Hey there!
So just to clarify, (since this was a concern that was brought up after my last chapter) the reason I put a spotlight on the dancers too is because they're just as much a part of the band as the musicians are. They all fall under the jurisdiction of the band director. Like I mentioned at the beginning, I have limited experience with being in a band myself (although I do have experience being on a dance team) so I don't want to incorrectly depict something I wasn't familiar with anyway. Of course, as the story goes on, I'll start diving deeper into the band and it's members (lol, look at the title), but just give me a some time, 'kay? :)
Secondly, the reason why Juvia is so "average" is because she acts as the segway to introduce the readers to the world of band that has already been established. We learn along with her. That's why she doesn't play an instrument or anything (again to the person who seemed concerned). And this story will highlight a bit of college life from her perspective too.
Oh! I also just wanted to say that I'm basing the MU band in my story, off of the band from Southern University in real life (if you were interested in checking them out).
Lastly, I wanted to say that I wrote this chapter shortly after I finished chapter two, so it was ready to go for a while now. I told myself I'd update this story again after I updated MGA and TV, but I'm going to be taking a break from this website for a while, and I figured I might as well upload this now since I don't know how long that'll be.
I really appreciate you, if you read all of this! :)
Enjoy!
Chapter 3 - On the Lawn

'Okay! I want Evergreen to loosen up. She's always been tight but now it's extremely noticeable b/c she's in the front. Erza and Mira were giving me life as usual. And Lisanna is adjusting well. I'm not surprised, I'm sure she's been working towards this.' 213 likes
'Evergreen is so damn regal! She wasn't necessarily my pick for captain but I'm not mad at all! Something about her aura just does it for me! I hope people give her a chance.' 99 likes
'Something just looks off. I saw the march-in on IG and now a few minutes of stands. But hey, what do I know. I'm pissed tho.' 83 likes
'I'm sorry, but coming off of an era like Karameel's, the only logical choice for captain would've been one of the upperclassmen who SHOULD'VE been on the team right now. But if they were going to go this route, I would've preferred Mirajane, or even Erza in all honesty. Nonetheless, I'm not going to watch this year.' 269 likes
Lisanna nibbled on her veggie breakfast casserole as she listened to Gray intently while he talked in between bites of bacon and egg. I've decided to busy myself by reading the comments on the video of the Fairies marching into the stadium, so I wouldn't feel completely like a third wheel. What I started to read surprised me though. So many people were hating on this girl named Evergreen, who I'm assuming was the brown haired girl up front leading. The captain.
The whole comments section was very, very divided on how they felt about her. Some people seemed to like her, while others hated her guts. One thing they all seemed to have in common though, was the fact that nobody was expecting her to be up front.
As someone who was at the game in person, I was only in complete awe of the woman named Evergreen. She most certainly had a very confident aura about her. She carried herself with more grace than the others and she was very beautiful. Her soft brown hair swished gracefully as she led the Fairies down the tunnel. And she had the most exotic eyes! I mean seriously, I can't describe it well, but they were very unique. She did squint quite a lot though. It made me wonder if that's because of the sun, or because she wore glasses.
Either way, I thought she was doing a great job as captain.
The Fairy fans seemed to think differently though.
Lisanna covered her mouth to shield her chewed food as she let out a boisterous laugh at something Gray said. An accidental snort came out of her, which only happened whenever she thought something was really funny. Gray was laughing too, wiping a tear from his eyes at whatever the joke was.
So I guess, brunch with Lisanna and I, turned into brunch with Gray, Lisanna and I.
How awkward.
"You haven't eaten any of your food yet Juvie," Lisanna commented, noticing I hadn't touched anything in front of me. My tray consisted of a small plate of sliced fruit, a small bowl of fresh oatmeal for an appetizer, for the main course I had two slices of French toast, scrambled eggs with cheese, a couple strips of bacon and a small separate bowl full of sausages.
What can I say? Your girl likes to eat.
"That's because I haven't gotten anything to drink yet," I say on the spot, thankful for the excuse to get out of there.
As I scooted my way out of the booth, Gray and I accidentally made eye contact with each other, but I quickly turned away.
I'm not so good with really attractive people, remember?
I made my way to the beverage station and had a small dilemma on what I was going to drink. Usually, I'd just have a cold apple juice to swallow my food down in the mornings, but I saw they had hot water and tea bags available. I couldn't help the small smile that formed on my face.
My mood was already improving.
When I got back to the table, I had my Lipton tea bag seeping in my mug with a couple packets of sugar and a lime slice to top it all off.
I took the lime slice and squeezed every last drop from every last pulp in the green thing, and once I was done I went on to happily start pouring the sugar in from the packets.
The whole time Gray and Lisanna were staring at me.
"You squeeze lime in your tea...?" Gray asked confused.
I continued to shake the sugar packets, two at a time, so that all the sugar was at the bottom before I ripped it open to put in my tea.
"Well... yeah," I say. I was honestly confused at what he was so confused about. "It's a little trick my adopted mother Brenda taught me. She always loved to drink tea, so I think I caught that from her, but one day I remembered being sick with the flu and she made me black tea the next morning with a moderate amount of lime squeezed in. I was skeptical at first because I would usually drink my black tea with cream in it, but listen, after she sweetened that cup..."
I let out a small hum at the memory of that precious first cup of lime tea. The mug was warm and the tea hit the right spot in my stomach. My smile came back again.
And then suddenly I froze.
My eyes bulged out of my sockets as I turned mechanically to look at Gray and Lisanna, who were both still staring at me. My cheeks began to feel hot.
There I go again. Oversharing.
If someone could just put a filter over my mouth so don't go around spreading word vomit all the time, that'd be great. Thanks.
My head was killing me.
I was packing my chemistry textbooks and notebook as our class ended. Why couldn't I just be a nursing major without taking any science classes? If there was a medical school that didn't care if I took science classes or not, I'd totally go there. The funny thing is, chemistry was my favorite subject back in highschool. I used to love anything that dealt with science.
But I've come to find, that at this school chemistry is murder.
For starters, what the heck is a PSA?! And why do I have to take it every time I come to this class?!
I can already see this class was going to be the death of me.
I felt a tap on my shoulder.
Startled, I jumped as I turned around to see who it was. I was face to face with a brown skin girl with beautiful brown eyes and short green hair. She had on jeans overalls with one of the straps hanging and a black shirt with white hearts on it. The outfit showcased all of her curves, and boy did she flaunt them well.
"Sue!" I cried with a smile.
"Juvia!" She smiled opening her arms to accept the hug I was already easing on her.
Sue and I went to the same highschool together, Phantom Lord, in Clover Town.
"I'm so glad to see you!" I cried.
"Umm, why didn't you tell me you were coming to MU?" She said once we separated.
"It's a... bit of a funny story..." I say with an awkward smile.
You see, when there wasn't Lisanna, there was Sue.
Sue and I weren't best friends in highschool or anything, but we were definitely solid friends. After Lisanna moved to Magnolia, I had lost my only calling card to make new friends. Trust me, I gave it a shot, and turns out I'm terrible at it. I enjoyed staying to myself, so it didn't really bother me that I wasn't popular. However, I could also count on Sue coming by every so often just to eat lunch with me, or to talk to me and see how I was doing. She and I weren't in the same homeroom, and we didn't have any classes together, and even though I knew she had other stuff going on, I always appreciated the little things she did for me.
Sue gave me a look, one that said 'I know you don't expect me to believe that,' but thankfully she let it go.
"Girl, I was sitting in the back of the class looking at the back of your head for the longest, thinking, is that Juvia?"
I chuckled as the two of us walked out the door and for me, onto my next class.
Our time to get reacquainted was short as I had to go to another class right after chemistry, but our conversation was so fun it made the time fly by. Before I was able to ask her anything else though, she was called over by a guy with glasses (who I recognized as Bora, because he went to Phantom too) and another girl I didn't recognize.
"Hey I gotta go," she said sprinting away. "See you again in class!"
I smiled and waved her bye.
Well, even though Chem 111 was still going to be murder, it's nice to know that I won't be struggling alone.
"Does anyone remember that Foot Locker commercial from a couple years ago that got a lot of backlash?"
Nobody in my Freshmen Orientation class raised their hands, even though there was a collective sharing of confused expressions. Professor Azuma turned on the large tv screen in the corner of the room and stood at the PC and played the video he was referring to. When it was done, he gave us an exercise to do, which required us to partner up. Everybody around me immediately started pairing up with their friends, and I realized I was quickly being left out.
This scene looked a little too familiar.
My eyes naturally made their way over to the only girl in the class I knew, but someone had already approached the pinkette to claim her partnership. Deciding to not get my hopes up about Meredy, I quickly turned to the pair closest to me to ask if I could tag along with them...
... But that was before Meredy herself rolled her chair to sit beside me.
"What up Lockser?"
I was stunned... Well, is it silly to say that I was touched, even?
It was hard to try and level my head to whatever else Professor Azuma had to say while my mind was still reeling from the fact that Meredy had deliberately chosen me as her partner. The girl herself seemed to be barely listening to our professor also, and her eyes kept shooting from a pen on her desk, to playing with her fingernails.
"You know Lockser, I really dig your blue hair," she leaned over and whispered to me. She had turned her attention to me for a little while, but I didn't really care that she had been staring.
Before, I could thank her for the compliment, she went further.
"It gives me inspiration for my new stripper name! Maybe 'Blueberry' or something to that effect. Oh! I think 'Strawberry' works better for me since I have pink hair huh?"
As she continued rambling on, my face became a little paler.
I think I have a feeling of the kind of semester I was going to be having with her.
That evening, when I was on my way back to the dorm room from the library, I saw a girl in a 'JEC' shirt taping a flyer to the wall. Apparently they were hosting a movie night event on the lawn with Jurassic world as the feature film. Immediately, I couldn't wait to go back and share this with Lisanna. One thing she and I both wanted to do one day was visit a drive-in movie. Although this wasn't a drive-in, I felt like the experience would be close enough for the both of us.
I could bring in all the snacks, and she could show off that handmade quilt of hers.
"I remembered seeing that on my way from class," Lisanna started, after I presented the paper to her. She was at her desk area in our room, with her headphones plugged in and doing homework.
"But don't you remember Juvie? I have another game on Saturday evening so I won't be able to make that," she said with a small smile. "Gosh! I'm so jealous!" She finished.
I completely froze.
How in the hell did I forget that she performs with the band?!
If there were ever a time where a face palm was appropriate, now would be the appropriate time.
She went back to her homework, putting her headphones back on, while I took a load off on the bed. I didn't have anybody else that I was comfortable enough to ask to go with me other than Lisanna and Mirajane. For a split second, Meredy crossed my mind, but I quickly crossed out that option. First of all, I didn't want to disturb any plans she had for her Saturday night, plus, I didn't even know if she was into this kind of stuff.
I knew for a fact that Sue wouldn't really be interested in this kind of thing either, even though she and I were cool.
I guess... I just won't go. Which kind of sucks too, since this is the first event on campus like this that I'm interested in. Plus, I already knew I wasn't going to this second football game on Saturday. It was another away game, but this time, it was really far away, and after that nasty sunburn from last week, I'm trying to stay out of the sunlight as much as possible.
So what's a girl to do?
"Ouch!" A girl cried, after my shoulder blade accidentally dug into her chest.
"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry!"
She was wincing, signifying that she was in pain, but despite that she managed to spit out a "that's okay," for my reassurance and continued about her way with the ocean of students onto the next class, with her friends making sure she was okay.
Bless her kind heart.
And in case you were wondering, I was lost... Again.
Thankfully, this time I didn't have a class to go to right at this moment, but after my last class was dismissed, I followed the flow of student movement into more unfamiliar territory and now I was a sitting duck... again.
I decided to turn around to try to retrace my steps back to my last class. Maybe if I go back there, I could remember how to get to the landmarks that I know on campus. I kid you not, as soon as I turned around, I bumped into somebody again.
"Goodness! I'm sorry!" I say, rubbing my forehead from our collision.
"Well would you look at who we have here?" Said a familiar voice.
I looked up to see a cheeky grin and spiky pink hair in front of me.
Okay. Thank God it was only Natsu. I think I was going to cry if I accidentally hurt another stranger for being forgetful... again.
He had a playful smile on his face as he took all of four seconds to decipher what was going on with me.
"You lost again Julia?"
"It's Juvia," I corrected. "And... yes." I finished shamefully.
Just like last time, he offered to walk me to where I needed to be, and just like last time he was carrying his instrument case in his hand while his backpack was hoisted over his other shoulder. I think he told me that his main instrument of choice was the baritone. I could be wrong though.
"Band practice?" I questioned.
"Well yeah, but it's not until another hour. I'm headed to the mess hall now, to stack up on some grub before Makarov works me to the bone for another five hours again."
I felt a chill up my spine.
"Isn't that... the band director's first name?" I asked rigidly, with a frozen smile.
He let out a mischievous grin. "Yep. All of us call the old man that behind his back." He added with a dark chuckle. Then he started to rub his hands together like a supervillain.
"I consider it payback for always getting on our butts, especially mine! And for no good reason either!" A babyish pout rested on his face as he looked off to the side, probably thinking about this alleged 'mistreatment' he received from the band director.
I just quietly let him say what he had to say, watching our feet march (which were almost in sync by the way).
By the time as we made our way to the flag pole, Natsu abruptly stopped.
"Hmm?"
His eyebrows were furrowed as he looked around us.
Then, I heard it.
"Natsu!" We both turned to see a spikey haired, honey blonde boy, wearing an MU sweatshirt, baggy jeans and blue tinted shades waving at Natsu from the large Western lawn.
"What the hell you idiot?! We're about to start playing!" came his cry.
"Say what?!" Natsu practically jumped out of his skin. "Julia I gotta go!" He said as he took off
I felt my left eye do a slight twitch. That was certainly new for me, but it felt totally natural in this situation.
I'm starting to think that the band director isn't hard on this guy for no reason. I mean, I haven't known him for very long, but why is it that he's always late for something? And then, something hit me.
"It's Juvi- you know what, nevermind."
Something tells me he isn't going to remember it anyway.
Natsu made a sprint towards the West, where the Performing Arts Centre and band hall were, however, I noticed a lot of kids were steadily heading in that direction too, and by the boatloads.
Curious, I decided to make my way over there to see what was going on.
"Oh..."
So it looked like the band was practicing outside today.
Once I was there, I saw an army of kids of all different sizes and shapes, wearing all different kinds of clothing, all standing in formation, with instruments in hand. Their instruments were poised at their lips, or drumsticks/cymbals in the ready position.
They covered about 80% of the lawn in front of the PAC. There was a large crowd of students gathering around to listen. Heck, I even saw professors taking their classes outside in order to spectate.
At the helm of it all was this tiny old man, in a blue and gold MU shirt, standing on top of a ladder that was even taller than me. A look of complete and total concentration rested on his face. His arms were up in a position ready to guide the band.
"Band ready!" His voice, although it came from a tiny body, reached all the way to the drummers at the very back. Nobody moved a muscle. Everybody's faces were serious and concentrated.
"Number 85!" He called.
Just then, Natsu came tiptoeing out of the PAC, his bronze horn in hand (after probably shedding the case in the band room) hoping to fly under Makarov's radar. To no avail. The old man's head whipped around so fast, I swore his neck broke.
Natsu visibly flinched at the murderous glare the man gave him.
"Ready! ...and 1... 2... 3... And!" As he counted down, his arms waved up and down in the air until they started to play.
There was a collective cheering from the students. The opening notes sounded like a 'get ready' tone as the horns happily played their simple beat and the cymbals clapped to keep time. Students started to put their hands in the air, sticking out their index finger and thumb, and rocking side to side to the beat of the cymbals.
I could literally feel the energy from the people around me.
When the beat sort of 'dropped' so to speak (it was a mid to fast tempo song) the crowd started to rock. Since the song was in full swing, Mr. Dreyar decided to hand the reigns over to one of his assistant band directors as he climbed down the ladder (I think his name was Mr. Conbolt but I wasn't sure. I knew for a fact that the man had purple hair).
While the song played, everybody seemed to be having a good time...
... except for Natsu. Natsu was not having a good time.
Because Makarov was chasing him.
"Come here you little brat!" He screamed as he gave chase to the pinkette.
Natsu was running as fast as his legs could carry him around the lawn, and through and around the crowd. When the pair whizzed past where I was standing, some of the kids standing around me laughed in merriment. I started to break into a cold sweat though.
Mr. Dreyar took off one of his tennis shoes, and threw it at Natsu's head. Although the old man's aim was impressively accurate, the boy was swift and agile as he ducked and dodged out of its path.
"I'M GONNA KILL YA! STOP BEING LATE TO MY PRACTICES!"
"Geez, calm down you old fart!" Natsu pleaded. "I thought practice was at three!"
"You neanderthal! When have you ever known our practices to start at three?!" He then took a deep breath. His face was so red that I thought he was going to explode. "AND STOP CALLING ME OLD YOU BRAT! IT'S MR. DREYAR TO YOU! WHEN PRACTICE IS OVER, I'M GONNA MAKE YOU HOLD EVERYONE'S INSTRUMENT CASES AND RUN AROUND THE FOOTBALL FIELD WITH THEM UNTIL YOU COLLAPSE!"
Makarov had taken a break from running to start shouting, but Natsu had been able to finally make it to his section safely. The song had finally stopped and once his band mates had their instruments down, he started to slip into his spot.
But not before he got the final word in:
"Ha! Oh I'd like to see you tr-"
His snarky comment was cut short when a flying tennis shoe did connect with the side of his head, causing an audible 'bonk'.
I didn't even notice when Mr. Dreyar took off his other shoe.
The guys closest to the pinkette started to laugh as he massaged his head and found his position in line.
"Oh shaddup!" I heard him say. "Unless you guys wanna fight me!"
Everybody around me seemed to be either enjoying the scene in front of them, or ignoring it as they waited for the next song, acting like it was business as usual.
Why does no one here look surprised?
"Oh don't look so worried," a familiar voice beside me said. The next thing I knew, there was an arm wrapping around my shoulder. "This is normal for them."
What the hell?
But when I looked, I realized it was only Meredy.
"Can you stop doing that?" I asked, startled out of my panties.
A smirk formed on her face, while her sparkling, emerald eyes were trained straight ahead, watching the band. "Nah."
I sighed.
"So what's the story there?" She started again. "You know, with that boy you were watching. Is he your boyfriend or something?"
I turned to look at her like she was absolutely crazy. Was she seriously talking about Natsu?
"No! Of course not!"
"I'm just saying Lockser," she unhooked her arm from around me and shrugged. "I'd be careful if I were you. The boys from the band have a bit of a reputation."
I raised my eyebrow in her direction.
Seemingly completely at peace now, Mr. Dreyar picked up his shoes, one foot at a time, even politely saying 'excuse me' to some students as he made his way back to the front. Mr. Conbolt took the liberty of transitioning the band into their next song. He clapped his hands twice and raised them, seeing that the band got somewhat distracted poking fun at Natsu.
"Spirit!" He said.
Like Makarov, he counted down to the band playing the arrangement. The students around me raised their fingers in the air with their other to their sides as the slow song played. I'm not going to lie, it sounded like a national anthem, but it wasn't the Fiore national anthem though.
"It's the school's song," Meredy whispered, while she too pointed her index finger and thumb in the air, with the other on her waist.
"Oh..." I said and followed suit to her stance.
"Did you even read the school's handbook?"
Truthfully I didn't.
"Anyway, what did you mean when you said the band boys have a reputation?"
"They're fast," she said. "And wild."
Fast...? And wild?
"Well... What do you mean by that?"
"I mean, that they're all players. Especially the good looking ones... in which case the band full of them. The boys, especially the upperclassmen have this habit of chasing after the freshman girls because they haven't been on campus long enough to hear the truth. Well that… and since they're young, gullible and awestruck at their musical talent, they're more inclined to give it up easy."
I felt my breath get caught up in my throat. "Oh wow..."
"Yep," Meredy continued. "If you noticed, the band members at this school are treated like mini celebrities on campus, and that's how they're able to do all this stuff. The worst part is though, that they're training their freshman class to follow in their disgusting ways, and that pink haired friend of yours is probably their number one trainee. I mean, he's always hanging out and cracking jokes with the senior boys."
She ended her explanation by turning and giving me a 'matter-of-fact' look. A look that said that she believed with every fiber of her being that she was right about this, and that I shouldn't question her.
I thought about both of my encounters with Natsu and none of what Meredy said seemed to describe the guy at all.
"I don't think... Natsu's that kind of person..." I say slowly.
But then again... I could be wrong. I mean, I really don't know the guy from a can of paint, and if it's one thing I learned in all my years of living, it's to never put anything past anyone.
The school's song was long and slow, but everyone stood still to pay allegiance the entire time. Makarov had decided to take back the reigns, climbing back on his ladder and calling them to attention.
"Let your mind be free!" He called.
"So, tell me Meredy..." I say after a while. "Why do kids just drop whatever they're doing to watch the band as they practice? I know it's the middle of the day and all, but it seems like everyone's dropped what they're doing to come here."
Meredy looked at me and rolled her eyes. She shot me a look that had asked a stupid question. Who knows, maybe I did.
"Duh, because it's the BAND. The band is the school's pride and joy! It's like the one calling card that the president can pull at meetings about this school," she snickered. "He's always talking about how the band is critically acclaimed and recognized to be one of the best in the country, and around the world. They were once invited to play at the French government's national revolution summit. And if that doesn't scream status, I don't know what does."
My jaw dropped.
Okay... So I knew the band here was pretty good, but I was never into the music scene like that so I never really thought much of it... But this band was real deal famous! And you know what, that's probably part of the reason why the Fairies (who dance in front of them) get so much infamy and fame.
So that's why the Fairy videos get so many views.
That's why there are so many Fairy hopefuls every year.
Now it's starting to all make sense.
My face was probably giving away my entire thought process as Meredy continued to look at me in disbelief.
"How is it that I know more about this stuff than you do, and I literally came here from another country?"
I withered a little. She was right (brutally so), but did she really have to rub it in?
"My bad..." I whimpered like a little puppy.
This next song began with the tubas playing some sort of funky brass melody, while the other sections waved their instruments in the air and sang out "oh". I decided to look around again and the crowd drawn to the area looked like almost half the population of the school.
Well I'll be damned.
There was a crowd even at the entrance of the freshman girls dorms. It's almost a wonder if they could hear from all the way in the back, but I highly doubt that. Our band, like I said before was about the size of a small army. Plus, not only did they have size, they had the power to back it up. Not only that, their playing was rich... masterful. Even though they were just playing preppy, spirit songs, (I suppose just for the sake of it) the songs were so clear that I could hear and sing the words. They had power, but melody in every single part. It was like a cantankerous machine. I was impressed.
The band was truly powerful.
"Hey Lockser... you're friends with one of the Fairy crabs right?"
Meredy snatched me completely out of my thoughts. "Yep," I quickly replied.
The students all around us were hopping around with the band. Small groups of friends were recording each other singing and laughing. Others chose to watch quietly, but with keen interest. The energy was joyous in the atmosphere.
"Well I've been hearing some rumors going around," she said nonchalantly. "That the white haired girl only made the team because her big sister is on it."
I felt a record scratch on the whole mood. "WHAT?!"
Meredy raised her hands in defense. "Hey, I'm just the messenger."
"What else were people saying?" I ask, now totally invested.
"I mean, that was pretty much the gist of it. I've been hearing people say things in my other classes and people around my circle say that she only made it because Mirajane was her sister."
I'm pissed. That couldn't have been farther from the truth. "Well that's a complete lie," I say, trying to hold in my anger. "Lisanna's worked her butt off, on her own, to make it to where she's at. And I mean anyway, do they even hear how ridiculous that sounds?! Mira has to attend the same tryouts too. She could be cut at any moment, so how exactly does she have any say in the audition process?!"
Meredy shrugged. "That's just what I've been hearing."
My entire mood had been soured. The band had finished playing their song and I felt like I had barely heard any of it.
I hate rumors.
"That's not all though. There are girls who were at auditions claiming all sorts of things."
"Wait a minute... Did you say the girls who were at auditions? As in, girls who wanted to make the team but didn't?!"
Well duh Meredy! I wanted to say. Of course it would be people who didn't make the team saying those things. Rejection is a tough pill to swallow after all.
"You know Lockser..." Meredy said, eyeing me quietly.
"Yeah...?"
"Nah." She whipped her ponytail back to face the band. Whatever she was about to say to me, she decided against it. "Nevermind."
That Saturday evening, clips of the band from the game started to leak before the game was even done. One of the first things I noticed this week was their cute uniform choice. It was a white two piece with silver lining and a silver 'M' on their chest in Italics. They paired it with their usual white gloves, a silver sequin headband around their foreheads, and silver character heels instead of gold ones like last week. Their top had a single strap going over their right shoulder and it had a tear shaped cutout in the middle of their chest showing a little bit of cleavage line.
A little risque.
Overall the look was very simple... but cute.
At this moment in time, the video that was getting the most views was a video of the band playing 'Yoga' by Janelle Monet and the Fairies dancing to it. Evergreen came out the gate swinging with the first count as the team followed. She lead the girls as the whole team danced in unison behind her, trying to catch on to eight-count after eight-count. I was impressed by the amount of dynamics the song had. When the song slowed down Evergreen slowed down with it, and when it exponentially sped up, she turned up with it. To top it all off, the beat was super funky.
I can see why this video is already blowing up.
When the video was over, I checked my laptop for the time as it had Pennywise on the screen paused in a mid action shot. It was almost time for the movie night on the lawn.
I had been contemplating it all week and... I think that I'll just go by myself.
So many of the girls in my hall had been talking about it and it's only served to feed into my excitement instead of wear it down. Even if I just go to check out the scene and not stay too long...
"Whatcha doing Lockser?"
Meredy, who was in the company of another boy and girl approached me, while I was carrying a sheet I deemed appropriate to lay on the lawn along with a large bag of popcorn chips.
"O-oh... I'm just going to the movie night thing on the lawn," I say a little embarrassedly. I can already hear her calling it lame.
"Woah really?" Her eyes practically sparkled. "Let me join you!" She asked (I guess).
After going back and deliberating with her friends, it was decided that she would come alone since they too couldn't tag along.
"I got to be honest Meredy... I didn't think you were into this kind of stuff."
"Ehhh, I saw the posters and whatnot and had nothing better to do, so hey, what the heck?" She said in between chomps. "Besides those two who I was just with could've probably used the alone time," she finished with a mischievous glint in her green eyes.
Despite whatever reasoning, it made my heart feel pretty warm inside that Meredy decided to join me in doing this. I couldn't wait to go back to the dorm later on and tell Brenda.
Maybe this whole making friends thing, wasn't totally out of my realm like I thought
I get really sad when I post an update (on any of my stories really) and don't get any reviews. To help out with that, tell me what you thought down below.
S/N: The next chapter is going to be pretty different! :)
