Hi everyone. Thanks again for waiting, the battles have begun within the dreaded tower of Temen-ni-gru. Can Dante and the rest of his Fairy Tail friends stop Vergil and Arkham's plans before they come into fruition? Find out right now!
Brotherly Rivals Evermore!
Rain had fallen from the darkened clouds in the night sky as Happy finally arrived at the top of the evil tower known as Temen-ni-gru, he set Dante down on path that would wind its way up to the very top before the blue Exceed's wings faded and he plumped to the ground in exhaustion.
"We…finally…made it… sir…" He said in-between breaths.
"You doing okay fur ball?" Dante asked.
"Yeah I just…. Never flown so high before…" Happy continued to say in exhaustion. "Plus… you're a lot… heavier than Natsu…"
Dante smirked a bit before looking up the path. "Stay here, I'll be back."
"Hey Dante…" He turned back to Happy as the exhausted Exceed gave an encouraging smile. "Kick his butt."
The red-clad Devil Hunter smirked and nodded before running up the path through the rain pelting his face, he came to a small set of stairs that led him up to the very top, where he saw his brother waiting with his back turn. He got a sense of déjà vu as he met Vergil the same sort of way before shortly after joining Fairy Tail.
"Yo bro! You miss me?!" Dante called to him, causing Vergil to turn toward him.
"Hello Dante, it's been quite some time." Vergil said in his usual cold demeanor.
Dante, though serious of the situation, maintained his joking expression. "You just can't stay out of trouble can ya? First you try to kidnap and kill my friends, now you formed your own Dark Guild to raise some overgrown haunted house and destroy all humanity."
"My goal is not humanity's destruction." Vergil said. "I do not seek their annihilation nor will I protect them; if they die, then so be it."
Dante's smile vanished. "Still after our old man's power."
"Of course, I told you before, might controls everything." Vergil stated. "The only reason your guild even exists is because of its power. They continue to speak of friendships and the bonds they share, but that is all pointless."
The youngest twin sighed as he shook his head. "There's just no getting through to you, is there?" He pulled out Rebellion before twirling around the massive blade and pointing it at him. "So what do you say Vergil? Up for a rematch."
"You even need to ask?" He flicked Yamato with just his fingers.
Several demons were blasted away in a massive ball of fire as Natsu shot through the smoke and landed a punch onto the face of a Hell Gluttony to send it flying across the subterranean lake and into a group of Hell Wraths; resulting in their organic bombs exploding in dramatic fashion.
"Iron Dragon Club!" Gajeel sent a long and extending pole that impacted a Hell Wrath and sent it to the ceiling where it exploded as well. He was quickly forced back by a Hell Gluttony that spat demonic sand at him; but he regained his footing and yelled as he shot at the demon with a punch that knocked its head clean off.
"Beast Arm: Iron Bull!" Elfman's right arm transformed into a large metallic arm which he used to punch into the ground, creating a crater to stagger back the group of Hell Wraths and Hell Gluttonys surrounding him before he went on the offensive and delivered a swerving punch to knock them all back. However this proved to be a mistake as the Hell Wraths bombs detonated, the explosion sent Elfman flying into the water from the lake.
Lily flew through the air carrying a Hell Wrath by its feet and used the demon as a make-shift grenade as he threw him at another group of Hell Wraths and Hell Gluttonys, sending them exploding in a flurry of flame.
"Nice one buddy!" Gajeel shot him a thumbs up, to which Panther-Lily nodded with a smile.
"I do believe that is all of them." The black Exceed's body began to glow until he transformed back into his smaller form when he began to hear some form of sucking sound. "Wait, what's that?"
The massive cluster of fire from the explosion he made began to shrink down considerably to reveal Natsu practically inhaling the flames until they were all gone.
To say Panther-Lily was surprised would be an understatement. "Did he just swallow those flames?"
"Yeah you get used to it." Gajeel said to him.
Natsu gagged a bit as he spat and rubbed his mouth. "Aw man, that fire tasted like crap." He turned to the other side of the chamber towards his comrades. "Hey, you guys doing okay?"
"Yeah were fine!" Elfman called out as Lily pulled him out of the water and they all regrouped along the northern end of the subterranean lake.
"Okay now that's outta the way, we gotta find everyone else." Natsu stated.
"Do you even have a clue where everyone is?" Gajeel questioned.
"I don't see you coming up with anything." Natsu shot to him, however before the two could even start their usual spats, Elfman broke them up.
"Guys that's enough! You wanna act like a bunch of kids and fight, or you wanna man up and save all our friends?!" He questioned, causing the two to look away with crossed arms and comic scowls.
"He's right." Lily agreed as he hovered beside them. "Our first step should be to asses our current position so that we can locate the others. But before…"
"Yoo-hoo!"
The group turned around and looked in surprise to see Jester sitting on a lawn-chair and eating a bowl of popcorn. "Gotta say that was quite the show you guys put on! And the excitiment's really gonna kick up from this point!"
"You again?!" Natsu quickly grabbed Jester by his shirt and shoved him to the wall.
"This the clown guy you told us about?" Gajeel questioned.
"Yeah this the guy." Natsu growled as he didn't take his eyes off Jester for a second.
"Now-now dragon boy, I thought we already covered the topic that the term 'clown' is quite offensive." Jester said before he somehow slipped out of Natsu's grip and danced around him to meet everyone else. "So, did all you little fairies enjoy your little warm up? You ready for an encore?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Elfman questioned.
"You guys got two options!" Jester said as he illustrated the number two with his fingers, by shoving them into Elfman's face before tap dancing back a bit, he then pointed east.
"That way lies one of Vergil's Seven Sins, who is just eager to put the hurt on some goody-to-shoes." He then pointed west with his cane. "The other way likes another of the Sinners, who just so happens to be guarding the most ravishing Miss Mirajane."
"Mira." Elfman said as his eyes widened in surprise with everyone else.
"So you can all go in one direction or you can split up, but you better make up your minds, cause Vergil's almost got what he wants." Jester advised as he laughed before back flipping and diving into the lake, vanishing deep into the water.
"That was…. Strange…" Lily didn't really know how to describe it.
"More like annoying." Natsu muttered. "Still don't like that guy."
"Why in the hell was he helping us… I mean just who was that clown?" Gajeel questioned.
"Who cares!?" Elfman exclaimed. "We can worry about that later! My sister needs us!"
"He's right." Lily agreed.
"So which way we gonna go?" Natsu asked.
"I'll rescue Mira, the rest of you go the other way." Elfman stated as he pointed in the other direction.
"By yourself?!" Natsu questioned.
"Are you out of your mind?!" Gajeel questioned as well. "This is Vergil we're talking about! The guy probably got some heavy hitters to be part of his crazy guild!"
"I don't care, I'm going and none of you are coming with me!" Elfman insisted.
"Elfman, I can understand what we can gain by dividing our resources, but if its only just you…" Lily tried to explain.
"Please just… just let it be me, alright?!" Elfman exclaimed before sighing. He turned away from the group so they couldn't see the sorrowful look on his face. "I failed…. I… I failed to save Lisanna…"
Natsu's eyes widened in surprise before it turned serious. He was talking about the day that she 'died'. It hurt all of them, Natsu and Mira especially, but he knew just how much Elfman blamed himself for that.
"She's back now and I get that…" Elfman continued as he stuttered. "But I… I just couldn't protect her. A real man's gotta protect his family right? I couldn't protect… I couldn't protect Lisanna! So please…" He turned around to show the surprised group that tears were filled in his eyes. "Let me protect Mira!"
Gajeel and Panther-Lily were quite surprised. However, Natsu's look was one of understanding, as he knew exactly what it was like. So with a content look, he nodded. "Alright, go."
Elfman's teary-eyes widened slightly as Natsu spoke in a rare serious tone of voice. "I get it Elfman, I really do. Go and get Mira back safe, the rest of us can handle the other guy."
The only brother in the Strauss siblings wiped his face as he smiled. "Thanks Natsu."
Natsu smirked in response. "Now go kick some demon ass, like a real man should."
Elfman chuckled as he nodded before running in the direction that Jester pointed where Mira would be.
"Natsu are you sure about this?" Lily asked him.
"Yeah, he'll be fine."
Gajeel seemed to be in agreement. "Guy's got a lot of guts, I'll give em that much."
Natsu then turned the other way. "Come on Metalhead, I'll race ya! First one there gets first dibs!" He burst into a dash as he ran into the other direction that Jester showed them.
"Not if I get there first Flame-brain!" Gajeel ran after him while Lily simply smiled and shook his head before following them.
Trish had shot electric bullets from both her guns at a pair of Hell Sloths, causing them to go up in an electric blast before limboing under the strike of a third one where she delivered a cartwheel kick, charged with lightning, to its face to completely blow up its head. Three more tied to charge at her from behind but she jumped over them and landed on the left wall before pulling out her Sparda sword and jumping horizontally from the wall with the blade and with one slice, had cleanly cut all three of them in half.
She got on her feet to look towards Belphegor who remained as bored as ever. "What?" Trish shrugged.
"Did I say anything?" Belphegor questioned.
"You don't sound all that disappointed." Trish stated. "I already killed off about a dozen of your own guys."
"I don't really care." Belphegor said. "See there really is no point to it, there really is no point to everything. So there's a war between two guilds going on in a giant demon tower. Wooo." He waved his finger sarcastically. "I'm over it."
Trish rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Wow, Vergil didn't do himself any favors picking an emo like you."
Belphegor sighed. "What do you expect from someone who's supposed to represent Sloth?"
"Then just sit back as I put a bullet in your head!" Trish shot an electric bullet towards Sloth, but he was already quick enough to summon a new type of minion.
"Dread Knights!" A knight, the same type that had previously attacked Lady upon her abduction, had materialized right in front of Belphegor and used its sword to block the bullet; several more rose from the ground, each one bearing a sword.
Trish was beginning to get quite annoyed as she drew her Sparda sword and lunged at her newfound enemy.
Clashes of metal echoed along with the thunder throughout the storm just above the top of Temen-ni-gru. Dante and Vergil continued to parry Rebellion and Yamato respectively; while the two stood in one spot, it was if the space between them was nothing more several flashes of light. Dante and Vergil slid past each other, blood dripping from their swords, their wounds healing rather quickly. Vergil swung a vertical arc at Dante, sending a wave his way, which he rolled to avoid as it sliced a statue clean in half.
Once Dante stood back up he immediately flashed Ebony and shot at his brother, who responded by spinning his blade at a rapid pace so that when the bullets hit they were reduced to dust in less than a single second. Realizing this wasn't getting him anywhere Dante took a different approach.
"Cerberus!" Dante spun his three-pronged nunchuck at the same sort of speed Vergil just did to send a strong icy wind toward his elder brother; Vergil held his ground as the icy wind was powerful enough to blow a normal person away, but it wasn't the wind that he had to worry about. Frost was starting to form around Vergil and he was starting to get annoyed by it.
"Darkslayer!" With Yamato glowing a dark color, Vergil flashed it at Dante. Before the younger brother even realized it, Vergil had appeared behind him and impaled him from behind. Despite the blade piercing into his back and out his chest, Dante gave a strained chuckle.
"Didn't know you we're the backstabbing type." Dante strained, blood coming down from his smiling mouth.
"Though your jokes remain annoying, your skills have improved." Vergil noted.
"Yeah a lot's happened since our last spat. Check this out. Quicksilver!" Dante vanished in a flash as his body glowed with a cyan color. Before Vergil could even react he felt a strong force press against his chest as Dante slammed the flat-end of Rebellion to send him flying towards a statue, shattering it upon impact.
Still using Quicksilver, Dante appeared behind Vergil and gave a powerful roundhouse kick to send him soaring to the other edge, where Dante zoomed to on the other end and repeated the process. Vergil was kicked, punched, and batted all across the roof. However this wouldn't last much longer as Vergil had more than a few tricks up his sleeve.
"Beowulf!" Vergil halted his movement as he drove his grieves into the ground and delivered a powerful punch to intercept Dante, still using Quicksliver, who was just barley able to block it with the flat part of Rebellion, the shockwave blowing past Dante and destroying a statue behind him. This however left Dante open as Vergil gave an uppercut to send Dante flying straight upward. Vergil leapt after him.
Dante had been sent flying directly into the storm clouds, where he got a rather interesting idea as the lightning flashed around him. "Nevan!" He pulled out his electric scythe and used it as a sort of lightning rod to attract all the lightning nearby as it surged toward him, enhancing the scythe's power dramatically. As Dante began to fall, he saw the jumping Vergil heading right towards him. Dante smirked as he swung the scythe and sent a massive wave of purple lightning, charged by all the electricity he gathered from around him.
Vergil's eyes widened, as he could not dodge this. The blast encompassed Vergil, electrocuting him and sending him hurtling back down to the rooftop of the tower with flashy and explosive results. Vergil laid flat on the ground for only a few seconds before he quickly rolled out of the way as Dante delivered an electric scythe strike onto the ground.
"Summoned Swords!" Vergil sent a hail of phantom swords straight at Dante, which he tried to block by pulling out Rebellion and slicing at them repeatedly; however as this kept him distracted, Vergil zoomed in past his illusion blades and right to Dante where he delivered a powerful slash to knock him off balance; that combined with being hit by the remaining phantom swords actually sent Dante off the roof.
He didn't even fall a few inches however as a flash of light zoomed past and intercepted him. Vergil looked with a raised eyebrow as he gazed upward to find Dante being supported by a certain flying blue cat.
"Nice timing Happy." Dante told him.
"No problem." Said blue Exceed replied with a smile.
Vergil was not impressed. "I'm surprised that you have to rely on such a weak creature for assistance, brother."
"Well he's dependable, which is more than I can say for you, bro!" Dante taunted.
"Aye, you tell em Dante!"
"Dependable?" Vergil questioned. "If you cannot depend on yourself than how can you call yourself strong?"
"Oh boy, here we go again." Happy rolled his eyes. "You know power isn't the only thing that matters!" The blue Exceed sat Dante down on the ground as Happy began to lecture Vergil. "You ask me, you're just a big bully! This is just like how it was in Edolas, those who think power is what makes the world go round and will do anything to get it, even if it involves hurting innocent people! Sparda and the Dragons worked hard to seal away this tower, and here you are trying to undo all their hard work and hurting the entire world in the process! I may not have known Sparda but if he could see you right now he'd be ashamed of you! Even Sparda thought Earthland and all its people were worth protecting and me, Dante, Natsu, Erza, and everyone in our guild thinks the same way! Fairy Tail will never loose to someone like you, not by a long shot!"
Though Dante was impressed Happy had the balls to stand up and tell off Vergil, he was also greatly worried for him. If he wanted, Vergil could slice Happy in half without even thinking, but there was no way he was going to let that happen.
However Vergil didn't really look all that annoyed, honestly he looked almost bored. "Are you finished?" Happy's eyes widened once Vergil said that. "You think power isn't essential? Perhaps you need a reminder of just how wrong you truly are."
Vergil closed his eyes as a whirlwind picked up around him, blowing his coat for a dramatic effect. A dark blue aura shined around his body as it began to glow brighter and brighter until there was a dark blue flash, forcing Dante and Happy to shield their eyes. When the light faded, they could see that Vergil's physical form had given way to something far more horrifying: his own Devil Trigger.
The moment Happy saw his dark blue eyes as well as the demonic form of the eldest son of Sparda, he fell flat on his rear as his pupils shook with tears of fear ready to pour from his eyes as his whole body shook.
"I… I… forgot just how… terrifying he was…" The frightened Happy stuttered aloud.
"Happy… you're gonna want to clear out." Dante said as he stepped up, his face showing just how serious he truly was. "It's gonna get ugly up here."
A whirlwind began to pick up around Dante as well as his body was encompassed by a dark red glow, much like Vergil. Happy shielded his eyes as Dante let loose a powerful yell as an explosion of dark red energy shined around Dante before he fully revealed himself in his own Devil Trigger form. Happy could only look in shock; though he had seen Dante in his Devil Trigger before, it was still an amazing sight to see, but when Dante transformed Happy knew just how serious he was.
"Go." Dante spoke in his demonic voice, holding the black-bladed Rebellion in his claws, not taking his eyes off his stoic and demonic brother. "Unless you wanna get diced up."
Happy got a serious look as he stood back up. "Aye sir, you got this." He sprouted his wings and flew back down. Though he didn't fly very far as he flew down the path that curved around the side of the tower and toward a large door that led inside. Though he maintained something of a safe distance he wasn't about to leave his friend.
"You've had your Devil Trigger for quite some time, but are still relatively new to its power." Vergil told Dante. "Let us see just how well you can utilize it."
"Ready whenever you are." Dante waved his right claw in a gesture to 'bring it on' before both of them surged at each other in blinding speeds, clashing their blades and igniting a bright and powerful explosion between them.
Lady was strapped on a large stone table in the middle of a large tomb-like chamber filled with coffins and candles. Though the webbing had been removed from her body, belt-like straps had kept her pinned to the table by her wrists and ankles. Though the same web that covered her mouth remained there to keep her silent. She had since regained her feeling in her body and had been struggling to get out.
"Oh my dear child, still such fire within you."
She looked toward the side to see Arkham approaching her, with Leviatha sitting on a nearby coffin. He walked toward her and all she could do was glare at him. If it weren't for these bindings she would gorge his empty eyes out with her own fingers.
"You are very much your mother's daughter; though I can also sense some of Fairy Tail's influence in you as well." Arkham said as he stood above her and looked down on her almost disapprovingly. "A part of me had hoped you would embrace the darkness within, but instead you choose the light. The work of the Fairies no doubt. Perhaps this may change things." He reached into his book and pulled out what appeared to be a glowing lacrima, which was about the size of a cheery, though it appeared to be glowing a dark silver-like color.
He slowly placed the lacrima onto her body, where her heart would be, and she struggled in vain to try and stop him. "With this, perhaps a Devil's influence can guide you on a more subtle path and in return, it shall grant you power unlike anything you have ever known."
The lacrima actually sunk into Lady's body as she moaned in pain through her web-gag as she felt it enter her heart and break apart into energy that began to flow through her veins. Her veins glowed a dark silver color as did her eyes before the light faded and she lost consciousness.
"Why bother doing this for her?" Leviatha questioned as Arkham turned his gaze towards her. "It's not like she's really gonna live long."
"Call it an experiment." Arkham replied as he slowly and menacingly walked away from his unconscious daughter. "Wait here, Fairy Tail shall arrive shortly."
"I don't care about them! What I want to know, is will she be here?!" Leviatha questioned in annoyance and eagerness.
"Young Wendy Marvell? More than likely." Arkham replied. "Dragon Slayers have heightened senses, so once she picks up your sent it will only be a matter of time till she comes to you. After all, you share quite the history with her, don't you?"
Leviatha scowled at Arkham, though she was pleased with his response. Finally she will have her revenge on that girl for what she did. A part of her hoped some of her friends would show up, just so she can torment them in front of Wendy.
"Wait here, the hour of judgment approaches." Arkham said as he left the room, leaving Leviatha alone with the unconscious Lady. The younger and more spiteful girl looked at the older woman's form and noticed the black Fairy Tail emblem on Lady's leg. She scowled at that symbol and made a silent vow to burn off the one that Wendy had on her shoulder, as painfully as possible.
Elfman had been running for quite sometime through this irritating maze. Seriously just how could so many chambers fill in this stinking tower?! But he didn't have time to complain, his sister needed him and he wasn't gonna give up until he found her and they and all their friends got home safe and sound.
Finally after a long while of running, Elfman entered a large chamber that one could describe as an 'altar of evil'. Several statues hung everywhere, with the entire chamber being supported by two pillars, which appeared to be decorated by stone faces. But what caught his attention wasn't the decorations of this horrid place, no it was someone being held in the hands of a headless stone statue at the end of the chamber.
"Mira!" Elfman called to his sister, who was still tied and gagged as before, with the anti-magic collar still adorned around her neck.
"Efmmmn!" Mira muffled through her gag.
"Don't worry, I'm gonna get you down!" However before Elfman could even make a move, he heard some light footsteps heading in his direction as he turned to the side to see the young Beelzebub walking his way.
"What the…?" Elfman was quite surprised by the presence of the young boy who stood in front of him; he didn't really look all that much older than Wendy.
"So, looks like you and I are gonna fight each other now." Beelzebub acknowledged in a cold and uncaring tone of voice.
"The hell is a kid doing in a place like this?" Elfman questioned aloud. "Listen, this place is dangerous, help me get my sister down and we can help you get of here."
"You think I'm lost?" Beelzebub asked with a raised eyebrow, much to Elfman's confusion. "Oh that's right, you don't know me. My name is Beelzebub and I'm one of the Seven Sins of the Devil Hand guild."
"What?!" Elfman exclaimed. His face morphed into one of anger. "Bad enough Vergil's got the nerve to target my sisters and my friends, now he's recruiting kids!? What kind of self-respecting man does that!?"
"Technically Vergil didn't recruit me, Arkham did." Beelzebub clarified. "Not that it matters, because if you do this you won't live to see another day."
Was this kid serious?! Was he seriously gonna try to fight Elfman?! Mira was beyond shocked at this, as was Elfman. "Kid, I'm not gonna fight you. You're like what, ten years old!"
"I'm thirteen." Beelzebub corrected. "Again it doesn't matter, and please don't call me a kid, my childhood died a long time ago."
"Kid listen, I don't want to hurt you." Elfman insisted. "But whatever it is Vergil or Arkham have on you we can fix it. Help me free my sister and we can take you to Fairy Tail, we can help you."
"That's nice, but no. You don't want me at your guild. Because if you take me there, there will be nothing left there but bones."
Elfman's eyes widened in shock. "Wha… what are you talking about…?"
"Her name is Mirajane Strauss." Beelzebub looked up toward the bound young woman. "Widely known as the She-Devil because of her Satan Soul Take Over magic. You called her your sister, so you're name is Elfman Strauss, right? And like her, you're also a Take Over user?"
"Yeah….?" The confused and surprised Elfman half-replied.
"Do you know which of the Seven Deadly Sins I represent?" Beelzebub began. "It's Gluttony, do you know what Gluttony means? It means an insatiable hunger that can never be truly satisfied. The reason why that's the case for me is because of my Take Over."
Mira's eyes went wide much like her brother. "He's a Take Over user to?!"
"You got Take Over magic?" Elfman questioned.
"I think it be better to call mine a curse." Beelzebub continued. "Cause unlike yours, mine wants to come out and I can't always control when he wants out." He explained as Elfman looked even more confused. "And right now he really wants out, because he is quite hungry. So I suggest you leave."
Elfman was beyond confused. What was this kid talking about? His Take Over was cursed? Not even Mira heard of something like that, regardless this would not deter him. "I'm not leaving without my sister; so either help me or stay out of my way kid."
Beelzebub sighed. "Then I'm sorry, but you're not rescuing anyone today… " He closed his eyes. "Or ever again." As his eyes closed the temperature in the room suddenly grew much colder as a whirlwind encircled him right as a black and grey magic circle appeared underneath the boy. His eyes opened to reveal they have gone completely black.
"Take Over: Wendigo Soul!"
"Wendigo Soul!?" Mira questioned in shock as she covered her eyes from a bright flash, as did Elfman. When the flash subsided, the room was so cold that frost formed along all the walls and pillars in the chamber and a fog formed in the air.
"Wha… what just happened?" Elfman questioned. He saw something in the fog as it began to move; the sounds of cracking leaves and bones was heard as the figure slowly stood up when the fog began to clear. Elfman got a good look at what he saw as his pupils shrank in terror. "What the…?!"
The Wendigo stood, towering above him almost twice his own height. It gazed down at him with empty eyes as it spoke in a cold demonic voice.
"I warned you… now you will be my next meal."
As Elfman shook in place, Mira's eyes trembled as she saw the monster as dread and horror filled her body. What kind of Take Over was that?! It made her own Satan Soul look like Peter Pan.
At the same time; Some sort of lift-like transport reached its end of the transparent blue path before coming to a halt at a stop that led up a stairway towards a chamber underneath a river of lava. Gajeel stepped off with an eager grin on his face.
"Alright, who's gonna be my first victim?" He questioned with an eager grin.
"Gajeel, perhaps we should wait for Natsu to recover." Lily advised as they turned around to see Natsu hung over the edge of the transport, his cheeks puffy and his eyes in swirls.
The Iron Dragon Slayer face-palmed. "Damn it Salamander, you weren't even on the thing for like five minutes and you're already sick?!" He grabbed the nauseous Natsu by the back of his shirt. "Come on, shake it off!" He comically shook him, forcing Natsu to come to his senses as he dropped him onto the floor.
"The hell was that for?!" Natsu irritatingly questioned.
"It's your fault for getting sick on that thing!" Gajeel argued, resulting in the two butting heads as usual.
"If you two are done, we have a job to do." Lily spoke, getting both their attention as the hovering black Exceed looked up the stairway along with the two Dragon Slayers. "According to Jester, one of the Seven Sins is waiting for us at the end of our path; meaning that he or she must be in there."
"Then what are we waiting for, let's go kick their ass!" Natsu said eagerly.
"For once I agree with ya, you little punk." Gajeel was just as eager as Natsu was as the group ran up the stairs where Natsu punched the door down and they entered a large torture-chamber with lava around the sides and multiple cages hanging from the ceiling via chains.
"What is this place?" Natsu asked. He took a few whiffs. "Smells like death in here."
"It looks as though it's some sort of torture chamber." Lily observed.
"It's also about to be your tomb!" A booming voice echoed from the top as someone large came down and landed with a loud thud on the ground, almost shaking the room a bit.
"The hell are you supposed to be?" Gajeel questioned the man as he stood up and revealed himself.
"I'm Satan one of Devil Hand's Seven Sins!" The red behemoth of a man introduced. "The Sin I represent is Wrath!" He pointed to the group. "And you guys are my first victims of the day!" He smiled sadistically at them. "I can't wait to spill your blood!"
Explosions echoed alongside the thunder of the stormy sky as a dark red streak clashed repeatedly with a dark blue streak. Dante and Vergil, in their respective Devil Triggers, clashed their black swords as they flew past and at each other. Their blows blew away the clouds and the rain. Dante clashed the black Rebellion against the black Yamato wielded by Vergil before Dante gave a roundhouse kick to knock him back and fly after him. However, Vergil pointed his sword at him and shot multiple energy projectiles from the tip of the blade, forcing Dante to block them all with his own sword but this gave Vergil an opening as he suddenly appeared in front of Dante and gave multiple un-seen slashes with his sword before he zoomed past Dante where he gave a demonic painful roar as blood fell from his chest before his wound quickly healed.
Feeling especially bitter, Dante charged at Vergil in the air and tried to stab him with Rebellion, but Vergil was able to catch it between his right arm and side. Dante tried to pull, but to no avail. Vergil then attempted to slash at Dante with Yamato, only for him to catch Vergil's wrist with is claw as the two locked and struggled against each other's strength. Dante's glowing yellow eyes glaring into Vergil's glowing blue ones.
"You have gotten stronger, brother." Vergil admitted. "However, I have as well."
"Oh shut up with all that crap!" Dante exclaimed before he head-butter Vergil, staggering him back a bit and causing the eldest brother to loose grip over Rebellion, letting Dante fly past him and slicing Rebellion. Ordinarily it would have cut anyone in clean in half, but Vergil's accelerated healing via his Devil Trigger sewed the wound closed but it still hurt quite a bit even for Vergil. He glared at his brother as Dante gave him the middle finger with one of his claws.
"You're arrogance will be your undoing!" Vergil clashed with Dante once more.
Happy watched this in awe and suspense. Though he couldn't see Dante or Vergil as they were moving so fast, he could only barley see red and blue lights as well as flashes from their attacks. It was almost hard for the little Exceed to remember that this is the same Dante who always pals around him and Natsu.
"Sometimes… I forget just how powerful Dante really is…" Happy thought to himself. "But then I remember…. He is Sparda's son."
Happy's thoughts were cut off as the red streak and blue streak clashed again before they both twirled down right back to the roof of Temen-ni-gru, causing the entire roof to shake. It was a miracle the whole roof didn't cave in underneath them, though it did leave quite the crater. Happy sprouted his wings and flew up to get a good look of Dante and Vergil locking their black blades; a strong sense of heat coming from where their swords met, from the friction of them grinding against each other.
Dante and Vergil seemed almost evenly matched, and it was getting quite frustrating for the eldest brother. However he intentionally gave in, causing Dante to slip up a bit, with his own senses enhanced in his Devil Trigger, Vergil saw a split-second opening and it was all he needed to impale his brother through the heart, much to Happy's horror. However, Dante grabbed both blades and struggled to yank it out.
"Really?" Dante questioned. "You know that's not gonna work."
"What makes you so certain?" Vergil replied before he channeled a large portion of his demonic energy and Yamato surged with blue light and a bit of lightning before it exploded in a bright blue flurry; shaking up the whole roof.
Happy was nearly blown away but managed to stabilize himself with his wings as the shockwave passed. He flew back to get a closer look as the smoke began to clear, but when it did, his own pupils shrank in horror.
Dante had reverted back to his normal form as he began to slowly fall to the ground, while Vergil, who still remained in his Devil Trigger, pulled out Yamato, reached with his claw and grabbed Dante's amulet. The youngest son of Sparda fell flat on his back on the ground, Rebellion falling from his hands as Vergil held the amulet in his claw. Blue steam lifted from his body before Vergil reverted back to his normal form.
"Give that back!" Vergil looked to see an angry and teary-eyed Happy flying right at him. "That's Dante's! You give it back right now!"
Vergil however pointed Yamato in a flash right at Happy, causing him to stop in his tracks, the tip of the sword less than an inch from his face. The frightened Happy shook in pure terror as he looked into Vergil's cold and uncaring eyes.
"Insect." Vergil said before twirling the blade and putting it away. "Not even worth swatting." He began to walk off the roof down the stairs toward the path that would lead back inside the tower while the frightened Happy sat down next to Dante's wounded form.
Though he was barley conscious and Happy knew that he would recover, it was still painful for him to be seen like this as a puddle of his own blood formed underneath him.
"He lost…" Happy said with a shaky voice, tears coming down his eyes. "Dante lost…. And… Vergil… won…"
"Minotaur!" A large black-furred, red-eyed, minotaur appeared at Belphegor's request from a magic circle and it shot its way towards Trish with a large club in its hand. Trish blocked the strike with her Sparda sword before she charged it with lightning, it conducted its way through her sword down the creature's metal club, shocking it and giving Trish an opening to slice past it with her sword. It was cut completely in half before it fell to the ground and vanished in dark blue smoke.
Belphegor looked more annoyed by this as he raised another hand for summoning. "Skull Dragon!" A large magic circle appeared on the ground, and what rose out of it was a large ten-foot long and twelve foot tall dragon like creature made entirely out of bones with glowing red eyes.
"Oh come on!" Trish cursed as she was swatted back by the monster's tail strike, knocking her back towards the wall. Ordinarily she would have been done by now, but she had been cutting down monster after monster that Belphegor kept summoning with his Legion magic, and she was starting to get fatigue.
"Just how many of these guys does this bastard have?!" Trish thought as she glared at the skeleton dragon that lunged at her with an open jaw.
"Demon Sword: Residual Moon!"
Modeus had suddenly appeared in a streak of white energy, two swords in his hands as he appeared behind the Skull Dragon. Less than a second, a white crescent-shaped moon line formed on the monster's lower body before it split in half vertically and exploded shortly after.
"Trish, are you alright?" He asked as he ran toward her and offered her a hand, which she took and stood up.
"Yeah, cutting it a bit close though, aren't yeah?" She joked.
"I am sorry, but there quite a few demons I had to fight through while navigating through this damned place, it was really a miracle I found anyone." Modeus replied as he turned toward Belphegor. "I take it this is one of the Seven Sins?"
"Bingo." Trish replied. "His name's Belphegor."
"From the name, can I assume the Sin you represent is Sloth?" He questioned the dark wizard.
"Gee aren't you smart." Belphegor noted sarcastically. "Yeah I am. So, you gonna fight me to?"
"I'd rather avoid a fight if at all possible." Modeus said honestly. "However, in order to defend my comrades and friends, I won't hesitate. Though I will give you an opportunity to surrender and avoid an otherwise painful defeat."
Belphegor sighed. "As enticing as that sounds I gotta pass. Sorry but I got my orders. Oh well, just means one more for my legion to kill." He opened his hand as he made a summons again with his Legion magic.
"Centaur! Basilisk! Werebat! Lycan!"
Four of Belphegor's magic circles appeared on the ground and four different creatures appeared from them. One of them was a large muscular red-skinned centaur with black fur on his lower body, along with horns on his head, and glowing yellow eyes. The second was a massive snake-like creature with green scales and yellow-slit eyes. The third was a humanoid-bat-like being with dark brown fur and red eyes. The final one was something akin to a werewolf with black fur and glowing white eyes.
"You've gotta be kidding me." Trish sighed as she and Modeus took combat stances.
"This man can summon monsters to do his fighting, yet he does nothing more than watch. " Modeus noted. "I can see why he represents Sloth. This could be bothersome."
"No shit." Trish replied. "Come on, we'll cut them all down!" She and Modeus each gave a battle cry as they leapt towards the newly summoned creatures.
Done.
So bad news; Dante engaged Vergil in an epic clash, but lost not only the fight but his mother's amulet as well; allowing Vergil to come ever closer towards his goal.
Modeus has arrived to help Trish, but can their combined efforts keep back the continuous summoning of Belphegor's monsters?
At the same time; Natsu, Gajeel, and Panther-Lily have encountered Satan and Elfman is getting ready to duke it out with Beelzebub to save Mira; all the while Leviatha guards Lady for when Wendy will eventually show up. That's four of the Seven Sins encountered thus far; where are the other three? Who will fight who? Find out next time on Fairy May Cry.
Oh a few things to note.
1) Arkham has done something to Lady? What, we won't know till much later on. But here's a hint, I previously did a poll in regards to Lady for my story, for those of you who can remember what it was about, that may give you an answer.
2) For those of you who are a bit unaware of where the current fights are taking place in Temen-ni-gru…
*Natsu, Gajeel, and Panther-Lily have met Satan in the Torture Chamber; the sight of Dante's boss fight against Beowulf in the DMC3 game.
*Trish and Modeus are facing Belphegor in the Windstorm chamber where Dante fought against Agni and Rudra in the same game.
*Elfman is about to square off against Beelzebub in the Altar of Evil level from the game as well.
3) Devil May Cry 5 comes out this upcoming week! I already pre-ordered the game and am expecting to get it by this upcoming Friday. I have EVERY INTENTION of playing the game and adapting its storyline into my Fairy May Cry series; along with the storylines from DMC4 and DMC2 as well. But I would please request that you DO NOT SPOIL THE GAME FOR ME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
Thank you.
I'll see you next time with Fairy May Cry. Jackpot.
