It was Rainbow Dash that was holding August when they arrived at Golden Oaks. It took them about thirty minutes to trot to the library, and they savored every second that they spent holding August, especially Rainbow Dash. She couldn't explain what she felt when she looked down at the little one huddled up in her hoof. But she couldn't deny it, she felt something for him.

When they all arrived at the door, Rainbow hovered a little in the air, and knocked with her free forehoof that didn't contain August.

"M-Ms. Rainbow, Applejack, and Fluttershy, is Twilight nice like you?" August asked the worriedly, and started to shake.

They all looked at him with light smiles, and Rainbow lightly rubbed him with her forehoof.

"We promise, lil fella, she is real friendly. I am the element of honesty, and I can assure you that she is really nice."Applejack said to him. Before the door opened, Rainbow quickly hid August in her hoof until Twilight was ready to see him.

August started to tremble after being covered, and Rainbow calmed him.

"Shh... It's okay, little buddy. It's only until we tell Twilight about you. I promise I won't hurt you." Rainbow reassured him.

The door opened, and it revealed Twilight Sparkle.

"Oh, hello girls, how are you three?" Twilight greeted.

"We're doing very well, thank you for asking," Fluttershy responded, "We finished with everything we needed to do today, and wondered if you wanted to talk for a little bit. You're not too busy are you?" Fluttershy asked.

"Actually, no I'm not. I just got finished re-shelving about an hour ago. Why don't you come in?" Twilight responded and trotted inside.

The other three, or four if you count August, followed her inside.

"So what have you girls been up to?" Twilight asked the other three mares.

"Well, we all finished our daily chores, and decided to meet up together. So we thought maybe we could gather one more." Applejack lied. The other two nodded

"Well, are you sure you don't wanna get Pinkie and Rarity too?" Twilight asked them all.

"We were thinking about that, but we decided against it, until later, at least." Fluttershy responded.

"Also, well..." Applejack hesitated a little, "We came to show you something important."

"Girls, you know you can tell me anything. So what is on your minds?" Twilight asked them.

"We think it's better if we show you, or if Rainbow showed you." Fluttershy said, and they all looked at her.

"Well, she has been acting really quiet, and she's been holding her chest for sometime now. So Rainbow, is something wrong?" Twilight asked her.

Rainbow sighed, and began the explanation, "No, nothing is really wrong Twilight, at least not with us, but with someone else, who happens to be in the same room as us."

Twilight gave a confused look, "What are you talking about, Rainbow? We are the only ones in the room. What are you talking about?"

"Twilight..." Rainbow uncovered the tiny boy from her chest, and held him out, "meet August."

Twilights eyes went agape, "Girls, is..." She paused out of shock, "Is that a human?"

The three of them smiled, as they knew Twilight would know what he was.

Twilights mouth opened wide due to the sheer size difference between them. He could lay down on her hoof, with room to spare.

"H-He's so tiny." Twilight said.

In Rainbows hoof, they saw that he started to tremble and cry at seeing someone new. Rainbow immediately wrapped her hoof around him again and brought him to her chest.

"How old is he?" She asked them worriedly.

"The lil fella is only five." Applejack told her.

"Five?! He was left all alone out there?! Where are his parents?" Twilight asked.

Upon hearing that word again, August began crying harder, and Rainbow rubbed at him with the hoof she was holding him with.

"Well, as soon as we asked him about it, he got all sad like he is now." Rainbow Dash told her, "Shh... It's okay little buddy. Go ahead and cry. I'm right here."

"Well, we should figure out why then." Twilight responded.

"I agree, but do you think that we could introduce him to the other two first?" Fluttershy suggested.

"That's not a bad idea Fluttershy. But how will we do that?" Twilight asked.

"As normally as possible." Applejack said.

"Normally? How the hay are we gonna do that? Look at him? He is a tiny, adorable little human, which no one in this world has ever seen before besides Twilight." Rainbow retorted.

"Well, doing it normally would probably be best for August, as we don't want to scare the poor thing." Fluttershy responded.

"Well then, where do you guys wanna head first?" Twilight asked all of them.

"I think it would be best if we went to Raritys boutique first." Applejack said.

They all nodded, and walked out of.the library and started towards the carousel boutique.

Rainbow was still the one holding August. Not because she had to, but because she wanted to. She felt the need to protect him with every bone in her body.

When they got close to the carousel boutique, Rainbow covered August again. To reassure him that he was safe, she rubbed at him with her hoof.

After they knocked, it was Sweetie Belle who came to the door.

"Oh, hey ladies. Rarity! Your friends are here!" With that, she walked back into the building.

A few seconds later, Rarity came to the door.

"Hello girls, how can I help you?" She asked politely.

"We have something to tell you, Rarity. You may want to sit down for this one." Twilight told her.

Rarity was confused, but she nodded as they all walked in.

"So girls is something wrong?" Rarity asked them all.

"Well, I wouldn't say anything is wrong, but there is something we need to bring up." Fluttershy told her.

"Well, I'm all ears." Rarity replied.

"Rainbow..." Fluttershy signaled.

Rainbow nodded and uncovered the tiny child.

"Rarity, this is August." Rainbow told her as she held him out in her hoof.

Raritys mouth went wide and her eyes sparkled, "Oh my goodness, Rainbow, he is so small and adorable!"

"Yeah he is, but in case you haven't noticed," Rainbow pointed with her other hoof at the trembling child, "he is scared of meeting new ponies. Not to mention he is only five years old."

Rarity expression changed to that of worry, and she quietly spoke to him, "It's ok little one, there is nothing to be scared of. I promise that I won't hurt you." She placed a hoof gently on top of him, "Where did you find him?"

"Well, you see, when we first saw him, we thought that he was just some varmint," Applejack started, "But that changed when we took a good look at him."

"He isn't wearing any clothing on his body other than on his legs. What happened?" Rarity asked.

"We didn't think about that. He probably does need a top since he doesn't have any fur besides on his little head."Twilight replied.

Rarity frowned a little bit, "I'm not sure if I can make a top for the little one. He might be much to small."

Fluttershy decided to chime in, "That's okay, we'll figure out something."

"We were actually gonna go properly introduce the little fella to Pinkie since the last time they met didn't go so well. If you wanna come then you are welcome to." Applejack told her.

"I would love to, darling. When should we leave?" Rarity asked.

"Now would probably be the best time. The little guy is scared of meeting new ponies, so we should make it quick." Rainbow said as she hugged August against her chest with a hoof.

Everyone nodded and stood up, and exited the boutique to head over to Sugarcube Corner.

As they left, they heard August start to cry. They all exchanged worried glanced

Rainbow carefully kept her hoof wrapped around August, and brought him away from her chest.

"Shh... Little buddy, what's wrong?" She quietly asked him.

August slowly looked up at them with a tear stained face, which broke all of their hearts, "M-Ms. Rainbow, b-but I tried

to take something from her earlier. W-w-what if sh-she h-hates me?"

All of their hearts broke at the pain and guilt in the boys voice, "Shh... It's alright, it was an accident, you didn't know," Rainbow told him and began to rock him in her hoof, "She won't hate you, I promise. Please buddy, don't cry."

Everyone watched the scene with surprise and sadness. Rainbow never acted like this, at least not to this extent. She would sometimes encourage others, but she would rarely ever make contact with them. They knew that she has been the one holding him, but it wasn't until then that they learned just how much Rainbow cared for him.

August eventually cried himself to sleep in Rainbows hoof. Tears stained his face even after he went to sleep.

"What are we gonna do about the lil fella?" Applejack asked the group.

"Well, in order for August to realize that nopony hates him or wants to hurt him, he has to be awake when he meets Pinkie." Twilight told him.

"Aww, but look at the little one, he is sleeping like a baby."Rarity said.

"Well, probably because he technically is a baby, Rarity." Rainbow Dash told her, "But I probably should wake him up when we get there." With that, they continue the trek to Sugarcube Corner.
