Hi everyone. Sorry for the wait. Anyway, here is the next chapter for the Edolas arc.
And for those of you who are wondering why there aren't any Edolas Counterparts to Dante, Vergil, or Trish here, hopefully this chapter will explain it. Oh, and a small reminder, from this point forward; expect some minor alterations from the main Fairy Tail storyline. Now please enjoy.
Hunting in Edolas
Edolas Fairy Tail
After escaping the dreaded Black Angel and Fairy Hunter; Dante, Natsu, and the others took this opportunity to explain their situation to the Edolas counterparts of their friends and comrades; though they left out the part of Dante and Modeus being demons for obvious reasons.
"Wait a second, let me get this straight." Edolas Jet began. "You guys are from another world that's called 'Earthland'?"
"And you came all the way over here to save your friends?" Edolas Droy finished.
"Yep, that pretty much sums it up." Dante replied.
"You're telling me there's another Fairy Tail just like us?" Mary, the Edolas counterpart to Lady, asked.
"Not exactly." Natsu replied. "You guys are acting more like the complete opposite of all our friends."
"Which would also explain the psycho version of Erza we just met a little bit back." Dante added.
"I can't believe that she's one of your allies." Mary said.
"You seem to be rather surprised." Carla observed.
"Aye." Happy added.
"You would be to, that's a pretty tall tail." Edolas Macao said.
"Of course, if you'd been in our shoes, you might understand." Modeus said. "For us, a more cruel version of Erza is rather a surprise in on itself."
"Well this is definitely not the Natsu we know." Edolas Wakaba observed.
"He does look like him though." Edolas Mira said, earning a bit of a laugh from the Edolas crowd.
Admits their talk, Dante manage to glance a bit towards the back of the Edolas crowd and saw Lisanna looking towards them as though she we're deep in thought, well actually, she was looking towards a certain Dragon Slayer.
"You're telling me this little girl is actually me?!" The Edolas Wendy questioned to her Earthland counterpart.
"Uh… hi." Wendy said with a slight bow.
"Now this is confusing." Modeus observed. "You're actually older than her, where as everyone else is more around the same age as our friends. To be honest, you look more like an older sister to her."
"Yo." Dante spoke up. "Any of you guys know how we can get to the Royal City?"
That took the Edolas Fairy Tail by surprise.
"Our friends got captured and we need to go rescue them." Natsu said.
"Yeah, you're kingdom was the one that pulled them into this world and now we have to save them." Wendy added. "Otherwise they'll be converted into magic power, if that happens they'll be gone forever!"
"I know this is the last thing you wanna hear little-me." Edolas Wendy began. "But it's best if you forget them." Wendy gasped at that.
"What?" Dante angrily questioned.
"Anyone who would defy the King of Edolas is as good as dead." Mary began. "He has a mighty army at his beck n call."
"What about that swordsman from earlier?" Modeus asked. "The one you called 'The Black Angel'? Who is he?"
"To be honest, we really don't know." The Edolas Grey said. "The guy showed up out of nowhere and apparently works for the King. All we know is his name; Nelo Angelo."
"There is no person alive that can match him." The Edolas Juvia added. "Whenever he takes his dreaded sword in his hands, thousands are killed in the blink of an eye; some say he's not even human he's some kind of…"
"Demon?" Dante guessed.
Mary nodded. "Yes, that all we can describe him as, a demon, a monster."
Dante and Modeus looked towards each other at that.
"And Nelo Angelo is only one of our problems." Edolas Elfman said. "There's only so much magic power in our world. There's not too much left of it. It won't be too long until we completely run out."
Edolas Grey walked up. "It's the King's greatest fear so he tries to keep it all to himself."
Dante clenched his fists. "I'm liking that old prick less and less."
"It is the very reason he ordered all magical guilds be disbanded." Edolas Juvia added.
"I take it that didn't sit well with everyone else." Natsu guessed.
Edolas Max nodded. "At first, everyone tried to ignore the order."
"But then the Kingdom's Magic Warfare Unit started whipping them out one after the other." Edolas Warren said.
"And Nelo Angelo destroyed most of them by himself." Mary added. "Our guild is the only one left…" Her voice began to crack as she held a tissue to her eyes. "He killed him… that monster slaughtered our master and most of our friends…" she cried a bit as Edolas Mira put a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Wendy and Modeus both had sympathetic looks where as Dante and Natsu both looked rather angry.
"Bastards." Dante angrily breathed in regards to the Edolas Kingdom.
Mary whipped the tears from her eyes. "Please for your sake, leave this world while you can."
"No way." Natsu stated, much to the Edolas Fairy Tail's surprise. "I ain't afraid of your king and I ain't leaving without my friends."
"Same here." Dante added. "But after what I just heard, we're not just gonna rescue our friends now. We're gonna bring his royal pain in the ass down." Dante drew Rebellion. "I'll run him through with this and fill him with my bullets."
The Edolas Fairy Tail looked in surprise at this; their eyes we're white dots and their mouths hung open.
"Uh… why are they looking at us like that?" Natsu questioned.
"Perhaps because you act so differently from their Natsu." Modeus guessed. "But I am with you as well. This King needs to learn a lesson, I may be a pacifist, but I cannot stand those who mistreat others for their own personal greed."
"That makes two of us." Natsu agreed.
Dante just happened to glance as he looked towards Lisanna in the back, who quietly snuck out the door, with no one noticing, other than Dante and Natsu.
Royal City
High above the royal city, floating in the sky was a massive island with an equally massive lacrima crystal on top of it. It hung there over the city as though it we're a fabled omen of terrible things to come.
In the hallways of the castle walked three individuals. One of them was Erza Knightwalker; another was a young dark haired man in white military clothing, the other was a double-chinned, blonde man, with pink armor and a white cape.
"Holy crap!" Hughes, the Captain of the Third Division of the Magic Warfare Unit, exclaimed. "Have you taken a peek at that giant lacrima!? It's the coolest thing I've ever seen!"
"Yes, I saw it when I arrived Hughes, it certain is exquisite." Knightwalker, the Captain of the Second Division of the Magic Warfare Unit agreed.
"It has the power of tens of thousands of Earthland people."
"Hmm, mmm." Sugarboy, the Captain of the Fourth Division of the Magic Warfare Unit, hummed. "Which I've been told is the equivalent of about one hundred wizards, not to mention it houses the lives of countless others."
"Aw come on." Hughes stated. "You're gonna bore me to death with all the details Sugarboy, all that it matters is that it's totally awesome!"
"Don't let this get to your head."
Those words came from Nelo Angelo as he walked down the hall towards them. "Do not let your guard down, after all there are others who would seek to oppose us."
"Well those idiots are either very brave, or just plan stupid." Knightwalker responded. "We hold the greatest power. All that's left are those infernal Fairy Tail insects."
"Be careful." Nelo Angelo advised. "Even insects have bites to them that can prove fatal, if underestimated. You're kingdom is indeed strong, but it can easily be toppled by your arrogance."
Hughes, Sugarboy, and even Knightwalker glared a bit at the Black Angel.
"He may have a point." A voice spoke out from behind. This was a short old man.
"Byro." Knightwalker greeted.
"Fairy Tail has managed to escape your wrath more than once now." Byro, the Chief of Staffs of the Edolas Royal army reminded. "They are the last of the guilds, I realize they are difficult to track down and constantly on the move, but his majesty's patience is at its end."
"Perhaps." Nelo Angelo stated. "But it was not the Edolas guild I was referring to."
"Oh?" Sugarboy questioned.
"There is another being here; a powerful swordsman, one who's skills could rival even my own. I dare say he'd even surpass the Mighty Fairy Hunter." Nelo Angelo said, glancing at Knightwalker, who maintained a serious look at this.
"Come on, what's one guy gonna do?" Hughes questioned with an amused smile. "We're the ones who have all the power." Byro chuckled at that.
"I've had enough of that laugh of yours Byro." This voice came from a tall, well-built, armored, humanoid panther that walked on the scene. "I can't stand the sound of it, it grates my nerves." This is Panther-Lilly, the Captain of the First Division of the Magic Warfare Unit.
"You're always walking around like you're better than everyone else!" Hughes spoke to Panther-lily. "We've already got one asshole here." Hughes gestured to Nelo Angelo, who chose to ignore that comment.
"You'd be wise to watch your mouth." Panther-Lilly warned.
"You're in a fowl mood." Sugarboy observed.
Lilly walked forward pass the three Captains as Nelo Angelo walked in the opposite direction; the two intimidating warriors passed by each other.
"Angelo." Lilly greeted casually.
"Lilly." Nelo Angelo greeted in a similar tone.
The three captains looked more towards Nelo Angelo as he walked away.
"What's that freak's deal?!" Hughes questioned. "Just who does he think he is?!"
"Well I'll be the first to say he's been a great asset to us." Sugarboy said. "He destroyed most of the guilds by himself, he's like a one-man army. I'd say he's even stronger than you Erza."
Knightwalker gave a disagreeing grunt. "I still don't trust him. This strange and powerful being just shows up out of nowhere and offers his services without question or even a reward? Something about him just doesn't sit right with me."
In another hallway, a young girl was running through the decorated hallway. "Your Majesty!" The girl called out repeatedly. "Your Majesty! Your Majesty! Your Majesty! Your Majesty!" The girl stopped before a small set of stairs leading to a white throne. She immediately saluted. "I've just been told we'll be able to extract power from the giant lacrima in four days time as scheduled." This young girl is Coco, assistant chief of staffs to the royal army.
"It was a brilliant successes!"
Faust, The King of Edolas sat in his throne having heard all of this, but wasn't as pleased as Coco had hopped. "It's not enough." He grunted.
"It's not?" Coco questioned. She ran back down the hall and back towards the throne before stopping again. "Could you repeat that one more time?"
"I said it's not gonna be enough Coco." Faust replied.
Coco then began to literally run in circles. "With all do respect you're majesty, our calculations suggest that it's actually just the opposite. That giant lacrima contains the magic power of an entire Earthland city, which should more than enough to keep our kingdom's supply for the next ten years!"
Faust still was not convinced. "I won't be satisfied until my kingdom of Edolas is free from all restrictions." Coco stopped running for a minute to listen to her king. He stood up from his throne. "And I know there's only one way that can happen. In order to be free, what we need is a source of everlasting magic power!"
There as a faint and dark chuckle. "You're lust for power is quite amusing, you're majesty."
Coco turned around and saw Nelo Angelo walk down the hallway. The very sight of him made the little girl tremble and run behind the throne to hide.
"Nelo Angelo." The King began. "Why might you be here?"
"I am merely passing through, you're highness." Nelo Angelo said with a bow as he turned and walked towards a door. "Just be sure, those eyes aren't clouded by greed, as it can blind you. When you're blind, it will be impossible to see the danger that may present itself."
Nelo Angelo walked into the door and closed it behind him. Coco peeked out from behind the throne.
"Is he gone?" She said in a whimper. "That guy is super scary!"
Nelo Angelo stood in a small dark room, the only item that was present was a dark mirror that was on the brick wall. Nelo Angelo kneeled before the mirror.
"My Lord and Master, I have returned." Nelo Angelo said. The mirror then turned black and it appeared to have dark grey smoke form inside of it, as though it we're a window to another location. "I am the instrument of your will, the blade of your dark wrath, I exist only to serve you…" Red electricity then began to spark within the mirror. "…Master Mundus."
Three glowing red orbs formed in the electricity, this was the avatar of the Demon King, Mundus himself.
"Nelo Angelo." Mundus greeted. "What do you have to say to me?"
"My lord." Nelo Angelo began. "All is prepared, the Lacrima is here in Edolas, and that foolish King and his idiotic lackeys do not suspect a thing."
"Excellent." Mundus replied.
"However, we may have a slight problem." Nelo Angelo confessed.
"What is it?" The Demon King questioned.
"The youngest son of Sparda, Dante is here." Nelo Angelo revealed. "As are two Dragon Slayers; Natsu Dragneel, the Son of Igneel; and Wendy Marvel, the Daughter of Grandeeney"
"Are you certain?"
"Yes my Dark Lord and Master, I have seen them myself." Nelo Angelo confirmed.
"This is only a minor annoyance." Mundus replied. "You, my Black Angel, I created you from the essence of both Dante and his brother Vergil, as well as that infernal Sparda; you are the sum total of those three warriors combined, they are nothing to you."
"You orders, my lord?" Nelo Angelo asked.
"Proceed as planed my herald." Mundus instructed. "Should you spot Dante or the Dragon Slayers, see to it they are left alive, I will have need for them soon."
"As you wish."
"Soon, my servant…" Mundus began. "Soon… Edolas will be mine!"
Elsewhere.
Dante, Natsu, Wendy, Modeus, Happy, and Carla began walking through a dessert-based area, having just left the Edolas Fairy Tail.
"So what is our plan?" Agni asked as he and his brother we're still with Natsu.
"Yes, we have a plan, do we not?" Rudra asked as well.
"Yeah we got a plan." Natsu replied as he held the two demon swords. "We're gonna get to the Royal City, find our friends, and beat the crap out of anyone who tries to stop us."
"I like that plan." Rudra commented.
"Yes, nice and simple." Agni agreed.
"It's not gonna be as simple as that." Modeus told Natsu.
"But that is the basic gist of it." Dante told Modeus. "If you ignore all the little details we have to deal with."
"So how much longer is it going to take for us to get to the capital?" Happy asked Carla.
"You just left and you're already asking me that?"
'They said it'll take five days to walk there." Wendy said.
"Well, with our Aera-Magic kaput, I guess we have no choice but to walk." Carla said.
"Hey guys, there's something that's been bothering me for a while." Wendy said, getting everyone's attention. "Why didn't we see an Edolas version of you Dante? Or you Modeus?"
"It's probably because we do not have Edolas counterparts." Modeus replied.
"Hmmm?" Natsu, Wendy, and Happy questioned as question marks appeared above their heads.
"Let me explain." Dante began; he reached into his red coat and took out a coin. "Earthland and Edolas are connected; Edolas is the flipside to Earthland, both worlds are two sides of the same coin." Dante showed heads and tails of the coin for emphasis.
"Yeah, we pretty much figured that part out." Natsu reminded.
"But Dante and I, as well as Trish, are not from Earthland." Modeus said, much to everyone's confusion
"Remember, Modeus and Trish are demons; they're from the Demon World. The Demon World is not connected to Edolas like Earthland is, but is in fact a completely different and separate world entirely." Dante took out a second coin for emphasis. "It's a part of a separate coin here, see?"
"Okay, I think I get it now." Happy understood.
"What about you Dante?" Wendy asked. "Aren't you from Earthland?"
"I am." Dante confirmed. "But my old man wasn't. Remember, I'm half demon, my dad was Sparda, who was also from the Demon World. You need a dad to make a son, since there's no Edolas counterpart for Sparda, there's no Edolas version of me." Dante gave a somewhat prideful glare. "I'm one of a kind."
Carla sweat dropped at that last comment. "Ego aside, Dante has a point. Since Demons aren't native to Edolas we can be certain that there is no counterpart to Dante."
"Though it makes me wonder what Edolas Dante would be like." Happy wondered. "Would he be opposite of our Dante? What would he be like?"
"We don't have to wonder that." Natsu said getting serious. "We already know what his opposite is like." Natsu unbuttoned his shirt and opened it a bit, revealing to the group the diagonal scar he had. "Remember, he was the one who gave me this."
Wendy, Happy, and Carla gasped a bit as they remembered, while Modeus and Dante looked with serious expressions. The group then recalled a certain blue-robed, white-haired swordsman who abducted many of Fairy Tail's strongest, impaled Dante, scared Natsu, and attempted to kill many of them.
"Vergil…" Wendy said with a whimper, as she was still quite frightened of him.
"Yeah you're right." Happy agreed in an equally frightening tone. "That guy really was Dante's opposite."
"Though I think we can be glad that we will not be expected to find an Edolas counterpart to Vergil either, just one of that monster is more than enough." Carla stated.
Modeus sought to change the subject to brighten the mood a bit. "Though we did manage to see the Edolas counterpart to Lady, that was rather to strange to see her lady-like, no pun intended."
It seemed to work a bit. "Yeah, Lady acting like a lady." Dante said with a bit of a chuckle. "That's something I'd never thought I'd see."
"Well it makes sense for Lady to have an opposite, since she's human." Carla pointed out.
"But why was her name Mary?" Natsu asked. "Everyone called her Mary, isn't her name supposed to be Lady?"
"Well you see…" Dante began. "Her birth name was Mary, but she had it changed to Lady."
"She changed her name?" Wendy asked. "Why would she do that?"
"Let's just say she has issues with her father and leave it at that." Dante quickly said, not wanting to go into details about that whole mess.
"But wait, what about that Nelo Angelo guy?" Happy asked.
"What about him?" Dante asked.
"The way he moved, the way he was described by the Edolas Fairy Tail; I believe they weren't exaggerating when they said he wasn't human." Carla said.
"No that guy was a demon." Dante confirmed, much to the group's surprise.
"How did you know?" Natsu asked.
"It was his eyes." Modeus replied. "You can always tell the difference between a human and a demon by the look in their eyes, and Nelo Angelo was indeed a demon."
"But I thought you guys said demons aren't from Edolas." Natsu said.
"They're not." Dante replied. "He was sent here."
"Sent here?" Wendy questioned.
"By who?" Happy asked as well.
Carla then remembered their previous discussion before entering Edolas. "Modeus." She said, getting his attention. "You said that the Demon King knew of the existence of Edolas and attempted to conquer it."
"I did say that."
"Well, what if he's still trying to, what if he hasn't given up?" Carla finished. It then dawned on the group.
"You're saying Mundus sent that guy?!" Natsu questioned.
"It wouldn't surprise me." Dante said. "That freak always tries to pull stunts like that."
"You're saying… that Nelo Angelo is basically working for the Devil?" Wendy questioned with fear evident in her voice.
"Yes, I believe that's what we're saying." Dante confirmed.
"So… we have to fight the Demon King?!" Happy questioned as he shook with fear.
"I don't wanna fight him!" Wendy exclaimed as she too shook with fear.
"You do not need to worry." Agni spoke up, getting the group's attention.
"Yes there is no need to worry of Mundus." Rudra added.
"Mundus has been sealed in the deepest circle of the Demon World, and the seal around the Demon World itself is all but unbreakable." Agni said.
"Indeed, you can gather every wizard in your Earthland and the raw force still wouldn't be enough to free him." Rudra continued.
"So we do not need to worry about Mundus." Agni finished.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness." Wendy breathed.
"Aye." Happy agreed.
A shadow soon loomed over the group. They all turned around to see what appeared to be a giant cross between a frog and a newt looming over them. It gave a croaking roar before jumping towards them, causing the group to fall back a bit.
"What the heck is that?!" Happy screamed.
"Whatever it is, it's going down!" Natsu stated as he drew Agni and Rudra in his hands, while Dante also drew Rebellion and Modeus drew Nevan. Wendy even tried to muster some courage and drew Cerberus but had no idea how to use nunchucks before.
"I've been wanting to hit something all day." Dante said in anticipating as the giant creature jumped towards them.
It didn't get very far though when a certain blonde female came by with some form of energy-whip. Edolas Lucy snapped the whip at the creature, causing it to skid to the side. She landed on the ground.
"It's the Edolas version of Lucy." Modeus stated.
"Yay Scary Lucy!" Happy exclaimed.
"Thank you Scary Lucy!" Wendy thanked with a smile.
"Quit adding 'scary' to my name! It's rude!" Edolas Lucy comically yelled.
The giant frog-creature then began to hop away.
"It's leaving." Natsu observed, sounding a bit more disappointed than relieved.
"Way to be a killjoy Blondie." Dante said as he put Rebellion back, earning a glare from the Edolas Lucy.
"Hey wait up!" A voice called out. The voice made Natsu loose composure briefly as the group looked to see a certain white haired female run up to them.
"Geeze, you're so slow Lisanna." Edolas Lucy told her as she caught up.
Lisanna stopped to put her hands on her knees and catch her breath. "Sorry, you're just so fast."
"Isn't that Lisanna?" Wendy questioned to Modeus.
"Why is she here?"
Natsu sighed a bit. "It's not her." He said mostly to himself. "It's her Edolas self."
Dante walked up to the two girls. "Hey ladies, thanks for the hand, but why are you here?"
Edolas Lucy gave an embarrassing blush. "I wasn't worried about you, just so we're clear."
"What she means is…" Lisanna began. "If you guys are serious about taking down the Kingdom, you're going to need help."
"Let me, guess you two are volunteering?" Carla figured.
"Well…" Lisanna rubbed the back of her head. "Yeah, I guess."
"Thank you." Modeus told the two. "We appreciate the assistance."
"You don't have to get all mushy." Edolas Lucy told him.
"Yep, there's no mistaking it, just like our Lucy." Dante began. "Blonde, busty, thinks you're tough, and sassy."
"What do you mean 'think I'm tough'?" Edolas Lucy questioned with irritation evident in her voice.
"When you said not to be called scary, I agree.' Dante said. "You're not scary; three headed ice-dogs are scary, a giant spider made of lava is scary, you? You're not scary. Even if you tried, you probably wouldn't scare a little kid." Dante teased.
"Say that again pretty boy!" Edolas Lucy exclaimed with an anime anger mark on her head.
"But you are crazy." Dante continued. "So I'm gonna call you Crazy-Lucy from now on, that okay Crazy-Lucy?"
"That's it!" Edolas Lucy then tried to charge towards Dante but he held her back by her forehead and effortlessly held her back as she tried to swing her fists at him, not unlike what a bully does for a little kid. "And just like our Lucy, it's fun to piss you off." Dante joked.
Natsu, Lisanna, Modeus, Happy, Wendy, and Carla all sweat dropped at this scene.
Natsu glanced towards Lisanna a bit. "Hey uh listen…" He said, getting her attention. "About back in the Guild hall…" he rubbed the back of his air. "I'm sorry. I just… thought you we're someone else."
Lisanna looked away shyly. "It's okay… I mean, everyone makes mistakes, right?"
Carla coughed loudly to get their attention. "Can we all please focus on the task at hand?" She turned towards Lisanna. "How do we get to the Royal City?"
"Follow us."
Meanwhile; two hooded individuals wondered another part of the desert. They manage to come to the outskirts of a small town.
"Should of known they'd be catered off to some crazy place like this." Gajeel stated.
"Ironically, this isn't the strangest thing that's happened to us, well… to me anyway." Trish added.
Back with the previous group; Lisanna and Edolas Lucy we're leading the Earthland heroes through the desert.
"I see, so a couple of people spotted you earlier and mistook you two for Exceeds?" Lisanna asked.
"Which would explain why this Erza Knightwalker was able to find us before." Modeus replied.
"That's why everyone freaked out when we said we we're friends with Erza." Happy said.
"Guess she's as scary here as she is back home." Natsu observed.
"Excuse me?!" Edolas Lucy questioned.
"We're talking about Erza, not you, genius." Dante said.
"Well I don't know what she's like in your world, but it's hard to believe for any of us that she'd ever align herself with Fairy Tail." Edolas Lucy said.
"Well it's hard for us to believe that she's a psycho here." Dante replied.
"I would recommend staying away from her though, you guys don't know what Erza Knightwalker is like." Lisanna said.
"Yeah, there isn't a wizard in all of Edolas who isn't afraid of her, when you see her, you're as good as dead." Edolas Lucy stated.
"Doesn't sound too tough to me." Dante said, much to Edolas Lucy and Lisanna's surprise. "I've been through Hell more than once in my life and seen all sorts of crazy things; I'm sure I can handle a cheap knock off of Erza."
"'Cheap knock off'?" Edolas Lucy questioned.
"You're a very brave man." Lisanna said to Dante.
"Either brave or stupid." Edolas Lucy commented. "No offense though Mr. uh…."
"Dante, my name is Dante."
"Hmmm." Edolas Lucy gave a slight grin. "'Dante', I like that name. Sounds really cool."
"Well he is cool." Wendy replied. "If we do run into this world's version of Erza I'm not too worried, if anyone can handle her, it's Dante."
"Aye!" Happy agreed. "There isn't anything Dante can't handle."
"Come on guys, you're making me blush." He said with a smug grin.
"Well good luck." Edolas Lucy said. "Erza Knightwalker is the second strongest soldier in the royal army."
"Am I correct to assume the first strongest is this Nelo Angelo character?" Carla guessed.
"Yeah, you'd be right." Lisanna answered. "That monster is far worse than anything the Kingdom can throw. He's strong enough to destroy a small army by himself."
Modeus and Dante looked towards each other a bit, both having the same feeling in regards to this.
"If you don't mind me asking, where are we going exactly?" Modeus asked the two girls leading them.
"Don't worry, we're here." Lisanna replied as they came to the edge of a cliff.
"Yep, the city's down there." Edolas Lucy said.
"Check it out guys!" Natsu stated as the group saw the city.
"Thank goodness, I thought we we're never gonna get here." Happy said.
"Was there every any doubt?" Dante said with a hint of pride in his voice.
"It's all very round isn't it?" Wendy observed the oddly shaped buildings.
"Well, lets get going." Carla said.
Modeus turned to the two girls again. "Once again, thank you for guiding us."
"Sure, no problem." Edolas Lucy replied.
"But you guys are going to need some magic weapons if you're serious about rescuing your friends." Lisanna added.
"Well let's see what these guys got." Natsu said.
"Yep, lead the way Crazy-Lucy." Dante teased.
"You're crusin' for a brusin' pretty boy!"
Now the group had entered the City of Luen. They we're walking through the streets while still being led by Lisanna and Edolas Lucy.
"It wasn't that long ago you can sell magic here just like anything else." Edolas Lucy began. "But then the army began hunting guilds and now selling and buying magic is strictly forbidden."
"What's even more horrible is that even having magic is a crime." Lisanna added.
"This just makes me wanna storm the castle and put a bullet in his royal assness' head even more." Dante said.
"Seriously." Natsu agreed. "Getting in trouble just for having it? What a dick move."
The group now found themselves by a seemingly bored up shop.
"What about people who've always been able to use it?" Wendy asked.
"What?" Edolas Lucy questioned, as that statement confused her. "Hold on, I don't know how to explain it more to you guys. If you have magic you just have to get rid of it or else you'll get busted or worse."
That statement confused Natsu and Wendy a bit.
"I believe I understand." Modeus began. "The rules are different here. Where we're from, people use magic, it's a part of them."
"Part of them?" Edolas Lucy questioned.
"For example…" Modeus explained. "Our Natsu is a wizard called a Fire Dragon Slayer. He has the ability to use generate fire from his body and he can manipulate the flames around him for offensive based attacks."
"What tools does he use?" Edolas Lucy asked.
"No tools needed." Dante added. "People use magic it's a part of them; a part of their spirit, their soul, it's not something that can just be thrown away like garbage in Earthland."
"Well, here in Edolas…" Lisanna began. "Magic is used in tools and items; the people here don't use magic."
"That would make sense." Carla said. "Due to magic being finite in this world."
"So people can't use magic then?" Happy guessed.
"That's correct." Carla assumed.
"Which is why you guys need some magic weapons." Lisanna told them.
"Nah, I'm good." Dante said. "I'm a swordsman, all I need is just a sword, magic or not, and I'm golden."
"I'm good to." Natsu added as he took out Agni and Rudra. "These two guys will keep me covered, right?"
The silent Agni and Rudra both winked in response.
"I am swordsman myself as well." Modeus said. "I'm sure with a simple object I can defend myself."
"Well, some of us aren't exactly swordsman so we could probably use some." Edolas Lucy pointed out.
"Then let's get going." Wendy said as the group entered the shop.
Meanwhile; in another part of Luen, Gajeel and Trish had just walked out of an alleyway.
"Now what? Just where are we supposed to go from here?" Gajeel questioned.
"Why don't we just start asking people around?" Trish suggested.
"Hey, man…" Gajeel tried to ask someone but he walked away before Gajeel could ask.
"Excuse me…" Trish also asked a man, but he walked away to, it didn't take long before other people around started to walk away from the two. "Geeze, what's there problem?"
"These people here in Edolas make the jerks we have to deal with back home look like a bunch of angels." Gajeel commented.
The two then turned to three punks who we're snickering towards the two.
Trish flashed an amused smile. "Well, one thing Earthland and Edolas have in common, you can always get answers the old fashioned way."
"Yeah, by hitting them." Gajeel agreed with his own mischievous smile.
The two walked to the punks.
"You bozos wanna start something?" One punk asked.
"Step up you lousy horseflies!" Another punk said.
Gajeel gave a glare. "You got a lot to learn about insults pal."
"We got some questions we wanna ask you guys." Trish told them.
One punk gave a whistle. "Looky here boys." He said with a sick grin. "Quite a number huh?"
"Yeah, I wouldn't mind spending some time with this chick." Another punk said with his own sick grin.
"Maybe you can spend that time answering my questions." Trish told them.
"We might be able to answer them if…." A punk ran his hand down from her shoulder closer to her breast area. "You'd be willing to give us some incentive…"
Trish immediately grabbed the punk's wrist and twisted in a manner it wasn't supposed to be, causing him to squeal a bit. Trish then gave a kick to the side of his head, sending him to the wall and making a dent on impact.
"How's that for incentive?" Trish amusingly asked.
"That's it!" Two punks said at the same time ready to punch her, but Gajeel stepped in front and took the fists to the forehead. Gajeel gave a grin, as they didn't hurt in the slightest.
Both punks pulled their aching fists back as they pulsed red. Gajeel punched one in the gut and the other in the face knocking them down. The first punk struggled to get up, but Trish pressed her boot to his face, pinning him to the wall.
"You still breathing?" Trish began. "Now, about those answers."
"Don't know how long I can keep her off ya, pal." Gajeel advised. "You'd only seen her good side so far."
"Okay fine! I'll talk!"
Trish then let up, allowing him to stand up along with the other two punks. The first punk, however was grabbed by the collar by Gajeel.
"Listen!" He began. "A giant lacrima should have popped up around here recently, and you're gonna tell us where to find it. So start talking!"
"I don't know where it is!" The punk panicky responded.
"Then how about we jog your memory a little bit." Trish said as she flexed her hand and cracked the knuckles a bit.
"Honest! We don't know where it is! Right boys?!" The other two punks nodded in response. Gajeel let him go.
"Guess we're gonna have to ask someone else then." Gajeel told Trish who shrugged.
"Get lost you losers." Trish told the punks.
"What's with you Gajeel? How'd you get so strong all of a sudden?" One punk asked, earning a confused look from Gajeel.
"And where'd you get this chick? Haven't seen her before. You're usually by yourself." The second punk said.
"And you're not the kind of guy to go around picking fights with people." The third punk observed.
Gajeel and Trish looked towards each other. "Got any idea what they're talking about?" She asked.
"They must be talking about some other version of me here in Edolas." Gajeel guessed. The two turned back to the punks.
"So where is this Gajeel you're talking about?" Trish asked much to the punks' confusion.
"I'm not him, we just look alike." Gajeel added.
"You joking? Come on you look exactly like the guy."
"Just answer the question." Gajeel told them.
"Tell us what he does, or I'll give you some incentive of my own." Trish warned.
"He's a freelance journalist and he has a reputation for being way too nosy."
"A journalist?" Gajeel questioned.
"Never knew you we're that kind of guy." Trish told him. "Maybe he might know where the lacrima is."
"Then lets get the scoop on him." Gajeel replied.
Meanwhile, in the black market shop
The group was looking around at the musty old shop. Mostly Wendy, Happy, and Carla; Dante, Natsu, and Modeus just stood around as they claimed to already have all that they'll need. Edolas Lucy and Lisanna we're talking to the shop owner.
"This place here smells like crap." Dante commented.
"That's because this stuff is old and priceless, its' what's separates my merchandise from the rest." The shop owner said.
"We didn't come here for old, usability is what matters most. There are lots of counterfeits here, so be sure to double-check everything." Edolas Lucy advised the group.
"Well most of us don't need this stuff seeing as we're already set." Natsu said.
"Can we get this one? Please?" Wendy asked Carla as she held a blue cylinder-like object.
"Why do you want it?" Carla questioned.
"Look how cute and tiny it is." Wendy replied.
"Come now, you know better than to choose based on cuteness child." Carla told her.
"Don't you already have something Wendy?" Happy asked.
Wendy took out the three-pronged nunchuck known as Cerberus. "Yeah, but I don't know how to use it." She begun to twirl it a bit before one of the prongs hit her in the head. "Ow!" She whined a bit as she rubbed her head.
Lisanna put a hand on Cerberus. "Maybe you should let me hold onto those, okay?"
"Okay." Wendy replied as she let Lisanna take Cerberus.
The shop owner walked towards Wendy. "That pretty little gizmo you got is called an Air-lift Cannon. All you have to do is pull the two ends apart and watch it work it's magic." As he pulled the ends apart a small breeze of air began to flow from the item. Wendy was very pleased.
"I believe that suits you." Modeus commented to Wendy, referring to her Dragon Slayer Element.
"I guess we'll take that then." Natsu said.
"Alright." The shop owner began. "That will cost 10,000; but I'll knock it down to 8,000 just because I like ya. How does that sound?"
"It sounds expensive." Dante commented.
"Well these items are hard to come by." The shop owner reminded.
"Uh…" Lisanna began. "I proably should have asked that first, but do you guys have any money?"
Natsu gave a laugh. "What made ya think that?"
"That's not funny!" Edolas Lucy exclaimed.
"I'm sure any currency we do have is useless here." Modeus replied. "Given we're not from here."
"Come on Lucy, pay the guy will ya?" Dante told her, causing Edolas Lucy to give a bit of surprised gasp.
"I hate to admit it, but being bossed around is kind of a nice change." Edolas Lucy thought to herself. "Not to mention this Dante guy is actually kind cute."
"I'm guessing you guys don't have money either, do you?" Dante assumed.
"Not really…" Lisanna gave a sheepish smile as she rubbed the back of her head.
"No." The shop owner said. "I couldn't take your money after all you lovely ladies have done for me." He told Edolas Lucy and Lisanna.
"It's nothing, just trying to help, that's all." Lisanna told him, trying to act humble.
"Just go ahead and take it as a present from me."
"Really? You sure?" Edolas Lucy asked.
"Thank you so very much." Wendy thanked.
"Yes, thank you for your help." Modeus also thanked.
"Come on guys, let's beat it, we're in a bit of a hurry, remember?" Dante reminded.
Once outside Dante was the first to speak up. "Seriously ladies, thanks. Any way to pay you back?"
Edolas Lucy looked to the side a bit. "Well… if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to hear more about this other Lucy of yours."
The group was now at an outdoor café. The group had just talked about the Lucy from Earthland, and right now all Edolas Lucy could do was laugh hard while pounding her fist against the table; while Lisanna giggled a bit to.
"Wait you're kidding?! I'm writing a novel?!" Edolas Lucy questioned as she continued to laugh. "And I'm some kind of rich girl with magical spirit keys?!" She laughed a bit too.
"Not quite the reaction I was expecting." Modeus observed.
"Well…" Lisanna snickered a bit to. "Given how different this Lucy is… even I think it's funny." She giggled.
Wendy looked towards Dante a bit and noticed an odd expression on his face. "Hey Dante, you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. It's just something here."
"Something up with the café?" Happy asked.
"Or the city?" Natsu asked.
"Not the city, but Edolas as a whole." Dante said. "This whole place, this world it has this… smell to it… it smells like shit or more like… blood."
"Blood?" Wendy asked.
"There's death here, all over this place." Dante said. "This King here, he's willing to kill anyone for just having something that even looks like magic; kinda scary, for a vulture anyway."
"You're calling him a vulture?" Lisanna asked.
"Yeah I think vulture sounds right." Natsu agreed.
"Watch it!" Edolas Lucy exclaimed. "Having magic is bad enough, but talking trash about the King like in public that will get you into serious trouble!"
"You're talking to us like we're a couple of ten year olds." Dante began. "Sister, I've seen things that would give you nightmares, the kind that would have you screaming for your mother. I'll call these guys whatever I want to call them. They stole my family from me and they're already messing up their own world to. They need to be put down, and I'm the guy to do it."
"What?! Are you insane!?" Edolas Lucy exclaimed. "There's no way you can fight the Royal Army!" She stated, as she stood straight up.
"Then why are you helping us?" Natsu asked.
"Guys look…" Lisanna began. "Believe me, I'm sure we all want to teach them a lesson but we just can't, we don't…. We don't have the means to fight them."
"We do." Happy pointed out. "And his name's 'Dante'."
Before anyone could answer, multiple Edolas Soldiers entered the outdoor café. "There they are! Corner off the area!"
"The royal army!" Lisanna exclaimed.
"How'd they find us?" Modeus questioned.
"You're Fairy Tail wizards aren't you?" One solider questioned.
"You ain't getting away this time!" Another soldier said.
Despite being found; Dante remained calm and sat in his seat. "Well, looks like we've been spotted." He said, almost as if he we're amused.
"Looks like it." Natsu added as he continued to sit calm as well.
"What are you guys doing?! We need to leave now!" Edolas Lucy told them.
"Seems she needs some convincing." Natsu told Dante. "Come on, show them what you can do."
"You're coming with us." One guard said as he walked towards the table. However, Dante, not even turning around, flashed his Ivory pistol over his shoulder and shot the approaching guard in the head, killing him instantly.
Edolas Lucy and Lisanna found themselves quite surprised at this; while the Royal soldiers also looked surprised as well. Using this, Dante kicked the table; the force sent him and the chair he was still sitting in straight the group of incoming guards. The chair shattered on impact and Dante flipped over, landing in the middle of the group of guards on his feet and left hand. As they tried to get to him, Dante pulled out his Ebony pistol in his other hand and began to fire. His bullets tore through the front most guards like tissue paper. He continued to fire but soon noticed these bullets we're blocked by something.
"Hmph, shields huh?" Dante said amusingly. The guards now held some form of glowing blue shields to protect themselves.
"Get him!" One guard yelled as they charged forward with their spears; but all the spears met the ground that was supposed to have someone there. They looked in surprise at this.
"Up here dickheads!"
They looked up to see Dante high in the air, wielding Rebellion. He dove down, sword-first. The impact caused many of the guards to go flying. Dante swiped his sword in a circular motion to knock back and cut down all the remaining guards.
Natsu had a smile on his face as this was expected and Happy had an even wider smile; Modeus had covered Wendy's eyes so she wouldn't see too much of this. Carla looked unsurprised. However, Edolas Lucy and Lisanna we're both speechless as their mouths hung open at this.
Dante stood proudly in the middle of the ring of dead guards. "Please hold your applaus."
"How did…" Edolas Lucy stuttered. "A whole squad I… just how… who… who are you?"
"As I said, my name is Dante."
"Where did you find this guy?" Lisanna asked Natsu.
"Long story…" Natsu began but he couldn't finish as a spear was coming towards him. Natsu was able to block it in time by quickly drawing Agni in his right hand. Natsu then gave a kick to the guard's head sending him rolling away, revealing another incoming squad.
"Hey looky, more goons to beat up." Dante observed.
"I got this." Natsu said with an eager smile as he drew Rudra in his left hand and jumped into the squad. He swung Agni and Rudra rapidly and was able to cut down most of the incoming spears. He blocked one spear-strike by crossing the two demon swords in an x-formation before head-butting the guy. Natsu then swept his legs to sweep the guards around him off his feet.
"Attack! Get him!" Another guard yelled as he and his other men we're about to charge forward.
"My apologies." Modeus stated as he quickly stood in front wielding Nevan, using the scythe to block the spears. "But I will not allow you to do that."
Modeus twirled the scythe like a helicopter blade to slice off the blades of the spears before charging forward; the force sent all the incoming guards flying away.
As Natsu, Dante, and Modeus attempted to fight off the guards, Lisanna drew Cerberus and smacked one guard that was running towards Wendy who tried to open her container, once she did however, it released a massive tornado which encompassed the group and sent them flying away from the remaining guards and into an empty building.
Edolas Lucy peeked through a hole in the door to see the Edolas guards running through the streets, they hadn't yet noticed them.
"Well, at least we're away from the Royal Army." She said.
"Too bad, I was actually enjoying shredding those idiots." Dante stated.
"You and me both buddy." Natsu replied.
"Do you guys have any idea what you did?!" Edolas Lucy angrily exclaimed.
"What?" Dante questioned.
"You, pretty boy, just killed a bunch of Royal Soldiers; now the Kingdom won't stop till you're gone!" Edolas Lucy stated.
"A lot a people tried to kill me, but I'm still here." Dante replied.
"You'd be surprised of what this man in particular has been through." Modeus added.
"Maybe we can argue about this after we find a way out of here." Lisanna suggested.
"Yeah that's probably a good idea." Wendy agreed.
"So how do we do that?" Happy wondered.
"Isn't there any way out of here?" Carla asked.
"Not that I know of." Lisanna replied.
"I don't mind fighting our way out." Dante said.
Before anything else could be said, the group heard some commotion outside.
"We found you Fairy Tail!"
The group looked surprise but even more surprised at what came next.
"Hey, let go of me!"
"What the hell?" Dante questioned as he recognized the voice.
The group peered the door open and all looked on with shock at what they saw.
"You're Lucy aren't you?" One guard asked as he and his other goons held a certain blonde wizard.
"Yeah I'm Lucy, now get you're grubby hands off me jerk!"
"Lucy?!" Natsu questioned.
"Our Lucy?!" Dante questioned as well.
"The other me?!" Edolas Lucy questioned to.
"What in the world…" Modues breathed.
"How's Lucy here?" Happy wondered.
"I.. I don't know." Carla replied, as she was quite confused herself.
"Let go of me!" Lucy exclaimed.
"Those pricks." Dante grunted as he and Natsu both ran towards this.
"Natsu… Wait!" Lisanna tried.
Lucy had taken out on of her golden keys. "Open! Gate of the Scorpion…"
"Lucy no!" Dante tried. "You're magic won't work here!"
"…Scorpio!"
In a flash of golden light, Lucy's celestial spirit Scorpio had appeared in front of the Edolas Royal Guard.
"Wicked!" Scorpio stated with a smile.
This was enough to make both Dante and Natsu stop in their tracks and everyone else behind to look in complete and utter surprise.
"Sand buster!" Scorpio unleashed a twister of sand from his tail that encompassed all the royal guard present and send them flying.
"Magic…?" Natsu breathed.
"No way." Wendy breathed as well.
"How could she…?" Dante tried.
"Wow. How'd she do that?" Edolas Lucy wondered.
"That's your Lucy?" Lisanna questioned.
"Yes that is her." Modeus replied.
With that Scorpio vanished from sight.
"Lucy." Dante called, and that is when she finally noticed them.
"Dante! Natsu! I missed you guys!" She began to run towards the group.
"This is confusing." Modeus said.
"No kidding." Wendy agreed.
Lucy then noticed her Edolas Twin behind the rest of the group. "That's me!"
"Well… isn't this awkward." Was all Dante could say at this point forward.
Done. Again sorry for the long wait, hopefully this chapter will help answer a few of your questions about the Edolas Arc.
I hope you all enjoy it. Once again, thank you for your patience. See you soon with my next update. Just to clarify something to you, this version of Nelo Angelo is basically a hybrid clone of Dante, Vergil, and Sparda.
