It was happening again.
Someone was foolish enough to leak gas from a container, someone lit a cigarette, just about everyone died but 3.
Time and soul travel.
They meet up with their family's souls in a huge mansion, crying as they know they don't have everyone there.
Some were just tired of it.
Some just couldn't make it.
In a desperate attempt to save those that remain, they go to a woman that can get them all out of this world. Unfortunately running into the person that cursed them on the way to her, only to have one of them send her far away in a last ditch effort to give them time.
It won't be much.
They hurry into the back room and gather 'round her table. She tells them to be silent and not to disturb her, she has to concentrate and get this right.
There won't be another chance like this.
Time moves, they're all in a van together, speeding down the road at frightening speeds, taking turns way too fast.
It's raining.
There's horse drawn wagons from a parade.
The woman they went to is driving.
They're not just souls anymore.
They're alive again.
Time slows, the world freezes, you see the future in slow motion as it happens and you and another grab each other and one more, it's all you could reach.
The three appear in the middle of a street, none of the others in sight, taking each other's hand and moving quickly... one girl no longer remembers. She just wants to ride the local carriage... she's never done it.
She thinks.
She's ridden one every day of her life.
You take her hand and run with her, promising to ride it with her every day if she'll just come on.
They pass by a fuel tanker full of propane down the street and past a few buildings into a huge one with a whole room of horses ready to be tacked up to various wagons.
You say, "Do you want to just take one and ride away together?"
"Really? You'd do that with me?"
"Yes, I love you, silly. "
Crying. You're crying as you say this.
It's coming.
You look at the other witch. They can't time travel again, they're spent.
Distant tires screeching and people screaming.
The van.
Their van.
It careens into the alley and plows into the corner of the flimsy wall behind the oil tanker and it explodes, the blast knocking the three down even inside the building. The girl that doesn't remember falls and you catch her, covering her body with your own.
Time ends.
When it begins anew... there's only the two girls... Riding in a wagon in their beautiful gowns.
The others were in the van.
Their souls didn't make it.
She still doesn't remember.
But you do.
You remember everything.
You watched your family die in that van.
She found you. All of you.
You sent away the wrong person before. The lady that was supposed to help you was really the one that cursed you, disguised.
Now there's just two of you left... and there's a storm brewing on the horizon.
The horses are spooked.
There's a long bridge ahead, a long drop on either side.
You're the only one that knows.
You can't stop this.
She doesn't remember, so she smiles at you, excited. She loves riding over this bridge.
You love her.
You're tired.
