Hi everyone! Welcome to my 50th chapter for Fairy May Cry! This has gotta be the longest single story I've every written. Thank you all again for your constant support and praise, I never imagined I would get over 600 favorites and followers! I hope I continue to meet your expectations as my story progresses. Now without further delay, let us begin.
Sinner's Advent
The massive tower known as Temen-ni-gru could be seen for miles around as the sun had now set and night had fallen upon the land. Its massive and unsettling appearance was enough to keep virtually everyone at back, but not for a certain group of wizards currently making a bee-line straight for it.
Natsu ran as fast as he could along with Happy who flew by his side, with Lisanna and Lucy struggling to keep up behind the pair.
"Natsu! Wait up, we can't run that fast!" Lucy tried to call to him. However, she tripped onto something that caused her to fall flat on the ground.
Lisanna stopped and got down to help her. "Natsu!" The Fire Dragon Slayer turned around with Happy to see Lisanna helping Lucy up.
"You okay Lucy?" She asked.
"Yeah I'm fine…" Lucy didn't finish as she looked down to see what she tripped on. It was a certain bladed rocket launcher that belonged to a particular Devil Hunter they knew.
"Lady's rocket launcher?!" Lucy exclaimed as everyone gathered around and looked in surprise. "What the heck is this doing out here!?"
"You think Lady was here?" Happy asked.
Natsu took a few whiffs in the air. "Yeah she was here aright." He took a few more whiffs. "And she wasn't alone… Mira was here!"
"What?!" Lisanna questioned in surprise.
"A whole bunch of people were here to, but I don't recognize their scents." Natsu began. "I just…" After a few more whiffs, he looked slightly confused. "What the…?"
"Uh… Natsu?" Happy asked.
"Someone here… smells a lot like Lady." Natsu voiced in surprise.
"Smells like her?" Lucy questioned.
Lisanna also looked confused but an idea came to mind. "Wait… don't family members smell alike?"
"Yeah, Dante and Vergil smell alike, but I can tell the difference." Natsu replied. "Same with you, Mira, and Elfman."
"Does that mean that… a family member of Lady's was here to?" Lucy wondered.
"Wait… does Lady even have any family members?" Happy asked.
"Don't know." Natsu simply shrugged.
"Hey, this might be weird to ask right now, but why is her name Lady?" Lisanna asked. "Back in Edolas, her counterpart's name was Mary."
"Well, Dante said Mary was Lady's birth name but she had it changed." Happy explained. "Said something about issues with her father, but that's it."
"Maybe she's a runaway, like you Lucy." Natsu guessed.
"Somehow I doubt that." Lucy replied.
Before anyone could continue pondering they happened to hear their names being called by familiar voices.
"Natsu!"
"Lisanna!"
"Lucy!"
"Happy!"
The group turned towards a hillside where they saw Dante, along with Erza, Grey, Elfman, Modeus, Trish, Gajeel, Juvia, Wendy, Carla, and Panther-Lilly running towards them (or flying in the case of the Exceeds).
"Hey guys, guess you saw that giant tower to." Natsu noted.
"Yeah, pretty sure the whole country saw it." Dante replied.
"Lisanna!" Elfman grabbed his little sister by the shoulders. "Are you okay!? Did those Devil Hand creeps hurt you!?"
"Elfman, I'm fine. Don't worry." Lisanna told her brother.
"How'd you guys even know where to find us?" Lucy asked.
"We didn't." Grey replied. "We saw that tower, and guessed you guys were probably on your way toward it, so we went to."
"Dante! Listen, Vergil's the master of Devil Hand!" Happy told him, much to his surprise, along with everyone else. "He showed up out of nowhere and tried to grab Lisanna, but he just left!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa back up!" Dante told the Exceed. "Vergil formed his own Dark Guild?"
"Yeah, he said he its master." Lucy added.
"But wait… you said he 'tried to grab Lisanna'." Trish put in. "Did… you actually beat him back?" She voiced in confusion.
"Please, remember what happened last time." Gajeel interjected. "Even with Ice-boy and I backing him up, Salamander got the crap beaten out of him."
Natsu was about to shoot at Gajeel, but Lisanna spoke up to avoid confrontation. "Actually, he saw my Dragon Take over and… he just left."
This caused the group to look in surprise. "He left? Vergil actually left?" Dante questioned.
"What happened, exactly?" Erza questioned as well.
"Well, Vergil came by and he wanted to grab me." Lisanna began to explain. "Natsu and Lucy tried to fight him off, and so did I. But when I used my Dragon Take over, he said I wasn't of any use to him. So he beat me down and vanished. Next thing we know, that huge tower shot up from the ground."
Modeus looked with a serious expression as his eyes set upon the tower.
"Oh you also forgot about that creepy clown guy." Happy pointed out.
"Creepy clown?" Wendy questioned.
"Some annoying guy named Jester showed up." Natsu said. "He said Vergil was behind that and that's it." He growled slightly. "Don't know why but I really felt like pounding that guy into the ground!"
"Fairy Tail was attacked to." Panther-Lily stated, getting Natsu's group's attention. "The very same demons aligned with Devil Hand attacked the guildhall. But not before someone from there ranks entered and made of with both Mirajane and Lady as well."
"They got Mira?!" Lisannna questioned in shock.
"Yeah, but don't worry sis. We're gonna get her back. I promise." Elfman assured.
"Hey, we found this to!" Lucy picked up Lady's rocket-launcher, surprising Dante.
"So who's the unlucky prick that nabbed them?" Natsu questioned as he smacked his hand into his fist, ready to beat up some bad guys.
"Dude's name is Arkham. And he's Lady's father." Dante answered; causing Natsu, Lucy, Lisanna, and Happy to look beyond shocked.
"Her dad!?" Lucy questioned in shock.
"But how… when…. I don't…." Lisanna stuttered a bit. First she finds out Dante has a wicked twin brother, now Lady has an evil father?! Why can't families just come together!?
"Dante, if we're going to help we need to know the full story." Erza told him. "I understand this is personal for Lady's sake, but this can't wait any longer."
The red clad Devil Hunter sighed as he began. "Lady's birth name was Mary. Her old man, Arkham, used to be a scholar. I don't know the full details, but he used to study black arts, specifically anything demon-related. When he found out about my dad, and the power he had all those years ago, he became obsessed. He wanted that power for himself. So he sacrificed his wife, Lady's mother, in some kind of dark ritual to become a demon himself."
That took the whole group by surprise, especially Lucy. "He sacrificed his own wife to become a demon? Makes what my dad tried to do look like nothing."
"But the ritual didn't quite work out." Dante continued. "Again I don't know the full details, but he just ended up scaring himself. Though he did get some kind of dark powers, he isn't a full-fledged demon. I myself met him a few years ago when I first opened my shop, that's how I met Lady. He wanted to harvest my blood to gain my old man's power; Lady tried to hunt him down and kill him, we fought, yada, yada; and he vanished. I hadn't seen him since, till now."
It took a few moments for certain members of the current group to let this sink in. Arkham was just about as bad as Vergil, if not worse. To forsake your own family to gain power. This was inconceivable. A few of them started to feel a great deal of sympathy towards Lady now.
"It's kinda why she changed her name." Dante wrapped up. "I called her Lady when we first met. Apparently, her mother was the only one who could say her birth name."
"So Arkham and Vergil are working together, it would seem." Juvia surmised.
"Looks that way." Dante replied.
"But for what purpose, exactly?" Carla questioned. "Obviously the two of them, along with their agents in Devil Hand, have raised this tower. But what does it do?"
"It is called Temen-ni-gru." Modeus answered, getting everyone's attention. "Well over 2,000 years ago, this abomination was constructed by demonic worshipers as well as an assortment of powerful demons, including Mundus himself. This tower was what originally connected Earthland to the Demonic Realm."
"Temeni…wha?" Natsu couldn't even pronounce the name right.
"Just think big evil tower, Natsu." Grey translated in annoyed tone of voice.
"So this was what connected our worlds together?" Erza asked.
"Yes." Modeus replied. "Though I was not present at the time, Sparda told me of this tower. He said how after Mundus' defeat, him as well as Igneel…" That got Natsu's attention "and an assortment of other dragons used a complex ritual to seal it away. The first step was to confiscate the names of seven demons, each one to bear one of the seven deadly sins of man." Lucy, Lisanna, as well as Happy looked in surprise at that as he continued.
"The next was Sparda reluctantly sacrificing the blood of a mortal priestess to seal the tower underground. As a final safety measure, he took the key that could unlock the gate and split it in half. You Dante, as you are aware, bear one half…"
"And Vergil has the other." Dante held his half of the perfect amulet.
"Wait, you said the Seven Deadly Sins." Lucy spoke up.
"Yes?" Modeus nodded.
"That Jester guy Natsu mentioned, he told us that the elite in Vergil's guild are actually called the Seven Sins!" Lucy exclaimed. That got everyone's attention.
"He even said how Vergil recruited them specifically because they fit with a specific sin!" Lisanna added.
"Wait…" Wendy's eyes widened in realization. "Sheeree changed her name to Leviatha… is that a name for a sin?"
"Of course!" Modeus realized. "I should have realized it sooner. The name 'Leviatha' stems from the Leviathan, an ancient beast that once represented the Sin of Envy."
"So, Sheeree was chosen to be part of Vergil's guild because of her own envy." Carla realized, while Wendy looked in mixture of confusion of sympathy. "It would likely explain why she has Magical Drain. Envy means jealousy, a want to take something that belongs to someone else. In this case, she does so with her magic by copying others' spells."
"Envy? Is she… jealous…" Wendy recalled how much contempt the spiteful girl spoke in regards to Wendy. "Is she jealous… of me?"
"Which would likely mean that Vergil has other wizards with him, each to represent the other six sins." Erza realized.
"So that's why Vergil formed a guild." Trish said. "They were literal keys to help him unlock Temen-ni-gru!"
"Then… why would they want me?" Lisanna asked. "Or Mira? Or Angel?"
"If I had to guess, I would say that you are descendants of the priestess whom Sparda sacrificed." Modeus answered, surprising everyone, particularly Elfman and Lisanna. "The ritual as he described it to me, required the sacrifice of a virgin female; and if the tower has risen, I believe its safe to assume that not only has Devil Hand captured Mira, but perhaps Angel as well."
"And we're gonna go rescue them!" Natsu declared. "Mira and Lady are part of Fairy Tail to! And even if Angel isn't we ain't abandoning anyone to demons!"
"Got that right." Grey agreed.
"Aye sir!" Happy exclaimed.
Gajeel smirked. "Time to take out the trash."
"We need to be quick about it though." Modeus stated. "Temen-ni-gru may have been revived, but it is inactive at the moment. All Vergil needs are the two amulets to open the gate."
"So if this tower is basically one giant doorway to the Demon World, what'll happen if Vergil unlocks it?" Lucy asked.
Modeus expression became grim. "A portal will open to the Underworld, and he'll unleash countless demons upon Earthland, destroying everything they set their eyes upon."
Everyone was shocked and even horrified as they pictured it in their minds. A giant portal opening and countless demons of every shape and size pouring out of it like rain and reigning destruction and terror across the land.
"You're kidding me…" Lisanna uttered, her pupils shaky.
"That thing… that tower… is basically a doomsday weapon?!" Happy practically screamed.
"Yes." Modeus nodded grimly.
"We all knew Vergil was nuts… but this is on a whole another level!" Grey exclaimed. "He'd destroy the whole world to get more power?!"
"And used my own sister's blood to do it!" Elfman angrily punched a rock to pieces. "That bastard is gonna pay!"
"Dante, what should we do?!" Wendy asked him in almost panicking tone of voice. "If that tower fully activates…"
"We have to take down Vergil! ASAP!" Dante exclaimed, getting serious and straight to the point.
"Indeed, Devil Hand has to be stopped here and now!" Erza declared.
"Then what the hell are we waiting for, let's go!" Natsu shouted as he turned toward the massive tower.
"But everyone be careful." Trish added. "This place is probably crawling with demons, not to mention these Seven Sin guys."
Everyone nodded as the whole group ran straight for the tower, ready to do whatever it took to save their friends and the entire realm of Earthland. However, it seemed that no one in the group noticed a crow gazing upon them before it took off and flew towards the top of the demonic tower.
Meanwhile; Vergil stood at very top of the tower, close towards the edge, gazing out at the horizon. He was not alone either, each of the Seven Sins were up as well, and so were Mira, Angel, Lady, and Ultear, still bound and gagged as before. Each of the bound women could only look in surprise at what just happened. They were on top of a huge tower that just shot out of the ground and were already touching the clouds. Even Ultear was beyond words.
"Damn! Look at this! This is freaking incredible!" Mammon exclaimed in an excited tone of voice.
"Hell yeah! We're on top of the world! Literally!" Satan also shouted.
Amsoduea laughed as well while Beelzebub and Leviatha were shocked and surprised, Belphegor however continued to sat on his hovering throne still looking as bored as ever.
Iblis walked towards Vergil's side. "You must be quite proud, Master Vergil. It's not too often one accomplishes what you just did."
Vergil gave an acknowledging nod before he gazed backwards slightly towards Arkham who suddenly appeared out of nowhere, starting a few of the Seven Sins.
"Jeez don't sneak up like that!" Mammon yelled.
Arkham ignored him as he walked towards Vergil. He walked past the bound women as Mira and Angel looked at him with fear, Ultear gave a hard expression, and Lady glared hateful daggers.
Vergil acknowledged his presence as he walked and joined himself and Iblis. "Arkham."
"Well, doesn't it excite you? The Temen-ni-gru has revived! The great one, who once ruled this realm as the medium between the Human World and the Demon World! Isn't it a magnificent view?!"
"You're damn right it is!" Satan bosted as he and the other Seven Sins came up and joined them.
"I'm getting so many chills down my spine." Asmodeua lusted as she felt all over her body and even moaned slightly.
"That's a pretty big drop." Beelzebub said as he gazed downward.
"Indeed, the greatest minds of their time, those that revered evil, constructed this glorious edifice." Arkham continued.
"And now, they can be so proud…" Iblis continued as well. "For after two thousand long years of confinement, this monolith can finally be used for what it was intended…!"
"That's none of my concern." Vergil interjected. He personally didn't care what this tower was originally made for, so long as it served his only purpose. "Did he have it?"
"Of course." Arkham answered. "He's taking good care of it. After all, it is the only memento from the mother you both lost."
Vergil held the gold and red amulet. "But he is only just now aware of its true power."
The crow from before flew up in front of the group before it landed on shoulder of the ever-lazy Belphegor. It whispered a few things in his ear before fading away into a magic circle.
"Speaking of your brother, he's here now. So are other members of Fairy Tail." That got the attention of not only Devil Hand but the four female captives as well.
"Are they now?" Satan laughed sadistically. "Finally, something to kill."
"Who specifically is with them?" Leviatha asked.
"You want to know if that Wendy girl is here, and yes she is." Belphegor answered.
Leviatha growled. "Perfect."
"Well then, let us give them a proper welcome, shall we?" Iblis proposed.
"If I may." Arkham began. "I believe the best way to approach this is to divide our resources. Fairy Tail prides itself on unity, so we shall take that away from them."
"Just how are we supposed to do that?" Mammon asked
"I can change the pathways and openings on the inside of Temen-ni-gru in an attempt to separate them." Arkham answered. "However, I believe the true incentive to divide is with the proper bait." He gazed behind him to their four captives, who would make the perfect lures for their enemies.
Asmoduea licked her lips. "I like the sound of that."
"I'll guard Mirajane Strauss." Beelzebub said as he walked towards her, surprising a few of this fellow guild members.
"Who made you boss?" Satan questioned.
"She is a take over user like myself." Beelzebub answered as he picked up Mira and carried her bridal style, surprising for the young boy's small stature. "If she gets loose, I can handle her. Plus anything I have is probably better than being part of your 'collection' Asmodeua."
The aforementioned dominatrix pouted. "Spoil sport." She walked over towards the remaining three hostages. "Well if we get to choose one, then I'll pick our lovely Angel."
The white-haired former celestial wizard tried to scurry away, but Asmodeua was already over her. Angel whimpered as the woman picked her up and looked into her eyes with a lustful expression, causing Angel to look even more frightened.
"Dibs on the dark lady!" Mammon ran over toward an annoyed Ultear and threw her over his shoulder.
Satan looked towards Lady. "Remind me again why we needed her?" He gestured his thumb towards her.
"I have a personal matter with this particular woman." Arkham said as he slowly walked towards Lady who would have ripped him apart with her bare hands if she weren't bound in webbing. Vergil gave a suspicious look towards him.
"Leviatha, I will need you to come with me." Arkham told her.
"What? Why?" She questioned irritably.
"Should any members of Fairy Tail attempt to rescue her while I proceed with my… experiment, I will need someone to protect me. Your Magical Drain should more than suffice." He answered.
She crossed her arms. "Fine."
"I suppose the rest of us will just wait for Fairy Tail?" Belphegor guessed.
"I hope they hurry. I really… really…" Satan urged.
"Wanna kill someone, we know, we got it the first thousand times." Leviatha rolled her eyes.
"Then, let us not keep our guests waiting." Iblis said as she and her cohorts began to walk away, though when she gazed behind she was surprised to find Vergil still in the same sport. "You're not coming with us, Master Vergil?"
"No, my brother will be here soon." He responded. "Our reunion is overdue."
Iblis smiled. "Very well, we shall be sure to give the rest of his comrades a proper welcome."
With that, everyone had left the roof with their prisoners, leaving only Vergil as he gazed out towards the night sky where a series of storm clouds were gathering. He could already hear the thunder.
There was a firey explosion from the wall as Natsu was the first to leap directly into the inner most chambers of Temen-ni-gru with Dante and everyone else close behind. The group was in a large chamber with a dual set of stairs on both sides leading up towards some demonic statue at the top of the first flight of stairs before they diverged along the walls and led directly upward towards a seemingly endless dark void all the way to the top.
"Alright you Devil Hand creeps! Show yourselves so I can beat the crap out of you!" Natsu shouted, despite the fact that there was virtually no one inside, not yet anyway.
While most of the group maintained serious expressions, Wendy couldn't help but feel quite nervous. "This is Temen-ni-gru?"
"It is." Modeus confirmed.
"So, where are all the demons?" Lucy nervously asked.
"Probably hiding around her somewhere." Dante said as he kept his hands on Ebony and Ivory.
Gajeel took quite a few whiffs. "Oh yeah they're here alright. This whole place smells like all kinds of crap."
"Can you tell where they are?" Lily asked.
"No." Gajeel shook his head. "This place is so old my nose can't make sense of what's up or down."
"Well whatever the case, its best we stay together." Erza instructed the group. "No one wonders alone."
"Yeah, that's probably a good idea." Trish agreed.
"Lisanna, stay close to me, alright?" Elfman told his sister.
"Okay." She nodded.
"We should just find our friends and hurry up, this place is really giving me the creeps." Happy shivered. "It feels like a haunted house on steroids."
As the group tried to stick close to one another, they all failed to notice that the statue at the top of the first flight of stairs actually opened its eyes and gazed directly at them.
Arkham could see all the members of Fariy Tail through a dark crystal ball, his own features remaining unchanged. He held his book in one hand as he slowly raised the palm in his other hand and opened it toward the crystal ball where a dark magic circle formed, his red and blue eyes glowing in the process.
The statue's eyes turned and red and blue, but that wasn't what caught the group's attention. No, what caught their attention was the sound of stone grinding against stone, almost like a factory made of rock instead of metal.
"What's that sound?" Lisanna asked.
"Everyone get ready!" Erza ordered as she pulled out a sword via her magenta magic circle. Everyone followed her lead as they either drew their weapons or made combat stances; those that were a bit more nervous drew in closer.
They eventually discovered the source of the sounds, as it appeared the entire chamber was shifting. Pillars rose and fell, more staircases revealed themselves, however that wasn't all that was moving.
"Hey guys I…" Natsu held his stomach. "I don't feel so good…" Most looked in surprise at what was happening: the floor below them was moving! It began to spin around and slowly pick up speed.
"The floor is moving! Everyone hang onto something!" Dante exclaimed as he drove Rebellion into the floor; Erza, Trish, and Modeus followed suit with their respective swords, even Grey did so with a large pick of ice he just created, Gajeel drove an iron-pillar into the ground, and Elfman's arm became more beast-like as he held onto the floor.
The floor continued to spin at a rapid pace that seemed impossible for one being so ancient and made completely from stone. Those that didn't hold on began to loose their footing. Lisanna almost lost hers, but she quickly turned into her She-Cat take over and dug her claws into the ground. Lucy however lost her footing and was ready to go flying, but Lisanna caught her hand. Grey caught Juvia who was almost sent flying as well. Wendy clung to Erza, and Carla clung onto the edge of the younger girl's dress. Natsu's cheeks bulged, his motion sickness kicking in and almost went flying, fortunately Gajeel happened to catch him by the back of his jacket.
"Don't you even think about puking on me, Salamander!" He exclaimed as Lily held onto his shoulder.
Happy screamed as he tried to hold onto Dante's coat, but he wasn't the only one. Pretty much everyone was screaming or yelling as the floor spun almost like a top. As it continued to spin, it slowly began to crack. The cracks grew longer and larger as dark red energy formed underneath. It continued to grow until finally it exploded.
In a spectacular fashion of red light; the massive group had been blown away and separated. Natsu, Gajeel, and Elfman fell down into the pit that formed after the floor gave way, with Lily flying down after them. Dante and Happy were sent flying east ward to an open door, which closed right behind them; with Grey and Juvia on the other side of the chamber to an open door that also closed directly behind them. Lucy and Lisanna were sent flying directly upward, but Lisanna had transformed into her harpy form and was able to catch Lucy by her shoulders and steady themselves; but they could only watch as Modeus and Trish were sent flying upwards towards two separate openings, which closed behind them, along with the same thing with Erza, Wendy, and Carla as they flew upwards and toward a wall which opened and closed behind them as well.
"What the hell just happened?!" Lucy screamed.
"We just lost everyone in our group!" Lisanna exclaimed in an equal amount of shock.
"This is crazy…. Is this tower really haunted?" Lucy questioned in fear.
"Either that or Vergil and that Arkham guy are trying to separate us. It's a total divide and conquer!" Lisanna realized.
"You're right!" Lucy realized as well. "Come on, there's a big hole in the floor, maybe we can follow Natsu, Gajeel, and Elfman and find a way to regroup from there."
"Yeah, good idea." Lisanna was about to fly down when suddenly a red blur shot past them, along with several more, forcing Lisanna to fly upwards with Lucy as they both looked down to see a large flock of red demonic birds with glowing green eyes gathering around them.
"What are those things?!" Lucy questioned.
"My guess; some kind of demon bird." Lisanna replied as the flock of demonic birds cawed at them and shot quickly toward the two girls. "Hang on tight Lucy!" She stated as she flew straight up while the birds gave chase, with Lucy screaming the whole way.
There was a large assortment of rubble at the bottom of the pit, when it suddenly exploded in a fury of fire as a roaring Natsu shot up.
"Alright! Who's the bastard who tore up the floor!? Huh?!" He looked around ready to punch someone.
Gajeel groaned along with Elfman as they got up from the rubble. "The hell was that?" The Iron Dragon Slayer questioned.
"A very effective strategy." Lily said as he hovered to the group with the trio looking at him.
"What do you mean strategy?" Gajeel questioned.
"Whenever a large force of your enemy approaches you, the best way to handle it is to divide it into smaller groups, making them easier to take out." Panther-lily explained. "If this Vergil-character is responsible, I may have to give him credit. Strategically thinking it was actually a brilliant move."
"You ask me it was just another cheap shot." Elfman stated as he dusted himself off. "A real man would face his opponents head on."
"Just where are we anyway?" Natsu asked as the group looked around. They were in a massive chamber that seemed to be built around a massive lake.
"Some form of subterranean lake, perhaps." Lily presumed.
"Can you fly us all back up? We need to get to the others." Elfman asked the black Exceed.
"Maybe one at a time, but there's no telling what's going to happen in the meantime if I do." Lily answered. "This tower seems to change and shift, perhaps Vergil or this Arkham are responsible, or it could be acting on its own. Either way, we still little-to-nothing about this place, so perhaps it would be best for us to treed lightly."
"We ain't got time to watch were we step!" Natsu exclaimed. "Vergil's here somewhere and he needs a beatdown!"
"Someone's eager to get this show on the road!" A new voice echoed throughout the chamber. It was very pitchy that most of the group didn't seem to recognize.
"Who the hell was that?" Gajeel questioned.
Natsu however growled. "It's that Jester-guy!"
"So little Dragon Boy brought his pals to the party hmm?" Jester's voice continued to echo as Natsu, Elfman, Gajeel, and Panther-Lilly looked around to find the source. "Well might I be the first to say 'Welcome to Hell!' Please accept my gift, don't be humble, just take it! After all, were buddies aren't we?" He asked as he gave his deranged laugh once more.
As he continued to laugh, several new beings began to make their appearance as they either crawled down from the walls around them or emerged from the massive lake. Though there were several it appeared to be two different types of creatures. Most of them bore similar appearances to the Hell Vanguards, only they appeared to be wearing a brownish-green hooded robe with pale skin and red eyes, while wielding double-bladed staffs, some appeared to have sand oozing out of their mouths like drool. The others didn't wear robes at all, but had humanoid appearances and had leather straps all over their grey-skinned bodies with leather masks and glowing red eyes; but the most unique feature about them, as that each appeared to be carrying a massive glowing red object on their backs.
"Looks we got ourselves from demons." Gajeel said with a smirk. "You guys ready to crack some skulls?" He asked his comrades as he cracked his knuckles.
"Oh I was born ready." Natsu stated as fire lit on both his fists while Elfman also took a combat stance.
"Well then…." Lily's body began to glow before his whole physical body grew in size, till he bore his huge muscular form that he had while living in Edolas. "…What are we waiting for?"
All four of them gave manly yells as they charged toward the moaning demons.
Dante groaned as he and Happy tried to get up. "What just happened? I'm getting dizzy…" Happy moaned as he had swirls in his eyes.
As Happy tried to clear his sense, Dante had already stood up and looked around. They were back outside! They stood on a balcony that was only about three stories or so off the ground.
"Oh you've gotta be kidding me." The Devil Hunter smacked his palm against his forehead.
"What the… how'd we get back outside?!" Happy questioned.
"Tower's probably booby trapped." Dante sighed. "Just perfect."
"Well how can we get back inside?" Happy asked.
"Hang on, I'll blast our way in." Dante pulled out Ebony and Ivory ready to shoot a hole through the wall until…
"Yoo-hoo!"
Jester suddenly appeared behind Dante, mildly surprising him, but startling the blue Exceed a great deal.
"Whoa! It's that Jester guy again!"
Said Jester appeared to ignore the shocked humanoid cat. "There's no need to use violence Devil Boy." Dante was about to shoot anyway, but Jester scurried in front of him. "Wait, wait, wait. Better listen to what others say, lad."
Dante sighed as he lowered his guns and Happy actually hid behind Dante's leg. He didn't know why, but something about Jester frightened Happy quite a bit.
"This tower here is very sturdy." Jester banged his cane on the wall for emphasis. "You see? Your tricks will do no good. No good!" Right as he zoomed his face towards Dante, he pointed Ivory right at his nose.
"Zip it, or I'll pierce that big nose."
"I don't like nose rings all that much." Jester joked as he swerved to Dante's side. "Just you and your little kitty cat hear me out. You've got nothing to loose, right?"
"Dante, I don't know if you should listen to him. This guy really doesn't feel right." Happy told him.
"Awe, but I thought we were friends little Happy." Jester said in a fake hurt tone. "After helping you and Dragon Boy and his two girly friends get here, right?"
Suddenly Dante began to shoot at Jester's feet, forcing him to 'dance' around the bullets.
"Get to the point, clown. Or do you wanna keep on dancing?" Dante told him as he continued to shoot while Jester continued to 'dance'.
"La, da, da, da, la, la, da!" Jester sung until Dante stopped and he began to catch his breath and wave his cane near his face like a fan.
"Well as it turns out, your big brother is here. Right at the tippy top of this tower." Jester pointed upward, with Dante and Happy looking up as well. "That being said, maybe it's a good thing you got outside. While all your friends are stuck roaming through that maze inside, you got a straight shot upward. Literally, considering you also got a flying little cat with you to!" Jester hopped up a bit and landed on the wall, actually standing vertically on the wall. "And big brother is waiting for you… wouldn't want to delay your family reunion, now would you?"
Jester laughed again, only for Dante to shoot at his feet once more with Ebony causing the Jester to 'dance' around the bullets again. "Da, da, da, la! La, da, da, da la!" He sung as he danced around the corner of the tower before vanishing.
"I see. Thanks." Dante said before scoffing. "You still piss me off though."
Happy shivered. "I don't know what it is, but something about him feels very wrong."
Dante felt the same sort of thing, and yet at the same time, Jester somehow felt a bit familiar. Which was odd, because Dante would have definitely remembered meeting someone like that before. He could dwell on that later, he had some catching up to do with his brother.
"Come on Happy, I could use some help getting up there."
This caused the young Exceed to look with surprise and concern. "Dante… you… but this is Vergil were talking about."
"Yeah, I know."
"But… he's just so strong and… the last time you fought him he…" Happy stuttered. "I actually think he's stronger than you."
Dante sighed a bit before looking toward Happy with a content smile. "Hey, I'm a lot stronger now than I was back then, you know it. So come on, have a little faith in me. After all, I got faith in the rest of our friends to, that's what Fairy Tail's all about right?"
Happy's look of concern faded before a look of deterimination formed on his face as he sprouted his wings. "Aye sir!"
"So come on." Dante said as Happy grabbed his back and the two took off at high speeds. "Let's go show Vergil what happens when you mess with our family!"
"Aye sir!" Happy repeated as the two shot straight up toward the top of Temen-ni-gru.
Trish walked along through a hallway, which also happened to have an open view outside of the tower. She sighed, as she appeared to be alone.
"Don't get separated she said." Trish shook her head. "Is it too much to ask for things to be a little simple around here?"
She found a large door along the wall, which she was quick to open. Upon entering she found herself in a rather large chamber with a steel gate at the other end. However what was most surprising was that she wasn't the only one here. Instead, someone else appeared to be waiting; a man sitting in a hovering throne with a bored expression permanently glued to his face.
"Well, well, looks like I finally got some company." He drooled. "How fantastic."
Trish pulled out both her pistols and aimed them directly at them. "And just who are you, buddy?"
He sighed. "If you must know, I am called Belphegor. Vergil, for some reason, appointed me as one of the Seven Sins in his guild. Take a guess what sin I represent."
"Sloth?" Trish guessed, to which Belphegor nodded. "So what? You too lazy to fight me and are just gonna let me pass?"
"Do I look like I'm gonna be fighting anyone any time soon?" Belphegor asked. "But I'm supposed to make sure you, and any other Fairy Tail folks that come by here die. I'm not gonna look for them, cause they'll probably come to me like you just did."
"Well, if you're not gonna do anything than this should be easy." Trish was about to shoot him, when she spotted a glimmer out of the corner of her eye and just barley dodged a scythe strike from a rather odd-looking demon. It appeared to be drapped in a torn grey cloak with a blindfold over its eyes with dark black skin as it carried its scythe.
"Sorry, not easy for you." Belphegor said. "I'm not gonna fight you, too much of a bother. But I've got my many minions to do that for me." He held out his hand where a dark blue magic circle formed in his palm. On the ground, two larger magic circles appeared on both sides of the demon Trish was facing and two identical demons rose up in its place. "Now see if you can entertain me." He rolled his hand, motioning for his minions to attack.
Trish drew her Sparda sword and charged it with electricity as the three demons leapt towards her with their scythes glimmering in the light.
Done. I apologize if this chapter seems somewhat short. But anyway the final war between Fairy Tail and Devil Hand has begun. The group has been separated, Trish is the first to confront one of the Seven Sins, Belphegor, but just because he represents the laziest of the seven deadly sins, doesn't mean it's gonna be an easy fight for her. And Dante is on his way to have a rematch with his brother Vergil.
(We have also seen some minions from the DMC3 game, certain members of the Seven Hells of the Demon Army: Natsu and his group are face-to-face with Hell Wraths and Hell Gluttonys, while Belphegor has summoned Hell Sloths to do his dirty work against Trish)
Oh, just a bit of a short note. It has been a while since I've played Devil May Cry 3, so I don't have too much of an extensive knowledge on the interior of Temen-ni-gru, just what I can find on the wikia. And on another note, I know the Devil May Cry games are usually set up so the player has to solve certan puzzles in order to move forward, but that's not Fairy Tail's style; no, they'd rather smash their way through those puzzles to get to where they need to go. And that is what's gonna happen, a few of them may solve puzzles at certain points, but othewise, its just gonna be a lot of fighting.
What will happen next? Find out next time on Fairy May Cry.
