Assignment 4: Survival Skills: BYOBOB (Bring Your Own Bug Out Bag) Task #7: Navigation: Write about someone exploring an unfamiliar place.

"You don't look like a gnome," Fred said, looking at the small creature that was all pink and covered in glitter.

"That would be because I'm not a gnome!" Queen Poppy muttered, slightly offended by the accusation. "I am Queen Poppy, ruler of the trolls."

"With all due respect, you don't look much like a troll either," George added.

"And you don't look like a typical Bergen," she said, turning her head sideways and looking at the two redheads.

"What's a Bergen?"

"Okay, okay, this is going in circles," she said, smiling cheerfully. "What are you?"

"We are," Fred said.

"Wizards," said George.

"Why are you carrying a stick?" Poppy asked, eyeing it curiously.

They laughed.

"It's a wand," Fred explained. "We can do magic with it."

Poppy observed the scenery from the checkered blanket and the basket filled with snacks.

"Are you having a party?" she asked.

"Yes," Fred said. "Our girlfriends went to the shops across the road, and will be back soon."

"My boyfriend Branch is such a grinch, he didn't want to come out with me and my friends, otherwise he would have shown those gnomes a thing or two. This is the second time my friends have been kidnapped, and I have no way of telling him," Poppy said with a small sigh.

"The garden gnomes kidnapped your friends? That's awful." George rummaged in the basket, taking a piece of chocolate and breaking it off.

"Thank you," she said gratefully.

"I have heard chocolate always makes you feel better," George explained. "Now tell us everything, and once the other's get here, we will see if we can help you find your friends."

"Okay, Biggie & Mr. Dinkles, Guy Diamond, Satin & Chenille, Cooper, Smidge and Fuzzbert decided to come to this lovely park to explore, and then we got attacked by a bunch of angry, knobly looking gnomes, and Guy Diamond tried to distract them by blowing glitter at them, and then we all ran. I wish I looked back," she sighed. "I would have seen I was the only one that got away."

"Fred, what are you doing looking at the ground?" Hermione said, walking up and kissing her boyfriend on the cheek. She was soon joined by Alicia.

"We made a new friend. Queen Poppy, meet my girlfriend, Hermione," Fred said.

"Hello, Poppy," Hermione said with a small curtsey, and Alicia waved.

"And this is my girlfriend, Alicia," George added.

"Such beautiful ladies," Poppy said sweetly.

"So, where did you last see the gnomes taking your friends?" Hermione asked once they had gotten all caught up on the situation. Hermione took a bottle of butterbeer from the basket, shrinking it down and handing the bottle to Poppy.

Poppy took a sip. "Thank you," she said, and hiccupped a little.

Hermione, Fred, and Poppy, set off across the park to the last place where Poppy had seen the garden gnomes before they disappeared.

"Tunnels, look," Poppy said, pointing out the likely way the gomes had gone. "I can see glitter, this must have been the place."

"What happened the first time? Do you know why they attacked you?" Hermione asked.

"I don't know, the alarm went off for our hourly hug time, and we started singing a song, and then—" she stopped and listened when her own alarm buzzed, the echo of her friends' watches sounding through the tunnels.

"Listen," Fred said. "That sounds like yours."

Poppy nodded eagerly. "It's them," she sighed in relief. "Ever since the first time with the Bergen's, I haven't been quite as eager to believe that everything is going to turn out okay, you know?"

"I know exactly what you mean, I almost died, and so did George." Fred shuddered. "But we won, and in the end, now we know that friendship and family is more important than anything."

Poppy nodded, her pink hair bouncing in agreement. "You are very wise," she said. "For a wizard," she added teasingly.

"Poppy, how will you get them out?" Hermione asked, it was clear from the witches face that she was worried about her.

"Um, Hermione," Poppy started slowly. "Do you think you could cast that spell again?"

"Which spell was that, Poppy?"

"The one that made the drink tiny, you and Fred can shrink down and go into the tunnels with me. I can't do this alone."

Hermione and Fred shared a look. "It would be a lot more complicated with us," Hermione explained, but Poppy's face sank.

"Oh."

"But we can try," Fred insisted. He just hated seeing the little pink troll so upset, it almost seemed like she had gone all grey before they agreed to help her.

They followed the path underneath the ground to a room where the garden gnomes stood, they had Poppy's friends tied up.

"Hey look, the pink one was stupid enough to try and rescue them," the one on the left said.

"Oh, and she brought two more intruders with her," the other added.

The garden gnomes looked a lot more vicious when they were larger than Fred and Hermione, but they soon scattered when Hermione lit the one's bottom on fire, making him screech and fall to the ground, rolling around to put himself out, and the other laughed.

"Now, let them go, or you will be next," Hermione threatened, sending sparks from her wand. She didn't want to hurt any creature if she didn't have to, but these gnomes had kidnapped innocent trolls. The thought made her shudder with disgust. The gnome looked at the sparks flying from her wand and decided to make a run for it, and the one on the ground just managed to put himself out, dropped the key to the chains, and made his way down the tunnels as well.

"Yay! Celebrate good times, come on!" Poppy sang. "We did it!"

Once everyone was untied, they made their way back through the tunnels, and Poppy introduced everyone. The small group of trolls made their way back to the picnic blanket, with the now back to normal Fred and Hermione, and the trolls had a lovely picnic with them, singing them songs as a way of thanks, despite Hermione's protests that none where needed.
