Hello to all my followers. I apologize for the agonizing long wait; work has been brutal this previous month for me, and I had some things going on in my personal life as well. Now let us begin with the next chapter of Fairy May Cry.
Devil Hand
A powerful roar echoed through the night as Cragnar lunged directly at Natsu with his mouth wide open, fangs coated in saliva. However, Natsu was able to jump back right before the chomp. The Salamander then lunged forward with a set of firey-punches to the reptilian demon's chest to send him skidding back. It was then Natsu noticed a mark on the demon's right shoulder; it was the symbol of a black pentagram with a black circle around it.
"Is that his guild mark? So this guy really is in a dark guild." Natsu thought as he jumped right above Cragnar with both his hands on fire.
"Fire Dragon Brilliant Flame!" He launched a series of fireballs at Cragnar who actually jumped high in the air to avoid them and latched onto Natsu with just his right claw before throwing him at the ground.
Natsu rolled in the ground as it made a bit of a crater; but before he could even get up Cragnar was already in front of him and swept his massive left claw at Natsu to send him right into a tree, causing it to break on impact as he blew right through it.
Natsu groaned as he got up. "Damn he's faster than I thought." He groaned as he spat some blood from his mouth and gazed upward to see the demon once again leapt in the air.
"Dinner Time!" He opened his mouth and came down toward Natsu in an attempt to eat him alive.
He didn't even get the chance as something pushed him down from behind, causing him to miss his target and slide on the ground. Natsu looked up to see it was Lisanna in her Take Over: Harpy form as she flew down toward his level.
"Natsu, are you okay?" She asked somewhat urgently.
The Fire Dragon Slayer still bore his signature grin as he rubbed his mouth. "Yeah, takes more than a few cheap shots to bring me down."
They both turned to the sound of a growl as Cragnar had gotten up. Natsu stood in front of Lisanna protectively as he glared at the demon that chuckled at the girl's appearance.
"I do like eating poultry." Cragnar licked his mouth with a large tongue, much to Lisanna's disgust and fright, before groaning in slight disappointment. "Unfortunately my master wants you in one piece."
"What the hell do you want with Lisanna?!" Natsu demanded. "And who's this master of yours anyway?!"
"None of your concern, Salamander."
"But why is a demon part of a dark guild?" Lisanna questioned.
Cragnar scoffed. "This coming from the same guild that allowed the youngest Son of Sparda to join." Natsu and Lisanna's eyes widened at that. "What? You didn't think we'd notice by now? You've allowed a demon in your ranks, it only seems fit the rest of us would follow suit."
Lisanna however looked a bit confused at Cargnar's earlier statement. "Wait… 'Youngest son'? Does Dante have siblings? Why didn't Natsu mention this?"
"I don't know why I'm even saying this to you anyway, I'm going to take this girl. But before I do…" Cragnar smiled sadistically. "I will devour the flesh from your bones, Salamander; and drop your skeleton at the footsteps of your guild hall as a sign to all the allies of that accursed Dante: anyone who sides against us shall die!"
Natsu's anger increased as did the flames on his fists "Try and eat me and I'll give you a wicked case of heart burn!" He and Cragnar leaped towards each other yet again.
"Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" Natsu's attacked connected with Cargnar's jaw just as his own fist connected with Natsu's face and the two we're sent flying back to their respective spots both landing on their feet and skidding before getting back up and glaring at each other.
Cragnar didn't get a change to attack back as Lisanna, still in her harpy form, lashed out at him with her talons; which he blocked with his enormous right arm; she scratched a bit, but it didn't seem to do much damage. He quickly reached with his left hand and grabbed her; pinning her winged-arms to her sides and prevented her from flying.
"Gotcha!" He exclaimed as she groaned in pain from his tight grip. "And now…" His eyes almost shot out as Natsu, completely coated in fire, had launched himself into the large demon's gut.
"Fire Dragon Sword Horn!" This forced him to let go of Lisanna as he was sent flying back and crashing into a nearby hill; causing it to tumble down on top of him. Natsu looked down to Lisanna as she reverted back to her normal form and rubbed her sore arms.
"You okay?"
"I think so…" She groaned slightly. "He's got a strong grip."
"Don't worry, I'm not gonna let him hurt you." He stood in front again and glared at the recovering demon. Lisanna looked a bit in surprise at him.
She had seen him like this before, when they we're both younger and we're threatened by the Forest Vulcan when it wanted to eat Happy's egg, even as a child Natsu wouldn't back down and protected both her and the egg from the monster; now here he is again protecting her from an even more dangerous monster. She couldn't help but smile at him. This is why she liked him so much; when it came down to it, Natsu would always protect those he cared about.
Cragnar growled in frustration as he got up. "Damn it all. I'm not going to get anywhere with him, he's stronger than I thought. I need to grab the girl and go. But how…" He looked at how Natsu was standing in front of Lisanna and then noticed it. He was protecting her; her safety mattered more to him than his own. This gave Cragnar an idea that caused him to smirk menacingly.
"Is that the best you got? Little Dragon Slayer?" Cragnar taunted. "I'm sure your mentor must be ashamed of you."
"What'd you say?" Natsu growled.
"He'd be rolling in his grave if he saw how weak you are."
The more Cragnar talked, the more Natsu got angry. His fists we're clenched so tight they we're turning white.
"I suppose its fortunate for you that your dragon is no longer here." Cragnar smirked as he finished. "Considering he and the rest of his kind are long extinct."
That tore it. Natsu's eyes roared with fury. "THAT'S A BIG FILTHY LIE!" He ran toward Cragnar without even thinking.
"Natsu wait!" Lisanna called out to him, seeing how Cragnar was luring him in, but it was too late as Natsu already slugged Cragnar across the face and knocked him down before he began to punch him across the face repeatedly.
"IGNEEL'S NOT DEAD! HE ISN'T!" Natsu shouted as he continued to punch him. "DON'T EVER SAY THAT HE IS! YOU HEAR ME!?" Cragnar smirked as Natsu was about to punch right in his face again, but Cragnar opened his mouth and bit down on Natsu's right fist; causing him to yell in pain.
"Natsu!" Lisanna shouted at the sound of his own scream. Cragnar tossed Natsu away, his right arm coated in his own blood, before running at incredible speeds, unusual for his massive build, and was already in front of Lisanna.
However, Natsu was already up, despite the bad shape of his right arm, and glared even further at the monster near Lisanna. He yelled again as his left fist was coated in a large ball of fire and he ran towards Cragnar. He pulled it back and was ready to punch Cragnar so hard his fist would run through his body; but the monster jumped in the air just as Natsu launched his fist.
Lisanna could only look in shock just as Natsu's flaming fist stopped less than an inch from her face. His eyes widened and he was able to stop himself just in time; but both could only look in deathly silence at what just happened. This is just what Cragnar was hoping for.
The reptilian-like demon lunged from the side with an open jaw and bit onto Natsu's side; his teeth sinking into Natsu's flesh with some blood squirting out and Natsu screaming in agony with Lisanna's pupils shrinking as she can only look in horror.
Cragnar shook Natsu's body in his jaw like an alligator would for its victim; however, it wouldn't last too long before Cragnar spat him out. The force of this action was enough to send Natsu crashing into a pond nearby. Blood could be seen pouring out of the large bite-mark on his side, it was a lot of blood, and Natsu's face was withered in agony with his own vision becoming blurry from the amount of blood he already loss.
"NATSU!" Lisanna was about to run toward him but Cragnar was already in front of her and delivered a punch to her gut to knock her out, causing her to fall into his palm.
Cragnar spat out some blood and groaned in disgust. "That tasted awful! He even tastes like a dragon!" He spat out some more before looking at the unconscious girl. Under normal circumstances he'd eat her up just to wash the bad taste from his mouth, but his master would have his head severed if he didn't bring the girl back alive.
"Doesn't matter, I've got you; and the Salamander is bleeding to death. My job is done here." He began to walk away with the unconscious Lisanna; just as the barley conscious Natsu could only look in blurry defiance at Cragnar as he made his way.
Magnolia
Lucy was in her own apartment when she suddenly had this odd feeling. She walked up to the curtains and pulled them back to look outside toward the star-filled sky. She couldn't explain why, but she suddenly had this bad feeling.
"Lucy? You okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine, just a bit…" Her eyes widened before she turned around and saw three individuals in her apartment. "What the?! HAPPY?! DANTE?!... YOU TOO LADY!?" Her eyes we're white and we're almost bulging out at the sight of them chilling at her table with Dante drinking a beer bottle, Lady with a can of soda, and Happy with a half-eaten fish.
"Yo!" Dante waved.
"Sup Blondie?" Lady greeted casually
"How'd you even get in here?! Why are you always breaking into my room?!"
"Cause it's fun to mess with you." Dante answered simply. "Right Happy?"
"Aye sir."
Lucy groaned before she rubbed her face. "Knock it off guys, I'm not in the mood."
"What's gotten you all so wound up?" Lady questioned. "From what I hear, you always have a fit when the blue fur ball here and his buddies always break-and-enter."
"Yeah, you would have been all 'GET OUT OF HERE'!" Happy said with a Lucy-mask on his head as he imitated her. "Is something wrong?"
Lucy looked out her window and up toward the moon. "Well I'm not really sure to be honest it's just… Natsu and Lisanna haven't come back from their mission yet, haven't they?"
"Nope, think they're still out." Lady replied.
"But don't you think they should have been back by now?" Lucy questioned with worry. "I mean it's just a fishing job, those don't take long."
Happy seemed to get what she was saying. "Yeah you got a good point. Now that you mention it… they probably should have been back by now. Natsu's not very patient he probably would have torched all those fish the second he got there."
"That does sound like flame-for-brain." Dante commented.
"So why aren't they back yet?" Lucy wondered before a look of concern and worry plagued her face. "You don't think those Devil Hand guys had something to do with it, do you?"
"I doubt that." Lady said. "They attacked the Magic Council, why go after us?"
"Maybe they want to get to you, Dante?" Happy suggested. "I mean, Morrison did say that Devil Hand had demons in it, and most demons hate you because your dad was Sparda."
"If that we're the case they would have attacked me, right here." Dante pointed out. "By now it's probably common knowledge that I'm a part of Fairy Tail; and finding this place isn't too hard, its not like the guild's location is top secret or anything."
Happy then had a teasing look on his face. "I think maybe she's more worried about Natsu with Lisanna."
Lucy fixed the blue Exceed with a glare. "Why would I be worried about that?"
"Maybe you're because you're jealous, that's why." Happy teased.
"WHAT?!" Lucy practically shrieked. "Why would I be jealous!? Just because Natsu is hanging out with someone else, it's not my business who he hangs out with! Why would you think I worry about that, anyway? Don't go saying have I a crush on him, cause I don't!"
"We didn't say you had a crush." Lady pointed out.
That caused Lucy to fall silent as her cheeks turned red. "This is ridiculous." She huffed as she sat down on her bed with crossed arms. "Why would I be crushing on Natsu? He's impulsive, a major glutton, he has terrible manners, he wouldn't know the meaning of the words 'personal space' if it stared him blank in the face!"
Happy stifled a chuckle as he looked toward the smirking Dante. "She's totally jealous."
"Oh yeah, big time."
Lady had a bit of a grin as she sighed and stood up before walking toward Lucy. "Hey." She looked up at her and was a bit surprised to see a look of comfort on the battle-hardened woman's face. "He may be an idiot, but Fire-breath can take care of himself. You've probably seen him take out all sorts of assholes before, right? And he always kicked their asses, right?"
"Yeah." Lucy nodded.
"So don't worry, he should be fine. Cause if someone does try to jump him, he'll beat them down so hard they won't know what hit them." She offered Lucy a hand up.
This seemed to ease Lucy a great deal as she gave an honest smile an accepted Lady's hand and stood up. "You're right, thanks Lady."
"No problem." She nodded. "Now why don't you have a beer with us? It could help calm your nerves."
Lucy chuckled. "I'm not Cana, I think I'll just make myself some tea." She bean to walk toward her kitchen-area.
Lady shrugged with her grin. "Suit yourself." She was about to close the curtains. "Personally I…" She happened to glance out the window when she spotted something out of the corner of her eye, or rather someone. A certain bald man with a blue and red eye and black suit.
That caused her pupils to shrink before she quickly pulled out one of her pistols, slammed the window opened, much to everyone's surprise, and point her gun down toward the cobblestone sidewalk, only to find that no one was there.
Dante and Lucy ran toward the window; while Happy flew with his wings, and they all looked down to see no one was there as well.
"What? What is it?" Lucy asked as she tried to look and see what Lady saw. Happy flew out slightly to get a better look and didn't see anyone either.
"I don't see anything." Happy pointed out. They looked in surprise to see not only was Lady still pointing her gun there, but her arm was shaking, as was her face. Her face seemed to mix something of a scowl to one of almost fear. This was something neither Lucy nor Happy had seen.
"Lady, are you okay?" Lucy tried to speak to her as she put a hand on the woman's shoulder.
The black-haired woman seemed to be in a bit of a trance almost, that is until Dante put his hand on hers to stop her from shaking. She looked toward him as he had a serious, yet concerned, look on his own face.
"You good?"
Lady took a few deep breaths to calm her. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" Happy asked. "You looked a little… scared."
"I just thought I saw someone."
"Who?" Lucy asked.
Lady ran a hand down her face as she holstered her gun. "Never mind. Hey Lucy, you still got some extra tea? I could probably use some."
Lucy was still a bit concerned, but decided not to pry and simply nodded. "Sure, come on." She led Lady away from the window.
"Hey Dante." Happy spoke to the red-clad Devil Hunter. "I don't think I've ever seen Lady like that. She looked very scared, have you seen her scared before?"
Dante didn't answer at first, concerning Happy. But he soon turned toward the blue Exceed. "Like she said, probably nothing. You know how it gets, hunting demons. Soon you find yourself always looking over your shoulder, maybe you should help them with that tea."
Happy didn't seem all that convinced, but much like Lucy, he didn't dwell too much on the subject. "Okay." He flew after the two females as Dante glanced out the window, still not seeing anyone, with a serious expression on his face.
There was only one person who could cause Lady to shake like that. There was no mistaking the look on her face; she thought she saw him. Dante had only met him once, it was when he and Lady first met, right before he started his Devil May Cry shop; he wanted to steal Dante's power for himself. He may have been physically human, but that man gave up his humanity long ago when he sacrificed his wife to gain the power he currently had. If Lady did see him that would mean that he's here in Magnolia, which could cause him and the rest of Fairy Tail a whole lot of trouble. Could he possibly be connected to Devil Hand? Well, nothing but to do now except wait. One thing was certain; things are going to get dark, even by Dante's standards.
Lisanna's eyes began to open slowly and she found herself looking upwards; she could see she was in a forested area, with treetops. However, what was odd was that the treetops above her appeared to be moving on their own. The more she regained her bearings, the more she realized that it wasn't the trees that we're moving, but her. But she wasn't moving of her own accord as she felt her body a bit stiff with something tight around it. Fully awake, Lisanna realized Cragnar was carrying her over his shoulder as he walked through a forest.
"Mmmph." She groaned, but felt something in her mouth as well as around her body. She looked to see there we're fines binding her wrists behind her back, more vines wrapped around her to bind her arms to her body, she felt her ankles we're also tied together by the same sort of vines; there was even a thick vine wrapped around her mouth with her teeth biting into it if she tried to speak.
"Mmmmpph! Lmmm mmm gmm!" She struggled against not only the vines tied around her, but the hand that kept Lisanna up and over the reptilian demon's shoulder.
"Well, look who's awake." Cragnar acknowledge as he continued on his way, with Lisanna struggling against her bindings still. "Don't bother, you can't escape. Those vines will keep you tight, and if you can't speak you can't cast spell either. But don't worry, I'm not going to kill you, you're more valuable to Devil Hand alive."
Lisanna glared over her own shoulder toward the direction of his face, but quickly remembered something. "Natsu!" She struggled even more to get out. "HMMMPH! RRRG! MMG!"
"Worried about your little Salamander? I wouldn't. He's probably long bled out by now." Lisanna's eyes radiant with worry when Cragnar said that. "You should be grateful that I didn't leave you to see him take his last breath." Lisanna's struggling stopped as tears formed in her eyes; the thought of him dying alone was unbearable. Before they could fall though, she forced herself to remember just who Natsu was. He was a Dragon Slayer, one of Fairy Tail's strongest; he took on the likes of both demons and dark wizards; he beat Gajeel, Laxus, and even the master of the Oracion Seis, she may not have seen those fights, but she heard about them from Natsu himself. He even took on both Faust and Nelo Angelo along side Gajeel, Wendy, and Dante. There was no way he'd loose to a demon like this.
Cragnar ceased his trekking for a moment and held the bound and gagged Lisanna with both his claws in front of his face as he looked at her while she glared in defiance.
"You know, you do look rather delectable." She glared at him further as he continued. "I've devoured my fair share of humans throughout my lifetime, but there's just something about females around you rage. They have this unique taste to them that's just so…alluring." He licked his fangs.
"I know my master said to bring you to him alive but… I'm sure if I just take a few nibbles. Maybe your hands and feet, that way you can't hit back or try and run away."
Lisanna did not like that idea one bit. Cragnar opened his jaw up and was ready to chomp, but she noticed his tongue slitting toward her, this gave her an idea. She pulled her bound legs behind and gave a powerful swing directly up at his lower jaw, causing him to chomp and accidentally bite his tongue off.
Cragnar roared in pain as he instinictivley let go of the bound and gagged Lisanna to hold his mouth. She fell on the ground but managed to roll her self down a nearby slope to gain some distance. She rolled down some ten or fifteen feet before slamming against a tree rather hard.
"Rrrgh!" She groaned slightly as the impact ached a bit. But noticed a sharp rock nearby so as quickly a she could, Lisanna shifted her body behind the rock and picked it up with her bond hands and began to cut away at the vines binding her wrists together.
Cragnar groaned quite a bit before he felt a new tongue grow back in his old one's place. He let the pain fade before he growled in frustration. He looked down to the slope and quickly ran to try and grab the girl before she could get away.
Lisanna was able to cut the vines that tied her wrists together; but the rest of her body was still restrained. She quickly saw Cragnar coming her way. No time to undo everything else, she reached up toward the vine around her mouth, while also lowering head as the vines around her arms and body made it difficult, but was able to pry it off her mouth in time.
"TakeOver:AnimalSoul:SheCat!" She quickly yelled in one quick sentence just as Cragnar was at her with his claws. It was a brief flash as he tried to grab her but missed as she was in the air when the flash subsided and in her She-Cat form. While in front of his face, she slashed her claws at his right eye. He yelled in pain as his right eye had been cut out while Lisanna landed behind him and took a battle-stance with her cat-claws at the ready.
Cragnar growled in anger as he turned around. Three bleeding claw marks we're evident on his right-eye-area, but his left eye was still functional as it glowed red with rage.
"You human bitch!"
"You mess with this cat you get the claws!" Lisanna leaped toward him at a speed that Cragnar couldn't counter as she slashed relentlessly at his body. Her claws cut pretty deep, but they we're not deep enough to be fatal; all they seemed to do was greatly irritate Cragnar who had now officially lost all his patience.
"ENOUGH!" He lashed out his right arm and hit Lisanna in her abdomen to send her to a large tree, almost breaking it on impact. She groaned as that hit knocked quite a bit of wind out of her. She was grabbed once more, pinning her arms to her sides so she couldn't claw at him again and pinned against the tree.
"You have no idea how tempting it is for me to just eat you whole and be done with it!"
"You won't get away this!" Lisanna exclaimed in defiance. "Fairy Tail will stop you! Natsu will….!"
"I told you, he's dead already!" Cragnar growled.
"There's no way Natsu could loose to someone like you! He's beaten worse monsters before."
Cragnar growled even more, so much so his teeth looked like they we're about to crack. "You talk too much! How about I rip out your annoying little tongue and…"
"Fire Dragon Roar!"
A large stream of fire hit Cragnar in the back; causing him to let go of Lisanna; he yelled in agony as he fell on his hands and felt the flames burn away at the scales on his back.
Lisanna saw whom it came from and could only give an ecstatic smile missed with relief. "Natsu!"
Cargnar's only functioning eye widened in shock as he glanced back and saw the Dragon Slayer as well. "Impossible! You should have bled to death!"
Natsu was standing on the hilltop; his jacket-shirt was gone, revealing his bare chest. One could see the diagonal scar on his chest, given to him by a certain blue-clad swordsman some time ago, but what stood out was what was in place of Cragnar's bite wound; his skin around the area was pink and looked burned and seared.
Cragnar realized it. "He used his own flames to cauterize the wound?"
Lisanna had realized the same sort of thing and had never expected Natsu to do such a thing, but than again, desperate times. The only thing that was certain now, was the look of rage on Natsu's face, his eyes burning directly at Cragnar; he looked like a true dragon about to rip his opponent to shreds.
"Get the hell away from her." He uttered in a deep breath. "I won't let you hurt her!" In blinding speed; Natsu had soared and scored a hit directly at Cragnar's jaw; knocking out several of his fangs. But he wasn't done there, he let loose several more fire-fists all across Cragnar's body.
"Flame Lotus: Fire Dragon Fist!" Natsu's fists came all over Cragnar at a rate similar to a gattling gun, with what appeared to be small sonic booms with each impact. Cragnar could feel many of his bones breaking, and the fire from each of his punches seared off more of his scales. After about 100 punches, Cragnar was sent flying back so hard, it tore up at least a dozen trees, leaving a long line of destruction in the forest.
Cragnar was burnt, bruised, and bloodied all over; multiple teeth we're missing; and even his tail was completely broken off. "How is this possible… how could he be so much stronger… his flames… so hot… after loosing this much… blood…" He struggled to get up; but roared in pain when he felt Natsu land hard on his chest and saw the Dragon Slayer glaring down at him with glowing eyes.
"If you ever come near Lisanna again, I will kill you! Do you hear me?!" Natsu threatened with a raised fist. "You'll wish you're fighting Dante when I'm done with you!"
Cragnar couldn't believe this. He and his brothers we're among the most feared in the Demon World, selected by Vergil to be part of his guild. Yet he was broken and on the cusp of defeat at the heads of a human; even if he was a Dragon Slayer, this was unacceptable. Well that was it; forget all this. He was done with it.
"If you care… for that girl so much…" Cragnar glared at Natsu with his only good eye. "Then… watch her die!"
He used his feet to kick Natsu off him and rushed at Lisanna at a speed that seemed impossible for a creature injured so baldy. Lisanna didn't have time to react as she saw Cragnar was already right in front of her. Her eyes widened as he brought his claws down on her.
*SLASH!*
Natsu's pupils shrunk from the spot he was kicked at as he watched in terror at the sight of Lisanna flying through the air and landing at a heap some distance away. Natsu could already smell the blood pouring from her. His face was completely shocked and horrified.
Cragnar's anger had not subsided, though he did feel a sense of satisfactory. "I don't care if he kills me for this. That felt good. Now I…."
Natsu's roar reached his ears in time to feel a powerful force derived into his abdomen. Natsu had delivered a powerful Iron Fist attack straight into the demon's abs, to the point it breached his hide and blood poured out from it. The punch was also powerful enough to send Cragnar high and into the air.
"I WARNED YOU!" Natsu yelled in pure anger and despair as the look he had could probably kill a man with pure fear just by looking at him. Natsu's entire body was coated in fire, especially around his arms, as he was about to unleash one of his most powerful attacks.
"DRAGON SLAYER SECRET ART: FLAME LOTUS EXPLODING FLAME BLADE!"
He unleashed a massive torrent of flames in the air directly at Cragnar whom was quickly enveloped by them. The flames we're more hot than anything he felt before; he could feel it burning away at his insides. Cragnar screamed in complete and total pain and agony as he felt himself burning alive.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHH!" He looked down at the enraged Natsu as he gave one final shout. "DEVIL HAND CAN'T BE STOPPED! THE TOWER SHALL RISE! THE TOWER SHALL RISE! AAAAAAHHHHH"
In a massive explosion of fire in the sky; Cragnar had been reduced to nothing but ashes that blew away in the wind from the explosion.
Natsu breathed in and out several times before his anger vanished and he rushed toward the downed Lisanna.
"Lisanna!" He quickly picked her up and saw the damage. There was a large cut on the side of her neck. Her eyes we're only open slightly, she was just hanging by a thread. "Lisanna… hang in there…" His eyes we're shaken with worry and desperation, tears we're beginning to form.
She glanced up at him as she slowly raised her hand. "Natsu…"
"It's okay! You're gonna be okay!" He tried to tell her, but he sounded more like he was trying to convince himself. "You're gonna be…" He felt her hand brush his cheek as tears we're already falling.
"I'm glad… I could see you... again…" Lisanna felt as though her time was ending. "Natsu I… I love…." She couldn't finish and looked about to pass on.
"No… No… Nonononono! No!" The teary-eyed Natsu shouted. "Lisanna! Don't you dare leave!" It was a horror show for him. She had only just came back into his life, and she was about to leave again?! No! It couldn't be! He promised that he'd find her! He wouldn't loose her again! But what he could do?!
"Igneel…. Help me!" He uttered. "Please I can't loose her again! Help me! IGNEEL HELP ME!" Natsu screamed at the top of his lungs for his father to help him.
Flashback
"Wait… You want me to do what?" A young, possibly six-year-old Natsu questioned.
"You heard me." Igneel said. The massive red dragon sat crossed-armed in front of his adoptive son. "I know your senses have developed now, you couldn't have misheard me."
"But I thought you we're gonna teach me how to fight?" The little Natsu asked.
"You already know how to fight, but there is more to Dragon Slayer magic than just breaking things." Igneel lectured.
"What am I gonna use this for anyway?" Little Natsu complained.
Igneel sweat dropped, silently wishing for his old friend Sparda to be here, the Dark Knight had much more patience than him. With a sigh, the Fire Dragon King began to explain.
"Natsu, listen. You are aware by now that Dragons can take much punishment. We can endure more pain than most creatures in the world. You know this, correct?"
"Yeah, cause you guys are so big and fat!" Little Natsu joked and laughed, only to be comically bonked on the head by Igneel's fist.
"First off, it's not fat! It's muscle!" Igneel replied quickly before claiming down. "Secondly, while it's true that we are… larger than most creatures, we also posses the ability to heal and recover from our injuries relatively quickly. As your abilities develop, your own Dragon Slayer magic will strengthen your body, enabling you to not only become stronger and faster than most other humans, but also enhance your durability and accelerate your healing. This is especially true when a dragon consumes his or own element; as you and I harness fire, we too can consume the same substance to restore ourselves."
Little Natsu looked up to his father in awe at the thought of that. "I can really do that?"
"In time, yes." Igneel confirmed. "And this technique I'm about to teach you, will pass that ability onto someone else."
This got Little Natsu even more excited. "Ooh. I can turn people into Dragon Slayers like me?!"
Igneel chuckled and shook his head slightly. "No. This will allow you to pass on your healing ability. Basically, you will pass on some of your own magic and blood to another, it will enable them to heal from an injury very quickly."
The pink-haired little boy was very intrigued in what his dragon-father was saying, but his large smile faded when he saw the serious look in Igneel's eyes.
"However, this technique is also very dangerous to your own being. So you must use it as only a last resort, when you have no other possible choice. If the person you are trying to heal is on the verge of death. While it can save them, it can also take away a large portion of your own power, and it can be even life threatening."
This caused Little Natsu to look nervous.
"So, I need you to promise me that you will only use it when you have to, when you have no other alternative. Promise me that." Igneel told him.
The small pink-haired boy looked down slightly and nervously as he shifted his feet before looking up at the red dragon. "Okay. I promise."
Igneel smiled. "No matter what, Natsu. I will always be proud of you. Don't ever forget that." Little Natsu had a small smile on his face when he heard that. "Now here's what you do…"
End flashback
Natsu had only just now remembered the technique Igneel taught him. He looked at Lisanna and saw that she was still barley alive. He had to do it now. He opened his left hand and bit down onto his palm, this opened it a bit and caused him to bleed from the wound he just inflected onto himself. He lit the fire on his bleeding palm and it turned from his usual orange to red, almost like blood.
"Igneel… I don't have a choice. I can't loose her again. I hope you we're right about this."
No time to doubt himself. He placed his red flaming palm on Lisanna's neck wound and began to pour it into her.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art: Blood Soul Fire."
The second he said those words; his own inner fire, coming from his core, as well as his blood, poured into Lisanna's opening and into her own body. One could make the argument he was performing a blood transfusion, giving his blood to make up for the blood she lost. But it was more than that; he was giving her the fire that was deep within him, almost from his very soul.
Her veins began to glow orange as if fire was flowing through them; her injuries we're quickly healing. Natsu could feel the wound on her neck beginning to close. However at the same time, he felt that he was also weakening, he did loose a bit of blood earlier when Cragnar bit him, and gave a lot of energy in that fight to finish him off; but he kept himself going, not stopping until he knew the worst had passed.
His skin was turning a bit pale as he took more raspy breaths. He felt his vision beginning to blur. However he felt the wound on her neck close completely; the fire glowing in Lisanna's veins vanished as her eyes shot open and she shot upwards taking multiple deep breaths. He did it; Natsu saved her life. This caused him to smile as he felt himself fall forward.
Lisanna saw him fell and caught him in her arms as she was sitting down and saw his pale face, his skin even felt cold to the touch. She looked at him with worry. What did he just do?
"Natsu? Natsu!" She was now getting worried, as he didn't respond at first. "Natsu! NATSU!" She almost screamed as she tried to shake him. He groaned as his eyes slowly opened and he saw her, causing him to smile.
"You're okay…"
Her eyes watered with tears as a smile formed on her face. She pulled him close and embraced him. "You saved me!" She cried tears of joy. "Natsu…"
He stifled a chuckle. "I promised, didn't I?" Those we're the final words he'd say for tonight as he let himself rest and fatigue take him. Lisanna felt him relaxing in her arms, she had a contentful smile as she knew he likely needed rest.
The moon shined brightly once more on the both of them as she looked at his smiling and unconscious face. She gave him a kiss on his forehead as she laid him down and rested her head on his shoulders as she too let fatigue take her. She fell to sleep with a smile on her face.
Done.
I hope you guys like this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. Natsu had just taken out the first member of the Devil Hand guild; but Cragnar also has some buddies who might not be so happy about that, we'll meet them in the next few chapters. But those guys are small fry compared to who else Vergil and Arkham have brought to their guild; which is saying something considering it took Natsu two of his most advanced techniques to kill this guy. Makes you wonder what kind of trouble the higher-ups in Devil Hand will give not just him but also Dante and the rest of Fairy Tail.
It would also seem Arkham is spying a bit on Fairy Tail without the guild knowing, not yet anyway.
But what exactly did Natsu just do to Lisanna? He healed her with a technique Igneel taught him (this was something I made up, its not a cannon spell; and due to the amount of energy it takes from Natsu, it's not something he's gonna use frequently, only if someone he cares about is close to death. ) It's not like Wendy's healing spells and it may have some… side effects. Don't worry, nothing too life-threatening, but what kind of effect will it have on Lisanna, we'll we shall see soon in the next few chapters (No it will NOT make her his mate or anything. That was what happened in Bound by Fate, and I don't want to copy too much from that).
I look forward to writing the next one. See you soon.
