Chapter 14
Once MK and I arrived at Undyne's house, we saw that Papyrus was waiting outside and he looked pretty excited.
"WOWIE! YOU ACTUALLY SHOWED UP! AND WITH ANOTHER FRIEND, TOO! OKAY, STAND BEHIND ME AND GIVE HER THIS WHEN YOU SEE HER. SHE LOVES THESE," Papyrus said happily as he gave me a present bone and I smiled and accepted it. He then knocked on the door and me and MK hid behind Papyrus as best we could.
"Hey there, Papyrus. Ready for your extra-private one-on-one training?" Undyne asked with a smile.
"YOU BET I AM! AND I BROUGHT A COUPLE FRIENDS!" Papyrus smiled as he then moved and Undyne smiled with her eyes closed before then opening them while speaking.
"Hiya, I don't think that... we..." Undyne said before holding on that word for a good 10 seconds before I then smiled and waved hi. "Why don't. You guys. Come in?" Undyne asked, obviously holding in her anger as we then went inside and MK looked super excited.
"Wow, this is so cool! I'm actually in Undyne's house! All my friends will be SUPER jealous now!" MK smiled in excitement, me smirking at the tyke as I then gave Undyne the bone.
"Here, Undyne. A bit of a peace offering," I smiled at her as I gave her the bone and she looked a bit unsure of how to proceed.
"Um... thanks... I'll uh... put it with the others," Undyne said as she then put the bone in the drawer filled with them and then looked at us with a forced smile. "So, are we ready to start?"
"WHOOPSIE-DOOPSIE! I JUST REMEMBERED... I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM! YOU THREE HAVE FUN!" Papyrus said as he then jumped through the glass window and I smiled at how MK giggled at it.
"Haha, he's funny," MK giggled.
"So why are you here, human? To rub your victory in my face? To humiliate me even further? Is that it?!" Undyne growled, me shaking my head no at that.
"No, I'm not the gloating kind. Besides, I'd hardly call that a victory, since all I did was run away," I said, Undyne frowning at that.
"Then why are you here?" Undyne asked.
"I came here for two reasons. One, to see if you could give a souvenir to MK. She's a big fan of you," I smiled, MK smirking and nodding at that. "And the second reason, I wanted to know if you'd like to be friends instead of trying to kill me... besides, it'd be impossible for you to kill me anyways, considering the state of my soul," I said, Undyne frowning at that.
"And how would that be, again?" Undyne frowned as I then forced my soul out of my body... and Undyne gawked at it. "Oh... Oh my god... how much FUN is in this soul?!" Undyne gawked.
"A lot. Enough to make it so that I'm immune to any and all damage... and also, I'm apparently immune to your green attack, too... but other than that, it also lets me see people who are lost to the Void, such as Professor Gaster and MK's grandma, Goner Kid," I said, Undyne looking at me in what looked like worry before she then rushed over to the window and proceeded to board it up, me looking at her in confusion. "Um... is there something up, Undyne?" I asked, her then nodding at that.
"Listen, you need to keep what I'm telling you absolutely secret, okay?" Undyne asked, me nodding at that.
"What's this secret of yours?" I asked.
"Okay... my friend Alphys has a very dark secret that's she's been keeping in her labs. She didn't mention much to me, but all I know is that she mentioned two things... first is that the test subjects had something bad happen to them with Determination... and she said the only cure would be a concentration of FUN," Undyne said, me gawking at that.
"Y-You're serious?" I gawked. "Dang... that's shocking... so why tell me?" I asked.
"Your soul... it may look like it's Determination with a ton of FUN, but I can see it differently. It's almost as if it's completely made of FUN with a sliver of Determination. If you can convince Alphys to let you see the test subjects, I'm sure that she could use the FUN from your soul to help them out!" Undyne said, me smirking at that.
"Hmm... sounds like it'd be a challenge, though. After all, from what I heard from Shyren earlier, Alphys is a complete recluse and doesn't let anyone in the labs other than you. So how would I get her to have the confidence to tell everyone?" I asked.
"That's easy. I have an idea," Undyne said as she then gave me something I didn't expect her to give so early on. The letter. "If this doesn't make her get confident, I don't know what will. Just tell her that it's from me, okay? And if you happen to open it before you meet her, I will find some way to kill you, got it?" Undyne said, me smirking at that.
"Sounds like a true challenge. I'll accept so long as you and I can be friends," I said, Undyne smirking at that.
"Fine, I'll be friends with ya, but only AFTER you get Alphys that letter, okay?" Undyne said, me smirking at that as she then got something for MK, that being the teacup that was shaped like her head. "Here ya go, kid. Looks just like me, doesn't it?" Undyne smiled, MK smiling at it as she then put it in her inventory happily with her teeth.
"Thanks, Undyne! Now I'm gonna be the coolest kid in the entire Underground!" MK smiled widely as we then left the place and we then proceeded back to the River Person, me smiling at how we were able to spare Undyne's house in the process. But now I had to wonder what would happen with Alphys and the Amalgamates... especially since Undyne said that FUN was the cure.
"This is certainly different than normal. If you can save the Amalgamates, that'd be pretty awesome," Asriel smiled widely.
"I agree. They deserve a very happy ending, especially considering their sorry states right now," Chara said, me smiling at that as the boat then docked at Hotland and we then left the boat and went to the lab, me being surprised at how it was wide open, me and MK going inside and me frowning at how the cameras were focused directly on me and projected on the jumbo screen.
"So... Alphys is a fan girl for humans?" GG asked in my head.
"Well... yes and no," I said as I then got to the dog food bag and heard the elevator door open and for Alphys to start speaking soon after.
"Entry number 1,450,230... same as usual... still being a nervous wreck for every single reset... but the cameras show something interesting with the new human... hoping for something different this time," Alphys said as she then turned on the lights and then looked at me and MK before then gulping, me now knowing something else about Alphys. She also was aware of the world being a game!
"O-Oh my god, the human! I-I didn't expect you to get here so soon! I'm barely dressed, my hair's a mess... oh my god the cameras are watching..." Alphys said, me smiling and simply clearing my throat.
"Um, you do know that I'm not a normal run-of-the mill Frisk, right?" I asked, MK being confused at that while Alphys gasped.
"H-Huh? B-But didn't you say your name was Indie?... H-How do you know... Frisk?" Alphys asked, me smiling at her.
"Because I was usually the one in control of them... all true pacifist runs," I said, Alphys sweating even more at that as I then held something in my hand.
"I-Is that... it's a bit e-early for that... i-isn't it?" Alphys asked, me shaking my head at that.
"I don't want to do the Omega Flowey bit, so I'm doing things much differently this time around... please, just open it and read it? I want to get your confidence up as well as give you something that might help you out," I said, Alphys gulping at that.
"A-And what might that be?" Alphys asked.
"FUN. Just look," I said as I then showed her my soul and Alphys's jaw dropped to the floor... figuratively, of course. She was very baffled when she saw it, though.
"O-Oh my god... t-that soul.. the FUN value in it... it's infinity!" Alphys gawked, me being surprised at that.
"You actually know the exact amount of FUN? And it's infinite?" I asked in surprise.
"Yes, I do!" Alphys said before the bumps began to happen, me frowning at that.
"And here he comes... the ham of the hour," I frowned as the bumps then got louder and more forceful. "We'll talk when he's gone," I said as Mettaton then completely crashed through the wall and then said his famous line, me smirking at how his voice sounded exactly like the voice from Undertale the Musical, my favorite musical ever.
"Mettaton no!" Alphys exclaimed.
"Mettaton yes!" Mettaton exclaimed. "Welcome beauties and gentlebeauties... to today's quiz show!" Mettaton exclaimed, the disco lights then appearing above us and MK smirking widely.
"Oh my gosh! I'm on Mettaton's show! Hi, mom and dad! I'm waving at you!" MK smiled at the camera, her waving her head around happily.
"Today we have a very lovely contestant with us. Please give it up for the weird human!" Mettaton smiled as he then clapped and confetti rained down on me. "Never played before darling?"
"Nope. I played at home most of the time, but not actually participated in these things before," I smiled.
"Oh, it's very simple! All you have to do is answer the questions correctly... OR YOU DIE!" Mettaton exclaimed as he then had me enter a soul fight and Alphys looked a bit worried as expected with Mettaton then proceeding to ask me questions. "Here's the first question. What is the reward for answering correctly?" Mettaton asked as the options appeared and Alphys gave me the correct answer, me choosing it with a smile and doing the same thing for every other question, there being at least 15 this time... and the final question was of Mew Mew Kissy Cutie, Alphys then raising her hand in the air and giving her long and profound answer of Snail Ice Cream, which Mettaton then spoke again.
"Alphys, darling. You aren't helping our lovely contestant are you? OOH! You should have told me! Very well then, good doctor. I'll ask the human a question that you would surely know the answer to!" Mettaton smiled, him then asking the question and me then seeing that Alphys waved her hands in a "please don't" fashion. "Who does Alphys have a secret crush on?" Mettaton asked, me shaking my head at that.
"I'm not going to bother answering this question, mostly because she looks super-mega embarrassed already. Now how about you go ahead and leave me alone for a change, you tacky cube," I said, Mettaton gasping at that and simply scoffing at that.
"Tacky cube?! Hah! You're a riot, human!" Mettaton said, saying the last sentence with venom in his voice. "Well then, if Alphys is helping you out, then this show has no drama or tension! But don't worry my lovely viewers! This was only the pilot episode! Tune in next time for more drama! More romance! More bloodshed!" Mettaton said with his usual enthusiasm before he then rocketed himself out of the ceiling, making a skylight in the process... or what the humans would call that, since we were all underground.
"Whoa, that was so cool!" MK smiled widely as I then gave Alphys the letter and she looked a bit hesitant, before she then opened it and read it, me smirking as she blushed upon reading it and I smiled.
"Hey, Alphy?" I asked, getting her attention after she hugged the letter to her chest. "I know that I might get killed if I do so, but do you think I could read what Undyne wrote down?" I asked, Alphys blushing at that with a small, giddy smile.
"Sure... go ahead," Alphys smirked, me then looking at the letter and smiling at what it was. It was filled with passion with every word spoken and it was all written in cursive with pink colored pen. It was pretty gorgeous how romantic Undyne could be.
"Heh, so about what you said earlier... could you explain a bit on what happens to you with those resets? We can talk on the way down the elevator," I said, Alphys still sweating, but nodding at that.
"O-Okay... come with me... j-just try not to be spooked... especially with your friend..." Alphys said as she then held my hand and immediately saw Chara, her gasping at that, but not letting go. "A-Alright..." she gulped as she then led us to the elevator and we went down, me hoping it didn't fall down the whole way like it did before... and lucky us, it didn't.
"You were surprised when you saw me, huh, science lizard?" Chara asked with a smirk.
"K-Kinda..." Alphys admitted as the elevator stopped at the ground floor and only then did Asriel speak.
"Now that we're out of earshot of that flower, I can finally let my presence be known as well, thank goodness," Asriel said, Alphys gasping again at that.
"A-Asriel?... N-No... how is that possible?" Alphys asked in confusion.
"I found his soul hidden inside of a secret door, placed there by Professor Gaster," I said, Alphys sweating again and looking a bit nervous before then moving us forward again... through the dimly lit halls of the True Lab. It looked pretty creepy seeing it in a more realistic setting, much like some of the monsters I was coming across.
"Okay... about the resets... my memories happen to stay the same after every reset happens... I remember everything... but... the system makes me become a complete nervous wreck after every reset... it's like it hates me..." Alphys said with tears, me frowning and giving her a heartfelt hug, Alphys then calming down from it and sighing. "T-Thanks for that... okay... I'll lead you to the test subjects' feeding area... it's their lunchtime soon, anyways," Alphys said as she led me and MK through the corridors of the labs all the way to the bedding area and she then got some feeding bowls to place on the ground and filled them up with different types of food, namely dog treats, a water sausage, a cinnamon bunny, a crab apple, a glamburger, and three pieces of monster candy. She then dialed something on her cell phone and a tune began to play on it.
"Mew Mew Kissy Cutie... a hug for you and a kiss for me!" the tune played, it being echoed all around us and me being a bit creeped out by it as well as MK. And then, slowly but surely, the different Amalgamates began to appear...
