Chapter 50
Fire burst from Dumbledore's astronomy tower, two bodies rolled from the flames panting and crying "Ella? ELLA! Are you- what's wrong? Rose, what's wrong? Talk to me!" Horus begged his sister, pulling her back into his arms against his chest, their hearts pounding in terror, Ella's in deep, dreading sorrow.
Panting with streaming tears running down her face Ella took the moment of their safety and curled her body into her brothers for comfort as she cried, her brother's arms tightening around her she felt his face being buried into her hair. He had no idea why she was so hysterical. She wasn't talking to him. She couldn't speak. He'd have taken advantage and looked into her mind for the answers, however with her delicate situation, emotionally and mentally, he wouldn't make her go through more pain than she already seemed to be going through. Yet worst of all, her pain was his pain, and his pain was her pain from the beginning to the very end.
Horus didn't need an explanation from her, he knew who she meant, and his heart shattered while his mind gently itched on how she just knew. But he could figure that out later.
"How are we even alive? Those death eaters were right there. The fire should have killed us." Ella sniffed, looking around their grandfather's Astronomy tower.
Unsure of himself, Hours sniffed with a shrug, "I don't know, I've never felt that kind of magic before." Their father hadn't changed a single thing in the tower to their shock. In fear and shocked himself Horus held his sister to him like a natural lifeline. "Rosie? Talk to me?"
"I can-can't! I can't! It k-keeps repeating! MAKE IT STOP! HORUS! MAKE IT STOP!" Athella screamed, holding her head like a vise. The flashes of last moments Snape had endured had continued to repeat over and over again in her mind in an endless cycle, her spell had backfired.
Terrified and confused as to what his sister was screaming about, he quickly got the understanding that it was her mind that had been infected with something. Not wanting to harm her any more than she was suffering, however, she was suffering enough as it was, added pain to help his sister Horus made a decision he prayed he wouldn't regret. He was not going to allow his sister to continue to scream and beg for relief from the pain his hands latched over her hands holding her head, instantly his mind was subjected to the scenes and the pain. He saw the snake as if it were coming at him, the pain of his throat being cut, the fear, the sorrow, the regret, worst was the voice he heard in his ears, the pain and the words the voice spoke. At this moment, the twins shared a backfired spell, but Horus knew his sister's mind was weaker than his. Forcing his breathing to settle, he forced his lungs to breath to resettle his mind, no matter how terribly frightened he was his sister's screams were ringing clear in his ears, he had to wake her up. She had to be the one to break the connection. Her spell, her creation, thereby her unbinding to be done. But he only had one way to do, he needed help, she needed Severus Snape. The only person she had been begging for, to make the pain go away. She always ran to their father to make her pain go away. And he'd always had a way with taking it away. He was talented like that, but the visions Horus was seeing through his sister he knew their father wouldn't be able to help them. Or could he? He had called to her several times, and she had ignored his calls, mentally and personally, his mind was flashing between the visions and the scene that was taking place in the Tower, Ella was still holding her head in pain, crying for the pain to go away and her cries for her brother had turned to cried for their father, "Make it stop! Daddy make it stop!"
"Rose,"
"Daddy?"
"Our precious little Rose." His voice soothed the burning pain in her mind, his face soft and sorrowful that his child was hurting. "Wake up Rose, unbind the spell."
"WE CAN'T LOSS YOU TOO! You can't leave us as she did!" For that split moment, Ella was blaming their mother for leaving them, for purposely leaving the alone. But she knew, deep down, that their mother didn't have a choice, and her heart broke into pieces more so than before, regretting the words.
"Rose, there is nothing there but a larger void in the making if you continue to hold onto the connection. I am gone in body and mind. It's time to let us go." She knew he was right, she had to release the spell, otherwise, it would drive her mind into nothing, burning away at every corner that filled her skull. The spell would slowly kill her if she didn't release it.
"Ella? Wake up. Break the spell, please… I'm begging you… Mars and I can't lose you too." Horus's voice had broken threw, and with a painful and final look at Severus, she began to whisper the release spell. Finally feeling the searing pain lift from her pounding head Ella took a few deep painful breaths, "I'm sorry… I'm sorry…." She panted under her breath, her cries beginning all over again with her head rested against her brother's chest in wanting rest.
Smiling with pride and gratefulness, Horus sighed and knew there was nothing much else he could do to help her besides holding her in comfort and telling her what she needed to hear, "It's alright, come here. It's alright, we're safe, we're alive… We'll be okay. You, me and Mars, we'll be okay Rosie."
For a time, the twins sat on the Towers floor in one another's embrace, giving Athella the time they had to grasp in her heart and mind that they were alright. Moving to hug her brother Ella sighed in relaxation when a small bird-like purr caught her ears causing the girl to open her eyes and was shocked at the sight she found before her as she looked at a familiar creature perched on its stand, only he had a friend with him and his return brought a soft smile to her face as she stared at him, "Horus? I think I know how we survived." Ella said softly, her tears still running freely as she stared at two proudly perched Phoenix's.
Still confused as to how his sister always managed to get the answer before he had a chance half the time to think of one still astonished him, "What-" he was stunned silent at the same sight his sister was seeing.
Athella smiled, holding a handout to the familiar Phoenix, letting his recapture her scent then proceeded to gently pest his feathers, "Yeah… It's Fawkes… And he brought a friend with him." She stated, doing the same to the new Phoenix, she was gladly bewildered when it too allowed her to pet its feathers along its neck. Fawkes' friend was beautiful, red feathers so dark they were nearly black with a red shimmer when the light hit them just right, and bright gold eyes. "You are astonishingly beautiful. Who do you belong to?" Ella softly asked, her head turned with the new friend as its head gently turned and looked at her brother leading Ella to smile, "So, you both came to help us, huh?" she smiled sweetly as the new Phoenix gently nodded with a polite bow if it's head leaving the twins gently giggling at it, "Aren't you just a proper lady, friend." Horus said, switching spots with his sister, and took his own turn with gently petting the Phoenix's feathers. His words had overjoyed the Phoenix, closing its eyes and gently rubbed its face against Horus' neck and cheek. "Is that your name then? Lady? Then I take it you're a female then." His question had been happily answered by the Phoenix gladly ruffling its feathers and closed its eyes as a way to smile. "Well then, thank you for helping Fawkes save us, Lady."
Their time spent with the two Phoenix's the twins had forgotten about the current battle that had been given a timed reprieve to retrieve their dead. "Horus, didn't grandpa tell us that story of the Dumbledore family?" Ella asked, curiously questioning the two Phoenix's arrivals. Fawkes had come back after leaving when Albus Dumbledore had been killed, this was the first time they had seen the Phoenix since then.
Curious as to where she was going with this, Horus nodded, remembering the story as it had just been told yesterday. "Yes, Gramps told us that a Phoenix would come to the aid of any Dumbledore bloodline if they needed it. Why?"
"Mum was adopted by Grandpa… Meaning we have no blood relation to the Dumbledore family, let alone their bloodline legend… So, how is it that not only Fawkes came back to us, but also happened to have another Phoenix with him?" Ella asked in suspicion and curiosity.
Horus sighed, deep in thought knowing his sister had a point, this had given him the conclusion as to where she was going with this. They loved Fawkes dearly, but Ella was right… They were of no blood relation, so why was Fawkes here with another Phoenix, let alone saved their lives. "I don't know. Maybe Grandpa was just telling us a story, Ellie." Horus pointed out with a shrug, really, he had no idea. If she was right and the story was true regarding the Dumbledore bloodline, then Fawkes shouldn't have returned, let alone with another Phoenix.
Sighing with her own deep thoughts making circles in her mind. Ella huffed a bit as she petted Fawkes' feathers, glad to see him back with them, "Right, just a story." She grumbled under her breath. Her eyes never straying from Fawkes in curious thought. Her heart was still heavy from the memories of their father's death, the painful moments she had put herself through in hopes to keep the connection there into the afterlife, but the attempt had nearly burned her brain, leaving her drained and restless.
Horus smiled, watching his sister run circles in her mind and he couldn't help but gently laugh at her, "Ellie… Grandpa was gay, he never had any children except when he adopted Mum. Calm yourself, I'm pretty sure it was just a story his father and grandfather told him, something that was passed down through generations." Horus said, gently laughing as Lady continued to rub her face along his face and neck.
Ella sighed once again as she petted Fawkes and looked him over, glad she was finding him unharmed in any physical way, "Why did you come back Fawkes?" she asked in a soft whisper, smiling gently when he nosed her hand, yet worried when he's wings spread wide and flew up towards the top shelves of Albus's towering bookcase. The twins watched in wonder as Fawkes pulled an old leather-bound book and flew it into Athella's hands with his famous Phoenix cry.
Confused the twins shared a glance of curiosity, "Well, open it, Ella." Horus said with some excitement. Ella had hesitated for a moment and watched frozen as two old photos slipped from between the cover and the first page and fluttered to the floor. Their curiosity consuming them, Horus bent, picking up the two fallen pictures and stared with slight shock at them both, "Uh, E-Ellie?"
"Is that who I think it is Horus?"
"No, this picture is too old to be her."
"But she looks just like-"
"I know! ... I know, but the photo paper is too old, and look at the date, 1920 and her name is completely different, see, Anya Renee… There's no last name. Weird."
"Wait, there's something on the back." Ella said curiously, turning the photo to the back and found 'Our secret treasure' written on the bottom back half of the woman's photo, "Is it just me or was Gramps just a kooky old man that liked to leave life-long mysteries in his tracks?" It had come out as a joke, but Ella truly meant it, but at her brother's snorted laughter and agreeing nod, she knew he not only agreed but liked the comment, "And no, you are not the only one with that idea, nor conclusion. I figured that out last year." Horus grumbled as he sighed, taking one last moment look at the woman photo, shivering at the thought of her comparison to someone they had known. Handing the woman's photo to his sister he sighed and looked at the next one, two young men facing one another with the same woman wrapped in their arms rather intimately, "That's a bit bothersome… Gramps only loved one person, and that was a young man, right Ellie?"
"Yeah, I found one of his journals a year or so ago, Gelbert Grindelbald?" she asked herself in question. Trying to hold back her laughter at how terribly she had just tried to say the man's name.
Laughing at his sister's terribly failed attempt at the man's name Horus corrected her with heavy laughter, "Gellert Grindelwald. He never said anything about a woman though in their history. Honestly, I'm not only confused, but I'm a bit bothered." It was a bit hard for him to see his grandfather, young or older, holding a woman like he was in the picture, but they all looked happy, all three smiling as the sun shone just from them.
"Why? Because Gramps and the other guy are both holding her rather closely?" Ella teased, really they could have taken the picture for fun, out of spit for Albus and the boy he cared for so much, "Look, Horus, these two young men, likely gramps and Gellert, have this finger laced together and holding them all together with their other arm wrapped around the girl and the other, keeping them all three close. The girl is sandwiched between them like their all three together, likely it was taken to unnerve some of the locals if anyone even saw this. Maybe she took the picture like this with them for a form of a statement."
"What, like saying if she can accept them for their unique love then so could others? Okay that I kind of get, but as you said, she's sandwiched between them… I don't know, something just feels weird about this picture." Horus said with a small huff.
Ella smiled softly, "Horus, back then society didn't exactly like when… well, they didn't really like same-sex partnerships. But that shouldn't matter now, we loved gramps in life for himself, as do we still love him in death. Don't let this picture bother you, it's in the past, whether she was in their lives then she hasn't been there in their futures, why should we care anyway. She likely isn't even in their lives anymore, probably left when she figured out she wasn't going to end up with either one of them, some women, or men, think highly of themselves if they can find a gay or bisexual man or woman, and try to 'redirect' their likings, which I find absolutely offensive as a girl myself for someone to do that purposely even more. " Ella hated saying it, it felt wrong and nasty to her as the words left her.
She knew her grandfather had loved a young man in his youth, he'd admitted it to their mother when they were younger, and in her curiosity she went snooping and found a few of his past journals, though the oldest one she had found had gone back to the '40s, but Grindelwald had still been briefly mentioned in it, even his heartbreaking love for the man was in it. Having his name, Ella had dug up as much as she could about Gellert Grindelwald herself, but this woman had never, not once been mentioned in their grandfather's, nor Grindelwald's, history. Almost as if she had been erased, or simply vanished into thin air.
"Really, Ell? I completely didn't know that." Horus said a bit dryly.
His uncomfortably with the way the picture was placed and posed had caused Athella to giggle, "Honestly Horus, she was likely a close friend who married one of mum's ancestors back in the day that ended with her line being carried down to her than us, stop being so offended. It was likely just some crazy fun prank they were pulling. Like oh, here I am between to men who not only love one another, but they love me too, I'm so special." She laughed, hoping to bring a laugh for her brother, yet had received the opposite reaction… Athella had earned herself a glare, "Wow, you really hate the idea of them possibly having a history with a female? … Horus, it's not impossible for the same-sex partnership to fall for one person that's the opposite sex, it doesn't always happen, but it can happen. Chill your annoyance, would you? It's a picture. But for Gramps to actually have, intimate, feelings for a female, now that is a bit impossible. Relax brother of mine." Ella would admit she was rather annoyed with him now, and slightly offended, but she had a small suspension as to why he was being the way he was towards this image. Now she just needed to get him to admit to it.
But her rother had continued with his huffing and annoyance, "That just means they were bisexual El, not gay. I kind of like to keep the idea that Gramps was gay in my mind."
A bit stunned by his words, she knew she liked the idea that Albus had been gay also, it made him special to them, but this reaction from her brother was a bit of a shock, "Why?" Not having an answer Ella blinked a few times waiting for an answer until she gasped with a wide smile and clapped, "Oh Merlin! Who! Who Horus!"
"Shut up E."
"Oh, come on…. Horus Brian Dumbledore-Snape, when have we ever kept something like this from one another?"
"… Never," Horus grumbled as he huffed watching his sister cross her arms giving him a stern look and she patiently waited, "…. Mrgn." He muttered, but Athella had been unable to hear him and gave a look of confusion "Huh?"
"Morgan!" Horus shouted, blushing hotter than he had ever felt in his fourteen years. His confession had left him feeling a bit saddened, Morgan was not only older than him but 100% into females. "…Oh… Um, doe-does he know?" Now her fake shock was morphed into realization, she had definitely not expected that one coming. Then again, Morgan was attractive, but he was completely straight, there lay in the problem. The bigger problem was, Morgan had the one that made the silent suggestion to her that Horus was indeed likely bisexual or gay, something she had entirely overlooked, he had shown some interest in Sarah Malcolm.
Then again, she was a few years younger and she and her brothers had just lost their father, the poor kid had been the one to find him. Her thoughts had come around to thinking that Hours was just trying to cheer her up that Athella had never actually paid much attention until it was suggested to her.
Fearing she'd accidentally slipped it out during this dramatic and desperate time of their battle at their school and fellow students and family member's survival, Horus panicked, "No! And he won't because I'm still not entirely sure where my side is going anyways…"
"So, wait-"
"Later Ella, we have a fight to help finish," Horus grumbled. He just knew his sister was going to try to play match-maker now. But he'd confessed, weather he was unsure if he was gay or bisexual it hadn't mattered, he'd still been attracted to a male and he'd felt not only scared when he'd realized it, but he'd also felt emotions for a girl the last year as well, his confusion was nearly driving him up the wall crazy. "We're still finishing this conversation Horus."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah… Whatever," he grumbled, walking away from his sister to head back down to try helping anyone if they needed help.
Athella stood in place grinning as she held the book close to her chest as she watched her brother walk away, 'I can't believe I was almost right… Looks like I owe Morgan 20 Galleons... Possibly. I'd still like to know who she was.' Ella was sadly grateful about this happening; it took her mind off her breaking heart of their father. Something that would permanently be burned into her mind. This was going to take a while for her and Horus to heal from. Severus Snape had been the last thing they had aside from each other and their aunts and uncles.
Yet knowing he was still correct, Ella sighed, transfigured the journal into a necklace and smiled with pride. It had taken her a while, but she had slowly progressed with her transfigurations, working on that section a bit harder than she had her other classes, and she had succeeded, all thanks to her brother and her mother's notes. With a smile, Athella followed after her brother and back down the steps, Fawkes and Lady gliding behind them, but the scene they came face to face with was terrifying, "He already left Aunt Emma,"
"What- but… No, where did he go!"
"The Forest, he left several minutes ago. He's likely already there… I'm so sorry, Emma."
"Emma, breath, please breath," Dora begged the woman as she collapsed to her knees hyperventilating at the news she'd just received.
Worried for their aunt Athella walked out from around the corner, Horus' hand tightly in her grasp, "Aunt Emma? What's wrong?" Athella asked softly in worry.
Seeing the twin's, Emma dashed from her floored position Emma pulled them both into her arms and cried with relief for their safety.
"Emma, where's Harry?" Horus asked curiously, he was always with Ron and Hermione, "Is he with Draco?"
"Horus-"
"No, Ella it's okay… H-Harry's-"
"He went to the forest… To face Voldemort." Ron spoke up for his aunt, he heard her pain in her voice as she tried to tell the twins, knew she wouldn't have it in her to say the words. But the twins' reaction was equally heart-shattering. Ron hadn't expected the twins to run around Emma and try to run down the corridors, thankfully he and Dora had grabbed them both, "NO! LET US GO!" Ella screamed with panic, "HE CAN'T! HE'LL KILL HIM!" Horus shouted, fighting Ron's hold, "Horus, stop! Going after him won't help Harry one bit. He left to give us a chance… No matter how terrible this is, he's trying to save us." Ron harshly said to the fighting boy, he was hurting to, his best friend had just walked to his death with no intention of fighting. Fearful now they'd never find his body, Harry was the whole reason they fought that night, not just to kill Voldemort, but to protect him from a vile wizard that had no regard for love or loyalty to anyone but himself. Tom Morvolo Riddle could not love, it was impossible for history reasons regarding his family, all because his mother used a love potion on a man, the consummation resulting in Riddles birth had left him unable to love. Or so that was the rumor that had been floated around.
"We can't just let him-"
"We have to Horus! Emma, we should get them all back down to the great hall. I think they'll want to see someone." Dora said sternly to him, sad eyes turning from Emma to Ron, she hadn't the words to tell him about Percy, not even about Amos, how would they tell Alicia about her uncle let alone about Harry leaving. Fortunately for her, she didn't have to regard the last part.
Harry had gone to her himself, held her as close as he possibly could "I love you… Believe me when I say it. When this is over, we can finally have those days together we should have had a few years ago." He'd whispered into her hair gently, full of hope, longing, and sorrow. And Alicia heard it.
Alicia's already sad and heavy eyes refilled with more tears, looking into his face, his eyes were sad and hopeful, full of regret in his decision, thinking he'd never see her or any of them ever again, "You're lying… You're turning yourself over to him, aren't you... Aren't you! Why?! He-he'll kill you! Harry, you can't-" Harry had silenced her crying demands for answers with a deep kiss, "Just remember that I love you, Alicia Noelle Bonnet. If there were ever a person in this world, I'd rather spend the rest of my life with it would be you. Do me one favor?" he asked softly, his whispered breath tickling her forehead. If he was going to have one last satisfaction before he died it would be to hold her and ran his fingers through her hair.
A small smile gracing his lips at her silent and gently nod, he understood she possibly had no words, but he didn't want to see her tears before he died, he never wanted to be the cause of her pain, "No more tears." Harry held her tight and close to him, his eyes drifting over her shoulder into the great hall, teachers and students and staff alike were either injured or dead, covered by sheets to close their life story and shield their identity from others as they walked in or passed by. But his heart ached at the sight he saw behind her, the Weasley's huddled over a body and he felt dread sinking into his gut, hoping it was not one of the kids, yet he knew it was, all but one of the Weasley family was there.
Sirius and Remus giving what small amount of comfort they could to Morgan over a body he assumed maybe Cho or a different close friend of his. Gregory was nowhere in sight, likely keep a look-out around the castle to keep any other invaders from getting in. He quickly heard at how much damage the vampire had inflicted and the images that continued to infest his mind scared him terribly. But the man was immortal, unable to die. Kissing Alicia's brow one last time Harry walked off, knowing if he went to his father and the others, even the Weasley's, they would never let him go, nor out of their line of sight, his gut knotting into terrifying knots giving him the want to vomit the closer he got to the forest and the closer he got to the area Voldemort had requested him to meet him at. Harry knew he'd kill him the second he laid eyes on him, there was no doubt about that. But there was one thing he had to do first. The Resurrection Stone, he had to see his parents, he had to see James and Lily, at least once more before he died, then came the dee, sickening regret of not saying goodbye or at least seeing Emma and Sirius.
Forest
Taking a deep breath of courage, Harry pulled the Snitch from his pocket and placed it at his lips and smiled softly as he watched it open, presenting him with the Stone of Resurrection. Taking it in hand, Harry closed his eyes and thought of those he loved and wished he had known, yet fearful if he opened his eyes they wouldn't be there, yet his heart clenched painfully at those he saw now standing around him, all with smiling faces, smiles of sad pride to him, "Cedric?"
"Hey, Harry…"
"P-Percy? But ho-"
"I covered Fred from a blast, I didn't expect it to kill me, but at least my baby brother is alive and safe, give him and George a hug will ya? Tell mum and dad I love 'em, give my mum and Auntie a kiss for me? I never had the chance to tell any of them to thank you before I left them." Percy smiled sadly, going on with a small speech, one Harry knew he'd try to remember for the Weasley family and Emma. Yet the sight of Snape and Gabrielle shocked him, they had yet to say anything to him yet, but the small smile on Snape's face was enough for Harry to know he was at peace.
"Mum? Dad?" seeing them so close broke his heart, he was unable to fight the tears, then again, he didn't want to fight them, "Hello sweetheart."
"You've done so well son, we're so proud of you Harry." The words warmed his heart painfully, he'd been able to smile to them all, "It's almost over Potter, you've done well, a well Auror in the making. I'd hug ya if I had a body boy." Alastor said, resting his chin on his walking stick with a smile Harry had sworn he'd never seen on his face before. "Moody?"
"What? I look that different in death, damn, I guess dying was better on me than life." Alastor joked, leading everyone into a small round of laughter. Until realization of his close demise came back around full force. His smile had faded, and his eyes drifted over every single one of them. "Does it hurt? ... Dying, I mean…. What's-what's it like?" He had to ask, he didn't want any more pain than he already suffered, too much death, too much emotional, and physical pain, he just wanted to know if he'd be at peace quickly.
"Just like falling asleep Jamie," Gabrielle muttered up, her sad smile at him, a smile that hurt his heart. The pain her family had suffered, her kids, even Snape. He had seen his life in the Pensieve, the pain he saw in Snape's eyes when he lost Harry's mum to his dad, then the pain he saw in him when Gabrielle had run from him, but mostly the joy he saw in his life that she and their children had given him, the joy he had when Emma was around, he'd even began to enjoy being in the company of Remus, though rather slightly alright with being in Sirius's company. Worse was the pain he witnessed Snape endure when he'd found his mother dead in his nursery, his screams and cries still gave him shivers and the pain he whaled with when Remus walked in with Gabrielle in his arms, "I-I'm so sorry… I ne-never wanted any of you to die because of me, let alone for me-"
"Stop you're whining, Potter. We did it because we cared, we loved you in life as we do in death. We fought for life, yours and others... My children, and others, if the Order wins this war, will know a life of peace, even if it is painfully without their parents. But I know you'll all keep a careful watch over them. However, Mad-Eye is correct, you have potential. Though, I will admit that it would have been nice if I had the chance to know you as my nephew instead of an annoyance in my classroom as a student, same for Mr. Weasley…"
Coming from Snape, Harry knew that was his own way of saying he cared. His words had given Harry a reason to smile a bit more at the present situation of his pending death. Looking around them all his heart ached, feeling like he'd be all alone once again the moment he let go of the stone, "You'll stay close to me? The whole time, right? You won't leave me?" the thought scared him but saying the words had terrified him to near tears once again as his eyes drifted over each one of the spirits before him, "Always, Sweetheart,"
"We've never left,"
"We're right here,"
"With you from here"
"and until the very end." Each one had given their own little section to comfort his fears, and it worked. Yet his eyes drifted over to Snape, a different fear in his eyes as a specific thought came to him. "H-he can't see any of you, can he?"
"No, just you… Even if you can't see any of us Potter, there's no place you'll go, that we aren't with you or any of the others. We're always with you, the crazy lot of you. You're stuck with us I'm afraid." His sarcasm at the end was uplifting, even more so was his soft smile Harry had never seen on Severus Snape, "You know Snape, I think it would have been interesting if Ron and I had known you as our uncle… Stay close? Please?"
With a sad, smiling nod, Snape said something he'd only ever said a few times in his life, "Always,"
Satisfied with the meeting, Harry reluctantly let the stone fall from his hand, his eyes watching each of them fade, the sad smiles on James and Lily's face still saddened him, "I love you," the words slipped from him, there was understandably no regret, he'd been 'dying' to say it to them, but with them fading as they had been he had found them just slipping from him, therefore the words had escaped before he never had the chance to again in life to their faces. And their happy smiles he saw in their final moments to his eyes had made his path even more worth it.
Taking a deep breath in Harry continued on his path to end this once and for all. Emma had been killed at the Ministry, yet had survived again was it possible he'd be just as lucky?
** I APOLOGISE FOR MY EXTENDED ABSENCE! I will let you all know now, that even though I am proud this will be finished very shortly, I will be going back through the chapters sooner or later and finish the corrections and will possibly add a few things, but all and all nothing will be dramatically changed. So, stay calm :) Thank you for staying with me for this long and being so patient with my constant long-lasting absence. I know I hate having to wait so long too and I never meant to make you all wait this long. Writer's block I will admit had captured me.
