few things to comfort him and bring out his soft side.

"You shouldn't make assurances that you are unable to keep."

Both Mira and Elfman turned to the sound of the voice, walking towards them was none other than the infamous older brother to Dante, Vergil.

"Dante?" Elfman mistook.

"That's not Dante." Mira replied. She could tell from the look in his eyes, the cold and dark look, that it was not the carefree devil hunter they know. "Vergil, right?"

"That is correct." Vergil confirmed. "Though I can understand why you mistook me for my brother, we are twins after all."

"We're you the one who took Levy, Cana, and the others?" Mira asked.

"I was." Vergil confirmed. "They are still alive, and you two will soon be joining them."

Elfman gave a defiant glare. "We'll see about that you freak!" Before he could charge, Mira placed an arm in-front of him. She have a slight glare at Vergil.

"Tell me, why are you doing this?" She asked Vergil. "All of it? Why attack your brother? Why take our friends? Why?"

"I understand your questioning in me abducting your guild-mates, but why this concern with your brother and me?"

"You two may be brothers, but he's also a member of our Fairy Tail family! He's a part of the same guild!" Mira told him.

"Yes, I am aware he's your newest member, though I can't understand why he associates himself with Fairy Tail." Vergil responded simply, earning a growl from Elfman.

"But why attack him? He told us about your family. Your father Sparda left when you we're both little and died soon after, and your mother was killed by demons! You two saw it!" Mira stated

"Yes I know." Vergil simply said.

"You two are the only family you have left! He's your brother, don't you care about him?! And even if you two have some kind of rivalry, can you imagine how your parents would feel towards all this? No parent wishes to see his or her children fight. So why fight your own family?!" Mira questioned.

"You are correct, I did see my own mother die, as did Dante; and we we're separated soon after." Vergil began. "Initially, I was saddened, that is until I realized the truth."

"'The truth'?" Elfman questioned.

"The truth about life. Seeing what happened made me realize the only absolute in this world, past or present; power. In the end, power is the only thing that matters; if you are strong then you live, if you are weak you die. This extends to both humans and demons. So you have your answer, I don't care for my brother, and I take no joy in fighting him. I severed my human emotions and attachments, and devoted my life to obtaining power. That is the only real purpose in life" Vergil explained, with no emotion in his voice what-so-ever.

Mira honestly couldn't believe what she just heard. How can anyone just throw away all their emotion and what they hold dear? How can this man truly be Dante's brother? Elfman however, was quite angry as he glared at Vergil.

"You!" Elfman growled.

"Yes?" Vergil acknowledged simply with a raised eyebrow.

"Listen up you ungrateful bastard! A real man never throws away all that. A real man wouldn't talk about family it's nothing!"

"A real man you say?" Vergil questioned. "Honestly I don't quite understand that. If someone is physically male, how can they not be a real man, as you say?"

"That's it!" Elfman yelled. "You're going down!" He yelled as he charged forward.

"Elfman no!" Mira tried to stop but he was already closing in on Vergil.

"Beast Arm: Black Bull!" Elfman's right arm transformed into a large black arm and he lunged straight for Vergil, who quickly vanished in a blur and appeared behind Elfman. Elfman noticed and tried to swing his arm back, but Vergil vanished again and reappeared on a rocky ledge ten feet away.

Vergil sighed. "Why can't they ever come quietly? There's no point in fighting when they are obviously going to loose."

Elfman yelled as he punched the rock causing it to shatter, Vergil jumped up and unsheathed Yamato and gunned straight for Elfman. He swung downward and Elfman tried to block the strike with his Black Bull arm, but Yamato was able to give a deep gash in the arm as Vergil appeared behind Elfman who clutched his bleeding arm.

"Elfman!" Mira yelled as she saw the long bleeding gash on her brother's transformed arm.

Elfman glared at Vergil again as he jumped and tried to bring his blade down again. "Beast Arm: Iron Bull!" Elfman's right arm changed again and this time, into one coated in metal, and he actually caught Yamato before it hit, causing Vergil to slightly raise an eyebrow. Elfman tried to punch Vergil with his untransformed arm, but Vergil quickly jumped back out of his grip.

"You caught my blade." Vergil observed. "Impressive. Normally that would have sliced your arm in half. However, I have the sense your holding back."

"What?" Elfman angrily questioned.

"From what I heard, you are capable of achieving full-body take over. So why not use it? I simply despise those who hold back their true power." Vergil observed.

"Shut up!" Elfman responded angrily. "And besides, you're on to talk! Hiding behind that fancy sword of yours! If you're a real man, you'd fight me fist-to-fist!"

Vergil actually contemplated that. "Why not?" He said as he sheathed Yamato. "I might as well if you are going to throw a childish tantrum over it. But I urge you to show your true power. Unleash the beast inside you, don't hold back." Vergil challenged as he motioned with his hand to bring it on.

"You got it! Take Over: Beast Soul!" Elfman had now transformed into his beast form and loomed over Vergil.

"Big. But I have slain bigger." Vergil observed.

The beast that is Elfman quickly moved towards Vergil and came zooming in with a large punch; but Vergil was able to catch the punch and use the momentum to toss Elfman's body over his own and send him flying; with just one hand.

Mira looked in surprise at Vergil's strength. He tossed Elfman with just one hand?!

Elfman landed painfully on the ground. He soon got up though and glared at Vergil. "Is that all you got?" Elfman challenged.

"Not even close." Vergil replied. "Beowulf!" Vergil, once-again, quipped into his dark gauntlets and grieves. Using the boost in speed, he zoomed straight for Elfman and was able to give him a right sock in the jaw, sending him flying straight up. Vergil then appeared above Elfman just as he stopped his ascent, and delivered an axe-kick. The force was great enough the send Elfman hurtling towards the ground. When he impacted, it caused a shockwave of dust, causing Mira to cover her face.

Vergil appeared right in front of the crater with his back turned, and eyes closed. Elfman roared as he emerged for the crater and tried to bash him with his large head. Without even turning around, Elfman moved to the right side as the head impacted the ground, and in the same moment, Vergil gave a kick to the head and a punch to go along with it, sending Elfman rolling on the ground.

When Elfman tried to get up, Vergil zoomed in with a punch to the gut sending him flying through several rocks and right into the base of a small mountain. When Elfman tried to move Vergil came for his gut again and punched with Beowulf at a pace so rapid, it almost seemed a blur. As he punched more cracks formed on the mountain. It ended when Vergil reared both his fists back and gave a powerful punch to Elfman. The shockwave was enough to cause a small rockslide, tumbling onto the take-over user.

"ELFMAN!" Mira cried as the boulders buried him.

Once the rockslide stopped, Vergil slightly kicked a small rock off the pile, revealing Elfman's face, no longer in beast form, just a man. He grimaced as he glared at Vergil.

"It's a shame." Vergil began. "If you we're unconscious, you wouldn't be feeling the pain right now." Elfman's glare persisted. "I can remedy that if you wish." Vergil grabbed Elfman's head by the hair and pulled his left fist back (with Beowulf still on). "But I must thank you for that little 'contest of strength', it was quite exhilarating."

"Vergil!"

Before he could punch he turned around to see Mirajane looking at him with a harsh glare.

"Mira… get back." Elfman grunted, still pinned under the rocks.

"So, you wish to fight now then?" Vergil guessed.

"I don't like to fight." Mira stated. "But that doesn't mean I wont. If you want a taste of power, I'll show you power. And I wont let you hurt my brother!" A dark magic circle appeared under her. "Take Over: Satan Soul!"

There was a bright purple flash, causing the trapped Elfman to cover his eyes, Vergil just looked onward unaffected. When the flash subsided, a much different Mira stood before him. She assumed her She-Devil form.

"Now it's getting interesting." Vergil observed.

Mira yelled as she zoomed straight for Vergil, he was able to block one punch with his right Beowulf gauntlet, but she gave a fierce kick to the head, knocking him back quite the distance. He stopped his momentum by driving the greaves of Beowulf into the ground.

"Demon Blast!" Mira yelled as she shot a dark purple beam towards Vergil.

Vergil put away Beowulf and unsheathed Yamato. He was able to use his blade to cut the large beam in half; both halves zoomed past him and exploded behind him.

Mira charged in towards Vergil again and laid a series of fast punches, but Vergil blocked them all using his blade. Mira's fists we're protected from the sword by a dark aura around them. It seemed like a large blur was between them, none of them made a successful hit on the other.

Vergil jumped back quite the distance. "Summoned Swords!" Vergil casted a series of blue energy blades that all barreled straight for Mira.

"Evil Explosion!" Mira brought both her hands together and created a dark purple explosion in front of her, which blew away all the energy swords.

When the dust cleared, Mira was surprised to hear the sound of slow clapping. She looked as the dust settled to see Vergil standing and slowly clapping his hands together.

"Impressive. Most impressive." He admitted. "Your use of magic is strong, it is clear that you have indeed earned your ranking as an S-Class wizard. However, I find the title of 'She-Devil' to be unsuited for you."

"What?" Mira questioned.

"You claim to have Devil Powers." Vergil began to explain. "While it is indeed true that your transformation is called 'Satan-Soul', it is clear that you have, and will always lack, the power of a True Devil."

Mira glared at Vergil, but Elfman just looked confused as he was still pinned. What did he mean by True Devil?

"I suppose you know what that power is?" Mira guessed.

"Indeed I do." Vergil answered. "Perhaps you would like a demonstration." A dark blue aura formed around Vergil as he closed his eyes and wind began to circle around him, the air was stinging as it turned to dark blue as well. "Let me show you the power of a true devil!" Vergil opened his eyes to reveal they we're black with blue irises.

There was a large dark blue explosion, forcing Mira to cover his face, and the still-pinned Elfman to close his eyes. The dust finally settled, and the sight that stood before the two take-over siblings made both of their eyes become so wide, they we're almost circular.

The being that stood before them was all blue, with a few black stripes near the bottom. He had blue-clawed feet, and black claws. On his right arm, the sheathed blade of Yamato appeared to be a part of the arm itself. There we're silver horns on his head and dark blue eyes.

"This is the power of a True Devil, the power of my father's blood in my veins. This is my Devil Trigger"

Vergil's voice was now much deeper, and sounded much more demonic, the sound of that voice was enough to send a chill down Mira' spine.

In less than a second, the Devil-Trigger Vergil was right in front of her, and gave her a punch to the face. It was enough that created a shockwave around the surrounding area, and sent Mira flying through seven large boulders. She tried to get up, but Vergil appeared in front of her again and gave a cartwheel kick that sent her flying high into the air.

She was able to stabilize herself with her wings and however, but Vergil now appeared in front of her. He was now sporting, four black demonic wings on his back; two pointing left, two pointing right.

"You seem much slower." Vergil observed. As he held the unsheathed Yamato in a flash and zoomed past Mira in the blink of an eye, slashing at her side, causing her to yell in pain and hold the wound. "Oh right of course. It's only because I'm faster when I'm like this. And I'm also much stronger."

Vergil gave her a good kick to the abs causing her to fly back far away in the air. The ensuing areal brawl continued as Mira stabilized herself.

"Demon Blast!" Mira blasted the same attack again. Only this time, Vergil flew straight for it, sword pointed outward. The sword impacted the beam and scattered it as he flew through it like nothing. He flew straight past Mira, causing her to yell as the blade pierced through her. She held her side as she looked behind and saw Vergil give her a kick to the head, sending her plummeting to the ground.

Mira tried to get back up as she landed, but Vergil grabbed her by the hair and tossed her back into the air, before Vergil took flight again after her.

Elfman could only look in surprise and shock. How…? He's… She can't keep up with him. How strong is this guy?!

Back in the air, Mira tried to throw a dozen of several small dark purple energy balls towards Vergil, but he swung Yamato and created a dark blue energy wave that encompassed all the balls and hit Mira, causing an explosion.

Mira was only barley able to keep herself hovering. His… power…. It's like his power has doubled… maybe even tripled.

"You are still standing." Vergil observed. "Normally that would have killed someone, but I expect no less from the strongest of the Strauss siblings."

Mira glared even further.

"However, that being said, I can only guess why there's only two left, considering the power you wield."

"What are you…" Mira struggled.

"What was her name again?" Vergil pondered. "Ah yes, Lisanna."

Both Mira and Elfman's eyes went wide as soon as they heard Vergil say that name.

"Your younger sister. Though it makes sense what happened to her. From what I know, she was the weakest of the Take-Over users of your guild, and as I said before; if your weak, you die."

"Shut up!" Mira yelled. "You don't know anything about her!"

"I know that Elfman down there blames himself for her fate."

"It wasn't his fault!" Mira exclaimed.

"I agree." Vergil stated, earning a surprised look from Mira. "What happened to Lisanna was clearly not his fault. It was yours."

Elfman's eyes went wide at that statement.

"You had the power to protect her. You could have done a number of things. You could have stopped Elfman yourself. Or at the very least, out could have knocker her out and carried her to safety; but no, you just stood by and watched."

Mira's breath had grown louder, almost like a growl.

"I am also curious as to how Natsu Dragneel handled the news. Oh wait, that right there is another reason it was your fault. Didn't he want to come with you? But you told him no, you shot him down. He defiantly had the power that could have saved her, but you didn't allow him to come with you. From what I gather, they had quite a history; they we're once very close friends, perhaps maybe something more than that."

Mira clenched both her hands into tight fists as Vergil continued.

"So, when he heard? How did he handle it? Was he distressed, was he angered? He wasn't even there to witness her final breaths; it must have been quite infuriating. He lost someone he truly and deeply cared for, one could only imagine the pain he felt. How we're you able to tell him what happened? Did you cry when you told him? Or did you allow your brother to explain it and have him take the fall, rather than face it yourself. As I said, might controls everything. You may have strong magic powers, but deep down, you are weak; and Lisanna paid the price for your weakness.

"SHUT UP!" Mira yelled at the top of her lungs as she tried to lay a furry of punches onto Vergil, who was able to avoid all of them with ease.

"YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING! YOU HEAR ME?! YOU DON'T!" Mira pulled back a bit before bringing her hands together. "Soul Extinction!" She unleashed one of her most powerful attacks; blasting a massive dark purple beam straight for Vergil, which then erupted into a large dark explosion that could be seen from miles around.

Mira gave deep breaths as she was exhausted and barley able to hover in the air. She looked as the dust settled and there was no one present.

"Was it something I said?"

Mira's eyes went wide as soon as she heard that. She quickly turned around and saw the Devil-Trigger Vergil behind her, with his sword raised high; a massive dark blue beam shot out from the sword, taking the formation of an even larger sword.

Vergil brought the blade down on Mira, who screamed as it hit. There was an even larger, bright explosion.

The still-pinned Elfman was forced to close his eyes. When the flash subsided he looked in horror at the sight of Mira, who was now in her normal form, and unconscious fall down the sky and straight for the ground.

"MIRA!" Elfman cried as she fell.

However, before she hit the ground, the Devil-Trigger Vergil was able to catch her bridal style. He landed softly on the ground. Blue steam came off Vergil's body as he slowly changed back into his human appearance. Mira was bruised, her dress was tattered, but she was still breathing.

"You bastard! Get your hands off of her!" Elfman scolded at Vergil. He began to walk towards him as he carried her.

"Don't worry she's still alive. She would be no use to me dead." Vergil assured.

"You… you don't know anything about her! Or me! And you definitely know squat about Lisanna!" Elfman exclaimed.

"I said what I know, it's that simple." Vergil said. "But why do you take the blame for it, when it was clearly not your fault, but hers?" He questioned gesturing to the unconscious Mira that he still carried.

"Why do you care?" Elfman growled.

"I don't. I'm merely curious, that's all." Vergil answered.

Elfman glared as Vergil was now standing over him. "Earlier, you implied that I am not a man." Vergil recalled. "I agree with you." He raised his right boot. "I am far superior to any man." He finished before brining the boot down on Elfman's face.

Done. I hope you all like this. BTW, Vergil's Devil Trigger is based on its appearance in DMC 3, just wanted to let you know.

See you all next time.
