Road Trip
Haley climbed inside the SUV. Apparently, Maia and Diana had planned a little "road trip" to visit Tempest in Phoenix. Something about reinforcements. She had to share backseat with Diana, Vito and Pippa.
"I'm sure they'll last without us," Maia said. "They fixed the AC."
The SUV pulled away from the diner after everyone was inside and the doors were closed.
Maia lay down on the roof rack, bound with cables.
Tempest smiled. "Ah, I'll have visitors soon."
He got off the desk. Slate wheeled up to him.
"Some of your old underlings?" Slate asked.
"Well, they've transferred to a new branch," Tempest said. "I can't wait to see them again. I heard they recruited a few new members."
Twilight spent the day hiding behind the old dishwasher. Wendy had difficulty turning around.
"You okay back there?" she asked.
"No," Twilight whimpered. She paused. "Well, I... may have heard a rumor. Maia killed a Rainbow."
"Who's Maia?" An ancient box fan asked.
Twilight left Wendy's shadow and approached the center of the warehouse.
"I... I made a deal with the Parts Collectors," she admitted.
Ivan nearly fell over.
"I wanted a replacement motor for Ivan, so I... contacted the Collectors," Twilight said. "Maia was the boss of that chapter. And I think she has unfinished business with me."
