Chapter 22
We ended up needing to wait for a good hour or so for the entire Underground to get out of the place and to see the surface world above us, each of them being relayed the message about the plan of action as well as explaining what the moon was until everyone was out and we then went down the whole mountain and to what looked to be a pre-built camp site, complete with fire pit and picnic benches. We then got Undyne to chop up a giant tree into a whole bunch of wood and kindling wood in only 30 seconds time, us then building a fire to keep us warm as we then closed our eyes and fell asleep...
Only whenever I went into my dream world... it was the exact same as it was when Charlotte appeared in my mind. Pure darkness...
"Uh-oh... is... is there something going wrong?" I asked in confusion... but then something appeared in front of me... something that I was confused by. It looked... almost like the annoying dog... but he had the bloody eyes and mouth that Charlotte did when she was actively trying to kill me.
"So... you want to let this world live on? Which is against the entire point of this game?" the dog asked in a strangely demonic, yet familiar voice...
"What the hell are you talking about, Annoying Dog?" I asked, him smirking at that and doing a demonic cackle of his own, this one filled with Endogeny borks instead.
"Annoying Dog? Hah, don't be stupid... I'm the one who crafted every detail of those time loops that you got rid of forever... or have you?" the dog asked, me then gasping...
"T-Toby Fox?" I gulped, now knowing that this AU may not be safe at all anymore.
"This is going to be your final test, you idiot," the dog said as the tune then played. The "You Idiot" tune... which was intentionally designed to sound super scary. "If you want to know what my wonderful idea was, it was to make this world a playground for the players to let loose whatever they wanted... sure, they could always be nice, but we all know how much of a bitch human curiosity can be... even to those who didn't do Genocide, such as yourself, you still wanted to know what it had in store... so you look up playthroughs and wikis about the horrors of Genocide, finding enjoyment in learning the suffering that these denizens endure... they're all just puppets on strings!" Toby exclaimed with a vicious growl, me frowning at him and feeling something inside of me. Some kind of power. A power that would not let this... THING do whatever it pleased! I immediately raised my hand to the air and I could feel it. My mom, my dad, GG, and even Charlotte. They were giving me power... the power to stop this mad creature... and out of my hand then came the deadliest weapon in the Genocide Run, the Real Knife. And around my neck emerged The Locket, the strongest armor in Genocide.
"Hmph, seems your friends are trying to help you... but at what cost? At any point, I can just reset this pointless existence with a simple command. And you cannot do a thing to stop me," Toby smiled as he then showed the two options... Continue and True Reset. "Now all I have to do is-" Toby was about to say before something incredible happened. Before Toby could touch the True Reset button, a flurry of bones emerged from the ground that trapped the demonic dog in a cage of bones! And then, shortly after, 23 different Gaster Blasters all lined up in a circle and utterly atomized the True Reset button! And Toby was shocked at this.
"not today, bastard," I heard Sans say from outside of my head, Toby growling at that angrily. "kid, this is the final challenge of the game. you can only win this by killing this abomination. once you do that, we're all home free! so don't give up, no matter what happens!" Sans exclaimed in lowercase, which he never did in the games, me then hearing some other voices too.
"NGAAAHH! Indie! Don't let this stupid mutt push us around any longer! Teach him a lesson and make our world free forever!" Undyne exclaimed.
"YES! FREE! MAKE THIS DOG GO TO HEAVEN SO WE ALL CAN BE FREED FROM OUR IMPRISONMENT!" I heard Jevil exclaim next, me feeling ever stronger with every friend that backed me up.
"THAT'S RIGHT, INDIE! JUST DO WHAT I ALWAYS DO! BELIEVE IN YOU!" Papyrus exclaimed, me nodding at that.
"Darling, you have to win this fight! Show him why you are the star in this adventure!" Mettaton exclaimed, me smirking as I could feel my body begin to get even more powerful.
"Yo, Indie! I don't know what exactly is going on in that head of yours, but you can't give up yet! I don't want my best friend to lose a fight so important as this one! Prove you're the coolest human ever!" MK said, me smirking as I then felt the voices of numerous other monsters as I could feel an aura of strength pour over me... and I literally glowed with a shining radiance, Toby smiling at me.
"Ah, the old 'my friends are my power' cliche, is it? Well, when I'm finished with you, all of your friends? I'll just erase them in an instant... now let's fight," Toby smiled wickedly as darkness then enveloped him and I heard some odd noises... and then, when he appeared in front of me again, I felt like I was an ant facing Goliath. Toby had changed himself into a giant amalgamation of dog parts with a television screen for his head, his giant arms being large tails, his face being comprised of dog snouts, and there being a large hole in the center of the two combined snouts that looked like it was from Endogeny. He then laughed maniacally in tons of borks and barks that sounded like a spooky version of Dog Song, me holding my knife in hand as he then began to attack me... and the moment he happened to nick me with one of his attacks, it being a Mettaton leg attack, something awesome happened. The blast that happened after it connected to my soul managed to make some text appear as well as make the dog demon shiver in shock.
"Toby's DEF has dropped to 0!" the text said, me smirking at that as I then was about to FIGHT him, but Toby growled angrily.
"Oh no you don't!" Toby exclaimed as he then connected a large laser blast at the Fight button and I saw that he was trying to destroy it! I sent my soul in the way of the laser and the blast afterwards made Toby hiss as some more text appeared.
"Toby's ATK has dropped to 1!" the text said, me smirking at that as I then pushed the fight button and, with my Real Knife, I then rushed at Toby's gigantic body and slashed him at least fifteen times all over his giant body, the result being awesome. His body had been sliced clean all the way over with blood splattering everywhere and Toby being on death's door as MERCY and FIGHT appeared shortly after, me knowing this was a trick... because they were in Wingding language and the Mercy option was actually where FIGHT normally was and vice-versa.
"Go ahead... kill me... I dare you," Toby said, me smirking and choosing the right option, choosing FIGHT and Toby gasping as I then slashed him once again and again as he then tried to speak. "NO! D-DON'T! I... I beg of... you..." Toby cried before he started to whimper until his form then disappeared into a puff of smoke, his soul remaining and it being completely black in color, me then slashing right through it with a single strike, the soul shattering to dust shortly after, me panting in and out from having to do that... it was the only time that I had to fight someone. And I only killed them so that this world wouldn't be in trouble anymore... I then heard and saw Charlotte appear next to me as my dream gained its colorful schemes again.
"I know you feel bad for this murder... but know that if you hadn't killed him, he'd reset everything, undoing all the good that you accomplished..." Charlotte said, me sighing at that.
"I know... I couldn't let a madman rule over this world as a puppet master... the people in this universe deserve the best, not the worst," I sighed as I then felt her wrap her arms around me and I smiled as I hugged her back, followed by the other members in my head hugging me shortly after.
"We're proud of you, hon..." dad smiled at me.
"We'll support you all the way, never forget that," mom sniffed, me seeing that she was crying.
"Yeah... you'll be a great ambassador... I'm sure of it," GG said, me smiling at their warmth and their touch happily.
"Thanks, guys..." I smiled as I then woke up from the dream shortly after.
When I opened my eyes, I saw that everyone was watching over me and they all breathed a sigh of relief after I got up, though I was a bit groggy.
"Oh, what a relief.. you're awake. We were scared stiff!" Toriel said with a sigh, her going over and helping me up off the ground, me barely able to get up without assistance. I felt sore all over for some reason.
"So that guy that created the time loops... he's the one that tried to attack you in your dreams this time? Why would he do that just to see us suffer?" Aaron asked as I noticed he was right next to his brother, me sighing afterwards.
"Toby Fox was his name... I have no idea why he'd do all of these things... all I do know is that Toby was actually in this universe as a manifestation of himself... he was in the form of the Annoying Dog," I said, Papyrus frowning at that.
"I KNEW THAT MUTT WAS NOTHING BUT TROUBLE THE MOMENT HE STOLE ALL OF MY BONES FROM MY CLOSET!" Papyrus said, me smiling at that.
"hey, kid?" Sans said, me looking at him with a smile. "i don't know why i'm thinking this... but when we get to the nearest human settlement and when we get settled down with the humans... what do you say if i offer to get us into an amusement park?" Sans asked, me smirking at that.
"That sounds perfect," I smiled at him.
"hehe... to think that a dog was the cause of the world's time loops being put into place... now i'm finally freed from my eternal hell," Sans said, Chara smiling at that.
"Indeed... all of us are free," Chara smiled.
"Ueeheehee! Freedom for all and all for freedom! This is the greatest day of my entire existence!" Jevil snickered from Chara's head, me smiling at that.
"Right, let's go show the humans that the monsters are freed... and how nice we can be," I smiled, everyone of us then proceeded down the path in front of us until we got to the nearest human settlement, it being a small village with some sights that made me confused. It looked like the humans were using some technology that was modern, but also used other tools that were used back in the 1800s, such as their clothes being made from cotton, Flax, and leather, them using farming tools instead of modern inventions, and the houses having old-fashioned antennas instead of the more modern ones... meanwhile they also had cars that looked like they belonged in the mid-1900s, including one that I knew Papyrus could have fun with, it being a red car with an retractable roof.
"Huh... so where are the giant swords and super fighting robots at?" Undyne asked, me smirking at that.
"Um... you want to tell her, Alphys?" I asked, her sighing and shaking her head at that.
"Keep in mind, Undyne, that stuff from the history books and movies I showed you? They were printed about a hundred years ago, so civilization may have changed drastically since then," Alphys said, Undyne frowning at that.
"Dangit," Undyne frowned, but I guess it was a better way to tell her that then to say that it was all fabricated. But then the humans noticed us and looked a bit surprised, them looking to take up arms when they saw us approach... but when they saw me and Chara in the front of the pack, they looked confused, yet still held their ground with their weapons in hand, which included pitchforks, scythes, spears, and even fire pokers.
"Hey there, everyone... you're all probably wondering what's going on, aren't you?" I asked, one of the humans in the group then speaking.
"Yes, very much so. We thought that you monsters were extinct after the great war!" he said, me frowning at that and shaking my head.
"No, that's not the case. After the war happened, humanity trapped all of monster kind underneath Mount Ebott... only with the power of 7 human souls would the seal keeping them trapped would be destroyed... and today, I am happy to inform that the barrier is destroyed, and we plan to be very peaceful to everyone," I said, a female human of the group then stepping up.
"And why would we trust you? And where are the 7 humans that you say destroyed the barrier?" she asked as she held her scythe in hand.
"Well... first, how about you put down your weapons? We mean you no harm and we promise that the humans are still very much alive... just not in their original bodies," I said, the humans frowning at that second statement, but they did put down their weapons after I asked politely.
"You see, many years ago, the first human fell down a crack in Mount Ebott... and that human was me, Chara Kater..." Chara said, me smiling at that last name before one of the crowd gasped at that.
"C-C-Chara? As in, the same Chara that went missing 200 years ago? The one that was linked to a family full of abusers and killers?" one of the crowd asked, Chara sighing at that.
"Yes... shortly after I fell Underground, I requested that my new brother, Asriel, take my soul to the surface and take 6 more from the humans... at the time, I wanted souls from this village, since it was where I came from... we planned to get them from the graveyard nearby... but when they saw him carrying my dead body, they thought he killed me... they then beat him nearly to death and, combined, we both fell down into Mount Ebott and died... our soul remained, but our body was forever gone... my spirit was all that was left of me while Asriel's spirit was sent into a golden flower seed," Chara said.
"And through a ton of convoluted stories that would take way too long to explain in one day, Indie Gamma, this human here, managed to resurrect me and Chara from death, saved a large group of monsters that were lost in an alternate plane of existence, and, using the souls of 6 humans that had fallen before her and Chara's soul, she had me destroy the barrier with the power of 7 human souls, me then giving each of the 6 souls to our monster friends," Asriel said, the humans growling at that before I held my hand in the air.
"Listen, like I said, we don't mean anyone any harm. We just want to have a happy ending, one where monsters and humans can coexist in harmony and without discrimination... they've had it very rough, being trapped under a mountain for centuries. Please, do you think that we can reside here so we can prepare spread the word all over?" I asked, the humans looking at each other and then at me and then a single human coming from the back of the pack who wore very expensive clothes, most likely the mayor.
"We will allow that to happen. But if your monster friends attack any of our denizens, you must leave," the guy said, me nodding at that.
"We have already agreed on that part before we even arrived here. No monster is to ever hurt a human with intent to harm and we are to never use soul powers again... that's how the whole war started in the past, after all," Asgore spoke, the mayor nodding at that.
"Very well, then... everyone, make sure you be hospitable to our new guests... we will allow you three days to get prepared," the mayor said, me smiling at that.
"Thank you, mister," I said politely.
"You're welcome... by the way, how do you have that kind of hair on you?" the guy asked, me smiling at that. He was referring to the fact that my hair was colored in certain parts, it having purple streaks in a few areas.
"I basically painted purple on my hair to make it a different color. My hair is actually naturally blonde, but I don't like being blonde," I said, the mayor looking confused at that as well.
"What does blonde mean?" he asked, me facepalming at that.
"Well, I guess that I'm going to have to explain that part, aren't I? The part that none of you might believe at all," I sighed. "I actually come from an alternate reality... one where the world is much worse off, despite not having monsters at all... I was warped to this one directly inside of Mount Ebott after a freak accident and plan on staying in this world..." I said, the mayor frowning at that.
"What was this world like?" he asked.
"Technology was super advanced all over the place, but humanity was in a very bad state of mind due to a deadly virus that swept across the planet. And it caused everyone to go so far into insanity that people were attacking and killing each other, the law enforcement was being taken apart for crime to run rampant, and the politicians praised the criminals and berated the policemen and president... please, tell me that nothing like that has happened in this world?" I asked, the guy smirking at that.
"Your world sounds terrible... much different than our world. We have a lot of good things in this world and the only disease we have is common colds and flus. Nothing bad ever happens," the mayor said as Undyne then smirked at that.
"And what about the giant robots and fantasy princesses? Where are those things at?" Undyne asked, the mayor looking at her in confusion.
"Um... what are you talking about? Aren't those from cartoons and comic books?" the mayor asked, Undyne looking at Alphys and me and me sighing.
"Sorry, Undyne... I know you want to believe that anime is real, but... okay, I'm just going to say it... anime is a cartoon created by humans as a type of fantasy for entertainment... it isn't human history," I said, Undyne shaking a bit before then sighing. "Sorry, we didn't want to tell you because of how much you loved anime... you're not mad, are you?" I asked, Undyne shaking her head at that.
"No, I'm not mad... just baffled," Undyne sighed.
"Well, at least you turned into an awesome warrior who can turn an entire tree into firewood in less than a minute, right? That's one thing you can thank anime for doing," MK smirked, Undyne smiling at that.
"You know what, you're right! Anime may not be real, but I'm anime incarnate!" Undyne smirked.
"Let's not get in over our heads, deary. Ahuhuhu!" Muffet giggled as I saw a couple different humans retreat behind the others when they saw her.
"Don't be scared, guys. Muffet's very nice and sweet to everyone, so long as you're nice to her spiders," I smirked.
"Would you like some spider pastries? First one is always free," Muffet smiled happily as she used her six arms to bring out two ciders, two bagels, and two donuts, all of them having spiders in or on them.
"Uh, no thanks, maybe another time," the mayor said, Muffet smiling at that as we then went into the town itself and got down to preparations... soon we would finally live our life of freedom in a new world.
