Hi there! So I've been meaning to update this story when I did my double update for MGA and TV, but funny story... So I had a version of this written up and almost ready to go at that time, but I scrapped it because, well, I hated it lol. What you're about to read is actually my third version of this chapter.
So fun fact about me: I've always had trouble talking to pretty girls.
There was this one time during my computer class in high school when I got paired up with one of the prettiest and most popular girls in our grade, and she was talking about one of her pet peeves. The kids around us were all listening intently and agreeing with her. So then, she turned to me and asked me what I would do, if I caught myself doing it... and I told her... I'd slap myself... She looked at me like I was a complete weirdo. As a matter of fact, the whole class looked at me like I was weird, but personally, I didn't blame them.
The only reason I'm able to be comfortable around Lisanna is because we've known each since the 3rd grade.
So imagine how I felt, when the first day after Lisanna and I had moved in, I was forced to come into contact with pretty girl after pretty girl, forcing to act as Lisanna's personal secretary.
"Oh, she's at practice?" The girl and her friends in front of me asked.
"Yep," I say, easing back into my room.
"Oh, okay. Sorry to bother you!"
I sighed.
I knew Lisanna was popular, but can't a girl get some solitude around here? Brenda gave me a moving in care package and I really wanted to try the oatmeal face mask in the box.
How do people keep finding our room anyway? But, then I remembered that our R/A (Resident Assistant) put our names on all of our doors to welcome us into the dorms.
I pressed play on the YouTube video I had paused on my laptop, whilst I read the instructions on the face mask. I pulled out a Cheetos puff from the snack drawer and started filling myself with unhealthy goodness.
By 8:32pm it had seemed as if those girls were the last of Lisanna's dearly departed friends. Finally! Time to whip out the oatmeal!
The consistency of the mask felt gooey and it was very cold, but I knew the end results would be more than worth it.
I heard another knock on the door.
Oh for the love of... When was this going to end?!
I swung the door open with way more force than necessary.
"Look, Lisanna's not here alright?!" I shout at my wit's end. "She's still at practice..."
... Huh?
In front of me, instead of one of the freshman girls from around the dorms that I was expecting, I was instead face to face with a boy with spiky, black hair and pale skin. He had a very desirable physique, as it could be seen thanks to the first three buttons on his white shirt being undone, and the silver cross chain on his neckline drawing attention to it. He had one hand shoved in his baggy, black pants and the other leaning against the door frame.
His eyes were skimming over my person, and I could see the beginnings of a half smile tugging at the sides of his lips. (Okay, what's with all the gorgeous people at this school?) Other than the mortifying oatmeal mask that made me look like a zombie, I had to look down to see just what else he was staring at, and I jumped when I saw my Mickey Mouse bedroom slippers still on my feet. I can not believe I forgot those were still on my feet.
What can I say though? I'm a fan of the mouse.
That wasn't the worst part though, the worst part, was that I was also wearing my High School Musical pajamas from middle school, with Zac Efron's face plastered boldly across my chest (what can I say? I'm also a fan of the Bolton).
Crap.
His left eyebrow did a little twitch while he looked at me like I was the most intriguing thing in the world.
I really wished he would stop looking at me like that.
"Well... Sorry to bother you," he said, finally getting out of my door frame. "Well when you see her, tell her that Gray was looking for her," he said turning and casting me one last gaze on his way down the hall.
When my door was closed and I was in the privacy of my own room, I viscously kicked off my bedroom slippers as the prickly feelings in my fingertips and chest intensified. I turned and caught a glimpse of myself and my mask was cracking at this point.
Damnit! How do I consistently keep making myself look like an idiot in front of my peers?!
Well whatever.
He's only one guy... and I doubt I'll be seeing him much anyway.
I ended up falling asleep before Lisanna got back in the room, but apparently she came back around 1:00am (which is right before I fell asleep by the way). By 7:00am, the little dorm room filled with low sounding brass instruments, then the sound of explosions before that winded down and a pop song started to play. 'Everybody Talks' by Neon Trees as a matter of fact.
That's right. My damn alarm.
I reached over to where my phone was plugged in charging to turn off the alarm. The bed next to me was empty, sheets and blankets neatly folded, like no one was ever there. That didn't even surprise me. Lisanna had to be out the room by 6:00am to go jogging with the Fairies and stuff.
Ever since we got this school, I've barely been able to see Lisanna.
Things moved pretty quickly after auditions. Lisanna had to spend the rest of the summer in band camp for incoming freshmen, and after we moved into our dorm room together she's been having to leave at the butt crack of dawn and come back in the dead of the night because of practices. You see, she's undergoing a process called crabbing, and from what I understand, she'll be able to call herself a true Fabulous Fairy after she finishes her freshman year. Its sort of like a rite of passage.
I mean, it's not like I'm upset or anything. I'm over the moon that Lisanna's finally getting to live her dream of being a Fabulous Dancing Fairy, I just hate to be woken up early in the morning for any reason. Like, I would literally kill somebody for my sleep.
This weekend would mark the first football game of the season, as well as the first game for the band and the Fairies. I'm stoked, so I know Lisanna is bursting at the seams with nervous energy.
As I freshened up in the bathroom cabinet, I was reading a Post-It note Lisanna had left me, explaining that she had came back late and left early for practice.
'Oh, and don't forget you have an 8am this morning Juvia,' her note finished with a smiley face.
I groaned loudly in response. I could hear the smile in her voice through the words on the paper.
By 8:05am, I was wandering on the campus grounds outside of the freshman dorms, lost and confused as hell.
Outside of the freshman dorms was a long and wide brick walkway that led to a flagpole with Fiore's national flag on it, signifying the center of our campus. From there, I was a sitting duck.
"U-um, excuse me, can you tell me were the Main Building is?" I asked some girls walking out the dorms.
"Oh yeah sure, its right past the…"
After they finished explaining everything to me, I smiled and nodded as the two girls went about their way. I wanted to cry. I was still lost.
Let's see, I know where the freshman dorms are, where the cafeteria is, the bus stop and the courtyard...
I don't know anywhere else...
Well that's just great! And on top of that I was going to be late to class.
"Alright catch you guys later," I heard a voice in the distance. Coming out of a building north of the flagpole, were a bunch of guys, all toting big, black cases. I'm curious. I mean, it was early in the morning, (the butt crack of dawn as I called it) and the first set of classes on campus were 8:00ams and those technically didn't start until 8:20am. So why were they just coming out of the academic buildings?
Something about that building looked very familiar... I can't quite put my finger on it right now.
A couple of them walked past me, some of them were really tall and large, and my stomach dropped like a rock just looking at them, let alone asking them for directions. One of the passing boys looked me right in the eyes, he was tall and very large with jet black hair. I felt so freaking embarrassed that I slammed my gaze to the brick pavement. God, I'm awkward.
The last boy in the pack of guys was one who wasn't as tall as the others (but still taller than me), who was really tan and adorning a spiky pink mane, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. There was a large, carefree grin on his face and he had one hand locked behind his head while the other was holding his large black case. Unlike the other guys who didn't seem to notice me at all, he noticed me immediately.
"Hey... you lost or something?"
White flashed before my eyes as my face suddenly began to feel hot. Was it that obvious?
Oh yeah! I remember now what's so familiar about that building. It was the same one the Strauss' and I had to go to for tryouts. The Performing Arts Centre.
That's where the Band Hall is.
Which means... that these guys... are probably in the band...
Duh, Juvia! And those cases were probably holding their instruments too!
"Uh sorry, but do you know where the Main Building is?"
He began explaining to me where I should go, using hand gestures and everything, but it felt like he was talking in another language. I guess he read the confusion on my face (that I was trying to hide) and stopped explaining things to me.
"You know what, why don't I just take you there?"
I was flabbergasted to silence. I mean, it's not like I want him to go out of his way, but at this point, what choice did I have? However, he assured me that he was going there anyway for a class.
"So what's your name?" He asked striking up a conversation. "I don't think I've ever seen you around before... And I'm pretty sure I've seen all of the freshmen at least once."
I suddenly felt self conscious. I hardly ever leave my dorm room unless it's to go to classes or to eat.
Was I maybe too much of a hermit?
"Oh well, that's probably because I'm from out of town," I lie between my teeth. Well, me being from out of town wasn't a lie, but that certainly wasn't the reason why he's never seen me around before.
He chuckled, but his face was so juvenile that it looked... boyish.
"So tell me stranger, what's it like in Magnolia for your first time?"
I almost wished he hadn't asked that question, because me and my big mouth couldn't wait to get a couple things off my chest, like 'why were people always shooting off firecrackers at night', or 'why the drivers here raged on the road so much', or 'why pumpkins were basically the national vegetable here'. At first, his face was surprised, like he didn't think I had all this ranting and raving in me, then, he relaxed into a smile seemingly amused.
Once I was done, it hit me that I might've been inappropriate dumping all of this on him, but, (and I could be wrong) I don't think he minded.
"Well what about you?" I asked. "What were you guys doing in the PAC so early in morning? Was it band practice?"
It could've just been me, but he looked a little bashful for a second there. He scratched his cheek and averted his gaze. "Well yes and no. It wasn't exactly band practice since the whole band wasn't there. Just a couple of different guys, from a couple of different sections that wanted me to help them with their sound."
My eyes widened. "So you guys were there practicing on your own?"
"Well yeah. We're all crabs so we've got to help each other out."
My eyes widened again. They were all crabs? And there were so many of them too that wanted his help. Just what kind of guy is he? And wait, didn't he say 'from a couple of different sections'? So all of them didn't play the same instrument?
Color me impressed.
The more we talked, the more at ease I felt. He had a way of making me feel like we've been friends for years, and I was thoroughly amazed since I just met this man. As the sun finally decided to rise, it bathed us both in it's golden light, and when we turned a corner and the sun hit his grin and spiky, pink hair, I had to stop for a moment.
Huh.
He was kinda cute, when you looked at him the right way.
"So what's your name?" He asked peaking an eye to look at me. "Mine is Natsu."
Natsu... My what a strange name. I guess I shouldn't talk since my name's sort of Spanish.
"I'm Juvia."
Our walk took us to practically the front lawn of the campus, where there was a huge, three story brick building with a huge bell as the centerpiece. If there were ever a building appropriately named "The Main", this would be it.
"Looks like we're here," he said beholding the grand architecture like I was.
"Natsu!"
We both turned to see a blonde with shades on beckoning for the pinkette. "What the hell are you doing here?! Class is in the opposite direction!"
"Oh shit," he muttered under his breath. I could hear the panic in his voice.
"Sorry, I gotta go!" He started. "But don't be afraid to hail if you see me around... Don't be a stranger!" With that he took off in a sprint in the opposite direction with his blonde friend following closely behind. I checked my phone for the time. It was 8:15am. Crap, I was still going to be late if I didn't get to stepping.
"Alright class, I gave you all pieces of paper when you came in the door," said the professor for my Freshman Orientation class. (This wasn't my 8am class by the way, that class is already finished and I'm on my second class for the day.)
"My name is Azuma, and I'm going to ask you a series of questions and I want you all to make some assumptions about me."
I sighed in relief. For a second I thought this was a pop quiz. But wait, I have to make assumptions about this guy? Isn't that just rude on all sorts of levels? I stole a quick survey at the rest of my freshmen class and they all looked as cool as cucumbers. Am I the only one the least bit self conscious of this?!
Whatever. I'll never understand Magnolians.
He started asking things like how old we thought he was, what kind of car did he drive, did he get divorced or not, does he look like a grandfather, oh, and this doozy, what terminal illness did he once have?
At the end, he asked everyone for their answers (introducing themselves first of course) and it was pretty interesting hearing everyone's answers in comparison to the truth. And the truth was almost more fantastical than the assumptions. For example, he actually is a grandfather even though he doesn't look a day over thirty, he battled cancer for a decade and he's in the middle of a divorce. I'll admit it was a pretty interesting way to start the class instead of the standard, 'introduce yourself' and 'icebreakers' routine.
"So, before I move on to the syllabus, do any of you have more questions?"
A single hand raised from dead center in the class, but I couldn't see who it belonged to from the other students' heads. He beckoned for them to stand.
"Hi, my name is Meredy by the way, and I'm actually from Alvarez. My question, and pardon my profanity now prof, but what the fuck is with Magnolia's obsession with pumpkins? I've been here for a little while but that still baffles me."
"OH MY GOD, YES!"
I had gotten out of my chair before I even realized it, and the entire class turned to look at me. Both my hands flew over my mouth, while my cheeks felt like they were on fire. I hadn't said a single word in this class yet, but this is the first thing that I blurt out?
Well... it wasn't like I wasn't curious.
Towards the end of summer break when I had been spending more time at the Strauss' (they were helping Lisanna and I move in), Mira had been taking me to certain restaurants in town to get a feel for the city, but all the local delicacies included pumpkin related meals for some reason.
After class, I was hungry so I was on my way to the cafe for a bite to eat. There were so many students traversing the lawn at this point, I was partly surprised that I wasn't pushed over and trampled on.
I ended up getting swept with the traveling crowd
The sun glistened through the hallway windows of the PAC, and I caught sight of a group of drop dead gorgeous girls, bustling down the hallway in sports bras and shorts and other athletic wear, all while toting duffel bags.
I had to stop and stare. Their beauty was blinding.
I didn't know any of their names except for Lisanna and Mira, but they all had such distinct looks that once I learned their names, it would be impossible to mix one of them up with another.
Speaking of Lisanna and Mira, their platinum blonde manes were easy to spot amongst the crowd, with Mira deep in conversation with a red head, and Lisanna talking to the purple haired girl from auditions. Lis and the girl she's talking to, are what you'd call, "crab sisters" since they're both going through the process together. Frankly, based off of her performance at auditions, I'm not surprised she made the team too.
I was however, a little surprised when I had found out that they had narrowed down all those talented dancers to just those two. Everybody else who made the team were vets.
The vets, who were at the very front, were talking and laughing up a storm, the sun bathing their beautiful faces and wild hair colors. All the girls... They all looked like they were having fun.
"They're pretty gorgeous huh?"
I jumped out of my skin at the unknown intruder to my admiring. When I turned, I saw the pink haired girl from class next to me chomping on a bag of spicy Cheetos. Nothing on her face showed she cared that she had sort of randomly stood next to me, or that she had scared me. As a matter of fact, she looked quite bored.
"Want one?" She offered.
I shook my head politely, while trying to rack my head for her name. We were just in class together too...
"You're Juvia right? That was awesome earlier, by the way."
I can only assume she meant my random outburst in class, which, I wouldn't classify as awesome, but hey, at least I know I'm not alone.
"I was beginning to think I was the only one in this town of weirdos who was actually sane," she took another mouthful of chips. "I mean, I'm probably still right... You're from Fiore right, just a different town?"
If you're wondering how she knows so much, that's because, Professor Azuma still made me get up and introduce myself at some point during the class.
"No matter," she shrugged, getting down to the last of her chip bag. "You can be the weirdception."
I'm the... 'weirdception'?
She probably read the confusion on my face when she looked back at me and sighed. "You know, my 'weirdo exception'." She did exaggerated air quotations just to made sure I got the phrase. "Keep up Lockser."
After a long week, the weekend finally came. Thank God, I was actually counting down the days.
It's finally time for the first game.
If I thought I was nervous, Lisanna was practically dying.
Lisanna didn't sleep in our room the night before. She packed a duffel bag of different things she'd need and said she'd be spending the night at Laki's so they could get ready early enough and be at the Fairy room for 5am. The game didn't start until 11:00am.
The first game was an away game, and since I didn't have a car or anything I was catching a ride with Elfman and his heavy duty truck (apparently because a truck is "the only way for a man to drive").
Man, can I just say that I never realized how hot Fiore can be? My phone said it would be 86° this morning, but when we got there, it was 106°. I was melting.
When we got there, the stadium was packed, and the visitor section was littered with people wearing blue and gold, and holding blue and gold pom poms. The MU school colors.
Impatiently, I turned to my driver, fanning myself. "The game was supposed to start half an hour ago, where are they?"
"This is obviously your first time to a MU game," he said raising an eyebrow at me. "We're always late."
And then, I heard it.
There was a drum cadence coming from the tunnel leading to the entrance where the band was supposed to emerge from. I heard a collective chant.
"Aye-oh! Aye-oh!"
The cheers of people who were inside the tunnel already, echoed out.
"Woohoo! Let's go Mag. U!"
"Let's go Fairies!
"Alright now!"
"Yes ladies!"
It was easy to tell the Fairies and the band were in the building.
"It's them! It's them!" Brenda grabbed my arm and shook me excitedly.
Oh! And I forgot to mention that Brenda decided to make the journey down here today to support Lisanna at her first game. She's such a sweetheart.
Damn it! I wanted to hop out of my seat and run down to the entrance of the tunnel and watch them come in. People in the visitor's section had their phones out and cameras aimed at the tunnel entrance, so I did so too.
God, I'm so excited!
The drum cadence went on for another excruciatingly long two minutes when we all knew they were right there, we were just waiting for them to come out.
And then, finally...
The crowd closest to the entrance started shrieking first and everybody immediately started standing up and shaking their pom poms. Hell, even the school we were playing against stood on their feet.
The Fairies strutted in first.
The girls were adorned in a glittering, gold two piece that sparkled once it hit the sun. Everybody had their hair in the same kind of elegant pin curl, along with gold character heels and white gloves. Their gold skirt bottoms swished with their hips as they did their elegant strut to the stans.
Everyone was going nuts.
"Yes Erza!"
"Come on Mickey!"
"Yes Ladies!"
"COME ON EVERGREEN! STRUT EVERGREEN!" Came Elfman's voice from beside me, literally drowning everyone else's out.
I jumped all the way out of my skin at the bass and volume in his voice. Being completely caught off guard by his sudden enthusiasm, I turned to Brenda. She looked just as lost as I did and shrugged while continuing to fan herself with her paper fan.
Finally, I caught sight of Lisanna. She was in line, right behind the girl who was leading looking just as poised and as elegant as the other girls. The sight nearly brought tears to my eyes. All those videos of the Fairies of years past that she and I watched together, and here she is... Finally one of them.
"Let's go Lisanna!'
"LET'S GO MIRA! LET'S GO LISANNA!"
I wiped the tear that was threatening to spill from my eye while Brenda and Elfman cheered. Once I caught myself, I took the pom pom that Meredy lent me and jumped back on my feet.
"Yay Lisanna! THAT'S MY BEST FRIEND!"
The rest of the game felt like an eternity was passing instead of just three hours due to the heat. It was so hard to enjoy myself when I could feel the nasty tan I was developing. Twilight Ogre University's football team turned out to be pretty good. The first and second quarter, they were ahead by a decent margin. By the third and fourth quarters however, we completely dominated.
The Fairies and the band had their own section in the visitor's side, barricaded of course from the rest of us. The band members wore really fancy blue and gold uniforms with MU in fancy print on the very front, and smaller 'M's on their hats. They too, wore gloves.
The Fairies had about five rows to themselves, the girl leading front and center sat in her own row, with four girls in the row behind her, and three girls in the back row (there was an empty row between each of them so they wouldn't hit each other when they danced). Lisanna sat on the end of the front row, while Mira was seated in the back row.
"Let's go over and say hi!" Brenda said, smiling and nudging me. That didn't sound like a bad idea to me.
Maneuvering through the hot bustling crowd was a bit of an issue. I kept rubbing against people accidentally and someone even shot me a death glare. At that point, I wanted to turn back.
Brenda was determined however, for us to say hi to the Strauss girls, so she grabbed my hand we made it to the barricade right next to the Fairies.
Man, can I just say I'm jealous. Here I am, molting out of my skin, but the Fairies are all being passed pretty little parasols to protect them from the sun, along with hand-sized, battery operated fans. I'm pretty sure I saw them with bottles of cold water too.
The band cranked up, right as we were about to call. The MU section started shaking their pom poms to the beat of the happy, spirit song. The girl in front started to do some moves, and then she repeated it with the girls behind her doing the same thing. The moves were dainty yet energetic, to match the tone of the song. Their uniforms sparkled with every swish in the sunlight. The girls all smiled so brightly.
Brenda took this moment to comment on how the big the band was. I looked up and saw just how much of this large ass section was taken up by the band, and boy was she right.
The girls sat for most of the game, but like I said it was short and very hot (I found out later that the temperature rose to 138°) so I can't say that I'm surprised.
That was, of course, until halftime.
The band came into the field after an energetic introduction by the announcer, and starting marching into a rose formation. I could've sworn the crowd went into a collective "ooh". The rose was super intricate, as it was lovely. After that, they continued to play more old school tunes marching into various diamond and 'X' formations. All of which had moving parts. The crowd for MU and Twilight Ogre went crazy.
Then, it was time for the Fairies.
"Please put your hands together for the Fabulous Dancing Fairies as they dazzle you with beauty, flair and grace..."
After the crowd finally died down some, I pulled out my phone to record. I'm not going to lie, I had to zoom all the way in because the girls looked so tiny compared to the army of band members on the field.
The girls' danced with energy, and a bunch of those leaps and turns that I couldn't do during tryouts showed up in this routine. Makes sense.
"The next tune you'll be hearing is 'In my Feelings' by Drake," the announcer said as the girls strutted off the field.
"Come on everybody, jam with us! All we can say is that this desert heat has got us all up in our feelings today..." He trailed off.
"Ha! Hahahaha..." I was laughing my head off, because it was so painfully true.
The band members, with the exception of the drummers all put their instruments down and started to dance, much to the delight of the crowd. They ended it off with a song that was popular, locally in Magnolia, because our side went crazy as they marched off.
Okay, I really need to get out of this heat. My arms are turning red.
"Juvia!" Brenda cried noticing my arms too.
Long story short, she dragged me out of the stadium to the consessional area and chastised me for not wearing more sunscreen. I wasn't going back up there even if I wanted to. Thankfully, the game ended not too much later.
The girls led the charge of the march out (other than the band directors in front of them) and the band followed. The symbols clapped and the snare and bass drums sounded off while the rest of the band chanted; just like in their entrance.
The band finally stopped marching once they were right in front of the rows of buses that were waiting for them outside stadium property.
"Juvie!"
I turned around, and was bulldozed by Lisanna still in her gold attire. Everywhere she touched hurt like hell because of my sunburn, but I endured it for her sake.
"I'm so happy you came!"
"Well of course Lis! I wouldn't have missed this for anything!"
Her happy blue eyes trailed past mine behind me, and her jaw went slack.
"Brenda!" She shrieked throwing herself into Brenda's arms. My adopted mother laughed while accepting her embrace.
"I can't believe you made it too! I'm so happy!" She sniffled. Brenda caressed her hair and whispered something to her and smiled. I smiled too.
I'll let them have this moment.
I instead focused myself on finding Mirajane, which I didn't have to look too far. I turned around again and saw her approaching us with Elfman in tow.
"Hello there Juvia," she greeted with a smile. I didn't get a chance to look at Lisanna up close too much, but Mira truly was a sight to behold.
The gold sequin top was actually a halter top but it actually had on off the shoulder element to it also. (Can I just say that Mira's boobs look great?) The skirt part wasn't even a full skirt as it didn't cover all of their butts, the material was intentionally a little higher on the sides showing their voluptuous thighs. Oh, and the mid-drift, can we talk about that? Mirajane's stomach was flatter than an iron board and her waist was so small, an outfit like this fit her body perfectly. The little pumped heels made her calves look really shapely.
She was wearing very little makeup, but her skin looked flawless and shined like the sun. The only noticeable makeup she had on was her red lipstick, and shimmery gold eyeshadow. I'm not entirely sure, but I think she's wearing mascara too.
Mirajane had a really cute, child-like smile. Even looking as grown up and womanly as she did, something about her still achieved child-like innocence.
"Hi! I wanted to find you to tell you congratulations..." I trailed off. I was kind of star struck looking at her in that uniform. A true Fairy.
"Well don't be shy," she teased and beckoned me for a hug, which I gratefully obliged. I suddenly felt smushed against Mirajane's soft breast whilst being simultaneously lifted off the ground, as Elfman hugged us both.
All in all, I'd say it was a successful first game.
The very next day, there was a video circulating online of the Fairies' entrance into the stadium and their debut for the season.
'Magnolia University Fabulous Dancing Fairies Highlights vs TOU'.
The video was published by 'Reedus TV' and even though it was uploaded 9 hours ago, it had 58k views.
The smile on my face froze.
SAY WHAT?!
I mean, I remembered Lisanna saying the team was very popular online and stuff, but holy-
I remembered seeing all sorts of camera men and videographers, baring the heat all game long just to film the band and the girls, but I seriously can't believe the video is this popular!
"Juvie!"
Startled, I jumped. Lisanna hovered over me as I sat at our table in the cafeteria, my face buried in my phone. We were supposed to be having Sunday brunch together, just the two of us, which I reckon to be well deserved after a hectic day yesterday. We both needed to just chill... Plus I was looking forward to spending quality time with my roommate.
I quickly turned my phone off.
"C'mon, let's get our food," she said.
"Alright," I said, as I scooted out the booth to follow her. As we made our way to the buffet area, Lisanna's phone started to buzz in the back pocket of her jeans. I recognized the caller ID.
'BF' with the beating heart emoji.
Oh right! I still haven't met this guy yet! And we've been on campus for a while too...
"Lisanna!" A male voice shouted above the bustling hubbub in the cafeteria. She turned around and her face lit up.
"Gray!"
Said boy in question, had his phone to his ears as he did a light sprint over to where we were.
"Hey," he said, his voice dropping a little lower. "I tried to call you..."
They embraced each other warmly, with Lisanna's arms wrapping around his neck and his firm arms snaking around her waist. The two of them fit together like a glove. I was in awe.
My stomach did a backflip suddenly when realization hit me.
This is the boy who saw me in my High School Musical PJ's with an oatmeal mask on my face.
So you mean to tell me that Gray was Lisanna's mystery boyfriend this whole time?!
"WHHHHHAAAAAAAATTT THE F-"
To be continued...
Big thanks to: Alfy's World, Checkmate-13, AJ, Guest, WritingHobbyist2020, TheSettingDawn, Marshmallow apples for reviewing!
I also particularly appreciate the people from MGA who came over to read and to my Guest reviewer who was in colorguard- that's so cool! Fun fact about me: I've actually never participated in band beyond high school level! Lol, and even that is limited, so welcome to my story!
