"Sigh...I really need to get better about thinking things through. I mean I almost got us trapped in the underworld and then got yelled at by mom for not only being out past midnight but also because we were trapped in the wrong bodies. Thank goodness Carrie came back a few minutes later with another bottle that reversed everything back to normal." He says as he looks up at the moon causing him to smile a little.
"At least I can just look up at the sky and know that I can't ever ruin you huh moon?" He asks before suddenly there was a small boom behind him causing him to quickly turn to see what it was. He looked around to see that it was no other than Carrie Krueger who smiled nervously at Gumball.
She floated over to where Gumball was sitting and sat right beside him. The two did not say anything for a while as the tension between the two of them was thick. It was Carrie who made the first move as she cleared her throat.
"Are all of you um feeling like your old selves?" She asked hoping that maybe that the potion she had given the three kids had no awful side effects.
Gumball did not say anything to her but he gave her a small nod as he kept his eyes on the moon. "You know Carrie I really proved today that I am an awful big brother. I mean I almost got Darwin and I trapped as ghosts forever and then I almost got Darwin, Anais and I trapped in the underworld, I mean what kind of brother does that?" He asked frustrated at himself as his hands balled up into small fists.
Carrie glanced down at Gumball's hands and could tell just by how hard his hands were balled up that he was taking everything so hard. She could not fully understand just what all he was feeling right now given she did not have any siblings but she knew that he was hurting inside and she knew he needed someone and right now she was that person.
"Gumball it's not all your fault after all I was the one that gave you the liquid that started all of this and I should have told you both the side effects before giving it to you and Darwin and I should have put it somewhere that Anais would not have found it." She says knowing that some of the blame was on her as it was on her friend.
Gumball let out a sigh and unclinched his fist as he let his feet hang over the room. "Maybe you're right but my mom trusted me to watch over them and I failed so now I have to live with that but thank you Carrie for helping us get back into our bodies." He says, giving her a small smile.
Carrie smiled back at him as the two of them sat there staring up at the full moon. "You know other than everything bad that happened tonight I am really glad that you came to the party Gumball. It was a fun and interesting night to say the least." She said with a smile on her face.
Gumball gave a small nod in agreement as he had to admit other than almost becoming a ghost forever he did have fun being one and doing a lot of crazy things. "Yeah and Darwin kissing you was pretty funny as well. I mean the look on your face alone was priceless." He says laughing as he remembers how shocked Carrie was by that, causing Carrie to blush at the thought before lightly punching Gumball in the shoulder.
"Shut up. I will need to talk to your brother about that and tell him I was not a fan of losing my first kiss to someone I do not like like that." She says as she calmed herself down while Gumball looked at her surprised to hear that she did not like it.
"Oh and who were you hoping to lose your first kiss to huh? I mean is there someone you already like? Oh do they go to our school?" He asks as his face was close to hers, causing the ghost girl's face to get redder and redder with each question as she did not know if she should really tell the blue feline or not.
Carrie looked down at the tile on the roof as she thought about how she wanted to answer the questions but after a minute of thinking it over she just sighed. "I do have someone I have had my eye on for a while and they do go to our school but he's a bit of a goofball and always gets into crazy incidents but even so I still think he is the kindest, loyal, funniest boy I have ever met." She says, still looking at the ground as Gumball tried to figure out just who she was talking about but being king of a dummy he did not know that the boy she was talking about was him.
"Sounds like a really cool guy and sounds like he be a lot of fun to meet so who is he?" Gumball asked excitedly to meet this guy which just caused Carrie to look at him for a minute and laugh at how clueless Gumball could be some times but then again that was another reason she liked him.
"Hey what is so funny Carrie?" He asks not getting why his friend was laughing at his question as he really wanted to know who this guy was that Carrie liked. After a while Carrie stopped laughing and wiped a tear away from her face before looking at him and smiles at him.
"I will give you one clue and if you can't figure it out after that then you really need to get some help." She says and without any warning she quickly gave Gumball a kiss on the lips making his tail stand up and his body freeze as her lips felt so cold to the touch but it was not an awful cold but more like a snowflake touching your skin.
Carrie was floating in front of Gumball now waiting to see what he would say or do or worse thinking he rejected her feelings but after a few seconds Gumball snapped out of his surprised state and looked into Carrie's eyes.
"I guess I must be that guy then huh?" He asked before licking his lips to feel the little bit of cold that was still there.
Carrie grins at the boy happy that he was able to figure that out. "Yeah so you can think of that as your Halloween treat Gumball." She says before turning around to leave but Gumball quickly grabbed a hold of her hand and before she could do anything Gumball pulled her against his body and kissed her back but this kiss was not a quick peck on the lips. Oh no this one was a long one and at first Carrie's eyes were open wide in surprise before she slowly gave into the kiss and kissed him back.
The two of them were like this for a while before Gumball slowly pulled his lips away from the ghosts as he stood in front of her. Carrie opened her eyes and looked at the boy she had been crushing on for awhile wondering if that kiss meant that he felt the same about her as she did for him.
For a while Gumball did not say anything till he felt like he should say something to her. "Well I can't say I expected the rest of my night to turn out like this but I have to say that you know how to cheer a guy up." He says before grabbing a hold of both of Carrie's hands in his.
"Carrie would you like to be the treat to my trick?" He asks shyly before Carrie understands what he was asking her which made her smile at him and nod her head.
"I would like that very much Gumball." She answered before the two of them came together for a hug as in the back of Gumball's mind he was just thinking one thing. 'Maybe this night was not all bad.'
