Chapter 17
Jevil explained a lot about the world of Deltarune, but of course, he didn't say much past the first chapter, since it hadn't been completed yet. But he did talk about Kris, Ralsei, and Suzie a lot, as well as Rouxls Kaard, who he said was his jailer, which made sense, since Rouxls's castle was where he was encountered. And he also spoke very highly of Seam and Lancer, which I didn't expect the latter and completely expected the former.
"Huh, so it's a world of darkness with a bunch of different guards based on playing cards?" MK asked.
"Yeah, pretty much... by the way, Jevil, I had a question for you," I said, him looking at me with Chara's eyes... which were pretty close to me, since I was carrying the teenage girl's body. "How were you able to morph your body to look like Chara and have it be able to hold both of your souls?" I asked, Jevil smirking at that in Chara's mind.
"Quite simple, really. I can do anything!" Jevil said, me looking at Chara and her and me both sharing the same feeling.
"Chara, can you move your hands yet?" I asked, her nodding at that.
"Yeah, why?" she asked.
"Can you face-palm my face for me?" I asked, her smirking and doing just that, MK and Asriel chuckling afterwards as we got on the first elevator to go to the second floor of Hotland. "I honestly am just a bit surprised that Jevil can pretty much do anything except give an easy win. He's just as tough as a certain skeleton guy I know in this world," I said, Jevil smirking at that.
"You mean that Sans guy, right?" Jevil asked, me nodding as we appeared right next to Sans's hot dog stand and he was in the booth with a couple happy customers next to him. And when he saw Chara in her new body, Sans looked confused before I then smiled at him.
"If you want to know what's going on, the body is provided by a certain jester and he merged both his and Chara's spirits together," I said, Sans smirking soon after.
"i think i know who you're talking about, then... i think... he comes from that other universe, right?" Sans asked, me nodding at that.
"Yep, that's from whence I came from. And if you're wondering how, it's because-" Jevil said before Chara said the rest.
"You can do anything, right?" Chara groaned.
"You're smarter than I thought, fallen child! Hehee!" Jevil smirked, me then looking at Chara with a smile.
"Hey, kid? Can you get up yet?" I asked, her then trying to move her legs and actually succeeding. "Okay, time to use your legs again," I said, Chara then getting on her own two feet and immediately going over and hugging Asriel, which made me smile at how they still had their bond.
"I'm sorry for everything, bro... I didn't want any of this to happen when we went to the surface," Chara said, me smirking at that and me then deciding not to face-palm like I was planning to do after Jevil said that line. It was a very annoying one that I had to listen to way too often when playing Deltarune.
"I'd hug you guys too, but I don't have arms, haha," MK smirked, them deciding to wrap their arms around her and me smirking at that. I then sniffed the air and smiled at the scent of freshly cooked hot dogs.
"Hey, how much for a hot dog, Sans?" I asked with a smile.
"it's 30 gold for each one. you want one?" Sans asked, me smirking and nodding my head as I then gave him the gold from my wallet and got the hot dog shortly after, me deciding to eat it right then and there and smirking at the taste.
"I'm still surprised that these things taste exactly like real hot dogs from my world," I smirked widely.
"yep, and i could tell that you ate a hot dog yesterday, too, when you first met me. so could i have another 30 gold?" Sans asked, me smirking at that and simply giving it to him.
"You certainly are observant, Sans," I chuckled.
"i've been around the block, as i'm sure you're aware," Sans said, me nodding at that.
"Yeah, and so has Alphys... she's also aware of it, so I'm guessing that means that you and her did work together at one point?" I asked, Sans nodding at that.
"she and i were old partners back when all of this first started... the first couple of playthroughs were from that toby guy himself, trying to mess with our world to see how the game worked... but only alphys and i knew of what was happening every time, since our machine detected a time abnormality after toby tried messing with the codes. and after the 150th test, we discovered everything about every playthrough that'd happen, each of them being different and horrifying... i especially hated any run where those players killed my bro... he means everything to me," Sans said, me nodding at that.
"Yeah, you two always bicker, but it's obvious that neither of you would be able to live life without the other. It's pretty admirable to have such a bond with your brother," I said, Sans smirking at that.
"yeah, i really love 'im... you guys should probably get goin' soon. and keep your phone on, because papyrus said he'd call you when every single test subject woke up and was on their way home," Sans said, me smiling at that.
"Sure thing, Sans," I said with a smile. We then made our way through the next parts and saw that the puzzles, once again, were all solved beforehand, which made me very confused. I then decided I'd call Alphys to ask her a serious question.
"Hello?" Alphys asked.
"Hey, Alphys? It's Indie," I said, her sighing afterwards in content. "I have a question... did you solve all the puzzles before I went on my way through Hotland?" I asked, Alphys immediately sounding confused.
"Huh? No, I didn't. I made all the puzzles happen and I couldn't complete them on my own from in the lab... and Mettaton said that he plans to meet with you after I finish up his more photogenic form... I've actually been working on it for a good bit now," Alphys said, me being surprised at that.
"Then who's the one that's been doing all of these puzzles?" Asriel asked for me as we then got to the area with the cheese in the laser safe, me then making a Save Point as well as Chara, which actually surprised me. "You can use Save points again! Awesome!" Asriel smiled at that.
"I'm surprised, too," Chara admitted as we then got to the next stretch... only to be stopped by the two guards we hadn't encountered yet.
"Halt, citizens!" they exclaimed as they went up to us from behind. "Sorry, but, like, this area is off-limits. There have been reports of a human in the area wearing gloves and a tomboyish attire of clothing," the one guard said, me looking at myself... and frowning at how they were right. I was a bit of a tomboy in terms of clothing, if you didn't include the glasses on the top of my head.
"I know, scary, right?" the other guard asked, him being the one to have the solid bod underneath.
"Well, not really," MK said, the duo of guards looking a bit confused at that.
"Huh? Like, what do you mean 'not really'? Have you seen a human before?" the skinnier one asked.
"Yes, in fact, I'm friends with 2 of them," MK smirked, the guards gasping at that and then turning around to converse to themselves.
"Two humans? I was told there was only one, right?" 02 asked his partner.
"But... wait... does that one among this group... don't they look familiar?" 01 asked, me frowning as they turned around and then looked at each other.
"Bro? You thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?" 02 asked.
"What? That me and Indie are humans? Or that Indie matches the description perfectly?" Chara asked, the guards looking at her in confusion before 01 then gasped.
"W-Wait... why do you look so familiar?" 01 asked before he then inspected Chara closer before he then gasped. "I-It can't be... the princess! She's alive again!" he exclaimed, 02 gasping at that and looking at 01 in confusion.
"The princess? You mean Chara?... Didn't she die of unknown causes?" 02 asked.
"Well, I did die, you're not wrong about that... we'd love to tell you the whole story, but you'd be better off speaking with Doctor Alphys instead. She knows everything and is open to visitors now... also, I'm not really technically in my old body right now," Chara said, the guards looking at each other in confusion again.
"Um... what does that mean?" the guards asked before Chara then smiled.
"Hey, Jevil? Can you show them what you can do?" Chara asked, Jevil snickering, which made the guards baffled when Jevil then turned Chara's body into his Devilsknife form before he then changed into his original form.
"I can do anything!" Jevil smirked, but once again, it was from his thoughts as Chara was still in control of the body. He then changed the body to make Chara look like Alphys, and then to Undyne, and then to Sans.
"Oh no you don't, change my appearance back to anything BUT this!" Chara said, Jevil then doing so... and now Chara looked like a poop emoji, which made me start laughing out loud, Chara looking confused before I said it to her.
"Looking a bit crappy today?" I smirked, Chara groaning at that.
"Okay, that's it. Back to normal now," Chara said in annoyance as Jevil then complied and turned Chara back to her human form.
"Um... so, like, what do we do now?" 01 asked in confusion.
"Well, first off, I think you should share your feelings for each other," I said, 01 gasping and sweating profusely... but I also saw 02 was doing the same.
"U-Uh... a-are you, like, trying to control my brain?" 01 asked in worry.
"No... she's right... 01... I... I have something to say..." 02 said, me looking at him with a smile.
"I-Is it what I want to say too?" 01 asked.
"I... love you... like, a lot..." 02 said, me smirking at how 01 then stopped sweating soon after.
"I... I love you too, 02... how about we go get some ice cream?" he said happily.
"I'd like that..." 02 smirked as they then went off to the elevator that we came from, me looking at Asriel, Chara, and MK with a smirk.
"Well, I'd say that they're happy," MK smiled.
"Yeah, they are..." Asriel smiled as we then moved ahead and we came to the area where MTT Live Report would happen... and once again, it was dark in the room. I called Alphys again and she immediately got on the phone.
"I don't know who keeps turning off these darn lights... okay, turning them on now," Alphys said with a smile as the lights then turned on... and when they did? I immediately knew that our group was in deep trouble. Why? Because we were surrounded by all three of Gaster's Followers. The grey and creepy head-in-the-hand guy, the snow white gingerbread guy, and the melty-fanged slime guy. And now I knew that something bad was going to happen.
