Hello people. Sorry for the long wait, I had to get a few things done. Anyway, thank you for your patience. However, before we get started on the Edolas arc, I just had a small chapter based off the Devil May Cry anime series, with a slight alteration from the cannon episode. Anyway, thanks for waiting. Here it is.

The Last Promise

Dante walked through the foggy streets of Magnolia. The streets we're empty and it was quiet, too quiet. The only sound came from Dante walking. He passed by a small alley and heard a certain noise. He turned and saw a demon slowly approach him, only for it to fall over dead. He scoffed and prepared to head on his way, however…

Someone rushed him from the alleyway and pinned him to a building on the other side of the road. He crossed his dual swords in an x-formation, bringing them close to Dante's neck. This man had green eyes with white spiky hair; he wore a white trenchcoat with a high collar lined with gold. He had white shoulder pads as well as a white shirt, pants and grieves. He had a look of darkness in his eyes.

"So you're Sparda's son."

"So what if I am, Milk-man?" Dante asked.

"The answer is oblivious. I'll take your soul."

"Fire Dragon Roar!"

The man looked to his left and saw a stream of fire heading towards him. A large explosion erupted in front of Dante. By the time the smoke cleared, the man in white was gone.

"Hey, if you're gonna help me, how about hold it down a little." Dante stated as a certain Dragon Slayer walked up.

"Sorry, not my style." Natsu said with an eager grin, to which Dante flashed an amused smile. "So who was that guy anyway?"

"A demon." Dante answered as they both looked into the fog. "A white demon."

Later that day, around lunchtime; Natsu, Dante, and Happy sat in a booth with Wendy and Carla telling them about what happened earlier today.

"A white demon?" Wendy asked.

"Yeah, that's right. But he looked human." Natsu recalled.

"Many demons are capable of disguising themselves as humans." Dante said.

"That's kinda creepy. Not knowing if someone is a human or a demon." Happy stated.

"Which would make it easy for a demon to infiltrate a human area without noticing." Carla added.

"That guy looked like a human, but he didn't smell like one." Natsu pointed out.

"So how can you tell if it was a demon, Dante?" Wendy asked.

"It's their eyes." He answered. "You can always tell by looking into their eyes; no matter how good they disguise themselves, demons always have a spark in their eyes."

"It's a good thing we got a demon on our side, right?" Happy asked with a smile, nudging Dante a bit. There was a sudden sound of glass shattering at the bar, getting their attention.

"What was that?! I dare you to say that again!" The bartender exclaimed angrily to a man at the bar. He had long black hair with gold eyes and pointed ears. He wore a black trenchcoat with a black shirt, pants, and shoes.

"Please don't misunderstand me I just…" the man in black began.

"Shut up and get the Hell outta here!" The bartender interrupted.

A waitress walked up to the table where the Fairy Tail members we're sitting. "Thanks for waiting." She said as she put the drinks in front of the wizards and a strawberry sundae in front of Dante.

"Hey, what's going on over there?" Happy asked.

"Oh that guy at the bar said the boss's strawberry sundaes weren't very good." The waitress answered.

"'Strawberry sundaes'?" Wendy questioned. "You mean like this?" She pointed to the one Dante ordered.

Natsu and Dante both found themselves looking towards the man in black.

"If I offended you I apologize." The man began as Dante slowly took a bite of his sundae. "I only meant that using slightly less sugar would make them…"

"Shut your face you bastard! I don't even want your money! Hurry up and get…"

"Hold on their old man." Dante interrupted, getting everyone's attention. "I've got a bit of an attachment to the sundaes here myself. But they seem to be a bit sweeter than usual today. That man is right."

Five minutes later the door was closed with a 'closed' sign hanging from it. The waitress still gave a friendly wave from inside as Dante, Natsu, Happy, Wendy, Carla, and the man in black all stood outside.

"He got all moody." Happy observed.

"That guy can't really seem to take criticism pretty well, huh?" Natsu guessed.

"He won't be getting any more customers with that attitude." Carla pointed out.

"Underneath that rough exterior, he's nothing but a big softie." Dante said.

"Seems I may have hurt his feelings." The man in black observed. He and Dante looked at each other for a bit. Natsu looked towards this man as well, something about he smelled caught the dragon slayer's attention.

D.. D… Demon!" A terrified man exclaimed as he was backed against the wall. "Please! SOMEONE HELP! She... She's a demon!"

Trish walked up with an eager smile. "Yes, that's right. I'm a demon, and what might you be?"

The man went from being scared to giving a sinister cackle. "You're right." The skin was torn off his body to reveal a red monster with tentacle-arms. "I'm also… A Demon!"

He lunged forward, only for Trish to pull out a pistol and shoot him in the chest multiple times. Trish then kicked him back towards the wall and she pinned his head down with her boot.

"Are you still breathing?" She asked. "I've got a question for you. Do you know anything about the white demon that's been showing it's face around here?"

"No." The demon grunted. "Even if I did, I wouldn't tell you…" Trish pointed a pistol towards the demon's head. "I was lying! I was lying!" He exclaimed. "I know who you're talking about. They call that guy Sparda's apprentice!"

"'Apprentice'?" Trish questioned with much surprise in her voice.

"Yes, that's right. He's supposed to be a really tough demon. The rumor is, when he takes a sword in his hand, thousands of demons get killed in a split second!"

Trish began to think a bit on this.

"Um… are we through yet Miss? Can I… eat you now?!" The demon's jaw expanded, throwing Trish off.

It lunged towards her but she flipped over and sent a blue bolt of lighting from her hand, which shot through the demon's chest, killing it.

Fairy Tail Guildhall.

"Sparda's Apprentice?!" Lucy questioned.

Trish began to explain what the demon told her, to many of the guild wizards present, Dante included.

"Yeah, I heard a lot of rumors like that around town." Trish explained.

"Do you know anything about this Dante?" Erza asked.

"Nope, this morning was the first time I ever saw the creep."

"So you don't even know his name or what he's after?" Grey questioned.

"Didn't say a name, but he said he was gonna try and take my soul." Dante replied.

"You're soul?" Juvia questioned.

"Yeah, that's not scary or anything." Lucy said sarcastically.

"We'll be cautious." Makarov said. "But not overly so, I'm sure we'll see him again."

"So we just sit back and do nothing then?" Trish asked.

"That's exactly what we'll do for now." Makarov replied. "Proceed as if nothing's happened, that should provoke him into acting sooner rather than later."

"Don't worry; we'll defiantly pay this guy back, plus interest." Lucy stated.

"Well that's nice of you guys and all, but he asked for me directly." Dante said as he began to walk out. "I won't let anyone interfere."

"Still going for the whole lone wolf act huh?" Grey observed.

"Give him some time, he's still relatively new to the guild." Erza assured.

"Either that or he's just trying to act tough." Lucy said.

"Probably the latter, knowing him." Trish said with an amused smile.

Southgate Park.

Night had fallen over the city and the moon was full. The park was empty save for one man, the man in black, who sat in the park bench and looked to the full moon.

"A demon who fought to protect the Human World. My mentor, Sparda the Dark Knight. It's been two thousand years since that battle. And now the one who has appeared before us is not you, but your son Dante."

It was now morning in Southgate Park. Children played as adults talked and people seemed to go about their usual business. The man in black still sat in the same bench since last night. He merely observed the peacefulness of the day with a small smile.

"Hello there."

He looked to his right see Wendy, with Carla, walk up towards him.

"Oh hello." He greeted.

"You're that man from yesterday, right?" Wendy asked.

"Yeah."

"I never did get your name, my name is Wendy, and this is Carla. It's nice to meet you." She offered a friendly handshake.

"The feeling is mutual." He shook her hand. "My name is Modeus."

"That's a very nice name." Wendy said as she sat next to him.

"So, what are you doing just sitting here?" Carla asked.

"Nothing." Modeus answered. "Just people-watching."

"People-watching?" Carla questioned.

"It's times like these that you appreciate peace." Modeus explained. "These children who laugh and play, without any care in the world. It always seems to make me feel at peace."

"That's a nice way of looking at the world." Wendy observed.

Modeus noticed a certain guild mark on her shoulder. "You're a wizard from Fairy Tail, aren't you?"

"You know about Fairy Tail?" Wendy asked.

"Yes, it's quite a well-known guild." Modeus answered. "A group of wizards working together to protect those who cannot protect themselves. I find it quite admirable."

"That is when their not busy destroying half the world they are supposed to be protecting." Carla pointed out.

Wendy giggled while Modeus looked amused. "If you don't mind me asking, what kind of magic do you use?"

"I use healing and support magic. Actually, I'm a Sky Dragon Slayer." Wendy answered.

Modeus was a bit surprised. "A dragon slayer?"

"Yep. I was taught my magic by the Sky Dragon, Grandeeney." Wendy answered.

"Mentored by a dragon." Modeus said. He looked towards the sky. "Dragons are extraordinary creatures, aren't they?"

"You know about the dragons?" Carla asked.

"Yes, I've met quite a few in my time." Modeus replied.

Wendy had sparkles in her eyes as soon as she heard that. "Wow. You knew dragons!"

Modeus smiled at Wendy.

This was being observed just outside the park by another Dragon Slayer and his flying cat.

"Hey Natsu, isn't that the same guy from yesterday?" Happy asked.

"Yeah that's him." Natsu replied. He picked up his scent. "Something about him though is making me a little… uneasy."

"Well he seems like a nice guy." Happy pointed. "Carla and Wendy over there seem to like him."

"But he smells a lot like that white demon that attacked Dante." Natsu replied, surprising Happy.

"He smells like him?!"

"Yeah I…" Natsu picked up a small whiff, and he growled a bit. "Speak of the devil."

From on top of a building near the park; Modeus was being watched by someone else. It was the aforementioned white demon, staring down at him.

"Hey you!"

He turned around to see Natsu flying towards him. "Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" Natsu's fists we're engulfed with flame as he tried to punch him. The white demon leaped back just as Natsu punched the ground. He lunged forward but the white demon ducked and gave a powerful roundhouse, kicking Natsu to the other side of the building.

Natsu tried to get up, but had a sword pointed towards his neck. He looked to the white demon that wielded the sword.

"Natsu hang on!" Happy called as he tried to fly towards him, but the white demon pointed his other sword in Happy's direction, keeping him back.

"I'll give you one chance. Leave now, and don't ever attack me again. If you do, you will die."

"You're the same prick that tried to attack Dante!" Natsu exclaimed.

"What concern is it of yours?"

"He's part of my guild and my friend! Anyone who attacks my friends will be burnt to a crisp!" Natsu stated.

The white demon lowered his swords. "So the rumors are true. The Son of Sparda has joined a human guild. What would he have to gain from siding with lesser beings?"

"Just who the hell are you?!" Natsu questioned.

"I am Baul, I am the apprentice of the Dark Knight Sparda."

Both Natsu and Happy we're surprised at that statement. "Trish was right." Happy said. "He is Sparda's apprentice!"

"I don't care if he is." Natsu said. "But why are you here? Dante isn't."

Happy then looked down towards Wendy who was still talking with the man in black. "Are you here for that Modeus guy?"

"Hmph. What would the likes of you know about my brother and me?"

"HUH?!" Happy questioned as his eyes we're white circles.

"BROTHER?!" Natsu also questioned, bearing the same expression as Happy.

"You should have figured out sooner, you do have heightened senses, so your sense of smell should have noticed the similarities." Baul pointed out. "Natsu Dragneel, son of Igneel."

Natsu's expression was surprised at that. "You know Igneel?"

"His stench is all over you." Baul said. "I'll say this one more time. Do not intervene." He then vanished from his sight, leaving behind a surprised Natsu and Happy.

Later in the afternoon, the sun was about to set for the day, in the park Wendy told Modeus much about her time with Fairy Tail; and how they took down the Oracion Seis. Modeus listened to every word.

"You seem to think very highly of this guild." Modeus observed.

Wendy nodded. "Yep, their like my family."

"Family." Modeus repeated. "That is a powerful word."

Before Wendy could ask what he meant by that, Carla spoke up. "I hate to interrupt, but it's getting late, we should head back Wendy."

"Oh, okay then." She stood up. "It was nice to meet you Modeus."

"It was very nice to meet you as well."

Wendy and Carla began to walk out; she turned around to say one last thing. "If you want, come to Fairy Tail tomorrow. I'll ask Mira to make you a Strawberry Sundae, she makes the best ones!" Wendy then left with Carla.

Modeus smiled as he watched Wendy and Carla leave. He closed his eyes before speaking. "I know you're back there. Come on out."

Natsu and Happy comically stumbled out of the bush behind the bench that they we're hiding in.

"Darn it, that was the best hiding spot in the park to." Happy pouted.

"Can I help you with something?"

"You're a demon aren't you?" Natsu questioned rather bluntly.

Modeus bore an amused smile. "Indeed I am. I don't expect anything less from the famous Salamander. You are indeed a powerful Dragon Slayer."

"And you're also Baul's brother right?" Natsu asked, earning a surprised look from Modeus.

"You know my brother?" He asked as he stood up.

"Yes, he's been trying to hunt Dante for a few days now." Happy questioned, earning an even more surprised look from Modeus.

"Do you know why he's doing that?" Natsu asked. Modeus didn't answer as he ran out of the park. "Huh? Hey wait up!" Natsu then ran after Modeus as Happy flew behind him.

Modeus was seen running through the streets of Magnolia as fast as his feet would carry him. Natsu wasn't too far behind, trying to catch up with him.

Baul meanwhile walked through the streets in another location of the town. The expression he bore on his face kept all the people around him from getting close as they we're quite intimidated.

Dante also walked casually through the streets in another part of Magnolia.

As they each continued towards their destinations, the sun had set and night had fallen onto Magnolia; the streetlights lit to provide illumination.

Baul had just arrived at the Fairy Tail guild building.

Dante was standing in front of the bar that he, Natsu, Wendy, Happy, and Carla we're at yesterday. He stood in front of the locked door with a sign that read 'We will be closed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience.'

"Closed till further notice?" Dante questioned. "Did you go off to train in the mountains or something?" He then began to walk away.

Baul had opened the door and entered the dark and empty Fairy Tail guildhall. No one was in it; except for three individuals who stood in the middle of the empty building. Baul was surprised to see one of them in particular. Modeus regained his breath, no doubt running to get to this location; on his right was Natsu glaring at Baul, with Happy hiding behind Natsu, looking a bit scared.

"Dante is not here." Modeus said.

"I see." Baul replied as he turned around, ready to leave.

"Why? You're opponent is Sparda isn't he?" Modeus asked, earning a questionable look from Natsu and Happy. "So why would you fight Dante?"

"Sparda's dead." Baul stated.

"But that doesn't…." Modeus tried.

"I waited two thousand years, but Sparda did not appear!" Baul angrily exclaimed.

"And so you're going after his son Dante?" Modeus questioned.

"That's right." Baul answered. "If I get his soul, I'll also get the Dark Knight Sparda's power!"

"That ain't gonna happen bub!" Natsu exclaimed.

Baul turned his attention to the Dragon Slayer. "I told you not to interfere."

"You think I'm gonna listen to you?" Natsu questioned. "Come on, let's go! You and me!" He was about to charge forward, but Modeus extended his arm, blocking Natsu's path.

"So, you insist on this?" Modeus asked his brother.

"Yes."

"Then there's no help for it." Modeus extended his other arm and opened his palm. A sword burst from the ground and to his hand, which he took. "If you insist on this, then please do it after you've defeated me."

"And when he's done, it's my turn!" Natsu added.

"Aye, you tell him!" Happy cheered.

Baul glared at both of them, before scoffing and turning around. "I have no desire to battle someone who's abandoned the way of the sword."

"You're asking for it!" Natsu charged forward before Modeus could stop him. Natsu prepared a firey punch, but Baul grabbed him by the wrist and threw him towards the bar, which he crashed into.

"Natsu!" Happy wordily said.

The Dragon Slayer quickly got back up on his feet "You want to be as strong as Sparda so bad, then don't try and kill his son! If you're really his apprentice, I doubt he'd agree with something like this." That struck a nerve in Baul, and bore a look of shock from Modeus. "I bet the only reason you won't fight Modeus is cause you're scared. That's it isn't it?"

Natsu was then seized by the throat by Baul and brought close to his face. "Sparda entrusted his true strength and will to Modeus, not to me." He then threw Natsu to the side and turned back to his brother. "When he gets back, tell him to come to me." Baul said before leaving.

Modeus walked over to Natsu and offered him help to get back up, which he took.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine." Natsu dismissed. "What the heck is that guy's deal?"

"Modeus, what is going on?" Happy asked.

He sighed. "Perhaps its best if Dante and the rest of your guild is here, so that I don't have to explain it twice."

Baul continued to walk through the dark streets of Magnolia. When he passed by a lamppost, it shattered and the light vanished.

The next morning, it looked like it was about to storm, so everyone hurried there as fast as they could to avoid getting soaked. However everyone arrived at the guildhall, they we're surprised to find Modeus and Natsu waiting there; Dante and Wendy are especially surprised. Once everyone was present, Modeus began to explain the whole situation to them.

"I see. A duel with me huh?" Dante said as he leaned against the counter.

"So he is Sparda's apprentice." Lucy stated.

Wendy walked to Modeus. "You're a demon?"

"It was not my intention to deceive you. I just didn't think I would have to tell you." He explained. "I am sorry."

"You're his brother?" Erza asked.

"Yes, his twin brother in fact."

"Twin brother?!" Lucy and Carla exclaimed in surprise, to which Modeus nodded.

"What exactly does this guy want?" Grey asked.

"He is convinced that if he gets Dante's soul, he'll obtain the same power as Sparda." Modeus answered.

"How did he get that idea in his head?" Happy asked.

"I am unsure."

Mira was next to speak "Modeus, are you also Sparda's apprentice?"

"Indeed I am. Though I no longer wield a sword."

"Even if Baul gained Sparda's power, what would he want with it?" Erza wondered.

"Well if I had to guess, he'd use to become king of the Demon World, maybe even the human world to." Dante guessed.

"So, an evil twin trying to kill someone to gain power and rule both worlds, huh?" Lucy guessed. "Where have we heard that before?"

The whole guild grimaced as they each remembered a certain blue-clad half-demon with a katana blade.

"This guy's no different from Vergil." Natsu stated as he clenched his fist.

"Sounds to me like this Baul-guy needs a manly kick in the ass." Elfman said.

"No." Modeus spoke up. "You don't understand anything about my brother. I know of Vergil and what he intends to do, but Baul is nothing like him. He has no intention of gaining power to rule over the Demon or Human Worlds. He just… wants to fight someone strong, that's all. Not unlike you, Natsu."

"I don't kill people! And I certainly wouldn't try to use their own power to become stronger!" Natsu angrily replied.

"Modeus, why tell us all this?" Makarov asked.

"Because I do not wish to see any blood shed." Modeus replied. "I care for my brother and would not wish to see him, or any of you harmed."

"You truly are a noble being Modeus." Erza complimented. "However, if what you say of Baul is true, then he will not be satisfied if Dante we're to turn him down."

"Yeah, she's right." Grey added. "He may not be as psychotic as Vergil, but he's not gonna stop till he's satisfied."

"So what do we do then?" Lucy asked.

"If he wants to fight me, then maybe I should give him what he wants." Dante spoke up, beginning to walk to the door.

"Dante…" Wendy tried.

"There's no need to worry. You guys all said it yourself, he's no Vergil. So I can take him." Dante assured.

"But he's still dangerous." Happy pointed out. "He took down Natsu twice."

"He didn't take me down! He just caught me by surprise!" Natsu stated with comic anger.

"I'm pretty dangerous myself." Dante said.

"Wait." Modeus spoke up. "What could you have to gain from fighting my brother?"

"He needs to be taught a lesson, or else he'll never learn. When someone picks a fight with me, I give to them." Dante said as he began to walk out. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna kill him. But I am gonna kick his ass."

Dante walked out of the guildhall just as the rain began to pour and lightning flashed through the sky.

Southgate Park

Rain was now starting to pour down as Dante faced Baul. "I came Milk-man. Let's settle this thing fast before I catch a cold."

They stared down for a few seconds before Baul looked in the rightmost direction. "Why are they here?"

"Hmm?" Dante looked and saw Natsu, Happy, Erza, Wendy, Carla, and Lucy standing at the edge of the park looking in that direction. "Why am I not surprised?" He thought. "Don't worry, they're just here to observe. This is between you and me, so don't go and drag them into this."

"As long as they won't interfere I won't attack them." Baul assured.

"That's all I ask." Dante replied. "Come on Milk-man, let's go."

Baul opened his left hand and a sword rose from the ground. He caught it and charged forward at intense speed, but Dante blocked the strike with Rebellion as they locked blades.

"Well, this makes me happy." Dante said as he and Baul locked their swords. "I've always wanted to know what a swordsman trained by my father would be like, and now I got the chance."

Baul extended his right hand and opened his palm, letting his second sword rise from the ground. He tried to slash his right blade but Dante jumped back. Baul was now wielding both his swords. He yelled and charged forward; Dante and Baul then clashed their blades; while the Fairy Tail wizards watched this.

"He's good." Natsu observed.

"Yes, you can tell that Sparda trained him quite well." Erza noted.

"You think Dante will be okay?" Wendy asked.

"I wouldn't worry about him." Carla observed. "Baul is good, but we have all seen the full power of Dante, so we can assume Dante will be just fine."

"Assuming Dante doesn't trash the whole park." Lucy said.

"Come on Dante! Go! Take him down!" Happy cheered.

Dante and Baul both soared towards each other and slashed, sliding to a halt on the other side. Dante felt some blood trickle down his face as he had been cut on his forehead. "Well, if it isn't my father's sword work. Isn't that great?" Dante said. Baul looked to his right shoulder to find that it had been cut as well. "How about making this a little more fun for me."

Meanwhile; Modeus had walked towards the park, with a worried expression on his face. He looked to see the battle that was taking place.

Baul slashed relentlessly towards Dante, while he was able to block each strike towards him, but was forced back as Baul was pressing forward with both strength and speed. Baul came in with a lunge on the right, which Dante blocked and jumped back. Baul yelled as he lunged forward, but Dante thrusted Rebellion and cut a deep gash into Baul's side.

Natsu, Erza, Happy, Lucy, Wendy, and Carla continued to look at the battle with intensity as the injured Baul kneeled down.

"Why don't you make it easy on yourself and just surrender." Dante advised.

"I must not… loose here…" Baul grunted. "In this place… for the sake of Modeus… Modeus who gave up the sword for me…"

The wizards listening we're a bit surprised to hear what Baul was saying.

"He does care for his brother." Erza noted.

"He really isn't Vergil." Natsu said.

"I cannot… I must not…" Baul grunted. "BE DEFEATED HERE!" Baul had now transformed into his demonic appearance. His body was covered in white scales, white horns decorated his head, he had white claws, and glowing green eyes.

Natsu, Erza, Lucy, Happy, Carla, and Wendy we're surprised to see him take his form.

"Whoa! What is that?!" Happy questioned.

"Is that a Devil Trigger?!" Lucy questioned as well.

"Not exactly." Carla stated. "Baul is a demon, remember. His human form is just a disguise."

"So now that he's taken his true from, it means he's now getting serious." Erza said.

"You're kidding. He was holding back this whole time?" Lucy asked.

"Looks like the real battle is about to start." Natsu said.

"Dante…" Wendy breathed. She knew he was strong, but would not like to see him hurt.

"So you finally showed your true nature, huh?" Dante said to Baul.

"I will surpass the Dark Knight Sparda!" Baul exclaimed as he charged forward to Dante.

Baul slashed at an even faster rate; Dante had a little more trouble blocking these attacks. Baul continued to press forward, forcing Dante to back up. Dante tried to go on the offensive and thrust Rebellion forward, which Baul blocked by crossing his blades, but Dante swerved under him and gave a roundhouse to the chest, knocking Baul back.

Baul quickly got back on his feet and jumped high in the air, he crossed his blades ready to slice Dante in half; but Dante thrusted Rebellion straight up and knocked the blades out of Baul's hands, much to his surprise. He then kicked Baul in his wound and grabbed him by the neck, throwing him into a tree. Baul tried to get up but Dante pointed his sword to his neck.

"This fight is over." Dante told him.

Wendy, Lucy, and Happy all breathed a sigh of relief seeing this. Erza and Natsu bore smiles as well. Modeus breathed a sigh of relief as well.

"I knew it." Natsu said. "No way he could have beaten Dante, he's good."

"I'm glad to see it end like this." Erza stated.

"Looks like Dante didn't kill him, just like he said he would." Lucy observed.

"Aye." Happy agreed.

"Kill me!" Baul demanded Dante. "You must, or I won't stop! I'll never stop!"

"Sorry pal, I win. You live." Dante said as he sheathed Rebellion and began to walk away. "Wait here. One of my friends has healing magic, I'm sure she'll be more than happy to treat you."

Baul could not believe this. He breathed deeply in anger, it was building up inside like a volcano that was about to erupt. "No! It's not over! If you wont kill me… then they will suffer the price!"

Dante turned around only for Baul to smack him away; he was surprised to see him already in front of the surprised Fairy Tail wizards. Before either of them could react, Baul smacked away Natsu, pinned Erza to the ground, punched Lucy and sent her flying. He then knocked down Wendy as he readied his right claw. Wendy screamed expecting it to come down.

There was a sudden flash of lightning with the sound of flesh being cut. Dante, Natsu, Erza, Happy, Lucy, and Carla looked in shock at what they saw. Wendy had her eyes shut, so she wouldn't see it coming; but didn't feel anything, much to her surprise. She slowly opened her eyes to see something that made her eyes go circular.

Modeus stood in front of Wendy. He had his sword and it pierced through Baul's chest.

"M. M… Modues…" Baul grimaced as he coughed up blood.

Modeus' eyes we're shaking. "Brother. Forgive me." He pulled out his sword and Baul feel to the ground, as he was dead.

Lucy had her mouth covered in shock; while Erza and Natsu each bore looks of shock of their own. Happy and Carla flew to the shocked Wendy as Dante slowly walked towards them.

Modeus fell to his knees by his brother's corpse, dropping his sword.

"I… I had no choice I…" Modeus breathed.

"Modeus…" Wendy spoke. Everyone walked towards him as the rain continued to pour down.

"Two thousand years ago, when the Demon and Human Worlds we're connected…" Modeus began. "Sparda, my brother, and I made a promise. We promised that we'd each live true to our aspirations and carry them out. Soon afterwards, Sparda came to this land all alone, to protect the Human World. My brother never aligned himself with either world, merely waiting devotedly for Sparda to return. Yes. Dueling with Sparda, the greatest swordsman in the Demon Realm, was his only reason for living. I had abandoned my sword, it had begun to disgust me, it created nothing, it could even rob my brother of his reason to live."

Modeus then felt something wrap around him. Wendy was hugging him from behind. A few tears fell from her eyes as well. "I'm sorry, Modeus. I'm sorry."

A few hands gently lay on his shoulders as well. He looked to see it was from Lucy and Erza, each bearing their own look of sympathy towards him; Natsu had his own look of sympathy as well, as did Happy and Carla.

Modeus then slowly stood up. "I am sorry for all of this." He then began to walk away.

"Where are you going?" Dante asked.

"I do not know." Modeus replied. "Wherever the wind takes me I suppose. Dueling with Sparda was my brother's reason to live; but my brother was my reason to live. So now I have nothing."

"That's not true." Wendy spoke up, getting his attention. "You don't have nothing. You have us."

"What do you mean?"

"Modeus, each of us here can understand all to well, the pain of loosing a loved one." Erza said as she remembered Jellal, Simon, and Rob. Lucy remembered her mother; Wendy remembered Grandeeney and Cait Shelter; Dante remembered both his parents; and Natsu remembered Igneel and Lisanna.

"But you'll heal, we'll help you." Lucy said.

"What are you saying?" Modeus asked.

"You don't have to be alone." Dante said as he extended a hand towards Modeus. "Come with us, be a part of Fairy Tail."

Modeus' face was one of surprise and shock. A small tear ran down from his left eye as he slowly reached and took Dante's hand.

Done.

There we go. I know this is different from how the episode in the anime went, but I really like Modeus, and I do have plans for him. He is now a part of Fairy Tail, so you can expect to see more of him soon.

Up next is the first chapter of the Edolas Arc, I promise.

I'm sure you are all looking forward to it. See you next time.
