Chapter 13
As I made my way through the dump, I eventually came across the dummy, who looked like he was seething a bit. I then approached him, deciding to talk to him to see what was up.
"Hey, you doing okay? You look a bit steamed right now," I asked, the dummy looking at me with his angry eyes and getting mad, as expected.
"Of course I'm steamed! My cousin was just like me, living inside a dummy as a ghost... until YOU came along!" he growled angrily, me shaking my head at that.
"No, that's the opposite of what happened. I called him my friend and gave him a small hug. If anything, he looked quite happy afterwards," I said, the Mad Dummy looking at me with angry eyes and then growling.
"Then how come that flower guy told me that you said horrible things to them and spooked them right outta their dummy?!" the mad guy asked, me frowning at that. Flowey does his magic again, as expected.
"Because that flower wants me dead, that's the only reason why he said that to you," I said, giving him the blunt truth, the dummy frowning and growling a bit before he then turned red out of nowhere and yelled in a rage.
"If it wasn't you... THEN IT HAD TO BE HIM! THAT FLOWER IS GONNA FEEL MY RAGE THAT I'LL SPOOK HIM RIGHT OUT OF THE GROUND!" the Mad Dummy exclaimed angrily, me then looking at Chara and sighing before shaking my head.
"Or, maybe the flower simply said that and was lying about everything. Maybe your cousin is still inside his dummy?" I asked, the Mad Dummy looking at me in confusion at first before he then pulled a cell phone from one of the trash piles and tried to make a call. And I smiled when he got his answer shortly after.
"Cousin? You're alive! I'm so happy. Happy! HAPPY!" the dummy guy smirked widely afterwards, me and Chara fist-bumping at how we just dodged the Mad Dummy fight. "Well... I'll tell ya later, cousin. Stay safe and stay away from any talking flowers, got it? Okay, good, bye," the dummy said before then hanging up and looking at me with a smile. "Sorry for snappin' at ya, human lady. I tend to fly off the handle if someone threatens my family members," the dummy said with a smile.
"It's alright. So... do you have a name, by chance?" I asked.
"Yeah, I do. I'm Madden and I'm actually hired as Undyne's tackling dummy full-time. It's a living," he smirked at me.
"Well, I'm actually on my way to Hotland right now and I think Undyne might cross paths with me again... maybe, if you wait at her house, she'll come back after a bitter defeat and take out her frustrations on you?" I asked, the dummy smirking at that.
"That sounds perfect! See ya, miss!" he smiled as he then hovered north as Napstablook hovered south and I then looked at him with a smile.
"oh... hey there, indie... sorry... i interrupted your playtime with your friend, didn't i?" he asked, me shaking my head no at that.
"No, no, you didn't do anything wrong, Napstablook. He just bid farewell to me and is going back to work," I said, the ghost smirking at that.
"i... i see... i'm going to go home now... feel free to come with if you want... but no pressure," Napstablook said, me following him the whole way to his joint, but not before I made a save spot in the crossroads. And when I did so, I then went to Napstablook's pad and Chara frowned at the place.
"You'd think he'd try to have a bit of interior decor or something," Chara frowned.
"oh... you really came!... i wasn't expecting that... it's not much, but... make yourself at home," Napstablook said, me smiling at him widely.
"Thanks, Napstablook," I smiled at him as I then looked at his computer and saw that he was actually accessing the music files in the game and remixing them. "Hey, Napstablook? You think you can turn on that song right there?" I asked, pointing to the Icarus mix of Power of Neo, which was one of the most popular Undertale fan songs out there... hard to imagine that Napstablook remixed it in this world.
"sure..." Napstablook smiled as he turned on the music from the start and I heard it start with the record effects and me smirking as I then sung the one part aloud that everyone knew and loved from the song.
"OOOHHH YEEESSS..." I said in the deepest voice I could muster before I then started to jam to the song, Chara looking at me like I was a buffoon while Napstablook smiled at me and actually chuckled a bit.
"Come on, Napstablook, join in!" I smirked, the ghost guy doing just that and both of us proceeding to dance to the beat like we were on a disco floor, both of us actually dancing for a good 2 minutes before the song then ended, Napstablook smiling after our dance party ended. "That was fun!" I smirked happily.
"It was weird is what it was," Chara smirked, me giving her a playful glare for that comment before Napstablook smirked again.
"thanks for dancing to my remix, indie... i haven't had that much fun for a long time... are you going to be heading out soon?" Napstablook asked, me sighing at that.
"Yeah, I am... I have an appointment to make with the king, after all. But hey, just know that, from this moment onwards, both of us are ghost buddies, okay?" I smiled at him.
"ghost buddies... heh... but you're not a ghost," Napstablook said.
"Well, back where I came from, I pretty much was one... you and I actually share a lot in common. Laying on the ground to feel like garbage, listening to tunes and making them... being bored every passing minute of the day when there's nothing else to do," I said with a small smile.
"yeah... okay, we'll be ghost buddies... gbf's... ghost buddies forever... or at least, until you die of old age... then it'd be even more literal..." Napstablook smiled, me chuckling at that.
"Heh, didn't expect you to be a better comic than Sans, bud," I smirked at him as I then gave him a hug, which I was surprised I could actually touch him. "Wanna give me your number? That way we can keep in touch more often," I smiled.
"sure... here, this is my number..." Napstablook smiled as he gave me his number (almost all of them were 0's) and I gave him mine. "stay safe, indie... i'll root for you from afar, bud," he smiled at me.
"I'll do the same for you, ghost buddy," I smiled at him as I then left the ghost's pad and then proceeded to the east. Along the way through the glowing mushroom room, I encountered a Temmie (who I pacified just by saying HOI to it and then petting it... luckily, I wasn't allergic to Temmies, so that was the good thing) and the Temmie then gave me something I didn't expect. It was the cloudy glasses, which actually had a purple rim to them and looked pretty thick as well... though the lenses were filled with scratches and dust. "Where' ya get this from, little guy/girl?" I smiled at the Temmie.
"Tem get dat fwom Ald Gersn! Feel free com to Tem Village any times!" Temmie smiled before then going off to Temmie Village with their face following them after three seconds passed by.
"Why aren't you weirded out by those things?" Chara asked me.
"Because Temmies are adorable, that's why. Back home, I actually had a couple of cats and I named one of them Temmie," I smiled at her.
"I agree, Temmies are pretty cute. It's just the way they talk is very odd," Asriel admitted from my inventory.
"Fine, majority rules. I just think they're weird period," Chara frowned as I then touched the last glowing mushroom and proceeded through the darkening lantern room, only to get jumped by a Moldbygg on the way. And when it saw me, it growled and hissed angrily, but I simply hugged myself and Moldbygg gurgled a bit before then leaving me be with 50 gold coins, me smiling at that.
"I guess that's what un-hug means, huh?" I smiled.
"Pretty much," Chara smiled back as we then got to the room that was very dimly lit until I found the Echo Flower. And when it spoke, it sounded like a little girl's voice.
"Behind you," the voice said, me being confused at that while Chara gasped.
"That was the voice of the purple soul... she was called Sharpei and she was the one that lasted the second longest of those who fell down here. Those glasses used to belong to her," Chara said as I then looked behind me and saw Undyne approach with her clanking metal armor.
"Seven. Seven human souls... With the power of those souls, King Asgore will shatter the barrier, become a god, and destroy the human scum for all the suffering they inflicted onto us," Undyne said before looking at me. "Don't you get it, human? Your soul... it will finally free us from this awful existence. This is your chance to redeem your kind by giving up. Now stay still this time. There's nowhere to run to," Undyne said as she then formed a spear in her hand and GG gulped in my head.
"Please tell me your soul still his FUN in it," GG said to me and only me, as Undyne didn't hear her.
"It still does, I'm positive," I said as Undyne then tried to connect the spear to me before MK jumped in front and made Undyne screech to a halt.
"YO! I'm here to save ya, Indie!" MK smiled, me looking at her with a smile.
"Thanks for the save, MK," I smiled at her.
"No problem!" she smirked as Undyne then groaned and grabbed her by the cheek. "Agh! Hey, not cool! Let go of me!" MK said in defiance, which kind of shocked me whenever she then broke free of Undyne's tight grip on her cheek and then ran back to me again.
"Human, take that kid off of your mind control, right now," Undyne said, me frowning at that.
"Peh, I wish I had mind control powers. Then I could get you to cluck like a chicken. Oh, that'd be a laugh," I smirked, Undyne growling at me angrily. "How about this? We make our battleground be near the entrance to Hotland. No interference, no killing. Just both of us in a competition of cat and mouse," I said, Undyne frowning at that.
"Fine. I'll await you there, human scum. And this time, don't have the kid stand in for you," Undyne said, me waiting until Undyne was out of range before then looking at MK with a smile.
"Hey, MK? That was awesome what you did just there," I smiled at her.
"Really? You mean it?" she asked with eyes of wonder.
"Yeah! You stood up to the captain of the Royal Guard to help out a friend. You're probably the coolest kid in your class now, and you got me to back up your story," I smiled at her, MK smirking and cheering a bit at that.
"YAHOO! I'm awesome! Let's go meet with Undyne! I want to see how you do when you face her in a fight!" MK smiled as she and I then ran ahead... but just as we were crossing the bridge, the same thing happened just as in the games. MK tripped on the bridge and they only barely hung on to the bridge using their teeth! "Y-YO! Wait! I tripped!" she exclaimed, me rushing back and grabbing her before she could fall to her doom, me then lifting her back onto the bridge with a sigh of relief.
"Whew... take a note of this, MK. Don't run along bridges when you have no arms. It's hard to balance on those things," I said, MK smirking at me.
"Thanks a lot for saving me, Indie. You saved my skin there," MK smirked, me then having us walk slowly across the bridge until we then made it to the area outside of Hotland, the tunnel in front of us being quite large and jagged with Undyne standing at the top of the crag.
"I knew you'd come here, human. They all did... and they all fell," Undyne said with seriousness as MK then waited on the sidelines. "Before our battle starts, as is custom to those who make it this far, allow me to tell you the tragic tale of our people... it all started long ago..." Undyne said before she then looked at me directly. "No, you know what? SCREW IT! WHY SHOULD I TELL YOU THAT STORY WHEN YOU'RE ABOUT TO DIE?! NNNNGGGGGAAAAAHHHH!" Undyne exclaimed as she then took off her helmet and smashed it to bits with her bare hands, me smirking at her power display and giving a slow clap to be sassy. "Human! This is where I draw the line! It's time for you to face your death like a woman! I'm tired of you always using that kid as a reason to escape and I hate that stupid schtick of yours. 'Oh, look at me, what a difference I'm making by hugging random strangers!' Hah, what a joke!" Undyne exclaimed, me frowning at that.
"Maybe it's because I'm not a person who likes to kill others? You ever thought about that, fish face?" I asked, MK gawking at that.
"Whoa! Sick burn, bro!" MK smiled at me as Undyne growled angrily.
"Step forward if you want to die that badly!" Undyne exclaimed, me only taking one step forward and Undyne growling angrily. "OKAY, THAT TEARS IT! HERE I COME!" Undyne exclaimed as she leaped from the top of the crag and tried to slam her spear into my gut... but I dodged out of the way easily, Undyne gawking at that as I then smirked at her.
"Bye bye, Undyne," I smirked as I then ran full steam through the tunnel ahead of me, followed by Undyne and MK bringing up the rear, me not stopping until I got to the water jug and Undyne looked like she was overheating.
"Armor.. so hot... but... I can't... give up... I can't..." Undyne said before she collapsed on the ground from heat exhaustion, me immediately grabbing a cup of water from the jug and pouring it right on Undyne's face, her moving around a bit as I then started to take her armor off to see that she was dressed in her regular clothes underneath. Undyne looked at me in confusion after waking up from heat exhaustion and noticed that her armor was on the ground... and it was searing red hot. "What the..." she gawked before then looking at me with confusion all over her face.
"I'd rather let you stay alive then let you become fried fish sticks. That doesn't seem like a heroic way to go out, does it?" I smiled as I booped her on the nose and she simply scoffed, got up, dusted herself off and left the way she came from in a huff, leaving her armor on the ground in the process as I then got a call from Papyrus.
"Hello?" I smiled into it as MK caught up and they smirked at me.
"HEY THERE, INDIE! I HAD A BRIGHT IDEA! I THINK WE SHOULD GO TO UNDYNE'S HOUSE! I HAVE A PERFECT PLAN TO HAVE YOU AND HER BECOME FRIENDS!" Papyrus said, me smirking at that.
"You, my friend, have got yourself a deal," I smirked as I then hung up and MK smiled at me with her tail wagging.
"Yo, dude! That was awesome! You totally trounced Undyne! You're the best friend ever!" MK smiled, me smirking at them.
"She is, indeed, very good at this adventure... but I do wonder what might change in the future?" GG asked.
"Who even knows at this point?... Anyways, I think I should take Papyrus's offer and get going to Undyne's place... but it's a pretty far walk from here, right?" I asked, MK smirking at that.
"Not a problem for the River Person! They can ferry you to there from the dock in Hotland or Snowdin!" MK smirked, me smiling at that.
"Okay, let's go see if they're waiting for us, then," I smiled as I then proceeded to the dock and saw that the River Person was there and they looked at me with confusion.
"Hmm... you are not of this world, correct?" they asked, me smirking at that.
"I had a feeling you'd be aware of that, River Person, considering you warn about the doctor who spoke in hands frequently," I said, them sighing afterwards.
"Indeed... as well as the man who came from another world... and that is pertaining to the players, such as yourself... now, what do you want?" they asked.
"MK and I want a trip to the Waterfall dock. Is that okay?" I asked.
"Of course, hop aboard," they said, me smirking at that and me and MK then riding the boat for a good 20 minutes before then being let off at the pier in Waterfall. "We're here. Do come again, Tra-la-la," they hummed, me smirking at that. Now I had to go meet with Undyne... and most likely, tell her about the situation about me and my powers of FUN.
