He had her in his ear, listening to everything that was going on. Right now, she was sleeping and he could hear Lily snoring lightly. He'd flipped through the folder and saw pictures of Olivia and Lily. Some were taken in the garden of their yard, quite obviously from a drone. There were others taken by Olivia's studio. The dates on the pictures meant they were taken in about 3 days. It had all Olivia's information, her date of birth, address, her studio address and a rough outline of her schedule over the three days or so they watched her. It classified her as a terrorist. What he realized was that there were no pictures of Erin and he was thankful, because depending on what happened in the next 24 hours, he was going to need her.
The last thing he needed was a fight with the president. There was too much going on but he had to do what he had to do. He'd been sitting for almost half an hour thinking. There was no mention of him in the file but he was 100% sure that the president knew Olivia was his wife. The president had been a long-time friend of his dad, he grew up seeing him at family events when he and Gerry were senators and friends but that was over now.
He paged some crew members from mission control and IT and told them to report to the office.
Should he beef up Olivia and Lily's security which would probably terrify them or should he handle it quietly. In his mind, he knew that he could always order another team in, maybe navy seals or mercenaries. He could bring a formal case against her but that would be too risky because she had too much information on him.
The mission request stated they wanted her taken alive, which meant to Fitz that he probably wanted to see her.
Fitz sat thinking and when mission control arrived, he'd made up his mind.
"Greg, I need you to get me to Washington immediately and make sure I have a pass into the white house."
Greg nodded and left.
"Tyler, I need you to get a plane to Beverly Hills and bring my wife and daughter here now."
He nodded and left.
"Kevin, I need you to play around with the president's schedule and find me an opening."
Fitz walked out with him, he had an idea in mind and needed to get started on it.
Olivia felt like someone was watching her and jumped out of her sleep to see masked men standing over her. She didn't panic, she couldn't panic. She took a deep breath, if they were there to hurt her, they would've done it already.
"Don't panic, the general sent us to get you," one man said.
"Why should I believe that?"
"If we were here to hurt you, we could've done it already."
"Why does he want you to take me?"
"Our orders are to take you and the child, that is all."
She sat up.
"Can I call him?"
"Sure, ma'am."
She was silently relieved and her heart was beating so fast she thought it might burst out of her chest but finally, it slowed to something close to normal.
She checked her phone, she saw 5 missed calls from Fitz and 3 texts. That could mean two things, either he was warning her or letting her know she should go with them. It didn't seem like something he would do; send deltas to get her because of everything that happened. She worried about what would cause him to do that.
She opened her phone and checked the text message.
Husband: Don't be worried I was trying to call you but I knew you were sleeping. I sent them to get you just as a precaution. Pack enough clothes for you and Lily for a week, you're gonna be staying at the base with me.
Then he texted again.
Husband: the first night we had sex, the next morning when you woke you felt my erection and thought there was a snake in the tent.
Husband: just so you know it's me and don't bring Erin.
She let out a sigh of relief, she was worried about Erin but she trusted Fitz.
"Just give me 5 minutes to pack," she said to the men.
They nodded, "we will be by the door."
When they walked out, she closed her bedroom door with the lock and grabbed her Louis Vuitton duffle bag from her closet and threw some underwear and clothes in it. She brushed her teeth quickly and washed her face then she changed out of her pajamas into leggings and a t-shirt. After she was finished, she took Lily and went to their nursery and packed clothes, diapers, wipes for Lily as well. Her bag was full and worried she wouldn't have enough for the week. All the same, she dressed Lily in warm clothes and went to find the men at the door.
She was nervous on the ride but she had to trust him. She texted Erin as she drove to the airfield, letting her know she was going on a trip with Lily and would be back soon.
She tried calling Fitz a few more times but never got through.
Lily slept through the entire flight, she woke up once for food and then went back to bed. When she arrived at the base, it was how she remembered it with just a few changes. She didn't want any confrontations and she hoped no one would bother her.
As she disembarked the plane and was making her way to wherever the men were escorting her, she suspected Fitz's suite, she saw Abby, Harrison, and Huck watching her. She held her head straight and kept walking. One of the men held her bag as they walked.
They stopped in front of Fitz's suite and opened the door, it was empty inside and opened. She walked in and laid Lily on the bed. Zeus jumped up on her immediately.
"Hi, Zuzu, I missed you."
She hugged him and pat his head. The man placed her bag on the floor and then they left.
He sighed and laid back on the bed beside Lily.
Fitz stood in the oval office, the president would be walking in at any moment. He had on his military uniform adorned with all the stars and medals.
When the president walked in, he seemed shocked.
"General Grant, I didn't know we had a meeting scheduled."
"You must've overlooked it," Fitz said casually.
"I'm actually glad to see you, I assume you've received the last mission request."
"I did, that's what I'm here to talk about."
The president walked and sat on the couch and motioned for Fitz to follow and so Fitz did.
"I think it's full time we get her into US custody."
"U.S. custody or your custody?"
"Does it matter?"
"I suppose not because I'm declining the mission," Fitz said.
"The mission proposal was just a courtesy, it's not for you to reject. It's for you to do."
"It is for me to reject and I'm rejecting it."
"I thought you would have particularly enjoyed that mission. This woman killed your father, she killed your brother-"
"Eli pope killed my father and brother and if I remember correctly you sent Olivia pope to the base knowing who her father was out of fear of what was it again: blackmail?"
The president stood.
"I'm about tired of you passing your place with me soldier," he said angrily. 'Is it about the kid, you slaughter children but I don't want this to be messy, leave the kid and just take her."
Fitz stood as well.
He'd been trying to be careful because it seemed like he didn't know that they were married. He wondered if he was so incompetent that he missed that detail but it seemed that way.
"I said I'm not doing it and no Delta will and if you try to send anyone else to do it, well…" Fitz stopped himself. "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
The president chuckled.
"Well shit. She's gotten her hooks into you too huh?"
He poured some whiskey from the decanter on the bar trolly and sipped.
"I'm sorry to tell you this son but Olivia Pope doesn't care about anyone but herself. She is a terrorist who infiltrated a covert military operation and betrayed her country so she's gonna get her due whether you like it or not so if you don't want to take her, that's fine but step aside, don't get involved but I'm am going to get her brought to me, it's full time she faced me."
Fitz shook his head.
"I don't know how you've become president while being so incompetent. I have the papers you signed ordering me to keep here, I have the tapes she recorded of you revealing classified information to her and thanks to you again, now I have the file sent ordering me to kidnap her so if it's anyone who betrayed their country it's you and I don't think you can explain that to congress but I'd love to see you try. See, there's a reason this isn't an official file from the CIA or FBI, it's because this is about you."
Fitz stepped closer and rested his hand on the president's shoulder.
"It doesn't matter because that kid, is my kid and Olivia is my wife and I would sooner strangle you with my bare hands right here, right now and have secret service drag me out of here than I'd let you get anywhere near my family."
Fitz smiled as he heard the door open and his chief of staff walked in.
"-thank you, Mr. President, I appreciate you taking the time to speak to me about this very important issue."
The president smile back, though it was barely believable and nodded his head after taking a hard swallow.
Fitz walked out after adjusting his ring on his middle finger, he had to make sure it didn't prick him. He was out of the building in a heartbeat and was actually nervous which was unusual for him. He'd just killed the president. The slowly working poison would give him cardiac arrest in about 12 hours and he was only nervous because he wondered how much damage the president could cause for Olivia in 12 hours.
He headed straight for the airstrip and got on his plane immediately. On he was in the air and flying for some time he felt fine, his nerves settled and he decided to call Olivia. She answered quickly.
"Livie?"
"Thank god?" she said quickly.
"I'll be there in a few hours, okay and I'll explain everything."
"Okay," she nodded to herself, still grateful to hear his voice.
"Are you okay?"
"baby..I'm starving."
"Go get food."
"I'm not going out there."
"Okay, I'll have someone bring you food."
"So they could spit in it, I don't think so."
"I'll have someone bring you food."
"Fine, thanks."
"Okay, love you, I'll be there soon."
"Love you too."
She hung up and turned to Lily on the couch. Lily was watching cartoons on Fitz's television. She'd eaten food that Olivia brought from home but she knew Lily would be getting hungry again soon so it was a good thing that Fitz ordered them food.
Almost an hour later there was a knock on the door.
Olivia got up to answer the door and saw one of the kitchen crew members with a large tray of food.
"Thank you," she said
It was a heavy tray and she quickly walked it over to the coffee table in front of the sofa. When she lifted the cover, it was grilled salmon with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. She inspected everything, it looked good and it smelled even better.
As soon as Lily saw the food, she crawled over to her and began digging at the food.
Olivia smelled it and prayed that they didn't do anything to the food. She tasted the mashed potatoes and it tasted amazing.
Lily began to fuss.
"Wait, Lily, let's see if I drop dead first," she joked but there was some truth to it. She was paranoid, after years of living the way she lived, it was her default. After a few minutes of struggling to keep Lily from the food, she felt fine so she fed her some of the mashed potatoes. Lily ate hungrily.
For every bite she gave Lily, she took one herself. Lily loved the salmon.
After they finished eating, they both fell asleep on the couch.
When Fitz landed at the base, he made a beeline to his suite. He scanned his thumb and walked in. There were cartoons on TV, both were cuddled on the couch sleeping.
He walked over to the couch quietly and then grabbed Olivia suddenly, frightening her out of sleep.
"Ahhh!" she screamed.
He hugged and kissed her.
"I'm sorry, I had to," he said as he kissed her over and over again on the forehead then he let her go and walked over to Lily. He picked her up, waking her from sleep and kissed her cheeks.
"Hi, baby girl."
He kissed her again.
"Yum, yum yum, yum, yum, daddy monster's gonna eat you."
Lily giggled sleepily.
"YOU GAVE ME A FRIGHT!" Olivia screamed.
"Oi guv'nor, bring me a spot tea and crumpets, pip pip cheerio. Good day m'lady."
Olivia slapped him.
"Stop making fun of my accent."
"A dingo ate my baby."
"That's Australian. Idiot."
He laughed such a wide beautiful smile it made her wonder when the last time she saw him smile like that was.
"Are you gonna tell me what's going on? You seem unusually chipper, is everything okay? she said softly.
He sat down, careful not to step on Zeus as he slept in front of the sofa.
"The president wanted you, sent me a file, instructing me to capture you and bring into U.S custody alive."
"W-what...why?"
"Why does any man go after you. You wrap them around your tiny little fingers and they can't get over you."
Olivia frowned.
"Is that why you're dressed in your uniform because you went to see him."
"Yeah, I told him to back off."
Olivia sat beside him.
"Does he know were married?"
"He knows now."
"You told him."
"Yeah."
"What did he say?"
"Nothing actually."
"I mean...I don't know...do I have anything to worry about? You seemed calm now but earlier I thought things were pretty serious with you taking us here and all after agreed that me being here wasn't safe."
"It's the safest place for you right now, for at least a couple days when everything blows over."
"Everything? What's everything?"
"Well ...Fitz checked his watch. In about 8 hours, the Whitehouse is gonna announce that the president is dead. It will be from natural causes, he has a heart problem and even death will be unexpected and unexplainable the coroner will rule it a natural death."
"And you know this because?"
"Because I killed him. In the meantime, I just need you guys to be here so until he dies and is buried I know he didn't do anything that would put you in danger."
Olivia nodded and slide a little closer to him and folded her legs.
"Every time I get comfortable something happens to remind me that I shouldn't and I can't help but think that this is the life I've passed on to my daughter because of my choices."
"I haven't exactly made the best choices either, but we have to live with it."
"Sometimes I wonder...I think I should have done what Erin did."
"Spending most of your 20's in jail, being raped and addicted to drugs and homeless, how is that better? No. you're not like Erin. You're smart and cunning, you never give up and most important of all you orgasm like a star."
She slapped his arm.
"I'm serious" she scolded.
"I am too. Now is not the time to feel sorry for yourself okay. I'm really happy you're here, at least for the next few days, I have you guys all to myself."
"Poor Erin, she's gonna be all alone."
As Olivia said the words, she came to a realization.
"Fitz, if they're out to get me and Erin, who looks exactly like me is still at the house then she's not safe."
"I can't bring Erin here, I gave her extra guards and as I said it's really unlikely that anythings happens now but if I'm being honest Olivia I if it's a choice between you and Erin then I'm gonna save you a lot of trouble and tell you that it's you."
Olivia walked over to her duffle bag and took her cell phone and dialed Erin quickly. She picked up after a few rings.
"Liv what's up?"
"Erin is there anywhere you can go, that would be safe?"
"What do you mean, am I in trouble, are you in trouble?"
"I don't want to alarm you, I just want you to be safe, if there's anywhere you can go where you think you'll be safe, just for a few days?"
"I have a friend who lives downtown, maybe I can hang out with her for a few days."
"Okay, go now and bring some guards with you, I'll call you when I get back and just keep in touch, let me know what's going on."
"OK, now I'm a little bit worried."
"Don't worry alright, just go."
"Okay, I'll text you when I'm there."
"Alright."
Olivia hung up and walked over to Fitz's bed and sat down.
"Are you upset?" Fitz asked. He still had Lily in his arms, she was watching the tv.
"No," she gave him a small smile. "I just needed to make sure we're doing everything to keep her safe. After everything she did to get away from this life, I wouldn't forgive myself if I was the one who got her killed."
"Do you trust her?" he asked.
"Yeah, I mean not at first but now I do. Why? Did she do something?"
"No, I was just curious."
He stood.
"I have to go see about the situation with the president, I'll be back in a little while, okay?"
She nodded and walked over to the couch to sit with Lily.
After Fitz stood and sat Lily against the cushions, he leaned over and kissed Olivia on the lips.
"I'll be back in a little while when we'll have later all to ourselves."
Fitz left shortly after, leaving them alone.
The last time they were in the room together was when he'd just found out about Scott's death and that fact didn't leave her thoughts for a moment.
When Fitz returned, Olivia and Lily had both showered and were laying in bed. He had a large tray of food.
"I brought us food."
He laid the tray on the bed and lifted the cover.
"Burgers!" he said excitedly.
"You can start eating, I'm gonna grab a shower okay."
Olivia nodded.
Her mood still seemed somber from earlier and he knew they'd had to talk about it. He showered quickly and pulled on a pair of pajama pants before he walked back out to Olivia and Lily.
Lily was sucking on a french fry and Olivia was halfway into her burger. He walked over to the bed and sat by Olivia and ate a fry.
"The last time we were in this room, your brother had just died-"
"It's okay Olivia, we're not thinking about that tonight."
She kissed his lips and caressed his cheek.
"Okay."
The next morning, Fitz went out to begin his day. Olivia and Lily were still sleeping when he left the first time to bring breakfast back for them. When he dropped off the food, they were still sleeping so she wrote her a note and left.
He missed his morning workout to sleep in. By the time he arrived, it was their daily briefing. He was the last one to arrive and sit at the head of the table.
"Okay so let's pick up right where we left off yesterday. I asked for the background on Chalamet, we've been chasing this guy for weeks, tell me you have more."
"We do," Huck said as he stood and clicked on the screen.
"So we know he's working on something big, our problem so far has been that we don't want to confront him because we want to get info right, we want to see where this leads and if we kill him then someone else will just take over and we're back to square one."
"Nice recap, but did you find anything new?" Fitz asked.
"Well..actually yes but you won't like it."
"Do I ever like it?" Fitz asked rhetorically.
Huck picked up a folder from the table.
"We found someone who knows Chalamet and could potentially help us to get what we need."
"And who is that?"
Huck handed him the folder. Fitz took it and opened it.
The first picture he saw was of Olivia. She was walking into an event with Chamalet, he held her hand as she walked. They looked like a couple. He kept calm and flipped to the next page. It was much of the same. There were 5 pages.
"Fuck no! Are you nuts?"
"This guy is trying to start a nuclear war and she could help and you're saying no?" Anton said, incredulous.
"That's exactly what the fuck I'm saying. You want her to do the same thing you hate her fucking guts for?"
Fitz closed the folder.
"This is different."
"Using her to get what you want? No."
"So what do you suggest we do?" Akio asked.
"I'm sorry, I have 5 strategists in here, how about you fucking strategize and come up with something. What else in on the agenda?"
One of the members of the crew stood.
"The president's family is requesting you attend his funeral as a long-time family friend."
"No, I'm definitely gonna pass on that one. Just tell them that I'm caught up in military business and won't make it for whatever day they're requesting."
The meeting continued for another hour before Fitz left and went to his room to check on Olivia and Lily.
When he opened his bedroom room, they were still in bed watching cartoons.
He charged over to Lily and lifted her into the air, blowing bubbles into her stomach.
"Daddy monster, daddy monster."
Lily burst into giggles.
"How was breakfast?" Fitz asked.
"Delicious, actually."
"Lily you smell good," Fitz said as he sniffed his daughter and sat on the bed.
"Your face looks better. It's healing." Olivia said.
"Oh a compliment, was the head last night that good?"
"It was horrible," she teased. "Your technique was way off."
He smiled and kissed her.
"Then why did you cum so many times."
Olivia opened her mouth but didn't have anything witty to respond.
"Cat got your tongue?" Fitz teased.
His reminder went off.
"I just came to check on you, we have some new tech coming, I have to go and watch the demo and then after I'm gonna hang in here with you guys for the rest of the day. How does that sound?"
"Sounds good."
He kissed Lily again.
"I'll be back in a little bit."
Fitz left and headed to the shutterdome. He'd been hearing about really high tech, 3-d printed face masking technology. Apparently, they were so good you couldn't tell them different from an actual face. He wanted to see for himself.
Almost 2 hours later he began making his way back to his room. He was about a hundred feet from the door when he saw Abby standing at the door, speaking to Olivia. Instantly, he became furious and marched over quickly.
"What the fuck is going?" he barked.
Abby turned around when she saw him and shrugged.
"I told her about Chalamet, it should be her choice if she wants to help."
Fitz took a deep breath to calm down.
"Get out of my face."
Abby shrugged and walked away.
"You could've told me about Chalamet, you know," Olivia said as she stepped aside so Fitz could enter.
Lily was sleeping in the middle of the bed.
"I didn't think you needed to know about it, you're not involved."
"I could help, I know him."
"That's exactly why I didn't tell you. You are not helping. You're not gonna be anywhere close to this."
"Why not? Because you saw a picture of us together-"
"-Olivia, I really don't want to talk about this."
He walked over to the bed and laid beside Lily. Olivia followed him and sat beside him on the bed.
"I'm not doing it Livie."
"Why not?"
"Because weren't not gonna do this. I'm not gonna use you to get what I want, especially not in that way, where your gonna have to use your body to get something."
"I'm not using my body."
Fitz sighed.
"Flirting with him, touching him, seducing him to get information? What would you call it?"
"Using my intellect," she said with a chuckle as she laid beside him. "I get it though. I'd only do it to help you but if you don't want to then I agree."
He cuddled her.
"Yeah. I think that's a boundary we shouldn't cross but can we cross the sex boundary...in the shower?"
Olivia turned around and stared.
"You think you're so smooth."
"Am I?"
"No, you're not but it works every time."
She sat up and pulled him up as well and walked him into the bathroom.
Forty-five minutes later, Fitz ran out at the sound of Lily crying.
"Lily, dada's here, dada's here," he said as he picked her up and kissed her.
Olivia walked out of the bathroom moments later. Wrapped in a towel wrapped with her wet hair dripping down her back.
"Is she okay?" Olivia asked.
"Yeah, I think she just woke up and didn't see us and got scared."
Fitz smiled at Lily. His beautiful toddler. With her honey brown hair and her dimpled cheeks.
"Are you hungry baby girl?" Fitz asked.
He picked up the phone by his bed and called the kitchen to order food for Lily.
Olivia removed her towel from around her body and reached into her bag for some underwear.
"Oh god. Please hide that perfect ass from me before my dick gets hard."
Olivia chuckled and slipped on her panties quickly and then one of Fitz's t-shirts that were thrown over the back of the couch.
"Okay, I'm dressed. Out of sight, out of mind," she said with a chuckle.
"I wish."
Fitz changed Lily's diaper and fed her some juice as they waited for the food to arrive.
"By the way, I had Rumi send some of my work stuff to your laptop since I left mine at home. I was working on it earlier."
"No prob," he remarked simply.
The days went by quickly and though Fitz loved having them with him. When he was sure there was no threat, he knew it was time for them to go home.
It was their last night there. In the days past, the issue with Angel Chalamet was still front and center but he wouldn't budge. Olivia hadn't mentioned it again but the deltas brought it up every day, especially since Angel was making a move that they couldn't get information on.
He'd been in the meeting for almost an hour. Bored and eager to go back to Lily. He was going to escort them home in a few hours.
"I just don't understand. If it was anyone else in the world, any woman at this base, you would have made them do it." Abby said.
It gave Fitz an idea.
"I just got an idea." Fitz nodded to himself. "Yeah, based on the intel, Chalamet has a gala in Paris in a few days. You can dress up and go there and see if you can't grab his attention long enough to get access to his phone."
"I don't know him, I don't even know how to approach him or what to do to keep his attention."
"Olivia is here, I'll see if she can stick around another day. Ask her whatever you'd like about him and then in a couple of days we can fly to France."
He stood.
"Great. Make the plans."
Fitz headed out and went back to his room. It was almost 10pm. When he walked inside, Olivia was sitting up in bed, using his laptop and Lily was asleep beside her. Their bag was packed up and they were both dressed to go home.
Fitz walked over to the bed and lifted her in the air. The laptop fell out of her lap as she chuckled.
"Fitz!" she yelped.
He wrapped her legs around his waist backed her up against the wall and kissed her.
"What was that for? She asked with a smile.
"I was wondering if you could stand it here for another day?"
"Why? Can't you leave?"
She eased herself out of his arms so she could stand.
"I can, it's actually up to you. I guess I need you to help me with something."
"What?"
"I've decided to send Abby to see if she could get the information from Chalamet. I was hoping you'd talk to her, maybe tell her anything you remember about him."
"I thought you didn't want me having anything to do with that?"
"No, also if I remember correctly, we decided that together but I digress, you wouldn't be involved- not really, umm, you'd just tell her what to do."
"You know, I really do need to get back, I've missed a lot of work this week."
"I know but one more day. Just stay until tomorrow after you talk with Abby and then I'll fly you home. I have to head to Paris for this Gala thing where Chalamet is gonna be."
"You're going to Paris? Well, that's not fair."
He chuckled.
"No, I'm serious, I'm not helping unless I come too."
"Absolutely fucking not."
"Okay well then take me home tonight. I'm not helping."
"The whole point of this is to keep you away from him. I'm not bringing you to the event he'll be at. That makes no sense."
"I don't have to go to the party with you but I can stay at the hotel when it's all over you can take me to the Eiffel tower and make my heart flutter as you kiss me in front of it."
Fitz shrugged.
"A few minutes ago you needed to be home so you could work and now you want to ditch that for a trip to Paris."
"No, I'm ditching it for a weekend of romance with my husband."
Fitz thought about it for a moment.
"If you came with me, who would keep Lily?"
"Sonia could come with us, I don't want Lily hours away from us."
"Okay. I'll think about it."
"Just say yes," she sang.
"Fine. yes."
She smiled. "Okay. I'll help."
