Hi. I'm sure you're all quite eager to see these battles go. So then, without any further delay; let us begin. I do not own Fairy Tail, nor do I own Devil May Cry; or any of the characters that belong to either franchise.

Natsu vs. Griffon

Lady and Trish fought at the base of the large lake. A multitude of Mermaid-Demons, each wielding a trident, lunged from the lake toward the two female devil hunters with sinister intent.

Trish blocked three trident attacks with her sword, Sparda. She then sent an electric jolt from both her hands, through the sword, and sliced the tridents, and the three Mermaids in half. She lunged her left hand forward, and sent a blast of blue lightning directly through three more Mermaids, leaving holes in their chests before they all fell over and died.

Lady jumped to avoid a trident stab; she then pulled out both her pistols and shot bullets through the demon in front of her. Two more tried to jump her from behind, but she kicked one aside and shot the other one in the head. She used kicked the trident from the dead Mermaid and it impaled the last one. When four tried to lunge towards her, she jumped high. She pulled out her bazooka and shot at the mermaids below. She gracefully landed, and without looking, she lunged her rocket behind her, and the attached blade pierced through the chest of the oncoming Mermaid.

Trish and Lady then stood back-to-back as more Mermaids surrounded them. The demons snarled at their two adversaries.

"You doing alright?" Lady asked.

"Just warming up." Trish replied. "This the best Vergil's got?"

"But let's wrap this up quick; the others may need our help taking that freak down." Lady suggested.

"Read my mind." Trish agreed. She charged her hands and sword with lighting as Lady readied her weapons.

Castle Rooftops.

Griffon screeched as he dived forward, beak first. Natsu avoided it just in time as the beak pierced the roof. Using this to his advantage, Natsu charged forward.

"Fire Dragon Talon!" Natsu delivered a flaming kick straight at Griffon's head; forcing the giant demonic bird back. Natsu wasn't through yet as he used fire from his feet as a booster and launched directly at Griffon. "Fire Dragon Sword Horn!" Natsu head-butted Griffon. The impact forced Griffon into the air, who stabilized himself with his wings soon after.

"You are much stronger than the average human." Griffon admitted. "However, I am far superior to your worthless kind!"

Griffon then flapped his wings and sent several large bolts of red lightning down toward Natsu. The Fire Dragon Slayer was able to jump and dodge most of the lightning bolts, but one landed in front of him, knocking him back; that was enough for Griffon to launch a rather large bolt of red lighting, which scored a direct hit.

Griffon looked down with a smile, but it vanished when the dust settled and Natsu was still standing.

"Sorry birdbrain; but I got experience with lightning!" Natsu called up to him.

"Amusing. This may indeed prove to be a challenge for once." Griffon stated. He flew down to Natsu and tried to squash him with his large talons; but Natsu caught them with his hands. The Salamander was pushed back a bit; but once he dug his feet into the ground, Natsu slowly stopped and wouldn't move.

"Think you can outmuscle me? Ain't gonna happen you Dodo-Bird!" Natsu yelled as he used Griffon's momentum to flip the demon bird over him, sending him rolling across the massive rooftop.

When Griffon recovered he saw Natsu in the air just above him. "Fire Dragon Brilliant Flame!" Natsu tossed a massive fireball straight for the surprised demon bird. With no time to react, Griffon flapped his wings and sent an equally large red lightning ball straight at the attack.

Both collided and created a massive explosion of fire and lightning. Griffon soared back in the air from the dust, and Natsu stood his ground.

"I don't got time to play around with you! I gotta kick your ass real quick so I can rescue my friends!" Natsu stated.

"What?! You we're going easy on me?! You dare to take me so lightly!? I am a demon general! Servant of the mighty Mundus! I will not be treated like a meager beast not even worth the effort!" Griffon yelled.

"Mundus huh?" Natsu questioned. "Tell me something. You say you serve Mundus; so why are you helping Vergil?"

"You believe I want to aid him?! That insolent fool bares the same wretched blood of the accursed Sparda! However, due to an artifact he stole; Vergil has forced me into his service. However, he stated that if I kill you, he will free me from his grasp." Griffon explained.

"So you're a slave." Natsu deduced.

"I am NO slave!" Griffon fiercely replied. "Once I am freed, I will kill that vile half-demon, and his brother. Then Mundus will greet me with great praise for ridding the blood line of Sparda once and for all!"

"That ain't' gonna happen you overgrown Turkey!" Natsu exclaimed.

"You are defending Vergil?" Griffon questioned.

"HELL NO!" Natsu replied. "Vergil kidnapped my friends! I ain't defending that piece of crap! But you also threatened Dante, and he's my friend! Anyone who threatens my friends will be burnt to a crisp!"

"I've had enough of your tomfoolery! Prepare to die!" Griffon roared as he flapped his wings at a rapid rate; creating a large windstorm surrounding him. Griffon then roared as he blasted a massive red lightning bolt straight for Natsu.

"You first! Fire Dragon Roar!" Natsu unleashed his breath attack; sending an equally large torrent of flame from his mouth.

Both attacks collided and we're in a large struggle of one trying to overpower the other. Both opponents glared at each other as they we're still locked in a stand off; but the fire was able to push the lighting back and it blasted straight for the surprised Griffon.

After a large explosion; the smoking Griffon began to fall; but he soon stabilized himself with his wings and was now hovering closer to Natsu. No. It couldn't be. Griffon thought. He recognized the sensation of that fire; he knew he felt Natsu's attacks felt somewhat familiar.

"You are no ordinary human. Your attacks, your ferocity. They bear near equal strength to that of a dragon." Natsu looked surprised at Griffon's statement. But not just any dragon; your fire, that stench you carry; it is the same of that foul beast Igneel!"

Natsu's eyes went wide at that.

"You know Igneel?" Natsu questioned.

"Yes, that foul creature." Natsu glared at Griffon for saying that. "When Sparda defected to this world, he had found powerful allies; the dragons. When Master Mundus and his forces attacked your world, it wasn't just Sparda who came to their defense, the dragons also aided him in his cause. The Fire Dragon, Igneel was one who stood with and fought with the traitor.

Dante's dad knew Igneel? Natsu questioned in his mind.

"I have clashed with that Dragon on multiple occasions, and yet somehow, I lost each battle. Now thanks to you, I have a new goal that I must achieve before I return to my true master. After I kill both the sons of Sparda, I will hunt down that vile dragon and bring his severed head to Master Mundus!" Griffon boasted.

Natsu's pupils shrunk with anger and it looked like he was about to pop a vein. "I'M NEVER GONNA LET THAT HAPPEN! Before you can even think about killing Igneel, which by the way you can't, you have to kill me first!"

"That is my plan!"

Griffon soared and caught Natsu in his claws. He then began to fly straight up towards the night, cloudy sky. He kept flying higher and higher as Natsu struggled in his grip.

"This will mark the end of you; Dragon Slayer!" Griffon stated.

"I don't think so!" Natsu exclaimed as his whole body suddenly lit on fire. Griffon was surprised but still held his grip as he continued to fly higher. Natsu's fire began to grow, both in strength and intensity. Griffon felt the heat begin to scorch his feet until the flames engulfed his lower body; forcing Griffon to let go.

He saw the flaming Natsu begin to fall. The fool. He's doomed himself, not even he can survive a fall from this height

Surprisingly however, Natsu blasted fire from his feet and soared at amazing speeds straight up for Griffon; who was so stunned he couldn't even move. Natsu soared with a flaming fist and severed Griffon's right wing; much to the demon's shock.

The demon screeched in pain as his left wing began to flap rapidly, to keep him from falling. Natsu stopped his ascent and sent a massive wave of fire with the sweep of his legs. The wave hit Griffon's left wing, causing it to explode. Griffon yelled even more in pain and began to scream as he began to fall back towards the castle.

Natsu, still covered with flames, fell after him. "I'm doing playing games with you pal! You're done! Dragon Slayer Secret Art: Flame Lotus Phoenix Sword!"

Natsu's flaming body flew at an even faster rate, and the flames surrounding his body took the form of a flaming spear. The falling Griffon looked in fear as Natsu soared at him with incredible speeds and pierced through his body like a flaming arrow.

As soon as he did, Griffon thought his last thoughts. This boy… the power he wields… he's a true… Dragon Slayer.

Griffon's body exploded; in a massive blast of fire and red lightning that rocked and shook the clouds in the sky.

Natsu landed on the castle rooftop on both his feet and his right fist, and made a bit of a crater. The flames died around him as some small flaming pieces of the deceased Griffon fell around him.

"I hope you saw that Igneel. That was for you." Natsu spoke to himself. "Now I gotta rescue my friends." He then began to shout. "If you can hear me Vergil, I hope you saw that to, BECAUSE YOU'RE NEXT!"

Back at the lake; Trish and Lady each took a few deep breaths to catch their breath as they we're surrounded by the mutilated, sliced, blown up, and scorched bodies of dozens of Mermaid demons.

"Well… that was fun." Trish stated.

"That depends on how you define fun." Lady replied.

They both heard a loud explosion and looked towards the castle and saw a massive firey explosion with some red lightning.

"Natsu?" Lady questioned.

"Natsu." Trish confirmed.

"Damn, he's more destructive than Dante, and that's saying something." Lady commented.

"Five hundred dollars says he's gonna start hunting Vergil down." Trish theorized. "Maybe we should give him a helping hand."

"Good idea." Lady agreed. "Lets also hope the others are doing okay to."

The two then began to run back to the castle as they hoped to find a few of the guild wizards before they could find Vergil; for all their sakes.

Done. I know it seemed kinda short. I also know that you are all looking forward to the confrontation with Vergil, and that will come soon. Trust me, you will like what you read when it comes. I only ask that you be a little more patient, I promise it will be worth the wait.
