Chapter 19
Chara carried me up to the next level of the elevator, where we happened to see something we didn't expect. Toriel was right in front of us and she looked to be talking with Muffet after having delivered the little spiders from the Ruins, which made me smile at them.
"Hey, Tori? Look here," I said, getting her attention and for Toriel to gasp when she saw Asriel and then looked at me with tears in her eyes.
"You really did save him... I'm... I'm so happy," Toriel sniffled a bit as she went to Asriel and hugged him happily.
"I'm not the only one she saved, mom..." Asriel smiled, Toriel looking at me in confusion, while also looking a bit perplexed at Chara's current appearance.
"Who is this, Indie? The one carrying you?" Toriel asked, me smirking at that.
"A combination of a Void monster and a princess," I smiled, Toriel being confused at that before Chara then put me on the ground and she then had Jevil turn her into her original form, Toriel gasping and looking to be taken aback by Chara's new state of being.
"C-C-Chara?... Is it really you, my child?" Toriel asked in shock.
"Yeah, it's me... though the only downside I've gotten in this new body is that... well, go ahead and say your stupid line, Jevil," Chara frowned as Jevil then snickered.
"I can do anything!" Jevil smiled from Chara's mind as he then had Chara do something that normal humans couldn't do. He had her body fly in the air and then turn into a bunch of different things before then turning back into Chara's form, Toriel looking at her in surprise before then looking at me.
"Who's this Jevil again and what did he do to my daughter?" Toriel asked.
"Jevil is from another world that's vastly similar to this one, while also being quite different... He gained powers of FUN after he encountered Gaster and we ran into each other on the way through Hotland..." I said as MK explained the rest.
"Jevil originally wanted to take Indie's soul so that he could go to her world so he could be freed from these worlds, since he knows about the time loops and all that... but after Indie told him what it was actually like in her world, Jevil then decided to join Chara's spirit to his body so that the both of them could have a happy ending... the only downside is that Jevil can be quite annoying," MK smirked.
"Being annoying is the core of a jester, though, little lady! And I am the ultimate jester!" Jevil smirked, me groaning at that.
"Toriel?" I said, getting her attention to me. "Now that we've met up, do you think you could carry me over to MTT Resort? I need something to eat and drink while also getting some rest," I said, Toriel smiling at that.
"Of course I can... after all, you saved my son and my daughter from their horrible fates, as well as a lot of monsters I met on my way here... something happened to all of them to make them lose their color and they said it had something to do with Determination and melting bodies... could you explain more on the way?" Toriel asked, me nodding at that as I then looked at Muffet with a smile.
"By the way, miss spider lady? I was the one who requested Toriel help out your spiders, just an FYI," I said, Muffet smiling at me and blushing, which I didn't get until she smiled at me.
"I know that already... and I'm forever grateful, cutie-pie," Muffet smirked at me with a wink before doing her trademark laugh shortly after.
"Let's get going to the resort. It's only a bit down the path, though we will need to go through some more of those steam vent puzzles on the way," Toriel said, me smiling at that.
"Sure," I smirked with a yawn as I then got very tired. I ended up drifting off to sleep by the time that we arrived at the hotel, me nodding off into a dream.
When I entered my dream this time, I was a bit confused. My mom and dad weren't anywhere to be found and, for some very odd reason, it was completely dark all around me. "What's going on?... Mom? Dad? Where are you?" I asked, hoping they'd answer me... but they didn't. I then heard a tune that made my skin crawl. The tune that I thought was even creepier than Entry 17. The theme that played at the very end of the Genocide routes... and shortly after, I saw something appear in front of me. It was Chara... but I knew just from looking at her that it wasn't the Chara that I knew... no... this one had dust coating their clothing and they had a very creepy smile and a bloodied knife in hand... and around their neck was a heart locket. I knew already what was going on... and I was scared stiff.
"I am the demon when people calls its name... Chara, the Fallen Child," this version of Chara spoke, but in a much more sinister tone than the one I knew.
"W-What are you doing in my dream?... I didn't do the Genocide route," I gulped, hoping that I could try to talk my way out of this one, like I did with the others. But Chara smiled at me wickedly.
"Do you recall the words I spoke to the players before giving them the choice? To erase this pointless world... and move on to the next?" Chara asked, me gulping at that.
"You mean... this is the world that you decided to move to?" I asked in worry.
"Hehe... yes... and do not worry, I am not Gaster. I am Chara, the Fallen Child..." she said, my body shivering all over. I knew that this kid was a dangerous threat, especially if it was the one from the countless Genocide routes that they'd taken.
"I-I don't understand though... why choose this world?" I asked in fear.
"Because of something that you have... your soul is filled with FUN. The moment I felt it's immeasurable power, I knew that it'd be my ticket out of these worlds... and right to your own... with my powers from these worlds and the souls of all of those Frisks I've collected, all who have committed Genocide shall feel the brunt edge of my knife," Chara said, me gulping at that.
"Y-You do realize that my world isn't going to treat you nicely, right? It may be filled with Genocide players, but I'm more worried about you if you were to go there," I said, Chara looking at me with a frown instead of their smile.
"You worry for me?... Hah... don't make me laugh. Why worry for someone as heartless as I?" Chara asked.
"Because my world is actually in the worst state it's ever been. More murderers, a terrible disease that grips the world, and evil politicians. Even if you did go to my world with the intent of killing everyone that committed Genocide in this world, you'd probably end up dead yourself at some point," I said, Chara smirking at that.
"Oh really? You think I'd be fooled by that kind of lie? I am an unstoppable force... the angel of death. Everyone will die by my hand. And no stupid disease can kill me," Chara said, me gulping as I could feel it. She wasn't going to budge.
"If you are intent on trying to go to my world... how would you go about it?" I asked, me then seeing her eyes turn into their wide and blackened state.
"Your soul, obviously. Now do me a favor and stand still," Chara smiled as she then did the spookiest thing in the game. She rushed at me with them laughing in their evil cackle while her eyes and mouth bled black liquid, me bracing for impact from the power she possessed... and I gasped at how, when she connected her knife to my soul... it actually withstood the attack and pushed her back from the blast, me seeing at least 100 souls fly off of her and shatter instantly!
"W-What the fuck?!" Chara asked in shock, me being just as surprised.
"Huh... I guess you don't have the power to take me out, kid," I smiled, her growling and seething at me. "Besides, though you think this world is kill or be killed... you're wrong," I said as I then felt my powers return. This was my mind. My world. And I was going to save everyone!... Even if that meant defeating this evil version of Chara in battle! "In this world, which is now freed from resets of any kind, there is only one rule. Be friendly to all. And even if you attack me with everything you have, I'm going to keep sparing you until you get the point," I said as I then saw the options appear. And SAVE was in place of Act, me then going into that part and seeing that this Chara... she had similar options to the Asriel fight at the end of Pacifist, only her options were those of the boss monsters encountered. Toriel, Papyrus, Undyne the Undying, Mettaton Neo, Sans, and Flowey. And I was going to SAVE all of them! I immediately reached out to Toriel first, who I saw was very dusty and had a laceration across her chest with blood pouring out of it.
"Toriel... why don't we go ahead and make some butterscotch cinnamon pie together?" I asked, Toriel looking to quiver a bit as she then spoke.
"I damn your Determination," Toriel spoke as she then attacked me with a lot of fire attacks, me dodging all of them and then smiling again.
"Well, if you don't want to make pie, then how about we read that snail fact book? I'd like to learn more snail facts," I smiled, that making Toriel gasp as her dust cleared as did her laceration.
"I... I believe in you, human female... SAVE my daughter... she deserves a happy ending," Toriel said, me nodding at that as I saw that Chara looked a bit weaker when I then approached her.
"What... what are you doing to me?" Chara asked as she then tried to connect a bunch of knife attacks to me, but I dodged them all until she did manage to get a small hit on my soul, but once again, it knocked her backwards and took at least 500 of Frisk's souls this time! "Rgh... You... insolent..." she growled as I then reached out again, this time to Mettaton and Undyne combined, me seeing that Undyne was in her melted phase and Mettaton Neo was in pain.
"Undyne, do you want to teach me how to cook?" I asked, Undyne growling at that before she then saw my smile and she then lost her melted status and returned to her Undying form.
"Human... I don't know if I can trust you... but if you can SAVE this kid, you can handle anything this world throws at you!" Undyne exclaimed as Mettaton Neo then proceeded to attack me with a ton of laser blasts from his hand gun, kind of like in one of his fan fights. I then smiled at him happily.
"Mettaton, how about you and me go see Napstablook? He misses you a lot," I said, Mettaton gasping at that before he then smiled at me with a wide grin.
"Please... SAVE all of us. Make the curtains fall on this kid's genocidal behaviors," Mettaton said, me nodding at that as Chara then looked even more weakened from this one and she growled at me.
"What the hell are you doing to me?... Is your soul really that strong?! I WILL DESTROY YOU!" Chara exclaimed as she then tried to rush me with her knife again.. but before she could swing it directly at my soul, I grabbed her by the arm and hugged her to my body, her being shocked by this before breaking free of the hug and looking perplexed. "Why... why are you being so nice to me?" Chara asked as I then went into her body again and decided to SAVE all the three remaining monsters inside of her. The skeleton bros and Flowey were all that remained.
"Papyrus... how about we go ahead and make some spaghetti?" I asked, that immediately making him smirk at me, even though he was just a head.
"HUMAN! I BELIEVE IN YOU! YOU CAN WIN!" Papyrus exclaimed at me as Sans then sighed.
"just give up, kid... i did a long time ago," Sans said as Flowey then cackled.
"In this world, it's kill oR BE KILLED!" Flowey exclaimed as he then did his cackle and I saw tons of his pellets appeared and they began to home in on me from all angles while Sans attacked with a ton of Gaster Blasters, me getting nicked by one of Sans's attacks and getting hurt from the blow, but it didn't do anything to my infinite HP and DEF.
"Sans... you may have given up on life, but I haven't. Besides, this world is freed from time loops. No more resets... if I beat this kid with kindness, you'll be freed," I said, Sans looking perplexed at that before then smiling at me.
"... strangely, i believe you... if you can win, i'll take ya to an amusement park. whaddaya say?" he asked with a smile.
"I say that sounds lovely... and Asriel... please, you have to listen to me... there is another way to go about life. Another way other than killing people... you may not believe a word I say, Asriel, but there is hope for you... hope for a better future," I said, Flowey looking at me with worry before he then shivered a bit with tears in his eyes.
"P-Please... SAVE all of us... I don't want to be dead forever..." Flowey cried... in Asriel's voice! And I nodded at him shortly after and saw that Chara looked to be shaking in place.
"Human... do you know why I'm doing all of this?" Chara asked, me raising my eyebrow at that. "I'm tired... I'm tired of all of these murders and deaths... I just want all of it to end... and only by going to your world will this world be able to survive... SO PLEASE! JUST LET ME KILL YOU!" Chara exclaimed as she then rushed me again and proceeded to try and hack and slash at my soul numerous times, each one making her lose hundreds of her Frisk souls until I saw her peter out by the time she only had one left... before she could attack me with the final soul inside of her, I held her hand back from my soul and she looked at me with worry.
"Chara... if you attack my soul again with only one soul left, you'll lose your entire existence... you'll end up dying once again and for no gain to anyone, not even yourself... is all of this pointless fighting worth it if no one gets a happy ending?" I asked, Chara then breaking free from me and holding her knife up and looking at me angrily... but I smiled at her warmly and Chara then quivered.
"I... I..." Chara sniffed as I then saw her FIGHT option begin to break. "I... Can't..." she sniffed as she then dropped her knife to the ground and her FIGHT option was no completely obliterated, her then falling to her knees with tears in her eyes. "I... I don't want to die... but I don't want this world to die either... I just want to be able to live on, no matter what world I'm in... I hate the violence... I hate the humans... I hate your world and how it makes this one a living hell... I... I don't know what to do..." Chara said with tears in her eyes, me smiling at her as I then approached her and hugged her gently.
"There is one way that you can have a happy ending, kid..." I said, her sniffing at that. "This world, since I defeated Gaster, is freed from Time Loops... all you need to do is give me your last soul... let me take it and have it in my body... then, you can finally have the happy ending you want... and be around your friends forever," I said, Chara sniffing at that as I then heard a couple of other voices.
"Believe her, Fallen... she's saved a lot of lives with her kindness," said GG as she appeared from my left.
"We'd never lose faith in our daughter, Dreemurr. Even though this world is very different from ours, she's very accepting of everyone. Please, just give her a chance," mom smiled at Chara. The kid then sniffed in a big booger and then did what I thought she'd do. She let her soul leave her body, it belonging to Frisk, and then she had both it and her entire body enter my own.
"Please... if you say you can help me out... then I will let you show me how you can..." Chara said as I then smiled as I could feel her inside of me.
"I promise you, kid. I'll make sure that you have a happy ending," I smiled at her happily as I could feel my dream begin to end shortly after.
