Piper was struggling to focus on her work. Cynthia hadn't been as easy going as she'd hoped when she'd returned late from lunch and then she'd yelled at Piper for dripping rain water over the custom made soaps. But it was nothing that couldn't be fixed and right now all that was racing through Piper's mind was one very hot dark haired lady.

She met Polly after work for drinks in a cute little bar over the street from the store called tonic. It was minimalist, all exposed wood and bose sound systems, but Piper loved the espresso martinis and Kat the bar tender always flirted with her. And tonight was no exception. Except that it was missing a fizz, she didn't find it as exciting today and she couldn't help but feel it was because of Alex.

She mentioned Alex to Polly who rolled her eyes. "Another hot asshole pipes?"

"You don't know she's an asshole," Piper said downing her drink in two large mouthfuls.

"No, but I know your type. She's going to be trouble."

Piper wanted to argue, but so far her limited experience of Alex Vause was making her think Polly could be right. Nobody that looked that good in leather could be anything but a whole bunch of trouble.

And then trouble walked straight through the doors of tonic, avec leather jacket. Oh my.

In her haste to tell Polly she knocked her friend's drink over.

"What the fuck!?" Polly yelled springing up from her seat like a jack in the box with ADHD.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry Pol," Piper said, one eye still on Alex Vause who seemed to be in cosy conversation with someone sitting in a booth by the doors.

Polly went to the bathroom to dry herself off.

"Your friend do something to piss you off?" Kat said pouring a glass of champagne and passing it to Piper.

"Something to take the edge of the evening."

She winked. There was no doubt about it, Kat was most girl's dream woman. Tall and athletic, covered in tattoos with an interesting story behind them. But even the champagne wasn't working and instead Piper kept glancing back at Alex.

The girl she was talking to looked around college age, maybe a few years younger than Piper and she was giggling at everything Alex was saying, seemingly mesmerized.

Piper knew it shouldn't bother her, but it did. It was irrational of course, they'd had one coffee together as they'd tried to avoid the New York rain, but somehow it felt a whole lot more than that.

Just then Alex got up and walked towards the bar. Piper straightened out her dress and smiled. But instead of saying hello to her, Alex fist bumped Kat.

"Piper, this is my cousin Alex," Kat said.

"Hey Piper," Alex grinned as if she was enjoying this.

Polly was right, she was trouble.
