Christian and Ana getting married

AN: Hello! So I never had any thoughts about making Lunch between friends more than a one-shot. While I still really don't have any plans to take it much further this idea did come to me and I thought it would be a cute addition. I can't promise any more after this, but ya know, never say never. So for now this one-shot becomes a two-shot! Let me know what you think.. again I'm not a writer so please pardon any mistakes~ I own nothing~ please be kind!

Summer was quickly drawing to a close. With only one full week of vacation left Christian and Ana wanted to spend as much time together as possible. After becoming best friends over lunch, on Christian's first day of kindergarten, the two had become inseparable. Christian woke bright and early, getting himself ready for whatever mischief or 'adventures' as Ana liked to call them, they would find themselves in today. He ran downstairs and saw his mom, Grace, already making breakfast.

"I thought you might be up early again." She said.

"Yeah, Ana said she was gunna get her daddy to bring her here as soon as she wakes up so we could play all day." Christian said excitedly.

Grace had expected this, as Ana had quickly made the Grey house her second home over the summer. Not that Grace minded, of course, Ana's friendship had brought on a world of change for Christian. She had forced him out of his shell and made him less afraid of the world around him.

Christian had just finished scarfing down his pancakes when they heard the doorbell ring and ring and ring and ring... Christian jumped out of his seat and raced towards the door.

"Christian, you know you're not supposed to answer the door with out me or your father."

"But it's Ana!" Christian replied.

"You don't know that." Grace answered. Christian fixed her with an incredulous look as if to say 'really mom', as the doorbell continued to ring and ring and ring.

Both Christian and Grace opened the door to see Ray, Ana's father hurrying out of the car to stop Ana who was on her tippy toes ringing the doorbell.

"Ana! I told you, you only need to press the button once! I'm sorry Grace, Ana's been more excited than usual to come over today." Ray said.

"No worries, Christian has been just as excited.

"Hi Mrs. Christian's mom!" Ana greeted excitedly as she grabbed Christian's hand and raced through the house.

"I hope she doesn't give you too much trouble. I know she can be a handful." Ray said, watching as his beloved daughter raced across the backyard.

"Not at all, we love having her here Ray, you know that. You and Ana are both welcome any time." A statement she fully meant. As Christian and Ana's friendship grew with every passing day so had Grace and Carrick's friendship with Ray.

"That goes both ways." Ray said kindly "I'll be back to pick Ana up at 6 as usual."

"So what do you want to do today?" Christian asked as they ran across the backyard to their usual spot. The tree house had quickly become their favorite hangout. Carrick had built it at the beginning of the summer for both Elliot and Christian. But Elliot soon decided that he'd rather be at his friend's house playing video games, so Ana and Christian took it over as their own best friend hangout. Christian had even surprised Ana with a sign he'd drew, all by himself, for the tree house door that read..

"Ana + Christians tree hows"
"No wun els alowed (not evin leliot)"

Despite the messy writing and misspelled words Ana loved it! Although she did make one important addition to it.

"Ana + Christians tree hows"
"No wun els alowed (not evin leliot)"
*onlee com in if u got snaks*

Christian thought that was brilliant, Ana really thought of everything!

"Christian I gotta tell you something important! Yesterday me and daddy watched a movie..."

"Was it good?" Christian asked.

"That's not important." Ana said

"What was it about?" He interrupted again

"That's not important!" Ana said getting exasperated. "Just listen! At the end of the movie the girl got married to her best friend and they lived happily ever after."

"Okay?" Christian said a bit confused as to why this was so important.

"Well, I asked my daddy what married means and he said when two grown up people love each other very much they get married and then they live together forever." She explained

"Okay?" Christian said, still confused.

"Don't you get it? Ana asked. Christian shook his head 'no'

Ana rolled her eyes and continued with a sigh.. "I got something important to ask you..." and looking Christian in his eyes she said "Christian will you marry me?" With her wide smile.

"What?" Christian asked his eyes going wide.

"Think about it.. you're my bestest friend in the whole wide world and if we get married then we can live here in the tree house and play all day long and I wouldn't have to go home at 6 o'clock anymore"

Christian looked at her, impressed beyond words .. "you're a genius!"

Ana giggled and said "so will you marry me?"

"Yes!" Christian exclaimed. "So what do you have to do to get married?" He asked

"It's easy all we gotta do is hold hands and say 'I DO'

"That's it?"

"Uummm yeah.. said Ana slyly. As she took Christian's hand in hers.

"Now what?" he asked

"Now you gotta say 'I do.'"

"I do!" Christian said proudly.

"I do too!" Said Ana excitedly.

"Is that it? Are we married now?" Christian asked

"Almost, now we just gotta kiss."

"KISS?!" Christian cried.

"Yeah, that's what they did in the movie." With that Ana closed her eyes and stuck out her lips, like a fish. Christian froze, starring at Ana unsure of what to do.

"Just do like me." Ana said sensing his apprehension.

So Christian followed suit squeezing his eyes tight and making his lips fish-like. Their faces moved towards each other slowly until their lips pressed together for the smallest fraction of a second. They both jumped back, away from each other as if they'd been zapped. Christian felt heat rush to his face as his cheeks burned bright red. Ana, on the other had fixed her starry-eyed gaze at Christian and said "WOW."

A small giggle escaped her as she said "I like being married" her giggle turning into a full belly laugh, with Christian joining in.

Later on that day during lunch Christian and Ana couldn't help their giggles and sly glances at each other as Grace served them mac and cheese.

"What's so funny?" Grace asked

"Nothing!" They replied in unison, both looking smug at each other, thinking they had really pulled one over on their parents.

Six o'clock rolled around and as promised Ray pulled up to the house ready to pick up Ana. Grace led Ray through the back yard to the tree house where he called for Ana.

"Ana, come on down, it's time to go home."

Stifled laughter came from the tree house followed by Ana's voice. "Sorry daddy I can't go home anymore cause Christian and I are married now!" Ana said confidently.

"What?" Ray asked, very confused. "Ana come down here please."

Ana and Christian climbed down the ladder and were met by the confused faces of both Ray and Grace.

"What do you mean you and Christian are married? How did you do that?"

"Well," Ana began to explain "we held hands and we both said 'I DO' and then..."

"Then we were married!" Christian interrupted quickly, his cheeks flushing with color again. Ana looked at Christian and rolled her eyes.

"Oh I see, and why would you do that?" Ray asked, amused.

"Cause me and Christian are bestest friends and now I don't have to go home at 6 o'clock anymore and we can stay together forever.. just like you said."

"Like I said? When did I say that?" Ray asked.

"Yesterday when we watched the movie, you said if you marry someone you're supposed to stay together forever... remember" Ana said smugly.

Ray chuckled and reminded Ana that he did say only grown ups could get married.

"But daddy I'm six years old now!" Ana huffed.

"Christian you went along with this?" Grace asked slightly surprised.

"Yes, I wanna marry Ana so we can live in the tree house and play together all day!" Christian said with a smile. Ray and Grace glanced at each other, unsure of how to proceed. When Grace suddenly had a thought...

"What if you two had a camp out in your tree house tonight, then tomorrow you two could play all day and then Ray can pick Ana up tomorrow night, as usual." How does that sound?" Grace reasoned.

"But we're married!" Ana said, trying to make them understand.

"Ana, sweetheart I think that's the best offer you're going to get." Ray said gently. Ana looked to Christian and he nodded his head and she relented.

"Okay.. thank you daddy, thank you Mrs. Christian's mom."

"Yeah thanks!" Christian said turning to head back into their tree house as they heard Ray and Grace chuckling from behind them.

"Geez, married life is hard!" Ana said exasperated

"It sure is!" Christian agreed.
