Chapter 7
Once I got to the puzzle with the disco lights, I smiled at Papyrus being on the other side and him smirking at me.
"AH, THE HUMAN HAS ARRIVED! THIS WILL BE YOUR NEXT-" Papyrus was about to say... but I simply ignored him and just started walking across the gray tiles, Papyrus immediately stammering at that. "H-HEY! STOP IT! YOU HAVE TO... UGH!" Papyrus groaned as I got to the other side with a smile.
"Sorry, but I'm getting a bit tired, bud. My brain can't really handle too many more puzzles before I need to take a nap," I smiled at him. And I was actually truthful. According to my watch, it was almost 8 PM from my world's clock and that meant it was almost time for me to go to bed.
"I SEE... WELL THEN, I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO GO AND GET THE OTHER PUZZLES UP TO SPEED TO MAKE YOU EVEN MORE TIRED! THAT WAY, I WILL BE ABLE TO CAPTURE YOU EASIER! NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!" Papyrus sneered as he rushed forward and Sans smiled at me.
"so you want to break some of the rules on your trip through, huh?" Sans smiled.
"Nothing's stopping me, right?" I smiled at him.
"nope, nothing at all. you should probably go after papyrus before you get sleepier... and be quick about it, or i'll start telling bad jokes again," Sans said, me smirking at him slyly. But I did note that Flowey was still nearby and probably spying on me from afar.
"Okay then," I smiled as I then went down the path and saw that Papyrus had finished up the puzzle with the x's and o's and managed to get them, despite the floor being very slippery from the ice. And after I did everything, the bridge then formed and I went through a very thick brush before reaching the other side... and when I did so, I then heard a voice.
"he..." I heard something say... though it was very far away and sounded... almost like it were a female voice.
"Huh? You heard that too, right?" Chara asked, me nodding at that. I then proceeded downwards and heard the voice clearer... and for some reason, it sounded a bit familiar.
"Help... please..." I heard it again... but here's the thing. The voice sounded like... it sounded like it was a little boy's voice. I then went forward and got jumped by Gyfftrot, who looked at me angrily as he sent me into a soul battle... and I looked at him with a smile.
"Hi there, buddy... tell me, who was the jerk that put that stuff on you and would you mind if I helped take that crud off of you?" I asked, the deer monster actually backing up a bit when he saw my soul's stats.
"U-Um... why are your stats all unknown?" Gyfftrot asked.
"Because of FUN... now would you like me to take that stuff off your antlers?" I asked, Gyfftrot looking around and then sighing.
"Fine, just don't do anything you might regret, human," he said, me nodding at that. I then approached him after placing my soul back in my body and took all the garbage off of his head. I took off some spiked wires, a photograph of Snowy and his family, a bottle of cologne by MTT, and a half-eaten jelly donut. I then sniffed the donut and decided to take a bite, me smirking at the taste of it being raspberry flavored.
"Mm... still tastes pretty good," I smiled, Gyfftrot faking gagging at that and me smiling.
"You know what? You're alright, human. Thanks for taking that load off my back. Take some money. You'll need it later," Gyfftrot smiled as he gave me 50 gold coins happily and then trotted off into the distance... and it was then that I heard the voice again.
"Please... help me..." the voice said. I then went further down the path and then heard the voice even clearer as I got to the Mysterious Place. "Please... I'm... I'm very scared..." the voice said again... and I could hear it coming from the other side of the door in front of me. The one that was impossible to open in the original game. And Chara gasped at the voice.
"That voice... I'd recognize it anywhere... it's Asriel!" Chara said, me gasping at that.
"Asriel?" I asked, the voice then responding soon after.
"Huh?... Is... Is someone there?... I can't see anything..." the voice said, me putting my ear to the door and hearing the voice clearer than ever before.
"You're stuck behind a door... one with the Deltarune on it..." I said as I then saw something I didn't see in the games. Some kind of combination on the door... but it was written in Wingding language above it. I then read the Wingding language to myself, since I had no clue if Flowey was still around or not.
"TO OPEN THIS DOOR, NAME THE JESTER FROM THE OTHER WORLD," the message said as I then noticed that the lock had pictures of Wingdings instead of numbers.
"This is gonna be tricky, but I think I know how to open this door," I said as I then rotated the pictures until I managed to make it say JEVIL in Wingdings. And once I did that, I then turned the knob and saw that it actually opened and I was able to go through the door, me seeing that I was now in an area that looked WAY too similar to Jevil's room from Deltarune. I then saw a soul in front of me. One that was white with a thick red border around it.
"That's... that's his soul. Asriel's soul! I know it is because that's my soul attached to it!" Chara said, me then touching the soul and me hearing Asriel's voice shortly after.
"W-WHOA! W-Who's there?" I heard Asriel speak from the soul.
"My name is Indie, prince. And I'm here to save you," I said, Asriel then being confused.
"Indie?... That's a nice name... and where am I? Aren't I dead right now?" Asriel asked.
"Well... it's a bit complicated, bro," Chara said, Asriel gasping at that.
"C-Chara?! H-How can I hear you?... I thought your spirit died when we did..." Asriel gasped.
"Listen, I think it'd be wise for us to get out of this room in case the door closes on us... just one question. Will your soul just vanish when we go out of the door? Because it is a monster soul, after all," I said.
"No, it wouldn't. Not when it has my soul attached to it... I don't even know how this is possible..." Chara gawked as I grabbed Asriel's combined soul gently and then had us exit the door, me then closing it back up shortly after and making the combination all go to the J wingding shortly after.
"Okay... I don't know why I think this, but I think G-man is the one that did this... I mean, think about it. Wingding language, talking about another universe as the password for the door, and the interior of the room looking just like the room from the other world," I said, Chara gawking at that as I then put Asriel's soul in my pocket's inventory. No way I'd let him out of my sight.
"Oh my god... you might be right about that, Indie! Let's continue on now... but we should definitely keep Azzy's soul a secret from Flowey. No way he'd be able to accept Asriel's soul in him the way he currently is," Chara said, me nodding at that.
"Agreed," I said, hearing Asriel speak soon after... the good thing was that Flowey wasn't nearby, as my heart wasn't thumping.
"Who's Flowey?... And how come I can now see everything, yet I can't control the movements?" Asriel asked.
"Um... what do you see?" I asked him.
"I see... a very spooky room with a big door, some glowing mushrooms..." Asriel said.
"I think... you're seeing what I see... tell me, what do you see now?" I asked as I closed my eyes completely.
"A lot of blackness... and some strange glowing lines moving all over..." Asriel said.
"Yep, it's official. You're seeing what I do..." I said, Asriel being confused at that.
"That's... oddly confusing... and who's Flowey?" Asriel asked again.
"He's a version of you... he holds your memories in the form of a golden flower, yet has no soul inside of him. Because of that, Flowey is very cruel and malicious. If we wanted to give your soul to him as of current, it wouldn't do any good at all," Chara said.
"How?" Asriel asked simply.
"I'll explain it in thought on our way to Snowdin. Just make sure you don't let your presence be known if you feel my heart thumping. That means Flowey is nearby," I said, Asriel humming yes at that as I then started to explain everything to him with just my thoughts. I told him all about what happened after his and Chara's deaths, Asgore's declaration of war against humanity, Toriel leaving to the Ruins shortly after out of anger, and how Alphys accidentally created Flowey during experiments with human Determination. And how this whole adventure was stuck in an endless loop because of this world being manipulated by another worlds' inhabitants. I finished explaining by the time I finished pacifying Greater Dog, him licking my face shortly after and looking like he got a bit spooked when he saw Chara, him looking at me and smiling at him and shaking my head while shushing him, the dog barking at that and returning to Snowdin shortly after.
"Whoa... so how do you know all this stuff, miss Indie?" Asriel asked me.
"Because I came from the world that I mentioned. The one that could determine the outcome of everything in this one... because it was a video game that people can play," I said, Asriel gasping at that, but him then feeling something that I did as well. My heart thumped again. Flowey was near, so we had to cut our conversation short as I then proceeded along the very long bridge and saw Papyrus and Sans on the other side.
"HUMAN! THIS IS YOUR FINAL AND MOST DANGEROUS CHALLENGE! BEHOLD! THE GAUNTLET OF DEADLY TERROR!" Papyrus said as I saw everything appear, including the dog. "WHEN I ACTIVATE THIS TRAP, EVERYTHING WILL MOVE ALL AT ONCE! CANNONS WILL FIRE! SPIKES WILL SWING! BLADES WILL SLICE! ONLY THE TINIEST CHANCE OF VICTORY WILL REMAIN! ARE YOU READY?!" Papyrus asked, me shaking my head no big time.
"D-Doesn't this seem a little bit too extreme? I mean, sure, I'm a human and I know that the king needs my soul, but couldn't you think of a puzzle that's much less... insta-kill?" I asked, Papyrus looking at me and then looking at the trap and then looking a bit worried.
"WELL... IT SEEMS... YOU'RE RIGHT! WE CAN'T USE THIS PUZZLE! I'M A SKELETON WITH STANDARDS! MY PUZZLES ARE UNSCRUPULOUSLY FAIR AND MY TRAPS ARE EXPERTLY COOKED! BUT THIS? THIS METHOD IS TOO DIRECT, NO CLASS AT ALL. AWAY IT GOES!" Papyrus said as he then pushed the button and the trap then disengaged, me moving forward after feeling safe, though I did look behind me just to get the flower out of the way, him retreating underground the moment I laid eye contact onto him. I then looked at Papyrus and he looked a bit nervous. "WHAT'S THAT LOOK FOR? THIS WAS ANOTHER DECISIVE VICTORY FOR PAPYRUS! NYEH! HEH!... HEH..." Papyrus groaned before then rushing off ahead, me then looking at Sans and him smirking at me.
"Hey, Sans? Do you do anything other than smiling?" I asked him, Sans smirking at that.
"heh, not much. i just try to smile as much as possible to get rid of anxiety," Sans said, me then feeling the thumping stop and Asriel then spoke again.
"Phew... that flower's finally gone... so who's this guy?" Asriel asked, Sans being a bit shocked by the voice that just spoke before he then looked at me with his eyes in a happy state.
"how'd ya find that kid? i didn't think his soul would still be around," Sans said.
"For some reason, I found him behind that door before Greater Dog's doghouse. The one that has the Deltarune symbol on it in that cave with glowing mushrooms... I have a feeling that it was hidden there by your dad," I said, Sans smirking at that.
"i dunno, but i feel like something about all of this doesn't add up... before you go facing papyrus in a fight, i'll let you into my house... but don't forget to get some cinnamon bunnies from the shop nearby. you may have a ton of HP and DEF, but we don't know if my pops is going to play fairly or not," Sans said, me nodding at that.
"Understood," I said.
