Chapter 20
When I woke up from that eventful dream, I looked around and saw I was in the big girl's bed at MTT Resort with my allies all around me and looking very concerned.
"Oh thank goodness you woke up... You were having an awful nightmare and thrashing all over," Toriel said with concern in her eyes, me then looking to her and her then gasping when she saw my own.
"What? What's wrong?" I asked her.
"Your eyes... they're as red as Chara's are..." Toriel gawked, me then feeling something inside of me shudder. Chara, the one from the Genocide universes. She was still inside of me and was tongue tied right now.
"I... It wasn't a dream or a nightmare, guys... I had one last person I needed to save when I fell asleep," I said with a sigh as I then let out my soul and showed them the shock of the century. My soul now had two of them melded together with one being upside-down with the other facing the regular way. And the upside-down one was a much darker shade of red to it.
"O-Oh my god... i-is that what I think it is?" Chara asked in surprise.
"Yes... this soul... it belongs to a different Chara... one that witnessed mass Genocide numerous times," I said with a sigh, Asriel gasping at that.
"B-But... how?" he asked in shock.
"I don't know how... but she came into my dream after moving on from numerous Genocide runs in order to try and take my soul to go to the real world... but what she didn't account for was that my soul was impenetrable to her, as she had no FUN in her at all. So I was able to block all of her attacks before I managed to pacify her... she wanted another chance, but I didn't dare try to talk to her when she was furious at me and with all of those millions of souls inside of her body... when she had just that one soul left, I held her back and held her in a hug, offering her a happy ending where everyone is happy... and now she's a part of my body, just like Goner Kid and my parents," I said, Jevil sighing afterwards.
"Well, I never thought I'd say this, but... fighting someone with millions of souls? That may be one thing I cannot do. Props to you, Player One," Jevil said, me smirking at that.
"Well, Jevil, there is one thing you could do when we all get freed from the Underground and go to the surface," I said, Jevil perking up at that.
"And that would be?" he asked with intrigue.
"You try to teach me how to do all of your magic spells. I really want to learn magic, you see," I said, Jevil smiling at that.
"That I can do easily! Ueeheehee!" Jevil smiled widely as Toriel looked at me with a sigh, same with MK.
"So... how do we address her? And is she even able to speak to us?" Toriel asked, me hearing a small sigh in my mind.
"Not right now... this kindness... I need to meditate on it..." the Chara in my head said, me smiling at that and how everyone heard her.
"She sounds much deeper in tone than me, that's for sure... so should we give her a nickname?" Chara asked.
"Well, if she wants one, I could always call her Charlotte," I said, me hearing a small chuckle in my head from her.
"Sounds better than my pun name... go ahead... but like I said, give me time to meditate..." the Chara in my head said, that making it solidified in stone. Her name was now Charlotte and I now had 5 people inside of my body at the same time.
"Well, I'd say it's about time that we head to the castle and speak to the king... what time is it, just curious?" I asked.
"It's around 5 PM. I think that last stunt you did with the followers made you get a bit low on juice," MK smirked at me.
"Followers? Who do you mean?" Toriel asked.
"Three different monsters who were devoted followers of Gaster, all of them trapped in the Void and wanting to kill me for what I did to Gaster... only because of Jevil showing them the truth via my memories did they realize that I didn't kill Gaster maliciously or willingly," I said with a small sigh.
"You've... killed before?" Charlotte asked from my head.
"And I've felt nothing but immeasurable guilt ever since... it was really tough telling his sons that I killed their dad..." I sighed as I then got off the bed and going with the others to the burger emporium and us seeing that Burgerpants was there again and he looked like he was smiling.
"Hey there, buddy! How's it goin'?" he asked with a smile.
"Going good... you got some food for sale? I'm a bit hungry... also, why are you still working here?" I asked him.
"That stupid rectangle decided it'd be best to let me leave whenever he felt like it. Which he decided would be whenever the barrier breaks... but that ain't happenin' anytime soon, now is it?!" Burgerpants growled angrily as I then sighed at that.
"Well, good news is, I predict that, when we go to meet with the king, the barrier will be destroyed today before bedtime. And when that happens, you tell Mettaton to shove it up his flash drive and throw that hat right on the ground," I said, Mettaton smirking at that.
"You and that guy in my head are good eggs, I tell ya what! When we get outta this joint, I wanna be an actor on the surface!" Burgerpants smiled.
"Well, that'd be quite easy. Especially if we could get you an act with my jester friend," I said, Chara smirking at me slyly at that.
"And do I have any say in it?" Chara asked.
"Don't worry, Fallen! We can do anything, remember?" Jevil smirked, me facepalming at that as I simply ordered a Glamburger and saw that the burger was, indeed, made of sequins, glue, and paper... it looked completely inedible, but I decided to wing it and eat it anyways. And honestly, it actually tasted just like the real deal, just with a bit of sweetness to it. And after I was done eating and handing over the money, I then went to the elevator and I saw that it was in working order... for some odd reason.
"I wonder why the elevator is working again... normally it isn't," I frowned before someone then came into the hotel from the front entrance... alongside a bunch of other someones.
"That's because I hacked into the mainframe and made it so that the elevator can work again. It'll take you right to Asgore's castle, right next to New Home," Alphys said, me smirking at her and the others who decided to join, those being Mettaton EX, Sans, Papyrus, Undyne, and even some of the lesser monsters such as Shyren, Napstablook, the Snowdrake family, and Bob the Temmie.
"Well, it looks like we have a whole party going to meet with Asgore today, huh?" I smiled, Alphys smirking at me while Undyne held her in a small hug.
"Yep, we decided we'd join you lot on your trip to the king to make sure he doesn't do any kind of FIGHTing with you," Undyne said, me smiling at her when she said it with capital letters.
"indie, when we get a chance to talk, i wanna talk... specifically about what i can sense in your soul right now," Sans said, me smiling at him and nodding. We then all boarded the elevator in turns and we arrived at the elevator that was right next to the Judgement Hall, where I proceeded forward with my friends until I got to a certain part, where all of my friends behind me suddenly stopped in place as time froze for everyone except for me... and I then looked forward and saw Sans standing there across from me.
"So this is it. The end of your journey is at hand... In a few moments you will meet with the king of all monsters and determine the fate of this world... but that's then. Now, you will be judged for every EXP you've earned... and with enough EXP, you gain LV. The higher your LV, the more you distance yourself. And the more you distance yourself, the more willing you are to hurt others... and the less you hurt when doing so," Sans said as he then closed his eyes and sighed. "i dunno how in the hell it came to be... but your LV as of current, indie? it's 20, the highest it can go. so you'd better give me a damn good excuse as to why i shouldn't give you a bad time right here and now," Sans said, me sighing at that.
"A few hours ago, I fell asleep after meeting and saving Gaster's three trusted followers on the way through Hotland, which resulted in my being very tired after using my FUN-filled soul to have their souls merge with three monsters of their choosing. And shortly after I fell asleep, I was attacked in my dream by a different version of Chara, one that had thousands of souls in her from alternate timelines, all of them from Genocidal Players... but I managed to pacify her when I got her down to one soul, as my FUN was high enough to the point that her attacks only resulted in her souls being obliterated one at a time. She then merged her soul, mind, body, and personality with mine so that I could give her a happy ending, like everyone else down here... and I had a feeling it'd make my LV go up, since the soul she used belonged to a Frisk with an LV of 20... believe me, Sans, I am not a bad guy and I never was," I said, Sans sighing at that and nodding.
"i believe every word you say... because i can see your thoughts. and all of it matches your description of events that took place... despite you having a high LV, you're not a callous and cold-hearted person... i guess that one question i always asked her... that if she thought that even the worst person could change?... i think that may have some truth to it... if you can help this version of chara change... then buddy, you've proven to be a very good person... when we meet with the king, tell him to give the human souls to asriel... then the kid can use the powers to destroy the barrier before then giving the souls to your friends, as you planned on... but to be honest kid, if the time loops do reset after all of this? i'm just going to give up on everything... no more of doing anything at all, not even keeping my promise to toriel... if this world resets, i'm killing any human that leaves that door. maybe then people will stop messing with our world," Sans said, me smiling at that.
"I wouldn't have it any other way, Sans," I said to him as Sans then warped back to where he was in the crowd, which happened to be the back row as time flowed freely again, me then continuing to walk forward with my group until we were just outside the throne room. "All in favor of going in all at once but not making a peep? Nod your heads," I said, everyone doing just that and me smirking. We all then went into the garden with quiet footsteps time carefully as we saw Asgore was watering his flowers.
"Dum-dee-dum... Dum-doo-doo-dee-dum..." Asgore hummed, me smirking at how it was his theme that he hummed. I then cleared my throat to get his attention and I smiled at how Asgore didn't look back, but heard me all the same.
"Oh? Is someone there? Hold on, I've almost finished watering these flowers," Asgore said as he watered the last bit of buttercups with his watering can before then smiling. "There we are... hi, how can I help-" Asgore said before he then stood there in shock, him dropping his watering can on the ground when he saw all of us, and immediately gasping when he saw his three family members in the front row right next to me with Toriel giving him a frown while his kids smiled at him happily.
"A-Asriel?... And Chara?... C-Could it really be you?" Asgore asked in shock. The two smiled with tears in their eyes as they then ran to him and hugged him, Asgore so stunned that all he did was hug back. "How... How is this even possible?"
"A whole lotta confusion and a whole lotta FUN, that's how it's possible," I said, Asgore then looking at me with confusion.
"Huh... um... who are you?" Asgore asked.
"Name's Indie Gamma... let me tell ya, mister king, it took a whole lot in order to get your children back to their living states of being... we have quite a long story to tell you," I frowned as we then explained everything that happened. How Gaster brought me to this world from a different one, how the world was constantly set in a time loop until Gaster forced me to kill him, how I found Asriel's soul, everything about Flowey and how I got him to accept Asriel's soul to become the goat kid, about how Chara's spirit merged with a monster from the void to become a combination of the two, and all the different trials I went through with the other members of the Void to get to the castle... though I did make sure to leave out the part about Charlotte being in my head as of right now, since she did need to meditate still.
"That's... definitely confusing... but why go through all of that trouble?" Asgore asked.
"Well, for two reasons. One, I actually want to stay in this world than go back to my old one, since it's in a very bad state right now due to a deadly virus... and second, I want everyone in this world to have a happy ending... but there remains one final hurdle to overcome before that happens, and I think you know what it is," I said, Asgore nodding at that.
"Yes... the barrier needs to be destroyed... but... what would I do when we go to the surface?... Now that my children are returned to me, I don't think it'd be wise to declare war on the humans... especially since that declaration left me all alone here," Asgore said, Toriel finally smiling at him.
"Well, we have a plan in place. Asriel will be the one to absorb the 6 human souls you currently have so that he can destroy the barrier, as he still has Chara's soul attached to his own. And when he destroys the barrier, he'll then give the 6 souls to some of our monster friends to give them some more longevity," I said, the king smiling and nodding at that.
"Very well, then... I shall lead you to the barrier... and Tori... forgive me and my horrible actions... I don't deserve anything but the worst for my crimes," Asgore said, me going up to the big lug and giving him a hug, Asgore being a bit surprised at that before he then hugged back gently.
"Oh, Asgore..." Toriel said with a small, sad smile. "Though it may take time for these wounds to heal, I do believe we could try to work something out... for the sake of our family," Toriel said, me smirking at how even Asgore would get a happy ending at the end of this.
"Come along, it's time that we finally see the surface," Asgore said, me nodding at that as we then moved to the back of the throne room and into the room with the Barrier, where I saw that I was unaffected by it, most likely due to me having 3 souls inside of me as well as 5 people in general. "These are the souls..." Asgore said as he tapped his trident against the ground and the containers for the 6 souls arrived shortly after.
"Okay, Azzy, now comes the tricky part... we don't know what will happen when you get all of those souls in you, so try to stay in control, okay?" I said to the goat kid, him nodding at that.
"Okay... I'm ready," Asriel said as Asgore then opened the lids to the containers and Asriel then absorbed all 6 of the souls into his body, me being surprised at how he managed to keep a level head afterwards. "Hoo... okay, you guys may want to stand back... this attack may be a bit stronger than I'd like... and I don't want anyone to get hurt..." Asriel said, everyone doing just that and waiting in the throne room along with myself... and shortly afterwards, I heard a loud flash noise followed by hearing a sound that was so satisfying to hear. The sound of glass shattering. The barrier was now defeated and Asriel then came into the throne room afterwards with a sigh.
"Okay... the barrier's destroyed... and I managed to keep the human souls inside of me... now I need to give each one to some of our friends... right?" Asriel asked, me nodding at that.
"As for who will get them... MK will get the Cyan soul that belongs to Ribbon," I said, MK smirking at that as Asriel then disconnected the Cyan soul from his body and MK then took it by having her head connect with it... and I could feel her power radiating shortly afterwards.
"Whoa! This feels so cool!" MK smirked while wagging her tail.
"The orange one, I feel should go to Shyren... maybe he can help her to become less shy," I said, Shyren smiling at that with a blush.
"T-Thank you, Indie..." she smiled as Asriel then gave Karat's soul to her, Shyren then getting a power upgrade shortly after.
"As for the Blue soul, that one can go to... Mrs. Drake. And don't worry, it won't hurt you to have a human soul in you," I said, Mrs. Drake smiling at me.
"Thanks, Indie... I will admit, I was a bit worried when you said that... especially given my state of being for that long of time," she sighed as she then approached Asriel and he gave her the soul belonging to Juliet, her sighing after the soul went inside of her and she smiled warmly as she felt her chest with her wing.
"I can feel her inside of me... she's speaking to me in my head, saying that she feels alive again... and is forever grateful," Mrs. Drake said with a smile.
"As for Sharpei's soul, the purple one... it can go to Napstablook. Mettaton, you want to give it to him by chance?" I asked, Mettaton smiling at that.
"But of course, human! I'd be more than happy to deliver it to him!" Mettaton smiled in his usual hammy way, me smirking at that as Asriel then gave Mettaton the soul and he then placed it in his inventory and then left us to go get Napstablook.
"MAKE SURE TO TELL THE OTHERS ABOUT THE BARRIER BEING DESTROYED!" I shouted at him.
"OF COURSE, HUMAN!" Mettaton shouted back, me smiling at that.
"As for the owners of the green soul and the yellow soul... hmm..." I frowned as I looked at the rest of the group before I then decided where they'd end up. The green one goes to Undyne and the yellow one goes to Alphys," I said, the duo looking at me in confusion.
"Why?" Alphys asked.
"Well, you're yellow, right? And so is the soul... and Undyne gets the green soul because of her green attack skills. She might get even more crazy if she got a green soul in her... though I still have a question to ask you, Undyne, one that's always been on my mind," I said, Undyne smirking at that as she and Alphys then received their souls... and I could see Undyne looked to get so tough, you could literally see how tough she was from a strange mist covering her body.
"What's your question, punk?" Undyne smirked at me.
"How'd you get that eyepatch? I always wanted to know how that came about," I said, Undyne smirking at me.
"Oh, that? I was fixing up some dinner at home... and I was chopping some tomatoes with my giant sword... I accidentally smashed the table too hard and the sword flew off and the blade got lodged in my eye. I had to get it removed shortly after, so now I've only got the one," Undyne said, me smiling at that.
"Well, regardless, I can literally see an aura of strength emanating from you after getting that soul," I smiled.
"Really? Cool!" Undyne smiled widely as Asgore then looked at our group with a smile.
"I'd say it's time that we tell the Underground of the good news," Asgore said.
"Agreed completely," I smiled back at him.
