Chapter 51
He'd found their large group, Harry found his palms sweating more than they had previously, he was not only finally at his final destination, but Voldemort had brought his entire following party of Death Eaters, smiling gladly at him as he walked out from the tree, "Harry Potter? Finally, come to die then?"
Hagrid's presence there was clearly a shock and left Harry confused, though seeing the binds the half Giant was currently in, Harry had assumed he had been captured, clearly tortured from the looks of his physical state as he shouted, begging the boy to run, "GET 'UT OF 'ERE 'ARRY!"
Death Eaters surrounding him pulled harshly on the ropes binding him in an attempt to hold him back as he tried rushing to protect the boy, fear swelling in his body. Fear that had not been comparable to the pain that shocked through his body as multiple Cruciatuis curse hit him, sending the Gamekeeper to his knees with a painful scream, "NO!" Hagrid's wale soared through the air, echoing through the forest, scattering what little animals were around the area.
"SILENCE!" Voldemort screeched, his rage turning into excitement as he turned his eyes to the boy that had continued to escape him, raised his wand and screamed his favorite curse.
He had expected the pain of losing the Horcrux, he had felt the pain each time one was destroyed, a piece of him dying and moving to the afterlife, an afterlife he'd always feared. The pain of Emma's 'death' had hurt tremendously, the previous had hurt to his core, like his heart and internal organs being twisted and ripped from him, that was the pain he was expecting. Only it wasn't the pain he'd experienced as soon as the curse made contact with the boy as a powerful shockwave soared outwards, knocking many, to nearly all, off their feet. The pain left the Dark Lord curling in the dirt with difficulty breathing. His heart had clinched and twisted, choking him and sending a tingling sensation through his body as he attempted to breathe. Flashes of white and black swirls clouding his vision as a distorted voice off in the distance, "That is a part of him that cannot be saved, unfortunately." A voice mumbled through his ears.
Coming back to his senses, Voldemort had attempted to stand, staggering and rather unbalanced feet, shoving Bellatrix off away from him when she'd attempted to help him, "I do not need your help Bellatrix…Useless woman." He muttered cruelly.
His harsh and hurtful words had led Bellatrix to look down to the ground then out towards the boy, "Is-is he dead?" she asked with worry. Her retreat after the first battle had led her to debate if she should inform Voldemort of Emma's living state yet still found herself unable to say a word of the woman. Bellatrix still had no idea why she couldn't speak up against her, even after challenging Bellatrix to fight her she couldn't, and hadn't said a word of Emma to anyone. But her lord's reaction was terrifying that she worried Harry was not dead because Emma herself had not died in that duel against Voldemort.
All watched Narcissa quickly move towards the still body of Harry Potter and knelt, feeling for a pulse. No one realizing she had in fact been asking the boy of Draco and Finn's safety and take a breath of relief with his nod and took a breath, recollecting herself as she picked up Harry's fallen wand then slipped it up her sleeve and stood straight with a firm and plain, heartless look, "Dead."
"Fantastic. I can feel it, he is gone. There is no life left in him. Come! You, useless creatures, carry the 'precious' boy you've all tried so hard to guard and protect back to the lambs for slaughtering." Voldemort had tried being snide and laugh at Hagrid's obvious pain, yet his weak state and current pain that still shot through him had left him unable to do so as he watched the balling Game Keeper of Hogwarts pick up the boy and slowly made their way towards the castle. Giving the restless Harry a chance to relax in safe arms that had taken him from the destruction of his parents' home of Godric's Hollow to the Dursley's that had led him into the arms of the Weasley Family then back to his dear Aunt and Uncle.
Hogwarts
Walking into the Great Hall, what was left of it, glancing around Emma's eyes fund several covered bodies lying on the floor available with others next to a body mourning the loss or off on the benches with one another. One body, in particular, had drawn her attention was the body of the third year, a couple of friends crying over her cold and still open eyed body. Always being unnerved by the idea of leaving the dead's eyes open, Emma moved to her and gently closed the girl's eyes, finally pulling the cover-up over her young, precious face, her short, dark, hair still clearly seeable through the white fabric allowing the realization of their dear friend's loss the small group brock down once more.
"This is all your fault, Sally!"
"How! Rebecca jumped in front of her, Claire! She didn't pull Becca in front of her. Sal didn't even see the rocks coming down! You're such a jerk! I can't believe she called you her best friend if you're going to sit there and tell her own little sister it's her fault her sister when she protected her! She's a kid, we all are! I cannot believe you."
"Are you kidding me, Perry! Becca always jumped in front of her, it was like the girl was on some kind of mission or something!" the girls screamed back and forth.
Stunned with disbelief by this, someone piped up, coming to Sally's defense, "Hey! Will you two knock it off," A boy shouted, coming to Sally's defense as he glared heatedly to the two arguing, "Sally is the one who lost the sibling. You lost a friend. She grew up with this girl. Instead of thinking of your own conceded, selfish and high and mighty self, Claire, why don't you think about a different person's life and heartache." He continued scolding them, but their eyes were transfixed on him. Goggling at his charming short, sandy blond hair he'd gotten from his mother, but he was an identical replica of his father. Still a growing boy, he was like a prince charming with the strong possibility of a strong jawline once fully grown, he was a handsome boy, one that had been blessed.
"Rubeus-"
"No, Sal. Don't say it's okay, it's not." He snapped. Grabbing her arm, he pulled Sally to her feet and walked her away from the two arguing friends. "Is it just me or has he been showing some interest-"
"Shut up Claire," Perry snapped in disbelief at the girl, walking away herself, there was no way at that moment Perry was going to be able to put up with Claire's unbelievable personality. That day was Perry's final straw as she walked after Rubeus and Sally, finally catching up to the two of them she pulled the second year into her arms, in hopes to comfort the girl and bring her out of her shocked state.
Emma walked towards the Weasley's with Hermione, Ron and the twins with Dora behind them, making sure none of the kids ran out to go after Harry to their own deaths. But the tears and heartache they walked up on hurt terribly as they watched Molly crying into Percy's chest, running her fingers through his tight curls as Ginny and Arthur sat next to her, resting a comforting hand on her mother's shoulder while Arthur rubbed her back in comfort as they all cried for their lost son or brother.
The shock of the body lying on the floor had drained Ron from any color he had left, sending the ginger into a wailing cry and falling to his knees with Hermione hugging him, shedding tears of her own for the loss of the Weasley Family. "H-how did this happen?" Ron asked through his tears, looking up to his mother.
"He shielded Fred from a blast," Arthur answered, sniffing back his pain as he watched the rest of the family mourn the loss. They'd have more time after this war was finished. Even if they didn't win, his family and the Order would make time for those they lost last night. But Arthur's pain was more than what many would think. He had told his sons to stay near him, but Percy had gone out to the balcony of the tower after a Dark Wizard that had tried killing one of the twins previously. Arthur hadn't had the chance to run after Percy, in hopes to stop him to keep him near, knowing if he ran from the twins, those coming in after another would get both Fred and George.
Arthur felt responsible for the loss of Percy.
Emma's eyes glanced around one more time around the Great Hall and watched with a clinching heart as Professor Trelawney covered the face of one of the Patil twins, leaving her sister in whaling tears as Emma continued to pan her eyes around and found Finn sitting off with Luna and Lavender talking to Draco, who looked like he and Finn had gone a round or so, both boys brandishing freshly busted lips and red knuckles. By the looks of their calm state with Luna and Lavender both leaning against Finn's arms in self comfort and to give him comfort in return as Luna held onto Draco's hand, likely a way of getting him to remain calm and to not wing anymore punches at his cousin that Emma was able to see the two boys had settled their problems in their brawl they had gone through.
Alicia was sitting off near the walls on the seats with Morgan and Gregory, who were currently in the moment of meeting one another and explaining Alicia's history and family origins. But her soft smile was something Emma was able to clearly see-through. She was trying to hide her fear and sorrow over Harry, Emma knew Harry had to of seen her before he left, he loved her, even with not having spent as much time as the two had like too, she knew they were passionately connected. Something Sirius and Emma had when they laid eyes on one another. But she knew the young redhead was enjoying the history lesson from someone who had known the first child of the original founders of Hogwarts, that's something Emma would have enjoyed also, Helena Ravenclaw, the daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw. But it wasn't just about Alicia's history. Gregory had told her how he'd met Morgan, who'd sadly watched his father, Amos Diggory, fall to his death with enemies surrounding him, something Alicia had broken down over his covered body Gregory had dug up for a burial afterward. Morgan and Gregory had both held Alicia back from uncovering Amos's body, "It's better you remember him as he was."
"Emma!" Sirius shouted rushing towards her and Dora, hugging them both with the relief of their safety then pulled the twins into his arms checking them both over.
Remus's eyes caught Athella's new piece of jewelry around her neck he studied the handy work, knowing very well that the last time he'd laid eyes on her she hadn't had a necklace. "What's this?"
"Um, I-I found it in Grampa's Astronomy tower." Athella tried lying, she was never good at lying, so why she thought she'd succeed in doing so, to Remus nonetheless, was beyond her.
Horus had looked at his sister with confusion as to why she didn't just tell them, thinking the Order Member's, at least a few of them, may have an insight into what their grandfather's old journal was hidden from other's eyes and so high up from the ground.
Raising his brow in confusion and suspicion Remus left it there, "We'll talk about that later young lady."
Knowing she had been caught, Ella nodded her head softly in small shame, "Yes sir."
Hearing her voice, the Weasley's had lifted their heads quickly, and seeing her dark, black hair and strip of natural blond at her temple of her head, Fred took off towards them and lifted her up into his arms, hugging her with a vise. With his eyes drifting to Horus, Fred pulled the boy into their hug, glad to know they were both alright, "What the hell happened to you two?"
"Fawkes and another Phoenix saved us, like when Gramps used Fawkes to escape from Fudge when they attempted to arrest him," Horus explained, it was a good example as to what happened, there was only one way to explain it really. But it was astonishing how it had happened. Maybe Albus Dumbledore's story of the Phoenix and the Dumbledore line was just a story, and for now, that was how they were going to keep it until they knew otherwise.
"That was strong magic, you're saying that was two Phoenix birds?" Dora questioned, sharing a confused response with the current group members around the twins as they nodded. "That was more like a pack of Phoenix Birds, the fire that emanated from them was so strong it killed the Death Eaters coming after you both. Nothing was left, not even ashes." Emma clarified.
"Professor McGonagall! They're coming down the bridge!" Neville shouted, running into the Great Hall with a painful limp, "They have Hagrid in ropes… Looks like he has something in his arms." he clarified, terror clearly in his face, obviously under the impression, he knew what, or who, Hagrid held in his arms. The information had scattered every one from inside out into the courtyard to meet the coming group of Followers of Voldemort. Neville's words had sent fear through everyone dear to Harry James Potter, and those who cared so deeply for the boy. But the sight was painfully unbearable for many, especially Emma and the remainder of the Marauder's and his friends.
"Harry Potter is dead!" he laughed, leading many others to join into his laughter.
Alicia's heart thudded in her chest, skipping a beat at first, but as the words left Voldemort, the redhead let out a heart-shattering cry, her feet moving forward towards Hagrid and Harry's body. Yet in a panicked fear, Ginny and Lavender quickly grabbed Alicia and held her back, shushing her tears in their arms between them as they calmly sat on the ground, knowing they themselves, wouldn't be able to hold her up with as tired as they were.
Emma's legs gave out, overcame by disbelief and sorrow and unable to breath as Sirius wrapped his arms around his wife, holding her in his arms as her tears rolled down her face as the Dark Lord began boasting to them all, but sadly targeting Alicia for her shout of loss over Harry, "You stupid girl! Harry Potter is dead. Your problems are all over, no need to fear death for protecting a dead boy. Now, I am sure many of you would love to continue fighting. However, I 'd suggest against that. Join me, and I'll graciously spare your life. Serve me and I'll let you live under… reasonable rules… Come now, no need to be shy, step forward!" yet as he planned his eyes around with a victorious grin, Voldemort's eyes fell on dark red hair and green eyes in the arms of the Black's eldest son that had not only refused his rule, but had defaulted rather quickly against him. "Aw, dear Emma, and here I assumed you were dead, I'm sure I can find something… 'lively' for you to do." he gingerly said with entertainment, as if he'd just been crowned Overlord.
His words had clearly disturbed many around, not only Emma and Sirius, but Voldemort's grinning smile slowly began to fall with his fading patience as he'd begun to realize no one was willing to step forward. He honestly hadn't expected anyone to step up to join him, however, he was slightly overjoyed and shocked when a boy began to slowly limp forward with a rugged, patched up old thing clenched tightly in hand causing Voldemort to laugh, unsure as to what the object was hat was being held. It wasn't so much his bleeding and busted up pained look he held on his face it was the reactions of everyone that watched him move forward but the looks of shock, disbelief, and saddened anger at the boy, "What is your name, young man."
"Neville Longbottom," the name had in fact driven him and his followers to laughter, though Bellatrix had only laughed from the fact she knew the boy, his parents mostly, and had every intention to make him suffer more when he was given rank in her Dark Lords forces, "You have courage, and bravery, strength even! You shall make a very well Death Eater in the near future dead boy!".
However, the moving speech the boy began had moved the Lestrange woman to navigated sickness as their broken enemies began to regain their lost courage and hope. "I'll join you when Hell freezes over!" This truly stunned all in hearing range, those who care for Neville feared for his life instantly, "It doesn't matter if Harry's gone. He's still with us! We've lost more than just Harry tonight. Percy, Professor Flitwick! Parvati and Rebecca, and others! They didn't die in vain! But he will!" Neville shouted, pointing to a laughing Voldemort, it seemed one more soul stood in his way of gaining rule over the Wizarding world, another pain in the ass boy, one whose parents had been victims of his group, at the hands of his own Lieutenant, "You will Tom Riddle, you're a coward! Harry's helped us, stood by us! We fought for each other and our futures. Are you all really willing to give that up so fast? Because I'm not, I'm still breathing! And so are you!"
-I know that's not Neville's real speech but I tried being kind of close but kind of different, so I hope you all approve and like it! –
Tired of hearing the boy shouting on words of encouragement, Voldemort laughed, "Nagini! Kill him." Obeying her friend and master, the snake slithered away from Voldemort's side and towards the still speaking boy, his back turned to her, just like she liked it, seeing their dead or dying eyes was never something she liked witnessing, the eyes of her own and Voldemort's victims still haunted her to that day.
Everyone's eyes watched with horror as Luna's eyes watched the scene frame by frame in slow motion as she took a painful breath with hot tears stinging her eyes, "NEVILLE!"
His heart raced with shuttering fear as he watched Luna's body and platinum blonde hair fly past him, "Luna!" Moving quickly, Finn reached out and grabbed her rather harshly, jerking her back into his arms and held her to him and away from the second round of the Battle about to take place, "Luna! NO! I AM NOT LOSING YOU TOO!"
"Neville!"
"Longbottom, RUN!"
The silent spell had left her wand before she even realized anything, everyone staring wide with shock one of his own high classed followers had turned on him. Fear swallowing up inside Emma's gut, clenching her heart as she watched with shuddering horror as Narcissa stood, baffled by her own actions, wand raised at Nagini. The curse had bounced off the snake, yet had startled her enough to redirect her attention and coiled her body tightly together, protecting herself from the Witch that had dared to attack her, watching Narcissa move from her husband's side, off in her own area between the two forces staring the Dark Lord down with fierce determination as hot tears rolled down her face, "You will not touch him."
"N-Narcissa-"
"You, treacherous bitch! How dare you!" Voldemort screeched with rage, just as he'd raised his wand Harry quickly rolled out of Hagrid's arms barely catching himself on his feet.
Seeing him up and on his feet, Narcissa smiled weakly as they made eye contact, and just as quickly as a curse shot from Voldemort's wand, Narcissa Malfoy tossed the wand out of her hands towards the boy. Voldemort was distracted from Harry, as was everyone else, all eyes on her still form in dreaded horror.
A painful scream tore through Emma's chest and lungs as she watched the curse sore through the sky, it was Godric's Hollow and the Ministry's execution room all rolled into one mix, her worst nightmare was coming alive once more. She was losing a close friend and a sister all over. She had tried fighting against Sirius's hold, his words never reaching her.
"NO!"
"Remus, no!"
"Let me go!" He shouted, struggling against the twins and Dora, will Fleur, Bill and Arthur held a waling Molly.
"MUM!"
"Draco!" Finn shouted, grabbing Draco and fought against his struggle, he'd sworn he'd keep Draco alive, and he wasn't going to let the boy run out and get himself killed now, even if he himself wanted to rush out and tear the man apart. The blonde hadn't stopped fighting him until Ginny had rushed over to help him hold Draco back with tears of her own for the boy's pending loss.
Narcissa hadn't moved, not even an inch, no one had witnessed Lucius moving from his position in hopes of reaching his wife, in an attempt to save her, it wasn't until the flash of green faded had they seen it was not one, but two bodies, that lay still in the courtyard, Lucius's his arms around his wife, and hers in mid-acceptance was how they had fallen and how they stayed as Harry screamed a curse in a rage towards the snake to draw it farther from Voldemort.
The sudden realization of Harry's living state had continued to baffle the Death Eaters and terrified Voldemort. Two Horcruxes, as of now, had returned from the dead, two had died by his hand, and two he now saw standing, alive as ever before. Voldemort had realized then that he had been the only cause of his own death. By killing the pieces of his life in Emma and Harry, Tom Morvolo Riddle had doomed himself.
Seeing his chance, Neville drew the sword from the Hat and rushed to kill Nagini.
Finn had turned after tossing a screaming Luna, who was still trying to get to Neville, into Bill's arms "Neville, no!"
Seeing the Longbottom boy rushing his final lifeline to life, Voldemort swiftly sent the boy flying backward, watching in satisfaction when Finn rushed the fallen boy and carrying him off then watched Harry rush off, constantly looking over his shoulder at him. And with a raged growl, Voldemort took the bait.
Running in through a side door just as McGonagall was sealing it closed with a charm, Harry grabbed Ron and Hermione, pulling the two aside, "The snake, we have to separate them, draw her away from him and kill her, that's when we can finally get him on equal ground."
With an agreed nod, Hermione handed her Basilisk fang to Harry, and the three splits up. Harry drawing Voldemort and Nagini up the stairs away from others, while Ron and Hermione moved close behind, waiting for Harry to get Voldemort away from Nagini enough for them to kill her.
The rest of the D.A and Order member's jobs were to keep as many of the Death Eaters from going to Voldemort's aid. This, however, had left many facing their past or current enemies.
"Can you scream for me little girl," a rasped voice spoke softly into Emma's ear from behind, a strong grip choking her as he laughed, "Damn you A-Avery-" she choked out between pants, trying to fight him off her. She had done well years ago but supposed she had allowed herself to become out of practice when Sirius returned. Realizing she had yet to use her wandless ability and her defense skills she knew she'd had when Sirius had taught her, Emma grinned at her own stupidity for forgetting such an advantage. Bringing up her leg, she kicked back into his knee then dug the heel of her boot into his leg and scrapped downward, ripping an even more painful scream from him.
In his pained state Avery had loosened his hold as his leg began giving out and bent to hold it in instinct giving Emma the opportunity to bring her elbow up and connected with his face, sending him toppling back into two solid forces that spun him to face two tall, very pissed off looking men. That of Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, "I've been waiting a long time for this,"
"I'll have to agree with that Pads,"
Fear had drained the color from his previously grinning face, Avery looked between the two. One he'd impersonated, kissing Emma then attempted to kill her, the other being her husband and best friend of the man he'd impersonated, "Oh sh-" the two solid punches he'd received had stopped his words instantly causing him to nearly eat his teeth and breaking his nose that sent him back towards Emma, who had also copied Sirius and Remus by spinning him to face her and for a moment he thought he was seeing things from his eyes spinning, but as he came back into focus. Avery was looking at both Emma and Nymphadora Lupin, both women wasting no time in also punching him.
The four spent a bit of time doing a form of 'Hot potato' with his and their fists. The last had been Emma and Dora in a synced spin, one landing a solid kick across his face and the other landing one to his gut. He had been grateful they had allowed him to drop and remain unconscious. He'd rather wake up in Azkaban rather than killed there in a school he'd absolutely hated. Their time of joy at kicking Avery's sorry hide would not last long.
With a flash and solid connection to Dora's side, she collapsed into Emma's arms holding her side with a look of confusion and fear filling into her stomach as she panted.
"Dora!" it had been the same curse that had either been cast at Emma during Harry's sixth year or the tampered Sectumsempra that had nearly killed Morgan at Bill and Fleur's wedding. In a panic Emma raised her hand and flicked her wrist, sending the caster off out the window screaming, "Dora? Dora, stay awake. Please stay awake!" Emma begged her as she softly smiled with tired eyes, "DORA!"
Courtyard
Having enough of tossing the Dark Wizards off or being stung by one of their pathetic attempts at drawing him to his knees like before, Hagrid found a fallen wand that drew his attention and picked it up in his large hand shortly taking some time to admire it and began swishing it about, trying to do spells he'd watched and heard many other students do over the years of his time being there as Gamekeeper. But his blood had boiled when he'd looked up after hearing a pained shout and a sibling's fearful call for his brother, "Kale, run!"
"Rubie? 'EY! GET YER VERMIN SMELLIN' HAN'S OFF MY NEPHEW!" Hagrid screamed, rushing the three Dark Wizards surround the two boys, one holding Rubeus down by his throat, choking the poor boy, another holding panicking Kale near tears and a third holding a struggling Sally More as they all laughed hysterically at them. Knowing he really had no idea what he was doing, Hagrid took a heavy breath of raged courage and took a few pages from Hermione he could remember, and with shocked pride, two of the three Dark Wizards had been stunned, the other Disapparating knowing he'd likely not last once Hagrid got his hands on him, "Get yerselves inside and hid, now!" he said sternly at the three shaken kids. Nearly chuckling when Rubeus had picked up his little brother for not running fast enough and almost dragging poor Sally into the building to hide.
Great Hall
"GET OUT OF MY SCHOOL!" McGonagall's scream was clearly heard close by, a swish of fabric and the breeze of her dress and school cloak breezed over Emma's left side as the Professor took a stance against a few on-coming Death Eaters with a heated glare, "I said. Get. Out. And you can leave with your legs attached to your body. Or would you prefer the bodies of worms?" It wasn't exactly a threat, her transfiguration skills were, after all, top of many other's levels.
Worried for their previous Professor's safety, Sirius and Remus moved to help her but stopped short as they watched with confusion as three human bodies shifted into, not worms, but snails. Their confused looked moved from the now transfigured snails to one another than to Minerva who huffed at the young boy behind them, "Rubeus Malcolm- I'll scold you later, but for now, well done. Now go." With that said and done she turned to the two of them and continued to swish her wand angrily at them, "Emma! Get Tonks to cover, then come right back here and get these vile things out of my school, understand." Again, with a demanding nod and slightly satisfied with the ending situation, Minerva popped off only to Apparate somewhere else and tossed a few other Death Eaters out the windows. Taken by surprise Remus and Sirius caught sight of two others going after third years with little to no defense skills and took them out, moving to the next Death Eaters nearby, "You heard her Love! Get her out of here now!" Sirius shouted over his shoulder.
With an understanding nod, Emma Disapparated out with Dora bleeding out in her arms, "POPPY! POPPY WHERE ARE YOU!" she shouted for the Healer, finding the woman dueling her own appointee with Madame Sprout's aid.
"Emma!"
"Alicia, what are you- Alicia!" terrified when a laughing woman attacked the young Witch, knocking her off her feet and off guard, "Little Ravenclaw who survived, give thee thou heart little Witch! Just like her. Those eyes… Thy eyes that offend thee oh so much! THOU SHALL RIP THEM FROM THEE!" she screeched like a madwoman. Her hands and face were rather young, too young for the way her language was, yet her long silken hair was pure white, satin white with age but very well kept, her strength was shockingly horrifying.
-I apologize, I did a quick look up and I'm really hoping that I did that Early-Modern English second-person format correctly. So, if I possibly messed that up, and I mean terribly butchered it, please let me know so I can fix this, thank you! -
"Y-you! You're the Witch! You cursed them!" Alicia screamed up at her, her grip on the woman's wrist close to faltering as she tried shoving her back, and with Emma currently trying to find a safe place to set the wounded Dora down to help her she had a feeling she'd be taking this psychotic Witch on herself for a bit. That was until the creature that was meant to be a Witch had suddenly been sent flying off and over the stares edge that Alicia noticed Emma 's outstretched hand, "Sorry for the ridicules delay kiddo, but I'm constantly forgetting I can do that. Rather annoying really… Who the hell was that 'Licia?" Emma asked setting Dora down near Poppy and Professor Sprout, glad they had won against the few Death Eaters. She was curious in her own mind, but truthfully the deranged Witch had mentioned someone Alicia's eyes reminded her of, that had caused concern in Emma. First, she was the target of Voldemort for her ring, now she's the target of a family feuded Witch that was holding centuries held grudge. But all that Emma and Alicia cared about at that moment was getting one another into the other's arms. Glad to be in the arms of someone she knew she'd be safe. Alicia took a short moment to take a breath. Her eyes stinging with hot tears, "Not a clue honestly, Gregory never game me a name-"
"Morta… Morat, MORTA DEO'VERA! First wife, to Cezar Deo'Vera. Mother of Alexander Cezer De'Vera, murderer, dark Witch, the culprit to Salazar Slytherin's corruption and the beastly mother of the darling Basilisk he placed under this revolting castle." She laughter. Her crazy confession had sent anyone in earshot into wonder, confusion and true terror, she was more a demon than Tom Riddle, and that was a challenging level all his own. "Meaning, I'm your ancestor, A-l-I-C-I-A," Morta softly purred out her name, "Didn't you ever wonder where you got those eyes from, those gorgeous sapphire blues! Such mouthwatering ecstasy the power that comes from our bloodline!"
"You're delusional Morta! Alexander Cezar had a brother his name was Christopher Gregory Noel Cezar. Cassandra was never his father's mate. She was Christopher's!" Gregory shouted, stunning her into turning shouted, his already blue eyes flashing bright, lighting up the stairs from its dimming darkness.
With her fear of her memories coming to light, the Witch shuttered, "Shut up," her once screeching voice had leveled to a soft and barely audible whisper. Remembering the screams of the female, the wales of the crying baby girl she had carved and ripped from the female's womb, the feel of cold, thick blood coating her alabaster skin, then the silence of the child's cries when she'd dug the knife into the child, slicing it open to perform her curse.
"YOU MURDERED YOUR OWN BLOOD then sent yourself into a delusional state of repression to sate your own personal desires of an unnecessary vengeance by thinking Cassandra had been with Alexander. Gregory Noel Cezar killed himself when he found Cassandra, thankfully he never found the remains of his child since he killed himself before you could even achieve the immortal curse to save yourself from death!"
"SILENCE!" Morta's screeching demands had returned, her delusional psychotic nature returning as she charged a grinning Gregory. His word had forced her to remember, remembered the realization the female had in fact not been with her once lover, and by doing her dreadful deed had lost her family, lover, and became a murderer, tainted by darkness. Someone had tainted her, whispering evil, and terrible things into her ears as she went about life, in turn of her doing her deed, she had wondered about, seeking another soul to taint, in hopes that their worse doings would inevitably allow her to forget. Instead, she had fallen to self victimizing of her mind and was now going to finally pay for her crimes when the realization of sudden pain flooded her chest, freezing her screams that choked her. Forcing her wide and trembling body, Morta looked down, finding an arm ripped through her very own chest, and her beating heart in a firm grip of Gregory Alexander Cezar Deo'Vera. "Our curse may remain, but yours, Morta, is just. About. To. Begin." Gregory softly whispered against her lips. A dark grin spread across his face in pleasure at seeing her final breaths being gasped. Ending once he'd ripped her heart from her chest then proceeded to drain the still slowly beating heart and tossing the remaining organ over the edge. "You wanted a cruel, unearthly beast, and you've finally gotten your wish." He muttered under his breath, through blood lined lips and walked away leaving her corps laying where she'd falling, eyes wide open with horrifying fear. He truthfully thought she would cause more of a fight, he never imagined that all it would take all those times he wished to kill her, that it would only take the harsh reality of the truth.
Emma and Alicia watched with trembling terror, the vampire side was extraordinarily vicious, but the part of him that could love, show humanity, and laughable personality was a loving side, but this, this was a completely different side. Like it was personal to him. The story he'd spoken just then had sounded as if he'd witnessed it. He had said Alexander was his grandfather, meaning Gregory had likely already been born. So, was Morta truly Alicia's true first Witch line ancestor she drew her magic from or was Helena Ravenclaw truly her own Witch line? But the look of pain behind his burning blue eyes said she wasn't going to find out, ever.
Lifting up Dora into his arms, Gregory looked between Emma and Alicia, his rage and anger still clearly showing through, "Alicia, stay near me, Emma you should go back and help the others, it sounds like the fight in the Great Hall has gotten most intense. I'll help gather others who are wounded and keep them all as safe as possible." His words didn't seem to be a suggestion, nor a remark. Rather a demand of battle and trying to get her to wake up from the shock they'd just experienced. Something he was slightly used to when a human saw his true beast like side.
Realizing he was still likely right about the battle in the Great Hall, Emma nodded and hugged Alicia quickly before rushing off and the scene she had rushed in on had taken the breath from her. Bellatrix had sent a curse at Ginny Weasley, who thankfully deflected the killing curse with extra help of Draco who'd moved her back hind him and attempted to duel the laughing Witch until Molly stepped forward, angry, scared but determined to knock the Lestrange Witch on her ass, "Not my daughter you bitch!" Molly growled with rage, deflecting curse after curse from the laughing Witch. Wanting to give aid, Emma took a few steps in before she too had to deflect her own curses from enemies as soon as she had walked through the door. Thankfully finding herself back to back with Minerva, the two Witches grew tired of being bombarded with Death Eaters and spread a cyclone of fire around them, sucking up any Dark Wizard or Witch in their near proximity.
Hearing a sudden gasp of pained breath both looked over, catching a last glimpse of a shattering Bellatrix, "My word, she has some skills backing her up, she was always timid when it came to dueling…Well, so I was told, that is." Minerva said softly. Her words, however, had allowed Emma to giggle a little, many Dark Witches and Wizards were rushing to save their own lives, fleeing from the school.
"She just doesn't result in violence Minerva, she's a rather laid-back person. However, Bellatrix attacked Ginny, she just lost Percy, I can understand why she turned on a dime as she did." Emma explained gently.
"Oh, well most certainly!" Minerva exclaimed, "Well, come along, I want to be sure they are gone! So, come alone Emma. we have an inspection to start. Sirius Black!" She scolded him once catching him lifting Avery's unconscious body from the ground, checking to be sure he was alive, "Leave Mr. Avery's unconscious person alone! Come, I'll need some muscle to help me, I am old and don't have a lot of strength." Minerva demanded as she walked out, leaving the remainder of the Professor's to handle the rest downstairs as they checked the castle. Something that would take quite some time.
Simply overjoyed they had both made it through the battle alive, Emma and Sirius hugged one another, doing their best to be sure it wasn't their imagination, the Death Eaters who had stayed behind wouldn't had left had Voldemort not been defeated. Their relieved joy came when Harry walked in, Elder Wand in hand and rushed them both, all three enjoying their new-found freedom.
"You're alive. Thank you, thank you… You're alive…" Emma couldn't help it, the words had continued to whisper past her lips as she kissed Harry all over his face and atop his head, along Sirius his time to hold them both with relief.
"Go find Ron and Hermione. Emma and I will be back when we finish helping Minerva check the school and grounds. We need to be sure they're really gone and not planning any form of attacks." Sirius's voice was back to the soft nature, wrapping his arms around Emma as they watched Harry nod and walk off to look for the others. Rushing Ron and Hermione when he'd found them, the three hugged one another tightly and overjoyed when Draco and Ginny found them, they all had a short reunion before they had moved about finding others still well and breathing and hurting once they'd found someone they had lost. Yet, by seeing this touching reunion of friends, the rest of the student body had gone about doing the same and helping others with their injuries.
"Harry?" The soft, familiar, voice filled with disbelief had shocked him.
Turning his attention from the current conversation he was having with the fourth year, and to his delight his eyes feel upon dark red hair, and deep, sapphire blue eyes and a smile that would light up his world on the darkest of days after that day, "'Licia," the steps the both of them took was like a daydream, but the warmth they felt radiating off of each other when they had wrapped their arms around one another was real, she wasn't dreaming, he was real. She could smell the musky scent mixed with sweat, she could feel the oil from his hair after going through such a difficult and tiring few days and nights. But her mind was still wrapping around the fact that he had in fact gone to his death, that he had died at the hands of Voldemort, but they had won. "We won? You're alive? This is real? Please tell it's real." Alicia whimpered into his chest her grip tightening its hold on his jacket in hopes that if it truly wasn't over, she could die knowing she had the chance to see him one last time. She couldn't handle anymore. None of them could.
"Yeah, we won… He's gone, he can't hurt us, he can't hurt you. I promise." His arms lacing around her, pressing her closer to him as Harry buried his face into her hair and took in her scent. Felt her beating heart against her chest and his own. She was alive and so was he, his brother, mum, and dad were still alive, most of all, Hermione and Ron had made it through alive with him helped him fight to stay alive himself and stay in control of his sanity through their journey, and Neville had killed the Snake.
Alicia sighed with deep relief as she blinked back the burning tears. But a person behind Harry, speaking with Lavender, Luna, and Neville seemed to be a rather happy and very well changed Finn Malfoy. With the realization finally sinking in, Alicia Bonnet broke into tears of joy in the arms of Harry James Potter with many witnessing the two kiss and watching from a small distance sat Hermione and Ron, smiling as they rested against one another, enjoying their dear friends' reunion with Alicia.
Draco sitting with Ginny in his arms near his fallen parents, at least happy there was a s positive end to the losses they had suffered, Emma and Sirius would soon join Draco's side once the castle had been searched and declared safe once more.
They won, Voldemort was gone, forever, and his forces were likely officially disbanded and now back in the wind, no longer feared amongst the Wizarding world.
St. Mungo's- 3 months later
Emma rushed down the halls with excitement towards room 516 and rushed through the open door, smiling wide when her eyes landed on the fully dressed and walking Nymphadora Lupin, holding her smiling and giggling bouncing baby boy, handing Teddy back to her husband Dora and Emma met each other halfway, hugging one another with pure joy, "I'm only alive because the one that hit me with the curse was a terrible aim, and Poppy kept me alive as long as she could to get me here..." with the excitement over of her being alive, Dora moved to a different topic at hand, the Snap-Dumbledore children. "I heard about Severus's funeral, and what Rose did, how are they?" Dora asked with deep concern. What Ella had done with the connection was not only dangerous and very deadly, it was reckless and suicidal of her, the risks that she knew about, risks she had claimed she didn't care to look into for the deep, and full-term consequences of her future.
"They're hanging in there, but it's Athella I'm worried about. She's been reading a lot of people lately and it's beginning to drive her up the walls. She's slowly learning to control it. However, her Legitimacy abilities have slowly developed her telekinesis abilities as well, something that is all dangerous rolled into one. She's manifesting these abilities far too quickly at her young age as it is that Minerva has sent her deepest requests for a certain someone."
"Well, this should be interesting." Dora smiled a bit with small sarcasm. It wasn't that that had a dislike or resentment towards the woman.
"Who are you two talking about?" Remus had finally had enough of not knowing anything as to who, or what, his wife's best friend was speaking of.
But their deep sigh of wishing to avoid say her name, knowing Ella could be lurking around the corner and read something off of them. Yes, Athella Rose Snape-Dumbledore had gotten powerful enough she was easily able to penetrate Emma's very own mental shield that her own father had helped Emma create that even he, nor Voldemort himself, could. Only by swindling their way through and manipulating her mind to an emotional weakening state could they get into the deepest reaches of her mind. Yet, knowing they weren't going to get anywhere with speaking in their own understanding code to one another Emma nodded to Dora who smiled gently to her husband, "Anya,"
"Wait, you mean that Anya? Albus's Anya? The one that-"
"Yes, now hush to the topic. We have no idea how far Ella's ability can travel. We've said enough as it is. She'll find the answer's she's been looking for soon enough." Emma quickly hushed him.
Weasley's cabin
"So, what's happening?"
"They knew, they know who she is and was. But they aren't saying much more, Auntie found a way to guard herself deeper, I hate invading their minds like this, but I have to know who she is- Mars, no. that's not a coloring book." Horus rushed their little sister a bit frantic she'd start coloring in their grandfather's journal, but the grip she held onto it with was shocking as she held it close to her chest.
"But I wanna story," the dear four-year-old whined with big blue eyes, her curly blond hair framing her face as she looked at her elder siblings with adoration and a twinkle in her eyes leaving the twins sighing softly at her soft twinkling blues, the past three months they had neglected her. But that would end now, Ella had seen that look of hope in her little sister's eyes but the cries ringing in her little head was a cry for help and attention from her siblings she adored so much, "Don't leave me alone again," Marlene's silent cry had hit Athella like a cinder block as she moved from her bed and picked her sister up into her arms, "Then a story it is, but not this one. Sissy isn't finished with it yet to see if it's okay for little ears like yourself."
Athella's smile and words had brought a sweet giggled from Marlene as she hugged her sister, "Yay, story from Rosie."
"Forget about the Journal, for now, Horus, Mars needs us more than Gramps's journal. I'm done worrying about something that isn't right in front of me. We've been neglecting Mars." With a pleased grin Horus simply nodded to his sisters back and grabbed Mar's favorite storybook and followed after his sisters with a smile, those two had him wrapped around their fingers as it was that he found it rather funny. He was overjoyed when his sister had finally realized after three months that they had been neglecting their sister since their mother had been killed. Though, he knew his sister wouldn't listen to him, even if she had heard his thoughts half the time since being back with the Weasley's, who was now currently raising them, she still wouldn't listen to him. It wouldn't occur to her for some time that someone was coming to collect her, to aid her in training her new-found ability she had caused by performing that certain forbidden spell older than Helena Ravenclaw herself.
19 Year's Later
The whistling of the Hogwarts express screamed its first warning that it was about to set off for Hogwarts in the next few minutes.
"Where are they mum?"
"I don't know, they aren't usually late."
The tall ginger giggled under his breath at his wife and kids as they looked for the rest of their family, "Easy there Hermione, Harry had to work over last night- ah, see, there they are." Ron pointed out towards the giggling and laughing group heading their way.
"But where are the others, I only see Harry and Alicia-"
"Uncle Draco, Aunt Gin!" Rose shouted, jumping up and down at seeing the heads of blonde and red hair heading towards them with two redheads and a blonde himself. The Weasley children had hugged their cousins gladly then aunt and uncle.
"Where are the others now?" Hermione asked looking behind the couple, confused as to where they could have gone, now nodding when she spotted Alicia looking behind her, towards Harry kneeling beside Albus, talking about something that seemed to be bothering him. Though, Harry seemed to have comforted Albus as they walked up together with smiling faces of renewed excitement as it was his first year attending Hogwarts with his brother James.
Alicia had given Harry a small smiling grin of confusion, her eyes darting to James in confusion. And with the hint, Harry silently chuckled to his wife and shook his head, a silent way of saying 'later conversation' leaving the parents nodding in understanding. But their son's random question had stunned them all into giggles, "Dad, where's gramps and grams at?"
"What do you mean where are we boy? Where right behind you, as we promised." Turning on a dime, Albus and the other children smiled with excitement, even more so when Albus launched himself into his grandfather's arms, who still hadn't looked a day over the day the Hogwarts war had ended. "Grampa! Where's Grams? And the others-"
"Right here little Jamie."
"Nan! You're here!"
With an excited gasp, little Lily jumped from her big brother's cart and into one of her oldest uncle's and aunt's arms, "Orion! Sissa! Are the others here at all?"
"Of course, those four can't miss school. Honestly, Pan was lucky she even got to ride the train today. She put something in mum's tea. One of Fred and George's little trick bags-"
"Yes and she is still grounded until further notice. Your dear grandmother is still rather upset with her, she's already on the train, but your Uncle Remus is riding with you a lot, to keep her in check." Sirius grumbled rather angrily. The trick would have likely been funny had the tea bag not been so potent by Pan's tampering it had turned Emma' teeth so blue it was like looking at the night sky! That had been the main reason they were late getting to King's cross. In the miss-hap of the problem, Sirius had to call Orion and Lilliana to get the rest of the kids while he, Emma and Remus fixed the trick's damage it had done to his wife's teeth. Though it had been remedied, Emma's anger and disappointment in their thirteen-year-old daughter was nowhere near being doused any time soon. Even after getting scolded by her parents, Pandora Alice Black had gotten a rather harsh scold form her older brothers and sisters; Orion, Lillian, Apollo, and his girlfriend Sabin. And she was about to hear some from her older, older brothers, Harry and Draco. Boy was Pan glad she was not on the floor to load up onto the train with the others.
Hearing this had shocked many of the others, older and even their own children, but Harry's and Draco's reaction had been the best of it, "She did what?"
Sighing, one of Sirius and Emma's eldest children, still attending Hogwarts, had opened her mouth with a grin still attached to her face as she tried not to laugh at the memory, again. "Pandora decided it was a brilliant idea to play a trick on mum this Morning with her morning tea with one of uncle Fred and George's trick color tea bags, and she tampered with the compound thinking it would be hilarious… and it wasn't until mum drank three cups of tea that she hadn't noticed it then went thermal and nearly destroyed the house when she finally realized it tasted funky. She's on the train right now with Minnie and Leo."
"How funny miss Lyra Gabrielle Black, if I recall, it was you who burst into a fit of laughter at the table after I took my first drink from the first cup of tea and waited for the next two teacups I had to try saying anything, you are just as grounded as Pandora little miss..." Emma scolded the seven-teen-year-old brunette.
"Uh-oh, looks like little Gabber's is getting scolded again," a teasing feminine voice sang from behind her with a giggle. The voice had sent Lyra into a squealing state of excitement as she turned and practically jumped the blond behind her, "Marzie!"
"It's Mars, not Marzie, for Merlin's safe how long have I been trying to get you to understand that Gabs." Marlene sighed, hugging the brunette in return, a small smile on her face. As annoying as the nickname she'd had as 'Marzie' Marlene adored the girl, the two were practically like sisters.
But Lyra grinned with amusement as she hugged her best friend like a snake vise, "Since I could talk and understand that I don't are. How's Ellie doing?"
"Still pregnant as ever, Mum has the assumption she's with twins… again… that's like two in a row, I swear this entire family has nothing but twins it's crazy." Hearing another whistle from the train everyone ushered the children onto the train, glad they had packed everything the moment they arrived.
"Mars, why are you coming to Hogwarts with us?" Scorpius asked confused, but he liked Marlene around, she was fun.
"Helping Remus watch Pan and the crazy twins, those three are always getting into trouble. That and I'm the new assistant for Potions. Horus and Sara are going on a short vacation, guess Kale got into more trouble over in Romania again with the Dragon's."
"Hey, where's Richie?"
"Likely getting in trouble with Pan and the twins since Uncle Remus is sitting across from us," Scorpius said, speaking up.
"Just like the Marauders, always getting into trouble and setting traps, likely way Pan is always getting into trouble, probably trying to get their attention to get some advice on getting away with traps. I still wanna know who those guys are anyways?" James said with an excited grin to Remus, who grinned, keeping his lips sealed. They'd find out eventually. Once they started putting two and two together regarding the nicknames they always use, even in front of others. But, just like the last generation slightly figured it out, eventually, it was their turn now.
It was time for the new generation to have their journey as The Marauders and their Fox had finally closed the final chapter of their story for the newer generation to begin their own. All the while Emma and Sirius watched from behind their gathered family, watching the train take off while Remus grinned with gratefulness, he and his family and friends had survived the Battle of Hogwarts with as many as they had walked away with that day to move forward with their lives to create more memories and adding members to their ever-growing family.
