Chapter 16

"Hello?" Toriel asked as soon as I called her.

"Hey, Tori? There's someone with me right now who would like to say hi to you... just promise me that you'll drink water or something when I hand the phone to them, okay?" I smirked, Toriel being a bit confused while Chara chuckled at that.

"Um... okay?" Toriel said in confusion as I then heard her rummaging a bit and then I heard her fill a glass up. "Okay, I've got the water and I'm going to drink it now,"M Toriel said, me then handing the phone to Asriel and him speaking.

"Hi mom... it's me... Azzy," Asriel said, me hearing the spit take on the phone shortly after before she then sounded like she'd heard a ghost.

"A-Asriel?! H-How is this possible?! I thought that Indie said you were a flower!" Toriel asked in bewilderment.

"Y-Yeah... about that... for some odd reason, Indie did a couple of things that made me able to turn back into my old form... back to who I was before everything happened," Asriel said, him then explaining it. "See, she found mine and Chara's souls... still connected and intertwined, behind a door that was password protected... placed there by Professor Gaster..." Asriel said, Toriel gasping at that.

"A-Asriel, please don't say that name... it's dangerous," Toriel said with worry.

"Well... not anymore," I said into the phone. "See, Gaster wasn't exactly truthful at first. The cause of the distortions and time loops weren't because of Asriel and Chara needing to be revived... it was due to his existence in the Void... so, after I found Asriel's soul in a secret room, he then requested and basically forced me to... put him out of his misery," I said, Toriel gasping at that as well.

"P-Put him out of his misery?... Y-You killed him?" Toriel asked.

"Believe me, Tori, I didn't want to do it at all... I even asked him if there would be another way, any way, for him to be able to get a happy ending... but he refused. He told me the truth then and there. That so long as he was in the Void and so long as there was a soul with Determination in the Underground, the time loops would continue to happen... he basically sacrificed his life so the rest of us could have a life to live down here," I said, Toriel sighing at that.

"I see... though I am not happy to hear of this, at least I know you did it with a heavy heart... so... what was the second thing to get my son alive again?" Toriel asked.

"Well... my soul actually resonated with Asriel when he was Flowey... for some odd reason, I learned that the amount of FUN in my soul is limitless. An infinite supply of it... so when I was near Flowey after helping out some monsters in Alphys's lab, he actually admitted to me with tears that he could actually feel emotions again, which he couldn't do before without a soul... and once I gave Asriel his soul back, he morphed from his flowery state into the goat kid you know him to be," I said, Toriel sniffling at that.

"Now I know I have to come out of the Ruins... I'll be over in a short while," Toriel said before I stopped her.

"Well, there is one more thing you could do, provided you're not arachnaphobic," I said, Toriel chuckling at that.

"What is it, hon?" she asked.

"I need you to go to the spiders in the Ruins and give them a mode of heated transport the whole way to Hotland. Trust me, it'll make a certain monster very happy," I said, Toriel smiling at that.

"Well, if I have them cling to my fur and I warm my body temperature with my magic, I'm sure that'd be enough to have them survive Snowdin... okay, I'll go ahead and do that while you go on your way through Hotland... I'll meet up with you shortly, guys... and Asriel? Be good, okay? And don't get into any scrapes," Toriel said, Asriel smiling at her.

"I promise, mom... I'll be more good than I've ever been," Asriel smiled as he then hung up the phone and I noticed that it was at half power. I then decided to go back into the lab and I saw Alphys was actually making another audio log.

"Entry number... oh who cares anymore? The time loops are finally over with, so there's no point to keep making these anymore, especially when everything's perfect this time..." Alphys said, me clearing my throat and Alphys gasping and fumbling her recorder while saying "OH SHIT!" very loudly, me smirking at that.

"Sorry for spooking you, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity like that," I smirked at her, Alphys groaning with a blush again. "Hey, I wanted to ask if you happened to have electric magic on you? You know, like the kind that you used whenever it's the true pacifist route?" I asked, Alphys smirking at that.

"Yeah, I do have electrical magic. Why do you ask?" she asked.

"My phone needs a recharge. I'm on it so much that it's already less than half of power just from calls," I said, Alphys smirking as I then held my phone out and she then placed her pointer finger, claw included into the phone's charger and then gave it a good zap, the phone then getting charged to full in an instant.

"There you go, Indie... but my debt still needs repaid at some point for all you did for me," Alphys smiled.

"Well, maybe you could tell Mettaton to not try to kill me? That might be a good way to pay off the debt," I smirked, Alphys smiling at that.

"I'll try to do that, but no guarantees. Mettaton takes performing very seriously and I doubt he'd be willing to drop the act," Alphys admitted. I nodded at that and then left Alphys be, me then smirking at the others as we then moved forward, us then starting to talk a bit.

"So you're the prince, huh? Never thought I'd meet ya in person, bud!" MK smirked at Asriel, him smiling at her halfheartedly.

"Yeah... but I still feel bad about the stuff I did when I was Flowey... I hurt a lot of people," Asriel said, me holding his shoulder and him looking at me with a small smile.

"It wasn't your fault, Asriel. And besides, it's all done and over with now. So long as we can convince Asgore to abandon his Armageddon plans, we can have you use the other 6 souls to destroy the barrier. And then, we'll give those souls to some of our different friends down here," I said, Asriel smiling at that.

"But who would get them, though?" he asked.

"Well, one will go to Chara, since she needs one in order to be revived... then I was thinking that I could give one to MK and another one to Grillby," I said, Asriel smirking at that and MK smiling at me with her tail wagging.

"I'd love that, Indie! I could become friends with whoever the owner of that soul is, right?" MK asked, me nodding at that.

"Indeed... but keep in mind something important, Indie," GG said in my head, Asriel being a bit confused at that.

"Yeah? What is it?" I asked her, MK whispering the explanation to GG being in my head to Asriel and him nodding shortly after.

"There still remain 4 different monsters that were lost in the Void in this world, and I'm sure you know who they may be," GG said, me being a bit confused at that.

"Four of them?" I asked, me trying to think at that. "I can only think of three we haven't found yet, those being the Gaster Followers," I said aloud.

"There remains one more... the one that could be encountered from the other world. The Deltarune universe, as Gaster called it... you know him well, since your memories say his name was the password for that door," GG said, me thinking a bit before I then gasped.

"J-Jevil? Damn.. that's not going to be a good time at all..." I gulped, knowing that Jevil was the absolute hardest fight from Deltarune and that he was extremely insane. And that he loved to kill anyone who saw him.

"You said a bad word!" MK gasped at that, me smacking my face at that. I had to be careful when around her.

"Sorry, kid... I've been trying really hard to censor myself since you're with us on this adventure," I said with a small frown.

"Well, thanks, I guess," she said with a small smile as we then reached the area with the steam vents, me smirking and stepping on one before then being launched forward to the platform ahead of me, the others doing so behind me and me smirking at how MK didn't stick the landing, but Asriel did. As for Chara? She floated across, since she was a ghost.

"I just hope those guys don't try to do anything nasty to us if we do happen to encounter them... I really don't want to have to hurt anyone else down here," I said with a small sigh.

"I agree on that much... I hate it when the monsters down here get killed, no matter who they are," Chara said with a sigh as we then got to the area with the laser puzzle, me seeing that it had been deactivated already, me smirking at that as I then moved through it and to the next area, which was the place with the two sides leading to the shooting games. But the way here was open, too.

"Well, this is simple," I smirked widely as we then moved across the different steam vents ahead of us and we ended up on a very dark room, me feeling a bit of dread as my soul began to thump again. That could only mean one thing. Danger. I looked around all over as Alphys then called me.

"Don't worry, I'll hack the systems to turn the lights on," Alphys said, her doing just that and me seeing that it was the kitchen set... but Mettaton wasn't the one who we had to face. Right in front of us, coated in his purple clown attire with his white mask, was Jevil, me immediately getting in front of my comrades so that Jevil wouldn't think of doing anything nasty.

"UEEHEEHEE! IT APPEARS THAT YOUR SOUL IS FILLED WITH FUN, FUN! DO TELL, HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF I GOT A GOOD LOOK AT IT?" Jevil snickered as he then pulled something out of thin air. A Devilsknife. He then tried to have it connect to my soul and I gasped at how he sent it out immediatley and slammed the knife right into it, me gasping as, just like when I fought with Gaster, my HP and DEF were no longer infinite. Now my HP was 199 and my DEF was 60. "AS I'M SURE YOU OF ALL PEOPLE WOULD KNOW, PLAYER ONE, I CAN DO ANYTHING! AND THIS TIME, I WILL TAKE THAT SOUL OF YOURS AND FINALLY BE FREED FROM THESE HORRID WORLDS AND GO TO THE ONE FROM WHENCE YOU CAME!" Jevil exclaimed, me gasping and immediately growling angrily as I then knew that I had no choice. I had to stop Jevil from that plan. Sure, my world was a nightmare already, but if Jevil were to go to it, then it just might make everyone be wiped out from his insanity!

"I won't let you do that, Jevil!" I exclaimed as I then held my ground and took something from the kitchen counter, that being the Burnt Pan, which Chara gasped at as I then held it as my weapon. "Okay, Jevil. Let's dance. Just you and me. And if anything happens to my friends, you will not survive this encounter," I said angrily at him.

"UEEHEEHEE! PRETTY SURE OF YOURSELF AREN'T YOU, PLAYER ONE? ROUND AND ROUND WE GO, COME AND CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!" Jevil smirked widely as he then began to teleported around me and began to pelt me and my soul with his spade-shaped knives, but I managed to dodge them and then I connected a blow to his face with the pan, me managing to take at least 50 HP off of him in one hit. But I knew it'd be awhile until he got to 0 HP, since he had 3500 of it in his game.

"Jevil, you don't have to do any of this! Just because you think this world is a jail cell, it doesn't mean that my world is any better, you know?" I asked, Jevil snickering at that.

"OH PLEASE, PLAYER ONE! I KNOW WHAT AWAITS IN THE REAL WORLD. A PARADISE FILLED WITH FREEDOM! I CAN HAVE APPLE PIE ALL DAY EVERYDAY AND DO ANYTHING I WANT!" Jevil smirked, me shaking my head at that.

"Sure, you could do that... if it were 5 years before your game was made. But right now, in the year 2020 in my world? Everyone is forced by the government to stay indoors because of a deadly disease. It took my parents' lives and millions of others' in the process. Police brutality is on the rise because they're not allowing people to go outside, even if it's for a leisurely walk. And the people in charge are not doing anything to help out. Tell me, Jevil, does that sound like a free world? Or does it sound like a jail cell?" I asked, Jevil snickering before I then felt something happen in my head. Some kind of... invasion of privacy. But then, after a bit, Jevil then looked at me with what looked like his tired expression.

"YOU... YOU SPEAK THE TRUTH? H-HOW... HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN GOING ON?" Jevil asked, me sighing at that.

"For nearly 6 months straight. And it's sure to get even worse, considering the entire world is like where I come from. People in one country were being locked in their houses by people melding their doors shut with blowtorches so they couldn't get out unless they jumped from the windows!" I said, Jevil looking to be thinking at that, something I didn't think he was able to do.

"AND TELL ME SOMETHING ELSE... IS THIS WORLD A PRISON CELL STILL? OR WILL IT LIVE ON?" Jevil asked.

"Someone sacrificed his very existence so that, at least in this timeline, there will be no more resets. So long as everyone has a happy ending in this run, then this world will live on, even after the credits roll," I said, Jevil looking at me, then at my friends behind me, then at me again.

"AND WHO WAS THE ONE THAT SACRIFICED HIS LIFE?" Jevil asked.

"I'm assuming it's the same one that made you realize that this world is a game... you can say his name if you want," I said, Jevil sighing at that.

"ALL THIS TIME, I THOUGHT OF HIM AS A DEMON... YOU SAY W.D. WAS A GOOD GUY IN THE END?" Jevil asked.

"Yes, he was. He forced me to fight him so that he would be able to leave for the afterlife once and for all. And he also helped me find Asriel's soul behind a door... oddly enough, it was password protected with your name being the password required," I said, Jevil smirking at that again.

"I GUESS HE DID LIKE ME, THEN... YOU KNOW WHAT? I THINK I'D LIKE TO OFFER A BARGAIN FOR YOU, PLAYER ONE," Jevil said, me raising my eyebrows at that.

"Explain," I said.

"I CAN HAVE IT SO THAT YOUR DREEMURR HUMAN FRIEND CAN BE ALIVE AGAIN, SO LONG AS THEY DON'T MIND SHARING MY SOUL IN THE PROCESS," Jevil smirked, me looking at Chara and her actually needing to give it a good think.

"Fine, I'll allow it. But if he tries anything to hurt anyone, the deal is off," Chara said.

"She said so long as you don't hurt anyone, you can do so. But if you do, the deal's off," I said, Jevil smirking at that as he then approached Chara's spirit and cast a magic spell, me then gasping as Jevil's body formed into that of what Chara looked like as Chara's spirit faded into the body and I saw Chara's eyes appear, just as red as before, but now they had the shape of a cross for the irises, much like Jevil's eyes were.

"Oof..." she groaned as she actually fell down on the ground shortly after. "I may need someone to carry me for a bit... my whole body feels asleep," Chara groaned, me smirking at her.

"Well, at least everyone's alive again," Asriel said with a smile.

"Yeah, this is like, so cool! So Jevil's from another world, huh? You think you could tell us about that world, Indie?" MK asked with a smile.

"Ueeheehee! I'd be more than happy to share that tale with you," Jevil said from Chara's head, though it was more controlled and no longer all caps.

"Ugh... try not to do that creepy laugh anymore? It's giving me a headache," Chara groaned, me smirking at that... I just had to hope that Jevil would be the last we'd hear from the Void's inhabitants...
