A/N: If you're a Ruzek and Burgess fan this story isn't for you.

Hailey downed another shot as she slammed it down on her counter, she signed as she looked towards the couch where she knew Ruzek's jacket was. He had come by to make sure she was okay after being beaten and left for dead in the basement of a mad man, she smiled as she thought of Burges's and how she had escaped and managed to get the team to their location, saving both of their lives. She was pulled from her thoughts by a knock on the door; she set the liquor down before going to answer it.

"Hey," Burgess greeted her as she held up a bottle of red wine.

Hailey smiled as she held the door open for the cop.

Burgess frowned when she saw Ruzek's jacket lying over the couch.

"He came by to see if I was okay, I sent him home," Hailey assured her as she opened the wine and poured two glasses.

"It's none of my business," Burgess mumbled as she quickly gulped down the wine.

"Right," Hailey mumbled as she sat back down at the kitchen counter.

"How are you?" Burgess finally asked breaking the awkward silence that had fallen upon them.

"I'm holding up," Hailey mumbled as she showed her the ice pack she had been using on her swollen face.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?" Hailey asks confusion written on her face as she holds up the liquor bottle.

Burgess nodded as she took the empty seat next to her. She swallowed the hard liquor cringing as it slid down her throat before turning to see curious blue eyes studying her.

Hailey arched her eyebrow as she waited.

"Adam and I aren't together anymore and it's really none of my business it you two want to date."

"We aren't together," Hailey assured her. "It was just a couple of one night stands."

"Oh," Burgess mumbled.

"Does that bother you?" Hailey asked as she took another shot.

"Why would it?" Burgess shot back as she took the shot Hailey poured.

"Touché."

Burgess rolled her eyes, "I'm over him okay."

"Okay," Hailey replied as she held her hands up.

"I'm sorry," Burgess mumbled embarrassed as she rubs her hands over her face.

"For what?"

"Just showing up like this, it's late," Burgess mumbled as she stood up on wobbly legs.

"I'm glad you did," Hailey told her as she places her hand on her shoulder.

"God why am I letting this bother me so much," Burgess groans as she sits back down.

"What's really going on Kim?"

"We were supposed to get married and live happily ever after," she mumbles into her glass.

"What happened?" Hailey asks curious as she searches the eyes of the other woman.

"I fell for him while he was engaged to another woman," she reaches over and grabs the liquor, she chugs it in one swift motion setting the empty bottle down as she wipes her mouth. "We kissed while they were together, I helped him cheat."

Hailey remains silent as she listens to the story of how Ruzek broke both her and his fiancés hearts and now he was once again hurting Kim. "I'm sorry, I didn't know," Hailey assures her as she reaches over and takes her hand.

"I don't even know why I'm letting it bother me so much," Burgess mumbles.

"Because you loved him."

"Thought I did; now I'm not so sure."

"What do you mean?" Hailey asks as her eyebrow raise.

"I just think he liked the idea of being engaged, and the sex," Burgess mumbles.

"Must have been good sex then," Hailey blurts, her face turning red when she realizes she said it out loud.

Burgess frowns, "guess so," she mumbles as she sets her glass down.

"Hey, I'm sorry I'm drunk and rambling," Hailey assures her.

"It's okay I just need to get him off my mind."

"You need a one night stand girl," Hailey smirks.

"I couldn't sleep with just some random guy," Burgess cringed.

"Who said it had to be a guy?" Hailey shot back.

"Wait what?" Burgess asked as she blushed at the way the other cop was looking at her.

"I mean a woman, it's incredible," Hailey tells her with a smirk.

"I never really thought about it, except maybe once when I saw Lindsay kick some perp's ass," Burgess blushes as she looks down.

"She is really hot," Hailey smiles.

"Yeah," Burgess mumbles as she trails off not sure what to say.

"I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," Hailey says as she takes Burgess's hand. She was shocked when Burgess leaned in and kisses her.

"Oh shit," Burgess yells as she jumps back, "I'm so sorry."

"Hey don't be it's okay," Hailey assures her as she places her hands on her shoulders.

Burgess relaxes as Hailey rubs her shoulders, she takes a deep breath before locking eyes with the blue eyed cop, she leans in and kisses her again, smiling when she feels her kissing back.

Hailey tangles her hands in the brown locks as she tugs Burgess towards the bedroom, clothes are quickly discarded as they both fall to the bed.

Burgess wakes with a start as her and Hailey's phones both ring.

"Ugh," Hailey groans as she reaches for it, she listens on the other end before ending the call. "Voight wants us at the precinct," she tells Burgess as she begins to reach for her clothes.

Burgess can't help but stare as the blonde begins to get dressed.

"Here," Hailey smiles as she hands the woman her clothes before walking out the door and closing it behind her.

Burgess frowns as she quickly gets dresses before walking out, finding no sign of the other woman. "Great," she mumbles as she tries to find her keys. She looks up when she hears the door open and Hailey walks in carrying to big cups of coffee.

She smiles as she hands one to Burgess who accepts it.

"Thanks," she smiles.

Hailey nods as she grabs her keys, "ready?"

Burgess nods as she follows her out the door.

The ride to work is silent as both women cast shy glances at the other, finally Hailey breaks it.

"Look I won't say anything, if that's what you're worried about."

Her tone causes Burgess to feel guilty, "look yeah I don't want anyone to know but it's not like I'm ashamed it happened."

"You're not?" Hailey asks surprised as she parks next to Halstead's empty truck.

"Of course not, it was amazing," Burgess trails off.

"Glad I could help," Hailey snaps as she kills the engine.

Burgess was about to reply when Ruzek appears.

"Hey," he greets Hailey as he tries to kiss her; she turns her head before casting a glance towards Burgess before walking off into the building.

Ruzek glances towards her car, surprised to see his ex, he nods before following after the blonde.

Burgess stares holes at Hailey as she tunes out everything Voight is saying about an old case.

"Burgess?!" he shouts causing her to jump as she sees everyone staring at her.

"Sorry what?" she asks.

"My office now," he scolds as he turns and walks off.

Hailey gives her a tight smile as she passes her desk.

"Close the door," Voight snaps as Burgess does so.

She sits down as she waits for him to speak.

"This is why I don't allow dating in my unit," he tells her.

"Excuse me?" Burgess asks confused.

"I know you and Ruzek have been up and down but you need to get over it," he warns her.

"I'm long over it, and with all due respect my personal life is my business," she snaps at him as she storms out.

Hailey is shocked at the angry look on her face as Voight follows close behind her, "Burgess take the day off."

Burgess whirls around fire in her eyes as she grabs her stuff and storms out.

"I'll give her a ride," Hailey tells him as she follows. "Kim wait!" she yells as she chases after the pissed off cop.

"Just leave me alone Hailey," Burgess yells as she tries hard not to cry.

"Hey talk to me," Hailey pleads as she grabs her arm.

"I wish I had never gotten with him," Burgess cries out as she wipes her eyes angrily.

"Adam?" Hailey asks.

"He almost ruined my career and just now everything is always about him. He gets away with everything why I take the hit."

"Come on, I'll take you home," Hailey soothes as she leads her towards her car. She drops her off at her house promising to call her later as she drives off.

"Hey how is Burgess?" Halstead asks as he sits on Hailey's desk.

"She's fine," she replies as she glares daggers at Ruzek.

"Something happen between you guys?" Halstead asks sensing the tension.

"I got to get out of here," Hailey tells him as she grabs her stuff and storms pass a very confused Ruzek.

"Hey! What's going on?" he asks as he chases after her.

"Not now," Hailey tells him as she opens her car door.

"Did I do something?" he whines as he steps in front of the car.

Hailey rolls her eyes.

"Well?" he asks getting impatient.

"Fine you want to know what's bothering me?" Hailey snaps as her eyes flash with anger.

Adam crosses his arms as he waits.

"You led Burgess on while you were engaged to another woman, then you dump said woman and immediately get with Burgess, who you end up proposing to only to lead her on some more with no intentions of ever marrying her!" Hailey yells at him. "She took the hits every time, she lost out on intelligence because of you, and now she might loose everything again because of you!"

"Woah what did I do?" Ruzek asks as he raises his hands.

"Just move Adam," Hailey growls.

He nods as he moves out of the way, even more confused as he watches her speed off.

Burgess was flipping through channels when she heard a knock, "go away!" she shouts as she finally just turns the TV off.

"Come on Kim," Hailey shouts as she knocks again.

Burgess opens the door moving aside as Hailey walks in.

She's silent as she watches Burgess go and sit on the couch, she goes to sit next to her before speaking, "I lost it."

"What do you mean?"

"On Ruzek, I lost it," Hailey tells her as she runs a hand through her hair. "I'm usually so calm and collected but I just lost it on him."

"Why?" Burgess asks.

"I liked him to," Hailey admits as she places her head in her hands. "I fell for his charm."

"Hailey I'm so sorry," Burgess comforts her.

"God I'm so stupid," Hailey says as she gets up.

"No you're not, he has his moments."

"I don't regret it," Hailey says as she sits back down.

"Sometimes I do," Burgess tells her.

"I meant us."

Burgess's mouth drops open as Hailey leans in and kisses her. She's quick to deepen it as she leads her back towards the bedroom.

"No regrets," Hailey mumbles as she smiles.

A/N: Let me know what you think. Not a fan of how Ruzek treated Burgess or Hailey. Sorry not sorry.
