Before you read, please note that it took me an entire week to type this because I started on Friday, forgot about it over the weekend, typed a little of it Monday, didn't go to school Tuesday because of a dentist appointment that ended up getting rescheduled to next week, forgot about it Wednesday, and finished it Thursday. Now it is Friday, so please forgive anything that may not make sense, spelling errors, and confusing dates. Thanks for reading.

It was Friday, October 6th, 2017, and Honest's and Shadow's day started off... off. First, they listened to somebody from some big art college in City Escape talk about nonsense. They missed all of first and second periods to listen to her. Then, third period, Honest played a teacher and a couple of students in a word game, which she then won. Fourth, Honest worked on her fan fiction and then did nothing since she had done her work that she had planned to do that day yesterday.

Fifth, she cut out pieces of orange paper to make a flower. At lunch, Honest ate little potato squares that tasted strangely like summer sausage and the icing off of her little square of cake. Sixth, Honest took a test that she missed during first period, then she typed even more to her story. She typed about what she had done Fourth to Sixth. She had delivered her speech about why you should try new things yesterday, so Honest guessed she would have nothing to do next period. Eighth was a pep rally. Honest wished they could just skip it. There was no point in going to whatever game they were having that afternoon. Sonic was going to be in it, but he didn't want her to watch him.

"Will you come to my game, Shadster?" Honest gasped. She turned around to see Sonic talking to Shadow about what Honest had just been typing.

"Woah, woah, woah," Honest said, waving her hands as if she were signaling a pass was incomplete. "Have you ever thought that I might want to go?"

Sonic and Shadow both looked up at her. "No," Sonic said. He turned back to Shadow.

"I would really appreciate it if you did," Sonic said. Shadow looked confused.

"Why do you ask it like I'm doing a huge favor for you?" he asked.

"You would be." Sonic pointed up with his finger. "Just observe me and tell me what I did right afterwards."

"Or wrong," Shadow said.

"I'm never wrong," Sonic told him. He had the face he usually always had when talking to people, but it still set Shadow on edge. Haha. Edge. :3

Uh, anyway.. when they had all shown up to school on Monday, October 9th, 2017, Honest was the one on edge. (Did anyone else imagine Honest the Edgecat when I said that? You know, with heavy, dark eyeliner and a black hoodie dress :P.) She had given her speech Thursday, so she didn't have to worry about that anymore. She didn't have any sort of homework she had to turn into Dr. Eggman, so that was marked off her list of things to worry about, too. She didn't have anything to worry about, she thought. She knew exactly what she would work on fifth, as well! Then... why did she feel as if, at any moment, something terrible would happen?

Maybe she had just trained herself to expect those sorts of things to keep happening to her. It was sad if that was the case, but if it was, it was. It wasn't like this fact was going to make Honest feel any better about all this. After all, if she assumed she was just expecting something bad to happen, and it wouldn't actually happen to her, she would be letting her guard down. At any moment, something bad could happen, and she wouldn't be prepared for it, only making it do more damage...

Yeah. She was paranoid.

During lunch, Honest devoured her food, then her and Shadow put their sneak on, hiding from Mephiles while at the same time on a journey to the front doors of the school. When they got there, Honest let out a breath of air and sighed in relief. Then, suddenly, Honest felt herself grow further and further away from the /br /"Uh, Shadow-kun? Have you shrunk, or have I gotten taller?"

"Neither," he said, pointed to her feet. "Look who it is."

Honest hesitantly looked down. "Aah!" A heap of liquid darkness was forming out of the ground beneath her. Eventually a head emerged from the ick.

"Mephiles! Put her down immediately!" The dark double just blinked at him.

"Why does it matter to you what happens to the cat?" he asked.

"Uh.. because.." Shadow looked up at Honest.

"It shouldn't take you that long to reply! You care about me!" Honest exclaimed angrily.

"Y-Yeah. That sounds about right," he said. Mephiles just continued to come out of the ground and slowly expand to envelope her.

"Chaos spear!" Shadow announced, jumping into the air and throwing a spear of pure chaos energy at Mephiles. It stuck in him like a pin.

"Ouch," the embodiment of darkness said. He dropped Honest and regained his usual form. Honest fell to the concrete below with a thump.

"Ow-w-w," Honest complained. Shadow helped her up.

"Your shape, your form- I will remember. You. Will. Die." He shot straight up into the air as a liquid again, disappearing.

"Where did he go?" Honest asked. "Maybe he's on the roof?"

"Wherever he is, he's nowhere near us. Let's hope he stays that way." The bell rang. "Come on." He pulled her into the building by her arm.

Honest got her things and then followed Shadow, sort of the opposite of what they usually did. Sonic was waiting in front of Shadow's locker.

"Hello.. Faker~," he said, the word dragging out suspiciously.

"Hello, Faker," Shadow replied impatiently. "Are you going to allow me to retrieve my binder?"

"Oh! Uh, sure. Whatever you say, Faker~," Sonic slowly slid out of the way.

"Okay.." Shadow opened his locker to get his things for Mobius History. A million copies of Shadow the Hedgehog fell out, burying him.

"Oof.. Killed by your own game. What a way to go out. Tsk, tsk, tsk," Sonic said.

"I'm not dead, just completely overtaken with Edge," came the Ultimate Life Form's muffled voice from within the pile.

"He's becoming Dark Shadow!" Honest exclaimed, beginning to dig through the dozens upon dozens of Gamecube and PS2 cases.

"Oh. Is that how that works?" Sonic asked. Honest finally found the black hedgehog and helped him to his feet.

"No, no. He's fine. Phew." Shadow ripped his hand away from the blond cat and pointed it angrily at the Blue hedgehog.

"Why and how did you put all of those cases in my locker?" Before Sonic could reply, he had a gloved hand around his throat. "School hasn't even begun yet. I better not see you do anything like that again, got it?"

Sonic just smiled somehow despite the lack of oxygen he possessed. Shadow just "hmph"ed, dropping him and stomping off. Honest followed him.

Sonic was thankful to be breathing again. He stood up and watched them leave. "That was-" He coughed. "Totally worth every second," the blue rat struggled out.

He zipped away.

Now it was October 12th, 2017, and Honest was sitting in 5th period, Art, watching the clock. She found out from a classmate that the college that had just came and talked to them had gone bankrupt. How the- The bell rang.

"Are you going to stay and work on your-"

"No!" Honest exclaimed immediately, standing up and sprinting out of the room. The teacher just blinked.

Honest found Shadow standing by the side doors, waiting for her. He saw her coming and pushed the door open with a grunt.

"I'm here! No need to go to lunch without me, okay?" Honest told him, stopping to breathe.

"I wasn't planning to," he replied flatly. Though, when he wasn't angry, that was usually how he talked. He took the blond, cat girl's hand and pushed through the door with his shoulder. They walked down the concrete.

Honest looked down the slope to the windows of classrooms. "Those are bathroom windows. The one on the left's the girls'; the guys' the right. That next one is the janitor's closet. I don't even know why that one exists; it's always being covered with a curtain. Those three way down there let light into the Home Ec room next to the teacher's desk and the kitchens," Honest stated.

"Why are you telling me these things? Why did you even take time to memorize all of that?" Shadow asked her. She smiled.

"You never know when you need to make a hasty escape- or a sneaky entrance," was her excuse. Or reason. Shadow was unsure which it was.

"Right... Um, we better get a move on before they run out of food again," Shadow warned her. Honest nodded and they picked up their pace.

The hedgehog/cat pair didn't even bother with standing in line for the hotline. They knew they were having chicken-fried steak, which wasn't even remotely steak-like, but there was still a line wrapping all the way around the lunchroom. When they finally got to the food, it would be gone. So, Honest and Shadow went and got salads from the sandwich line, which had nobody there. There wasn't even one or two people standing around. Nobody. It was kind of eerie.

They sat down to eat at the table they usually sat at. Today they were accompanied by Amy Rose and Rosy the Rascal. Rouge hadn't shown up to school all week. Honest guessed she was sick or on a mission for GUN. It was most likely the latter. Every day Rouge had been sick in the past, she came to school anyway, usually sporting a tissue box, wearing twenty scarves, or something to a similar effect.

Honest collected crackers from everyone at the table and started tearing the packages open, devouring the buttery crackers in a flurry of crumbs.

Sixth period, Honest worked on her fan fiction a little bit. She added lots of action-packed scenes that were mostly fiction because things had been a little... boring after Jet had left.

Honest had an idea of what had happened to the greedy, green, hover-boarding hawk. He had most likely quit school so he could focus on doing... whatever rogues did. Honest googled "what do rogues do". All she could find were World of Warcraft wiki pages talking about the class. She did what her spiky, edgehog friend always did and "pft"ed. "Rogues wear leather armor and wield a variety of weapons..." It went on to say exactly what types of weapons rogues wield. Well, Jet didn't wear... anything, actually. And he doesn't use weapons.. does he? It had been awhile since Honest last watched any of the Riders cut scenes, but she was pretty sure that he just raced people; he didn't fight them.

said that rogues were "unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable people; scoundrels and rascals." Did that mean that Rosy was a rogue? She was a rascal. Honest knew that Jet was unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable. That could be summed up with three words- good, for, and nothing.

"One who is playfully mischievous; a scamp."

That would fit more with Bean, to tell you the truth.
"A vicious and solitary animal, especially an elephant that has separated itself from its herd."

Honest had to laugh at that one. Definitely not Jet. XD

Another website said rogues were "worthless people". That was... just kind of mean. ;(
