Like They Used To
They called that 500 series Kirby that lurked around the warehouse Forrest.
He had long since passed vacuum duties to that new Shark Apex.
An old laptop (that may have run off) was his best friend.
The commotion in the house was enough for him to pause whatever he was watching and wheel towards the group.
"What's all the racket?" he groaned.
Rex tapped Twilight on the shoulder. "You know you're loud when Forrest pauses binge-watching old TV shows for it."
Forrest wheeled closer to Christine. "What's the meaning of this?"
Christine shrugged. "I know... you won't believe me, but Parts Collectors."
Forrest groaned. "Aren't those only a rumor?"
Christine shook her monitor. "No. I'm afraid a big appliance boss has information on one of our new residents."
Twilight blinked. Tempest... Tempest... that name was familiar to her.
Twilight sat on a pawn shop shelf. A customer had brought in a lamp. Apparently, the company had sent them the wrong color. Instead of sending the lamp back, they decided to pawn it off.
Twilight found another Rainbow sitting beside her: a black and red one.
"Oh, hi. Do you have a name?"
The lamp slowly awoke. "Uh, Tempest?" he replied.
It was kinda weird being one of the few appliances in the pawn shop. Their master's old hoover Ivan would sometimes visit for a chat.
Twilight looked at Ivan. The two had been out of the pawn shop for years.
